VR-Review on a Oculus Rift
VR Games tend to have a lot of influx of solely arena and shooting gallery based games. I tend to avoid these mainly because they feel like a cheap cashgrab and have barely any gameplay to offer and dont stimulate me enough especially if you have already played a couple of games. To a certain extent i would have applied this to gorn aswell but there are certain things in this game that make it great and bad at the same time. Gameplay Gorn offers an interestening decapatation system . You can cut or rip off limbs and armor pieces can fly off of enemies. What i like is that most arenas, or bosses offer stages that have mostly some kind of twist to it. Mostly a new weapon. Enemy variety is only there to a certain extent, except bosses and later on giant enemies they only differenciate themself by having different armor. The combat itself is fun especially if you use short weapons, like short swords, and hammers. In order to stab properly you need to be in a big open room to be able to comfortable move and stab around in your room. I really hated how wobbly weapons are. This is to a certain extent good, giving you weapon feedback without really taking the control out of your hands by making the weapon just either penetrate walls or stop before this. My problem is that i dislike how this affects combat, making it hard to aim especially when using two handed weapons. They flail around like being a morning star. On contrast this effect was really great on the staffs or morning stars which work around on being like rubber. Bosses are mostly a joke, i found myself only troubled during the last two or three bosses. VR with Rift and controls While the controls itself work totally fine, you basically only have to grab with a button, swing with your hands and move, the moving system is what i kind of dislike. Moving is by pressing a button and making a really weird pulling motion with both hands. You can add the option to use the left stick to move, which i found definetly more to my liking but it kind of breaks the game by making it, except the last bosses at tops, just plain easy. Doing it without is quite impossible due to the sheer amount of space the game otherwise needs as you need to sometimes physically move. Unless you got an empty room just for VR this should work fine. In addition to that i definetly would recommend to buy an extention cable for your VR system. Sound Some developer was busy developing his own language for the game. Which in itself is hilarious but doesnt really make much sense when the person who is talking the most time to your, the king, is talking in regular english. Sound effects are great, especially if you hit armor giving you great feedback . Story Apparently there is some story about you and a prisoner but i couldnt seem to trigger the next dialogue nor was i inclined to do the various challenges the game offered to maybe unlock everything it has. Conclusion This game is a good way to show your friends how VR feels like but when coming over the inital whoaa stage and going into gameplay there are a lot of things i like and dislike over this game. For what it offers its definetly not overpriced compared to what other VR games want. The combat feels great especially with the graphical and sound impact the game has but the depth and the unimmersive /weird usage of the wobbling weapons it definetly has its huge downsides. 6/10 Above average game

VERDICT: GORN is a great way to blow off some steam or to have a physical workout, there's a high chance you might smash your fist into something that isn't your enemies but it's well worth the risk! The campaign is short but there's plenty to do afterwards, like mastering the arts of every weapon or finding new ways to rip your enemies limbs off! The stages are pretty straight forward apart from the final level where you have to use the crowd to throw off the king, It's pretty damn hard but well worth the reward. It's a cheapish game with hours of fun, just be careful of your surroundings. Total Score = 78/100. SIMILAR GAME LIKE THIS? / REVIEWER PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: Blade and Sorcery. GAMEPLAY: GORN combatants will be able to creatively execute their most violent gladiatorial fantasies in virtual reality. Savagely strike down an infinite supply of poorly-animated opponents with all manner of weapons – from swords, maces, and bows to nunchuks, throwing knives, massive two-handed warhammers or even your blood-soaked bare hands. The only limits to the carnage are your imagination and decency, in the most brutal and savage VR face-smashing game ever produced by man. ■■■■■■■□□□ 7 / 10 This game will literally give you blood, sweat and tears
