Macht schon Laune, jedoch sind 20€ für ca. 3 Stunden Spielzeit (für alle Levels) wirklich happig.
Klar gibts noch Custom Levels, jedoch sind mir 3 Stunden bei dem Spiel auch genug.
Zum Schluss wird das Spiel tatsächlich auch sehr schwierig und kann vom Fuchteln auch leicht körperlich anstrengend sein

Da ich es für ~2€ auf Humble Bundle gekauft habe kann ich es trotzdem empfehlen.
Für den Vollpreis jedoch nicht...

Kleines aber feines Arena-Gladiator-Spiel. Die Grafik ist im Comicstyle gehalten. Ist bei der Gewaltorgie wohl auch besser so. Der Sound ist nie unangenehm aufgefallen. Wobei der Sprecher des Königs spitze ist und die Kämpfe vollmundig ankündigt. Aber gerade die Steuerung ist klasse, auch wenn sich die Waffen etwas gummiartig verhalten, ist des aber kein Problem, da die wobbelnden Dinger sonst sehr präzise einzusetzen sind. So kann man gezielt Köpfe aufspießen und Herzen rausreissen. Alles super lustig, wenn man zerplatzende Köpfe, amputiert humpelnde Gegner und sonstige fliegende Körperteile spaßig findet … ich tu's jedenfalls … abartig aber irgendwie lustig … ähh, bin ich krank im Kopf – hmm, kann schon sein ;-)

GORN von Free Lives ist auch eines der Spiele, die man in VR gespielt haben muss. GORN umgibt schon ein gewisser Kultstatus.
GORN ist ein Arena-Kampf-Spiel der besonders blutigen Art.Wir können die Köpfe der gegnerischen Gladiatoren förmlich zu Brei schlagen, Gliedmaßen abhacken und auf mehr Arten dem Gegner den Garaus machen, als man sich vorstellen kann. GORN ist schon sehr brutal, aber auch schrecklich lustig.

In GORN gibt es keine wirkliche Geschichte zu erleben, warum auch? Schließlich ist das Leben als Gladiator nicht gerade kompliziert. Es geht einfach darum, zu töten oder getötet zu werden.
Die Kämpfe in der Arena gleichem einen Sandkasten der Zerstörung. Es gibt massig Waffen zum Experimentieren und jede Menge gegnerische Idioten die gerne bereit sind allen Experimenten beizuwohnen, sie kommen sogar freiwillig auf uns zu.
Zu Beginn hat man nur ein einfaches Schwert, aber nach jedem Kampf werden neue Waffen in die Arena per Lastkran gelassen.
Der Grad an Brutalität ist in GORN sehr hoch, aber das Spiel kompensiert dies hervorragend mit schwarzen Humor. Die Waffen sehen z.B. aus, als wären sie aus aufblasbarem Gummi, das bei Kontakt durchhängt und sich biegt. Die Feinde murmeln unzusammenhängend und tänzeln wie betrunkenen herum. Es gibt auch jede Menge schräge Ragdoll-Physik.

Das Fehlen von Gesundheitsindikatoren macht es schwer, vorherzusehen, ob der nächste Treffer tödlich sein könnte und das Spiel selbst ist schon etwas Einseitig. Von Level zu Level ändert sich nur wenig. Man steht mehr Gegnern gegenüber und sie haben mehr Panzerung.
Die Endbosskämpfe sind aber eine willkommene Abwechslung, aber die sind selten. Es gibt allerdings auch noch Zusatzmodi auszuwählen.

Bester VR Titel den ich bisher gespielt habe.

Erst die Warnung.
Ihr kämpft auf übertrieben brutale Weise, mit Gummi artigen Waffen, gegen Armeen aus unförmig fleischigen Comic Conans auf wackeligen Beinen, unter dem wachsamen Auge eines hässlichen herablassenden Bobble Head Königs.
Wenn ihr damit nichts anfangen könnt wartet besser bis Gladius VR aus der Early Aces raus ist.

Mich selbst hat der übertrieben absurde Stil des Spiels erst abgeschreckt, aber nach der ersten runde habe ich es bereits geliebt.

Die Laufsteuerung ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. ihr greift die Umgebung mit der A oder X Taste eures Controllers und 'schiebt' sie mit einer Armbewegung ein stück an euch vorbei.
Klingt jetzt etwas merkwürdig, passt aber irgendwie allgemein zu dem Spiel Konzept.

Gekämpft wird mit den Controllern. Mit den 'greifen' Tasten könnt ihr die Hand zur Faust machen, was an sich schon als Waffe eingesetzt werden kann, aber natürlich könnt ihr damit auch herumliegende Waffen aller Art aufheben.
Und zwar wirklich aller Art. Neben der wirklich großen Zahl an tatsächlichen Waffen: Keulen Schwerter, Speere, Stäbe, Bögen, Nunchakus etc. könnt ihr auch rumliegende Steine, Rüstungsteile, oder auch abgetrennte Gliedmaßen aufheben und euren Gegnern um die Ohren Hauen. Mit etwas Geschick, greift ihr euch selbst lebende Gegner, hackt ihnen einen arm ab und prügelt ihn dann damit zu Tode.
Knapp an Waffen? Schnappt euch eine vorlauten Krieger am Kragen. Prügelt ihm mit der Faust das Grinsen aus dem Gesicht. Nutzt ihn als Schutzschild gegen den nächsten Bogenschützen. Und schlagt schlussendlich diesen mit dem Leichnam Zu Brei.

An dieser Stelle sollte ich vielleicht noch erwähnen, dass der Gewaltanteil WIRKLICH sehr hoch ist.
Also so wirklich, wirklich.
Auch wenn der Comic Look das ganze etwas verharmlosend wirken lässt, so sollte man sich doch bewusst sein, dass man dieses spiel nur Spielt und Blutige Gladiatoren Stücke durch die Arena zu Prügeln.
Aber mit Stil

Die Waffensteuerung funktioniert dabei richtig gut und intuitiv. Lediglich beim Werfen hatte ich schwere Probleme. Ich habe es nicht geschafft ein einziges Wurfmesser, vernünftig auf einen Gegner zu schleudern.
Ob mir einfach nur die Richtige Technik nicht einfallen will oder die Latenz einfach die richtige Greifen, Schwingen, Loslassen Kombination nicht zulässt kann ich dabei nicht sagen.
schade, da das Werfen aller Waffen grundsätzlich möglich ist und noch etwas mehr Stil einbrächte.

Auch muss ich erwähnen, dass ihr Platz braucht.
Der mindest Spielbereich wird euch vermutlich nicht reichen.
Ich habe bei einer Freien Fläche von 2x2 Metern und trotz Oculus Quest Guardian mit dem ich bei den meisten Spielen nie über die Grenzen hinaus lange, doch dem einen oder anderen Schrank oder Fernseher die eine oder andere Watschen verpasst.
Auf jeden Fall alles zerbrechliche in Sicherheit bringen. Besonders auf Arm Höhe Platz schaffen. Vielleicht auch Handschuhe anziehen um Verletzungen zu vermeiden XD
Wer die Möglichkeit hat, sollte auf jeden Fall auch versuchen das Spiel Kabellos auf sein Headgear zu streamen, da das Kabel immer wieder im Weg sein wird wenn ihr auch Axt schwingend in alle Richtungen Dreht.

Also wenn ihr Platz habt und etwas Quatsch mit grandiosen Gewaltdarstellungen mögt, fühlt ihr euch hier schon bald wie der größte Barbarenschlächter überhaupt.
Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

Absolute blast

incredibly epic

would recommend.

It is more fun with candy mode on tbh, makes it a lot funnier to explode giant, buff gladiators and watch them pop with candy like pinatas.

This game is good but like most VR games, just lacks the content to warrant the price tag. However it is quite fun to smash these guys. The ragdolls are awesome to watch and weapons are quite well done, for example the flail allows you to swing it as fast as you can and bar the weight it actually feels like you are swinging a flail.

From what I've seen so far the game consists of 3 arenas plus a custom mode. Hopefully i find more as this game could be something really great with some more content.

Get on sale if you can.

I had to buy my buddy a new monitor because of this game and I mean that in the best possible way.

Gorn is an effing blast, easily one of the most entertaining vr games I've ever played. If you like the idea of swording, shooting, and crab-clawing your way through like 50 dudes in an arena, you should absolutely give it a shot. It's got a great, fun graphical style, and an interpretation of physics that, while not what I'd call realistic, is extremely fun. Hell, even the voice acting is good. It's the most physical vr game I've seen yet, so expect to work up a sweat when you really get into it. Just, ah, make sure you've got a decent amount of space. Or can afford a new monitor.

I have two scuff marks on my walls, and my right Knuckles controller is cracked along its body. One scuff was a friend grazing the wall. Another was a martial artist friend playing Gorn, keeping back, then lunging forward and punching the wall with full force, creating the crack.

PLAY THIS, AND PLAY IT WITH VERY CONSERVATIVE CHAPERONE BOUNDS. This requires effort to mitigate the tendency of your brain to insist that past that thin grid of squares is a whole bunch of space in which exists the man you wish to murderize.

Great game. Has a party mode! Good.

This game is extremely fun. I was actually pretty sore the next day from swinging and playing so much my first time. I would recommend you have a lot of space so you don't hit anything in your physical environment.

GORN is a great gladiator simulator game that is just super goofy and fun to mess around with fighting waves upon waves of dumb brutes with all kinds of medieveal weaponry and fight against several bosses. Tons of fun weapons to use, lots of bosses, all kinds of great physics and just pure stupidness just a fun time to waste time in and mess around killing dumb gladitors in. Also there’s a custom mode where you can change the settings to pretty much everything about the game pretty sweet.

+So many different weapons to use there’s a new weapon in every level each focusing on a specific category. Blades, maces, nunchucks, crows bow, bow, crab claws, wolverine claws, swords, axes, hammers, etc.
+Lots of bosses at the end of each level all fight differently very cool yes
+Giant crab boss
+Giants
+Good said of options
+Works on most VR headsets
+Thankfully can change the walk mode from the default which is just so bad imo
+Custom mode where you can change so many different settings to: gravity, height, speed, weapons, head size, etc. Really fun endless mode to mess around with and you can save your presets as well
+Very graphic you can rip peoples heads off and cut their limbs off and they will still try and fight you
+The enemies are very dumb and will hit eachother very often sometimes even causing them to fight eachother several other times they will always walk willingly into a death pit
+Can grab and counter pretty much any attack and sometimes can just grab the weapon out of your opponent's hand or just rip their head off. Other instances where you can just cut them to pieces.
+Several arenas
+You can flip everyone off
+Good room redecorator
+Various Difficulties

-When using the bow and arrow, I wish that you could use the arrow itself as a sort of sharp weapon to stab the opponents with especially when they get close and you have nothing else. Instead it is useless unless shot
-Certain weapons don’t have any explanation on how to use and you will have to learn yourself by trial and error.
-Kinda wished that bladed weapons would cut through the enemies a bit more so. Yes you can cut off limbs which takes a bit to do as well as you can stab someone's heart out. It just felt like that bladed weapons acted a lot like blunt weapons and wouldn’t do as much damage as straight up stabbing a guy in the chest would take you doing this 5 times to kill him or so.
-Considering how the enemies wear armor it would be nice if you could as well wear some or pick up some on the ground. As you take one hit from any blunt weapon and you’re basically dead.
-Not really that much of a con but, in the final 3 levels on the third floor there is a death pit in each sort of corner of the arena. You can simply walk into the death pit and not die and all the enemies will walk directly into it making it insanely easy.
-Wished that the final boss fight had a bit more of a sense of telling you what to do [spoiler] how you had to hit the flying heads into the pillars of the king I felt like wasn’t explained or shown that obviously making it seem like you just had to keep fighting and something else would happen. Not only that but, dying during this point would set you back to where you had to fight the 30+ flying heads so annoying especially when they 1 hit you. [/spoiler]
-Honestly really hated the wobbly flaccid like physics to all the weapons I wish they were more realistic and stiff as especially for two handed weapons they were practically like noodles which made it just very unusual and difficult to use.
-Really wish you could skip the kings dialogue at the beginning of each match after dying again and again and waiting for him to shut up so you can fight again is just tiresome
-Certain weapons just suck so badly it's just so unfun to use especially when the game forces you to start with it and fight a ton of people with it and die at any point and you're reverted back to 20 guys ago. Aka the spear which was super limp dick like and the end of it never did any damage.

I liked this game so much it was honestly a super fun time. Straight up one of my favorite VR games is just endless fun using so many different weapons there's just so much messing around you can do it great. I’m just thankful that my TV, desk, lamp, and 1 year old survived after playing this game. Although after beating all the levels all you can really do is playing customs or do it all over again and although there are higher difficulties which makes it more replayable. It’s honestly a 3-4 hour experience and for $20 idk… maybe for $10 it would make more sense or $15. I see a lot of people complain that the game is too boring but, like what did you expect? Also I’ve never played Blade and Sorcery and although that does seem better this game is just a funny similar game in its own sense that just drives off of goofy bloody gameplay and a lot of people from blade and sorcery appear to have came over to this game and dislike it to yet again I don’t understand what they would have expected it to be when they saw it. Good game get this or blade and sorcery idfk

I picked this over Blade & Sorcery because it embraces the goofiness of VR physics (and it will run better on my system). What you see in the trailer is what you get. Game consists of different rounds with bosses, and can be completed in about 4 hours. It doesn't even have online multiplayer for replay-ability. Definitely fun though, if you are willing to dump a lot of money for little return you will like it.

Highly recommend getting when on sale. Its a 3 hour experience for the story mode roughly. However, its re-playable easily.

Story mode: You are a gladiator and you face off against champions of champions. Each one becoming slightly more ridiculous than the last. You start off using swords, axes, shields, bows.... normal weapons. Mid game you can use two handed axes, two handed hammers, and iron gloves. End game you're using crab claws, honey badgers, and insane weapons.

Bosses start off similar. Tame then insane.

I recommend leaving the controlls as Gorn movement (hold a button to move while swinging arms). Extremely fun once you get use to it, and adds an extra challenge early on.

Dunno if I'd pay the full 20, but its often on sale for about 10.

ALSO: clear out anything fragile. You will end up punching a wall or a small child.

This is the only VR game i've played thus far that has 1:1 weapon fighting. The feedback is incredible. Wanna punch something as hard as possible and it translate directly into the game? Gorn is the game for you. But uh...Make sure your play space is clear. I punched a door on accident and couldn't move my finger for a day. 10/10 Door Punching Simulator. Ripping heads off has never felt better.

Note: I have played Boneworks, Alyx, Saints and Sinners, and Blade and Sorcery. None of them have the same 1:1 feedback like Gorn.

This is a must have for your VR collection. Its different enough from Until you fall and Super hot to fit its own little thrill. The gore is exquisite and satisfying and can be turned off in the case of kids playing. There are a lot of weapons and different ways to kill and of course and arcade-style endless mode.

In contrast with Until you fall which can be played with minimal space, Gorn requires more space. I found that enough space to turn around in 360 degrees with your arms out is enough for solid gameplay.

Not going to sugarcoat this game, its a basic tech demo of a game and nothing more to it. But Its a really good game to vent some stress and anger to. While that last line is more of a personal line, its still fun game with lots of weapons, a somewhat of a story, and boss weapons to use and a lot things you can do to change things up.

Get the game if you're bored and or if you got some extra money in the pocket.

I enjoy slaughtering these buff fighters, which includes, slicing some legs off along with there arms and head. Smashing them to literally nothing.
Super fun game anyone with VR should def play it :)

- Pro: Ragdoll effect, Beating, Slicing, Slaughtering, Punching, Smashing, Stabbing, Dismembering buff fighters is fun.

- Con: Movement controls are absolutely terrible, though is easily fixed in movement options.

There are moments where this game really shines like piercing weapons, the bow mechanics and slicing enemies in half with one swing. But in between the SUPER clunky duel wielding weapons, the forced gimmicks like the crab claws and the fact the weapons are made of fucking rubber just ruined it for me.

I really get it tho; They are made of rubber for feedback reasons, but it really works against the player having the weapons bouncing off flesh like cardboard. Just really frustrating most of the time. The only major positive take away is the locomotion system which works really well, but a shame everything else is so naff.

Also the last level is BS and everyone knows it. I have a hard time recommending it at full price.

The weapons feel rubbery, the physics are very messy.

VR-Review on a Oculus Rift

VR Games tend to have a lot of influx of solely arena and shooting gallery based games. I tend to avoid these mainly because they feel like a cheap cashgrab and have barely any gameplay to offer and dont stimulate me enough especially if you have already played a couple of games. To a certain extent i would have applied this to gorn aswell but there are certain things in this game that make it great and bad at the same time.

Gameplay
Gorn offers an interestening decapatation system . You can cut or rip off limbs and armor pieces can fly off of enemies. What i like is that most arenas, or bosses offer stages that have mostly some kind of twist to it. Mostly a new weapon.
Enemy variety is only there to a certain extent, except bosses and later on giant enemies they only differenciate themself by having different armor.

The combat itself is fun especially if you use short weapons, like short swords, and hammers. In order to stab properly you need to be in a big open room to be able to comfortable move and stab around in your room.

I really hated how wobbly weapons are. This is to a certain extent good, giving you weapon feedback without really taking the control out of your hands by making the weapon just either penetrate walls or stop before this. My problem is that i dislike how this affects combat, making it hard to aim especially when using two handed weapons. They flail around like being a morning star. On contrast this effect was really great on the staffs or morning stars which work around on being like rubber.

Bosses are mostly a joke, i found myself only troubled during the last two or three bosses.

VR with Rift and controls
While the controls itself work totally fine, you basically only have to grab with a button, swing with your hands and move, the moving system is what i kind of dislike. Moving is by pressing a button and making a really weird pulling motion with both hands. You can add the option to use the left stick to move, which i found definetly more to my liking but it kind of breaks the game by making it, except the last bosses at tops, just plain easy.

Doing it without is quite impossible due to the sheer amount of space the game otherwise needs as you need to sometimes physically move. Unless you got an empty room just for VR this should work fine. In addition to that i definetly would recommend to buy an extention cable for your VR system.

Sound
Some developer was busy developing his own language for the game. Which in itself is hilarious but doesnt really make much sense when the person who is talking the most time to your, the king, is talking in regular english.
Sound effects are great, especially if you hit armor giving you great feedback .

Story
Apparently there is some story about you and a prisoner but i couldnt seem to trigger the next dialogue nor was i inclined to do the various challenges the game offered to maybe unlock everything it has.

Conclusion
This game is a good way to show your friends how VR feels like but when coming over the inital whoaa stage and going into gameplay there are a lot of things i like and dislike over this game. For what it offers its definetly not overpriced compared to what other VR games want. The combat feels great especially with the graphical and sound impact the game has but the depth and the unimmersive /weird usage of the wobbling weapons it definetly has its huge downsides.

I played for 6 minutes. When I entered the arena I had to choose either to be a coward or to raise my hand, I smashed my ceiling lamp. After 3 minutes, a gladiator came towards me, I fell backwards over my TV. I'll give it another try after replacing the damaged stuff.

In the first 5 hours so far the following:Nearly broke a window, and cracked my middle finger in doing so.Hyper extended every muscle in my back and shoulders.Threw up from motion sickness.10/10 Don't change a thing, it's perfect.

Fun game, but be prepared. You need quite a large and clear VR space in order to play this game without the constant fear/reality of smashing your hand/controller into a wall/bookshelf.

VERDICT:
GORN is a great way to blow off some steam or to have a physical workout, there's a high chance you might smash your fist into something that isn't your enemies but it's well worth the risk! The campaign is short but there's plenty to do afterwards, like mastering the arts of every weapon or finding new ways to rip your enemies limbs off! The stages are pretty straight forward apart from the final level where you have to use the crowd to throw off the king, It's pretty damn hard but well worth the reward. It's a cheapish game with hours of fun, just be careful of your surroundings.
Total Score = 78/100.

Great game with a diverse set of weapons.

Just wish that you could pick up the enemies when they are conscious with your bare fists.

Other than that, its a great game and a definite buy for anyone new to VR.

Yesterday I had the most fun,
bashing in heads, ripping them off, just completely destroying them. the way the sword sliced into them or the way you can throw bodies at others to knock them out. super satisfying.

then I went home and played some gorn. that was fun I guess. 9/10

Do not play this game if you care about your controllers. My husband punched the ceiling so many times getting TOO into this game that he had to go buy a whole repair kit and fix one of our controllers because of it. He is now temporarily banned from playing Gorn, for having too much fun.

The best things about this game are: You have to move your feet! You have to plan your strategy for attack and defensive posturing. The variety of weapons. The workout. Everytime you play, you not only move around in the VR arena, but your feet also want to move because of the action all around you. Be careful, I've punched the real walls frequently! Oh Ya - Plan on taking a shower afterwards.

There is nothing to this game besides the arena fighting, which is brain dead boring. Only buy this game if you're an absolute beginner to vr, there is nothing here for you if you already have games like Blade & Sorcery or Boneworks.

This game is really fun and a surprisingly nice stress reliever. Just remember that you absolutely NEED a wide open area to play this game in. You 100% will break something if you play it in a small area. I broke my poster frame and also punched my TV (which still works luckily) while playing Gorn. The game is super fun but me mindful of your surroundings while you're playing!!

This game is disturbingly fun. After playing just 5 minutes, I bet you end up on some FBI watch list; but it's worth it. If any future employer sees that you've played this, you may not get the job; but will you really care? Not in slightest. You'll just have more time to play GORN, and that's all that matters.
