Als aller erstes: Es macht unglaublich Spaß !

Ich bin eigentlich ein MMO und MOBA Spieler, habe jedoch so ziemlich jedes Fighting Game in Steam in meiner Bibliothek. Bisher habe ich Fighting Games immer nur Casual gespielt, aber bei GG Strive bleib ich einfach hängen....

Die Motivation besser zu werden, Stunden im Training zu verbringen und Combos zu lernen, macht einen GG wirklich leicht.

Ich kann beim besten willen eigentlich keinen wirklichen, negativen Punkt finden... also eine eine klare Kaufempfehlung für alle, die 2D-Fightern etwas abgewinnen können !

Story Mode: Gorgeous In-Depth story and a treat for anyone who played the previous games story modes.
Mission Mode: Explains everything FG related. Teaches you the basics, advanced and GG Strive specific techniques, even how to counter certain characters.
Training Mode: Has a lot of options to train many scenarios.
Online Mode: Best Netcode I have ever played thank you ArcSys.
Online Lobbys: Man, it fucking sucks, but whatever.

Conclusion,
Probably the best Fighting Game I have ever played. At today of this writing, It released 3 weeks ago and everyone is still shit, so you have time to discover new shit and learn with everyone.

LETS ROCK!!!!

This isn't a game, but a rock album that comes with a 4 hour game movie, a fishing game, and, if you get bored, a fighting game. ArcSysWorks has done exceptionally well with Strive, and I hope to keep seeing new characters and season passes being added to the game.

i need to write a review! I had no idea a fighting game could be so freaking cool and fun! I have 41 now, played a lot of fighting games in my teens, then once 1998 came out i got into RTS gaming, stayed up to this point, tried to play SF4 but didn't had fun, For some reason i got the steam promotion in my screen and went to google it. A have been playing the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game since then. Still having input problems using the Xbox analogic controller, so i will think if i persevere to learn to use it properly or get a gamepad. (arcade controller is out of question as i play a lot at work and it is too big.)

ARCSYS recently stated that just now they ackownledge the problem and its investigating, but i still can't recommend this game to players in south america until the problem is totally solved

Since this recent Baiken patch, i could connect into the game without problems and play online, but it seems that are still a large portion of other players from South America that still have problems connecting into the game, so i will maintain my review as a advice

Guilty Gear Strive is easily one of the greatest fighting games I've ever experienced.
The amazing visuals and booming soundtrack draw you in and the great roster and combos keep you coming back for more.

10/10 would Volcanic Viper again.

Heaven or Hell

Introduction

I have been a long-time fan of the Guilty Gear series ever since I started playing Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. And despite I myself never really being able to grasp the controls of most fighters and only being decent at best, I loved playing them. With the release of Guilty Gear Strive (GGS), I was looking forward to seeing what the series had in store next. The game has a much easier control scheme than the previous games, which had controls that were tough as nails making the series niche. With the release of GGS, newcomers can get a feel for how the game plays with its simpler controls and veterans will like the deep creative gameplay the series is known for.

Pros and Cons

The story is very interesting
Fantastic fighting game mechanics for beginners and veterans alike
An amazing roster of characters to choose from, with more coming along the way
Lots of online content for you to enjoy.
One of the best soundtracks that I have heard in each and every stage
Updated character models with some looking much better than they were in GGXrd

Cons

The story plays out like an anime, with no gameplay or anything, and personally is not my style
I find that there is a lack of single-player content
You can’t rematch people if your rank changes

Story

Three weeks after the previous entry Rev 2 and the Universal Will incident, the story starts out with I-No. She is breaking into the former St. Maximus prison at Illyria Castle to see Ariels. I-No then extracts the mysterious Happy Chaos from her, who has two badass revolvers and his very own car.

Meanwhile, in America, That Man (yes, that's his name) surrendered to the United States government and wants to be in the next G4 Summit meeting as he intends to erase himself, this book called the Tome of Origin and Sol Badguy from the world. Sol, who is with Jack-O Valentine, is asked by Ky Kiske to join in on the meeting, however, decides to go on a vacation instead. They run into Axl Low, who warns them that something bad will happen.

That's all I can say about the story of GGS, it's packed with content and is enjoyable for those who like the GG lore as I do. The story is not for everyone though, as it has a certain style to it, which I will explain.

The story plays out just as a story, like an anime and such. There is no gameplay and I myself am not really used to this style of story, when I want to play a game, I want to play a game. I don’t want to just see a story with no gameplay attached to it and I have played story-heavy games but they tend to have some sort of gameplay element to them. However, that’s not to say that some people won’t enjoy the way the story is presented, I have found that some do like the style choice. I guess you could say it’s more on personal preference than anything.

Gameplay

There are a total of 15 characters for you to choose from and at the time of this review three DLC characters have come out, with Baiken coming out next year in January. There will be characters for you to pick up and play like Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, and May as examples. If you want some characters that do require a bit of skill to play, then I recommend Happy Chaos and Zato-1. I’ll even throw Nagoriyuki in as he has this skill called Blood Rage where he sacrifices 60% of his health to do extra damage, making him a risk/reward kind of character.

I will say that the complex characters have more interesting mechanics to them that make them unique. Take Zato-1 for example, he uses his alter ego Eddie to attack, making him a puppet-based character. So, you are essentially playing as two characters. Happy Chaos uses his gun in order to do his combos and you have to focus on two gauges while playing him. The ammo on the gun and the focus meter on it, which makes him one of the hardest characters to play as but also one of the most unique ones that I have seen in a fighting game in some time.

Also, for those who are like me and know their GG lore, Anji Mito is playable after a long hiatus

There is a lot to learn with the characters you play as and mastering them is one of the hardest parts of the game. However, as long as you are having fun and are enjoying yourself, you can have a good time with almost any character no matter how hard they may be. It's up to you on how you want to play and that's what matters at the end

My only issue with GGS from a single-player point of view is that there is a lack of single-player content. There is only really an Arcade mode and I suppose training in fights against the CPU. However, that’s it, most of the fun is online. Most people will probably only go there but for those who just want to play on their own, you may want to look elsewhere.

Online

Online mode is where you will most likely be spending your time and has a few things you can do. You can make your very own custom avatar that you can use to interact with the players in the lobby and it comes with many cosmetics you can get by playing the fishing minigame. You can even customize your own lobby room when you invite your friends for private matches.

When fighting random people, you will be assigned a rank and you can rank up by beating people in the matches you play. The higher the rank, the better your opponents may be, and they will know the ins and outs to the character you are playing as, especially in top-ranked areas.

The only issue I have with online is that when you rank up or down during a match, you can’t finish the game and are kicked out. I wish you could finish the game with your opponent before the game shows you your new rank but oh well.

Soundtrack

GGS has one of the best soundtracks that I have heard in gaming, in recent years. Picking my all-time favorite is hard, I like the metal theme that every song has to them all. However, the five that stood out to me had to be Play the Hero, Trigger, Find Your One Way, Drift, and Armor-Clad Faith. There are many more that I can list but it would be a long one, it's just that good, all the songs are on Spotify if you are interested in listening to them.

Graphics and Performance

GGS is really beautiful, and I personally think it’s one of the best-looking fighting games I have seen in a long time. I also think some of the character redesigns are much better than they were in Rev 2, especially I-No. I tested the game on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Quad-Core Processor 3.50, and 16 GB of RAM. The game runs at a solid 60 FPS and I experienced no issues performance-wise.

Final Verdict

If you are someone who is new to GG or are experienced with the series, then look no further than GGS. It has the tools to teach newer players how to play the game and people are looking for that GG feel from the previous entries, then this game has it all. I highly recommend it and it’s one of the best fighting games to come out in 2021.

One of the best fighting games that released in years with a very refreshing new gameplay and probably the best netcode I have experienced so far in any games.

Positives:
+ One of the best rollback netcode implementations.
+ Super awesome soundtrack.
+ Outstanding visuals.
+ Tons of mods are made by the community.
+ Brings new mechanics like wall break and revamps the game and characters movesets and move properties and their look a lot compared to previous series, so the game feels very fresh and new, even when compared to other 2D fighters,
+ Even old characters feel very refreshing and new due to reason stated earlier.
+ New awesome character redesigns.
+ Good character cast.
+ Easy training while you search for a match option, ranked lobbies, then park lobbies for casual play and also private lobbies.
+ Story mode is well done with stunning visuals, cool action scenes, nice lore and interesting characters.
+ Good tutorial mode and other mechanics and character specific stuff explanation modes.
+ You can fish to get items.
+ Lobby housing customization will be added soon.
+ Has Japanese, English and Korean voiceover, and many other languages for in-game language.

Negatives:
- Rarely it might kick you out of training mode to the ranked lobbies while searching for a match because of some error.
- Still takes about a 1:30 minutes to communicate with servers on the title screen when you start the game.
- Instant Kills are not present in this title.
- Some characters might feel a bit too strong while not being hard to play.

FIX THE CONNECTIVITY ISSUES, AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT GET RID OF THE OVERLY LONG SCREEN FOR CHANGING FLOORS, JUST PUT A DAMN NOTIFICATION ON YOUR WIN/LOSS SCREEN

This is beyond a joke for such a high profile game, you can't go an hour online with this game (which still takes an age to log in btw) without getting booted off or losing connection or just going forever without a game because the lobby has bugged while you're in training.

This is one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with technical issues in a game

Excellent fighting game, every character is unique and fun. Matches go a lot faster than in Xrd because of higher damage/lower health on every character which can be a positive or a negative depending on how you like to play.

The most accessible Guilty Gear ever, with the best implemented netcode you could ask for.

There had been a few issues with the lobbies and logging in, but those have recently been improved. What's left is a fast, frenetic, fun fighter that you can play online with anyone on the same side of the planet as you, perfectly.

Netcode is super good
Characters are unique
Character designs are awesome looking
Graphically the game is stunning
Roman cancel is amazing

Overall I think this new instalment of the Ape Escape franchise was worth the wait, 9/10

This game is doing so many things right. I hope it marks a turn for fighting games as a whole.
- Lobbies based on performance
- Pushing for more resets than long combos
- forcing longer combos to have heavy hits to start
- simplifying inputs
- polished to a degree few fighting games are.

Incredible gameplay BUT the lobby system is broken, you can't make player matches, and finding your friends is an incredible chore. It took me an hour to set up a match with a friend on steam. Playing with friends should be a basic feature, not a hoop to jump through.

First time entering a fighting game just as it starts up. All I can say is: Do not worry about your skill level. YOU WILL HAVE FUN PLAYING THIS GAME and fun translates to getting better! There will be frustrating moments but these are temporary! Dolphins are forever!

Jokes aside though and in completely honesty, Strive is in a mixed position right now
with 2 major issues which i ll delve further below.

The game itself runs more than great, no drips or whatsoever on my mediocre setup.
The Character roster , although small (as usuals in any arcsys game at early stages)
offers a great variety in different playstyles.
The combos routes, while really short & small , are accessible and doable even by day 1 players with a small effort,
making the game all about the right reads and not about who's grinded more in the lab (although it's always good to lab).
For the FG vets , I'd say it feels like SF3/5 in terms in combos, very footsie oriented in the best sense.
RC (Roman Cancel) mechanic shines here, having many uses while being easily comprehensible.

The Rollback network (when you actually manage to connect) works Stellar, it's amazing and it really feels like playing locally!!

I haven't touched the story yet so i don't have an opinion, but judging from the trailers/cinematics and seeing how it follows the XRD recipe in a better scheme , i believe it's gonna be more than worth it.

The OST on the other hand, while at first it kicked a bit weird cause instead of pure hard-rock/metal , it has some POP directions which are not of my taste , still got Daisuke's high spirit and great shredding
PLUS
you can unlock with in game currency all Oldies But Goldies OST from all previous Guilty Gears
and listen when smashing peeps and buttons.

So whats the major issues?! I seriously don't know what's the biggest slap in the face.
The fact that the servers were and are a hot mess (They already threw a maintenance for server capacity @day 3 but still needs further fixed)
or the fact THAT THERE ARE NOT INSTANT KILLS ON STRIVE!
I mean seriously , for real..magad..geez !!
One of the biggest trademarks (alongside the music) of the games was not implemented?
Imagine Mortal Kombat without Fatalities or Street fighter without ... Ryu?

I was seriously this close of giving the game a negative just for this but I've read that they'll add missing features in the short future so , we'll wait and see.

All in all, although i am a fan of big & technical combos , i like the direction Strive has taken and the fightin core is there.
Implement Instant Kills for the sake of your veteran old school fans , fix the server issues , [spoiler]give me Johnny as a playable character asap, [/spoiler] and we're talking about this generations top Fighting game.

Latest entry in one of the most fun fighting game franchises.
And its a blast.

The changes that where made are not taking away the fun.
They are making the game more accessible for new players.

The game looks and plays fantastic.
The soundtrack is on point. Every new song you hear, you bang your head to.

Story mode is like always great and will break your head at times.
Its a phenominal title with a weird lobby system.
But the good of this game just pushes the negative points out.

Guilty Gear Strive is a must play.
HEAVEN OR HELL !!

Enjoy the game !
