Über diesen Sim kann man lang und viel schreiben, aber entweder man liebt es oder man hasst es.
Die beste Fahrphysik und die einzige Sim die wirklich die komplette Hardware dazu nutzt das Gefühl so authentisch wie nur möglich zu machen.
RFactor 2 kommt da nicht ganz mit, und ACC ist in meinen Augen nur was für Grafikverliebte, aber der Rest vor allem das FFB ist so ziemlich das schlechteste was zur Zeit überhaupt in Rennspielen und Simulationen verwendet wird.
Also iRacing ist für mich die klare Nr. 1.

wofür Zahlt man im Monat geld nur um nicht fahren zu können

Ist nicht meins. Die Grafik ist nicht gut, der Sound so-la-la. Auf den Rookie-Servern sind anscheinend nur Crashkids unterwegs. Autos und Strecken sind sehr teuer, und die Mitgliedschaft ist auch nicht ohne. Lasergescannte Strecken gibt es in anderen Sim´s auch. Dort kann man sie allerdings zum Festpreis kaufen.

iRacing is for real sim racers! The subscription is definitely worth it if you want to invest a little time in this game. If you are a casual driver, this game is hardly worth it.

The license system I find gives a good driver field and good exciting races. I already loved NR2003 from Papyrus and the guys picked up right where NR2003 left off.

Here, however, you need a steering wheel and, as I said, time.
Great game, an absolute recommendation.

Quite expensive when you start from scratch (about 12 euros for one car and 15€ for one track) but its definitely worth it and you dont have to buy everything. Focus on 1-2 series and you are good to go. You need a lot of practice to be competetive and if you mastered your first 2 classes you can think about racing another one. I tried out almost all sims and nothing beats iRacing when it comes to realism and online racing. Most races are very clean (except Rookies) and the community is nice and helpful.

Für jedem zu empfehlen der auf Simulation und Realismus steht. Die Mitgliedsgebühren von 100 Euro pro Jahr und das man die benötigten Strecken kaufen muss, schreckt erstmal ab. Jedoch wer erstmal alles hat wird es Lieben.

Ich spiele dieses Produkt mit einer Oculus Rift S und mit einen Fanatec CSL.

Natürlich gibt es weitaus schickere Rennsimulationen, doch für mich ist iRacing der Primus, und in Sachen Ovalrennen ohnehin unerreicht. Natürlich nerven das Abosystem, die irrsinnig teuren Strecken/Autos, doch die Rennerfahrung, sowie die (größtenteils) tolle Community machen das auf jeden Fall wieder wett.

The game is ok, be aware that they will bill you threw iracing for membership then steam will charge you again for the same subscription and wont refund. For this simple reason i will never play this game again,

Way too expensive. Great game otherwise, top tier online racing simulator - really best in its class. Cant recommend due to monthly sub AND having to pay for tracks and cars. Starting off you have access to only a few different races, formula VEE, MX5 cup and a couple oval's.

I would be willing to pay a higher monthly price if it didint mean having to buy the tracks and cars. Or buy the tracks and cars and not pay the monthly sub. Deffinitly not both.

I have easily over 100hrs in this, Steam launches the iracing launcher which doesnt work with steamUI.

Fun, but like many here have said way too expensive. I'd rather pay a higher monthly subscription rate, than have to pay $12 for every car and $15 for every track. On top of the exorbitant cost the graphics and UI look like they come directly from a PS3 game. Still a fun game but cost and graphics do not allow me to recommend this game or give it a positive review.

For racing immersion, this is absolutely the game for you! Run Assetto Corsa Competizione for the looks, Automobilista too, but I come back to this week in, week out, nothing gets me focused and shaking after a race like iRacing.

The physics, contact detection, network stability management are by far the best in breed and the rating system and pairing is as good as it gets.

On the fence? Go find a free trial and try it out. Most of you won't look back.

If you have enough money and really love sim racing, iracing is what you are looking for. However, the cars that you get at the start are a joke. You have to pay twelve dollars for a car (not to mention tracks).

While the gameplay is good, the pricing model is what kills this game for me. I understand having to pay for the monthly subscription, or the cars and tracks... but not both. I feel like ~10$ month should supply you with all their content, or there should be no monthly payment and you should have to purchase cars and tracks.

Maybe they could make it so higher level series are paid while the lower level stuff is free to play or something, but the pricing model really does make this game difficult to recommend and it dissuades people like myself that are new to the game. Again, I am more than happy to pay, but they need to stop double dipping their customers.

Great game, all the content is high quality especially the Mercedes W12 F1 car but I can't recommend it because the cost of the iRacing subscription and the cost of an individual piece of content is just too expensive. Even worse in my opinion is the fact that if you buy a car or track and then cancel your subscription you can't even access that content you bought and use it in a single player mode. You should be able to use the content you bought without a subscription active even if it is just in a solo track session without AI.

iRacing is a fantastic platform! After you escape the hell of Rookies, you have some of the best drivers, cleanest racers, and fiercest competition I've ever seen in sim racing. Of course sometimes you get the bad race but that's part of the fun.

PROS:
-Great Racing System
-Amazing Physics
-Good Responsibility System
-Great Community
-Strong Competition
-Not very system taxing

CONS:
-Price / Amount of 'base' content
-Slight inconsistencies in oversteer and catching a slid (at least in my opinion)

Best racing game there is, no other game comes even close. You can't find as competitive and clean sim racing anywhere else.

Yes, it's expensive compared to other games, but tbh you should be comparing the price of this sim to real motorsports instead of other games. Sometimes you even get to race real f1/gt/rally drivers if you get lucky and are good enough to enter the highest level races.

Over 20hrs on iRacing so far, over an hour on the Steam launcher (what shows).

Some may scoff at the idea of a subscription-style racing simulator where you pay for a license to cars/tracks instead of owning them outright like DLC, but iRacing is the premier racing simulator for a few reasons.

1. iRacing cars and tracks are incredibly detailed and accurate. Driving on tracks such as Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in F1 2021 vs iRacing shows where EA & Codemasters cut corners (no pun intended).

2. Physics are incredible and provide much more feedback through the wheel than I've experienced on any other driving game. You can truly feel when you begin to lose traction. Even without a direct drive wheel, I still feel in-control until I become overconfident and exceed my skill limits.

3. Safety and Skill ratings in iRacing allow a fair, competitive battle regardless of experience. Incident blame is shared, which means all contact should be avoided. If you happen to get rammed by a bad sport, you can file a protest and report them! Accordingly, clean driving will see your license progress to the next level faster than dirty driving at the limit. Take your time, learn how to control your vehicle, don't worry about finishing at the front of the pack until you've learned avoidance techniques.

There's a lot more positives to mention, but I'll keep it brief. If you enjoy QUALITY racing, and have an adequate budget, subscribe to iRacing. There's discount codes online for first time signups that'll get you a better rate than Steam has to offer.

Also, if you bought a new car and track every month, you'd still only be spending $35 including your monthly subscription.

Small price to pay for the best racing simulator program/game on the consumer market.

DO NOT GET IRACING ON STEAM... If you want to renew your subscription you have to wait till the next billing cycle, cant just click apply or update payment method. So if you want to play right that very moment well your out of luck, gotta wait however many days before you can play again. So unluckly for me I have to wait I solid 4 days to play a game I would like to play now.

Pro:
Some of the best racing experiences I have had in a sim.
Great balanced competition.
Subscription per mo pay.
Good servers and excellent competition balancing.

Con:
Very Limiting with the regular off the shelf package. Don't believe the videos. They are showing you about $1000 in pay to play add-ons vehicles and tracks.
Subscription per mo pay, trolls get punted and locked out of competition.

I'm going to start with what a lot of people have issues with, and that's the price. iRacing is a great game, the pricing, however, is extortionate.

Now you might be thinking that £8.99/month isn't so bad, and you would be right, it isn't. The problem is, that £8.99/month only gets you access to the Rookie series. Thereafter, you have to pay $11.95 per car and $14.95 per track.

You do not need all of the cars and tracks but, using the GT3 series as an example, so for me to participate in this seasons GT3 series, I would need to at minimum, buy one qualifying car for $11.95 and 12 tracks at $14.95 each ($179.40). And that's just for one series, if you want to participate in more than one, add another $11.95 for the car and $14.95 for tracks you haven't purchased yet.

As you can see, it does get expensive, however, you can spread the cost out as it's one track per week for each series.

With that said, despite the fact that it pisses me off you need BOTH a subscription AND need to buy cars and tracks seperately, I would still recommend iRacing - though, only if you enjoy multiplayer.

iRacing is by far the best multiplayer racing sim available. Races run at set times every hour and I've found there are always people racing. You'll have to ignore the Steam statistics as the majority of people use iRacing outside of Steam.

You have a safety rating and iRating which promotes clean racing and you will be matched with racers with similar skill level to you. It's great for multiplayer racing but as above, it's just unfortunate you have to pay for literally everything outside of Rookies at $11.95 and $14.95 a pop.

It gets cheaper long term as you no longer need to keep buying cars and tracks because you've already gone bankrupt by purchasing them all.

It is an extremely fun game though...

I cant enjoy this any more with glitchy safety rating system and the need to buy every cars and tracks every week in order to play ranked races. very expensive, not worth the money. I honestly enjoy other racing simulators like AC, ACC, AMS 2, ,PC2, RF2 way more then this. You can get each of them with full DLCs for what you would pay for 3 cars/tracks from iRacing. BTW I already put many many hours in iRacing but my play hours in steam is not accurate as I used to play it directly form the launcher not form steam app.

Playtime: 100hrs (Steam doesn't show real hours because it only launches a game launcher).

Summary: Insultingly expensive, huge lack of content, overrated rating system, lack of servers/sessions, bad graphics, good physics (but still a mile behind ACC, AMS2 and RF2), exploitative racing series layouts forcing people to either not race with content they own, or spend $200 on a single series for like 8 tracks.

First year cost of racing: over $300 at least, plus the $10/month subscription fee.

Here's how iRacing races work: There are no 'single' races - unlike most other games - every race is part of a 'series'. Every series usually has 12 races per 'season', with 3 seasons per year. In a season, you race usually 12 tracks, which rotate every week or two, while the cars stay the same the entire season. Series usually only allow 2 to 3 cars.

What effect does this have on racing?

Well, it means that when you hop on to race, you're required to race that same racetrack for 1-2 weeks... which gets really repetitive and boring.

Oh, you don't own that racetrack? Well, looks like you're not racing until the series goes to a track you own. At 12 tracks per season, usually 11 are paid, and at $15/track, you're looking at $40 (subscription), $165 for 11 paid tracks, $10 per car for a SINGLE SERIES SEASON COST of $215........ $215 for 3 months of mediocre racing and outdated graphics.

As you graduate to higher license classes (supposedly better racing), you're expected to drop another +$215 per 3 months on that new car and series tracklist, since your car will not carry over into that new series, and the tracks usually don't either.

What bothers me the most is that iRacing PURPOSELY makes the tracklists super inconvenient so you HAVE TO PAY out of desperation to race... since you're already paying for a subscription... and paid for the car... and don't get to race if you don't drop the EXTRA $15/week (for a track) to race.

It feels like a legitimate scam, and the community is full of toxic anti-consumer consumers who will defend anything the developers do.

I have never played a game with this needy of internet requirements. Any change in your internet and you can no longer play. If you have a netgear router you actually cannot play at all. This problem has been around for years. I can run any game with little to no ping or latency. I have been a subscriber to iracing for about 3 years and it is getting to the point where I am just done with it. 3 years of off and on playability due to internet connection that only shows in this game. Right now I currently can't practice and when I race I get about 5 minutes before the server just randomly starts hating my connection and I get booted. Definitely needs to fix this stuff and focus more on connection issues, unlike they have for the past few years.

First I couldn't play because it said I didn't have a subscription. Tried to refund it but the game doesn't actually close when you close it so my 15 minutes showed as 2 hours and 8 minutes. Refund request was denied so I thought screw it I'll give it another shot. Contacted iRacing support who allegedly fixed the subscription issue but now it won't open saying content file is locked.

The few minutes I did play made it seem like a microtransaction loaded game that requires a subscription on top of it. If you're a die hard sim racer with a full kit then maybe this is a great game, if you just want to casually do some racing STAY AWAY. Worst purchase I've ever made on steam out of hundreds and hundreds of games.

When it comes to sim racing nothing comes close to what iRacing gives you. Sure you have to spend hundreds of dollars to have the content you want, but it is absolutely worth it. With new cars and locations added every few months this is the best racing game out there. Plus maybe one day your local track will be featured and you can rip it up just like the real life counterparts. 20/10 stars.

This is an expensive racing sim due to the monthly/yearly fees along with the cost of the cars and tracks, but it's unlike the others in that it's very precise. It's also not the best looking sim but it feels absolutely wonderful and that's much more important with a sim. I also play Gran Turismo Sport regularly with friends on PS4 as well as some Assetto Corsa on PC and this feels leagues better.
What sets this apart from other sims though is the multiplayer aspect. This is the sim you want if you want good competition. Since it's more expensive, you get more serious drivers so they usually take it more seriously and (usually) don't just intentionally ram you off the track for their advantage. Since it costs a lot of money and since their ranking system locks people out of content if they drop in rank, people want to race fair. This is the place to be if you want to drive and can't afford real racing.

It's not perfect but it's definitely the best in terms of content and multi-player. Join a league and meet some new interesting people who you'd regret not meeting. I have way more than 87 hours but for some reason steam stopped tracking my hours at the start of January 2021.

Don't subscribe from steam store. Go to iracing.com. You are gonna be stuck with using your steam id every time for transactions, and steam does a bad job in managing the updates mid season.

Iracing IMO is as close as you can come in racing simulation, my chief complaint is that they will not allow you to use every car or track you have purchased with (AI) I purchased Suzuka and a Dallara IR18, but neither are able to be used in AI just a fraction of the tracks and cars can be used for some reason? I have other sims that allow every track and car with better graphics all for one time purchase price. Also I took my iracing off steam and log in directly to iracing to race now, would like to see more games give direct access. Like you can't upload videos from personal URL and not use Utube.

This is the simulator for the motor sport enthusiasts, the subscription fee and protest system of iRacing is able to filter out people that don't really take racing seriously. If you want clean races, you just have to pay the high price.

Update: Well after another 30 hours I would say it is not entirely clean people still crashes and you get frustrated from time to time, but the tendency of malicious wrecking is still way lower than simcade like GT Sport. So I am all in iRacing.

I can buy cars tracks, and any other video game with my steam wallet, but I can't pay my subscription? WTF? Fuck you STEAM. STEAM sells those subscription cards at walmart and longs so why can't I use it to pay my subscription? Oh, it's because STEAM RECOMMENDS I should buy the game from iracing instead of STEAM? Every time I buy something from STEAM I get fracked over. I can't renew my Iracing subscription here, so I have to go reinlist at the iracing web site which means I lose all my cars and tracks I paid for. Because I paid STEAM I have to go buy them all (over $100) again. There's no way in hell I'm going to spend all that money A-FUCKING-GAIN!!! It was only then that I found in the store page FAQ or WTF that STEAM recommends I buy the game directly from Iracing rather than STEAM, WHICH YOU SHOULD PRINT ON THE STORE PAGE SO PEOPLE CAN KNOW BEFORE GIVING YOU THEIR MONEY YOU FRACKING THIEF! I thoroughly enjoy this game. It allowed me to make a connection with other people that enjoy motorsports as much as me. The racing is wonderful and it's a game makes you realize that you really do need to practice to become better at it, it's a very rewarding game when you realize that you've made it to a point where you can do some side by side racing without crashing.

Downsides
It can be very expensive, and very tempting to spend the money on it. I know that I definitely shouldn't have spend the money on the game as I really only run the cars that I enjoy in each series, but I do recommend purchasing tracks, as each season changes them up and you might run into one again. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND ALL THE MONEY ON THE GAME!!!

Setups cost money if you don't want to make them, and you often have to run many processes in the background if you want to have a clean experience and actually know how much to fuel up the car during a longer race.

Regardless of all these expenses, the racing and how well the connection to Europeans is from the US is amazing, and I honestly would consider the start of this wonderful journey into the world of iRacing.

Easy Review - The best racing sim in the world for serious sim racers. FULL STOP.

and yes... its BLOODY expensive... and yet for some stupid reason i keep sending them my money... so must be amazing. Damn if only someone else could remotely match it for cheaper.

Don't even start though unless you plan to drop at least $300 into it in the first few months, and If you don't already have a proper sim rig, I would say look elsewhere. Rather spend the money on better gear first of all.

The closest thing to being a real life race car driver, but without the insane costs (debatable) and risk of death.
Steam doesn't accurately record playtime... only for a few seconds after you launch it. So, hours of that... you get the idea. Absolutely need a wheel for this game, do not even try with a controller; you will laugh at yourself as the game laughs at you.

Just dont crash in your first race and FINISH, even if it's 10th, you will still get a safety rating increase and on your way out of rookies! (where the fun really begins)

10/10 would qualify in 12th to avoid first corner pileup again.

The game is solid. The subscription provides the tracks and vehicles to participate in all Rookie class ranked races. After that, You have to start looking at which tracks/cars to buy. I haven't spent any money yet at ~30 hours and have been having a blast!

Most authentic racing simulator you'll find on the market. Whether you enjoy NASCAR, IndyCar, Sports Car, or the many other racing series around the world, you'll be matched with similarly skilled players to race wheel to wheel amongst competitors around the world. Safety Rating and iRating, although sometimes flawed, heavily encourages clean and close competition while discouraging reckless driving. You'll also occasionally run into real life professional drivers in the higher ranks practicing for real events and racing for fun. This is geared towards more serious / avid racers with racing wheel and pedal setups as the realism / pricing model reflects that. If you're looking for a casual and forgiving racing game, there are other options.

Be careful! If you are thinking of renewing your subscription, make sure you have less than 2 hours of total playtime. There is no confirmation message. If you have a credit card on file they will charge you as soon as you click a subscription option. I tried to cancel but it would not let me. I cant even log into the game because it doesn't register my subscription. I tried to get a refund twice and was denied both times. This game takes your money with no regard to your issues. I cant even log into the game and they still wont refund me because I have 3 hours played from last year... I am never touching this POS game ever again!

Few things you need to know going in... Don't bother qualify towards the top because more often than not you will be spun out T1. Driver etiquette is so hit and miss.. Sometimes you get great races and intense battles. Others, you press someone to force a mistake and instead of a clean recovery they will force their way onto the track and more than likely boot you off. So Pass at your own risk.... If you punt someone off the track you should be instantly black flagged but you are not, so there is no real penalty for driving like an A$$ . Safety rating is not strict enough. More often than not after a race i wonder why i even pay for this.

Prime example of a race:
Qualified in first with a .5 gap to second.
Off the line is clean.. No one gets a break away.. T1 fifth place dives the corner with no brakes sending me into the wall.
Fight back from last to fourth. Tight behind 3rd for 2 laps. Applied pressure hoping for a mistake. He makes a mistake taking him off track.. Instead of recovering he tries to rejoin by flooring it over a sausage roll to slam into my corner panel spinning me back into a wall going into the last lap. By the time i recovered i was badly damaged and back in last place.... So glad i pay 100 bucks a year plus 100's on cars and tracks.

I have well over 40 hours on this (Steam doesn't track hours when you launch from the UI) so here is my take. This is suppose to be the best racing simulator out there but all you get is Forza lobbies with people playing with controller thinking its funny to block or wreck the leader. IT IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE TAG. You have to spend upwards to $30 if you want a new car and track along with the subscription price just to spend time practicing and qualifying to get wrecked on the pace lap before the race even starts. Until iRacing stops being greedy and starts enforcing stricter rules i'll be playing Project Cars because they have at least some decent races on there without so much of a time waste and its a one time purchase fee. So unless you can find a free league with strict rules or even pay yet again to be in one then there ya go.

100% the best organized match making system in all of sim racing, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Doesn't matter if you're an average racer or an aspiring esport pro... there's enough participants in large number of series where you will get matched up with others near your skill level making it competitive and exciting at any skill level. As someone who can't commit to a scheduled start time for a league week-in/week-out, iRacing I can always hop on to and find a good race.

However, it's not cheap. You must understand this as a hobby and something you want to participate in (like paying fees for a golf membership or local men's basketball league). If you have the time and urge to race with others, you'll almost certainly be able to justify the dollar value.

Guess you can tell by the drop off in my other games hrs that iRacing is and by far my latest go to., I have been subbed for the last 5 months and put a lot of time in.Cost is not the most value for money to some but with the bonus's for buying more and more it does become more cost affordable. Target what class and tracks that a season your interested in required and start with the bare bones if money is tight. Try to get into racing in leagues you will find a better level of people that will help you and grow as a driver. Hope to see you out on the paddock.

Crazy expensive. There are many large faults with it, the engine creaks under the weight of every tacked on modern rendering feature, causing the game to become entirely CPU bound on a GTX 1070 or above, even in VR. Special Event race servers will fail as often as they work. Visible gaps in the track allowing you to see the void beyond. Some questionable areas of the simulation, especially in the electronics in GT cars working like a road car. On the other hand, there isn't another game that'll give you the combination of really great (not perfect) physics and really great (not perfect) online racing. And you can bump into real drivers very often. And if you're into oval racing there's basically nothing else on the market. I'd recommend if you're sure it's something you want and you've exhausted all other alternatives. If you're just starting out in sim racing, I'd highly recommend grabbing Assetto Corsa Competizione, rFactor 2 or Automobilista instead. Otherwise, see you on the track!

What is iRacing? Note that my 90 hours or so is not a full representation. I have raced more than 600 races just over a year before I used the steam overlay to track my hours. Here it is down and dirty.

Subscription gives you access to a base setup. Eventually you will progress and other series will open up. In order to race in those series, you will need to buy additional cars and tracks. The game is set up where you choose a series or many to compete in. The time period lasts 12 weeks. After that, a new set of tracks are determined.

This is where it can get expensive. If you decide to race in lets say 3 different series, you will need to purchase those tracks and cars you dont have in order to compete in the all 12 weeks. Sure you could hope that some of the free ones are in the 12 weeks, but usually most are not in the free category. Tracks can range around $15 each and cars are $12 each. So if you dont have lets say 6 of the tracks, thats gona cost you $90 more to race in all the events. You dont have to, but if you want to win a championship, well, empty the pocket book. If you dont watch it, you can spend at least $500 very quickly.

You have the option to earn iRacing dollars that can be applied to cars or tracks. You have to finish at least half of a race in 8 out of 12 races for one series and be awarded championship points. You can earn up to 10 dollars per season with a total of 40 bucks a year. You dont get any money for the rookie series though. Its best to apply the money towards the tracks.

In order to be competitive, you really need a steering wheel and brake pedals. Even though you can use a controller, it will be difficult. The cars perform very different than typical racing games. You can race from a seat, but make sure its secure. You dont need a fancy expensive wheel. The Logitech or Thrustmaster will work fine. If you are going to upgrade any part, it should be the pedals. Invest in a pedal set with a load cell at least. Of course this is going to cost you another 200-300 in itself on top of the wheel you bought.

The game will require you to have knowledge on how to set up cars. If you are like me and have none to little, it will be a steep learning curve. While all the cars do have baseline setups that are general and ok, sometimes those set ups dont do well on certain tracks. This is where you need to know how to tweak a car based on your driving style to get the most. Some series are not that dependent to be competitive, but others like the open wheel series, you need to learn set ups. You can pay for a service to get set ups, or ask. Most people will not share since they pay for them. You will find out as you move up the ladder you will reach a car capability limit unless you learn set ups.

Some of the series are very low population. Make sure you check participation before buying a car or track associated with that series. I bought the lotus 49 car wanting to race but turned out this series has very few people race. If you dont get enough people in the race, it is not official and you get no points. The people who do race in this series do not align with my schedule. I have a car that gets no use unless I practice.

You can race alone with the AI. Right now, only a select set of cars can be used to race against the AI. There are no mulit car races, they all have to be the same type of car. Not all the tracks or cars are set up yet to race with AI. There is a pretty decent amount of tracks and a few cars, but again, if depends if you own them. The AI races are something new. You do have the ability to customize the AI. You can make them aggressive, avoid you, cautious, etc. You can also name your AI racers, create a race or season and run it over and over if you choose. Sometimes the AI does not understand how to actually race a track though. The AI has trouble navigating the tracks in certain points. It does not fully understand how to take advantage some chicanes.

The graphics are old and the UI is clunky. The only good thing is the VR. It runs well in VR. It also has buttkicker support. If you add the Buttkicker Gamer 2 in iRacing, it works very well also. Really helps in VR.

The livery for the cars is very limited. Some people use a 3rd party addon called traiding paints since iRacings livery lacks greatly. They dont really care about the looks of the cars or customization.

Half the community are people who act as if they they are better than everyone and a quarter of people who like to race for fun, and another quarter of people who are in between.

One good part is the clean driving, about 80% of the time. While accidents do occur, most drivers respect others and try to avoid touching. This is really due to the fact that a member can file a protest against another member for breaking the sporting code. Breaking the sporting code can get you a written warning, suspension, or even permanent ban from the game. Examples of protests that are reportable, are intentional wrecking, blocking, entering the track when not clear, abusive language, derogatory language, cussing, sending nasty grams to members on the forums, calling out people on the forums, etc. Treat the racing as if if its real life and you could die from a crash and you will never get reported.

Part of the community have this belief that if you are being lapped, you should slow down and move out of the way. iRacing sporting code says that it is the responsibility of the faster driver to pass safely. It says the slower or lapped car not to impede. This means dont block the faster car or try and defend. As the slower car you should maintain the racing line, as fast as you normally do. Be consistent. If the other car is truly faster, he or she will pass you safely. Sometimes the faster driver forgets that you too are racing other people. No one should be expected to slow down or move out of the way. This is where the bad half of the community come into play.

So unless you have a thick skin, large wallet, and time, take a pass on this.

DON'T buy iRacing on Steam. Every time your membership is up for renewal there is a problem and support isn't nearly as quick as it is with iRacing.com itself. Save yourself the hassle and wasted time and just buy a membership through the iRacing site itself.

legit sim racing w/o inexperienced drivers crashing into you, or running you off course. it can be kind of pricey though depending on what vehicle/class that you want to drive in, and the tracks that are required as you do have to pay for them.

Ive been a member of iRacing for 10 years, i was here when there were 250 racers online now there are 10,000+ 24/7 Since 2008 and today it is The definitive home of online sim racing.

Sure there are other great sims out there, RF2, ACC, AMS2. Each might do individual things better than iracing....The other sims have rain/wet weather, better graphics. The suspension model on ACC is mildly better. The wet/racing line develop over a race is probably better on RF2. But these are all minor.

However none of the other sims provide a service like iRacing, in the form of races every hour. With a license for safety and a rating for your race ability. Although not a perfect system and certainly more floors in it the more popular iracing has become. But there is no other service that provides the quality of racing iracing does, on the hour every hour wether its 9am, 2pm or 3am.

How expensive the sim is can be off putting to new drivers. But all the content you require for your first couple of seasons and gaining license safety rating are provided for free.

Then most people will total up the price of all the tracks, cars and then quietly go back to another sim.

But what im going to say is. The one track for $14 and the one car will provide so much content. You will never drive the same lap twice (unless your max verstappen) you will never have the same race, you will never drive the corner in exactly the same way. There is so much at play, track temp, wind, tyre temp everything. The one car and track will provide more content than any other game or DLC marked at that price.

No one on this earth has the time to race every car, every series on iracing all of the time.

Ive spent 10 years on the iracing service and its not about racing every car, every track, every series. Its about find 'your' series, car, and racing that. maybe venturing out into other series you find fun. But dont be put off by the price of totalling every track/car up on the service.

Once your up into C class license and wanted to do a full season of F3. The price for all tracks and content for that series is roughly $40-60 but then that is the cost of running entire F3 season for the rest of your days on iracing.

If you run full seasons you will gain $8 per series in iracing credits, so at the end of every season you can pretty much afford new track / car.

Dont be put off by the cost! the first few seasons and series all content is free.

The only good thing about this game is the car and track quality, and the simulation. I recently renewed my subscription for 6 months (payed 56 pounds) and the game said i still had to renew my subscription. I then emailed iRacing, they took a week to reply, gave my game back, but said my subscription started from when I originally payed, which was a week ago at the time. I sent iRacing an email trying to claim the weeks worth of subscription back and they still haven't got back to me.
the online experience is horrible, you get hit by another driver, get a 4x for contact. Also, you get people who take you out and report you, which leads to a ban for 1-4 weeks. You can try to appeal but iRacing don't reply.
very disappointed with how iRacing have treated me through email too. they just fob me off with my problems still yet to be fixed.

Not a cheap game. But you can get the best sim racing experience whether you do oval racing or road racing.

dont invest. they care little about customers after they have your money. they have taken items from me then realized their mistake and put a portion of the money i need to repurchase on because they took wrong thing. So i stuck with stuff i dont want and have pay 150% for stuff i do! the other games look and play better. iRacing grabbed the web address first and won the sim racing marketing sweepstakes. their multiplayer is ok and the sim itself is great for what it does. if other titles had the same following and would do more for oval and spec classes in multi player with some marketing hype and they would crush iracing

Nearly 200 Hours in and still think this Sim is amazing. The community is fantastic and you rarely find a toxic player. The payment system is very fairly priced. At the start you pick which series you would like to focus on, for me it was Road Class. MX5 and Tracks comes included within the price to get you started and it’s very close quarter racing which always keeps the adrenaline flowing. After getting out the Rookies I moved to the skip barber and it’s got to be the most fun I have had racing.

My opinion is try it for the first month at the deal price of £8.99 and pick a series that’s interesting to you. If you don’t enjoy it after a month then cancel your DD no quibble.

I wouldn’t advise trying this without wheel and pedal set.

Iracing is great but use Iracing not steam. steam does not support actively fixing account issues and you will never get ahold of anyone.

Most realistic racing game out. Expensive to buy each car and track but worth it. Playing in VR is the only way to go. Crashing in VR is scary its so realistic and immersive. Very competetive and addicting

Laser scanned cars, laser scanned tracks, dynamic weather, dynamic track, real simulation racing, nothing compares.

But for me the top reason is that their official races are scheduled and the participation is decent. Also with with the license and rating system you are likely to race against even competition against real drivers and race clean. Of course there are stupid people but you can protest intentional wrecks at least. Nothing else exist where you can get true clean races on a regular basis.

if you are looking for a serious sim get into iracing yes it will be expensive but give it a month to try it and continue after that you can always cancel the sub after 2 weeks anyway so just try it and you may stay

This game is like an abusive relationship
-It's expensive
-You have to invest a lot of time into it
-Yells and swear words are a frequent occurrence
-You're not sure if you are really enjoying it
-Everything is your fault

But at the end of the day, you still come back for more.

10/10 would get punted on lap 1 again

why i would recommend: if you want to be a pro and have the best multi in any sim race then THIS IS THE SIM FOR YOU!!!! if you also want to go pro, play leauges then this is also the sim for you!!!!

why i DONT recommend: ITS TO GOD DAMN EXPENSIVE!!!!! you start off with basically nothing and you have to PAY FOR MORE CARS AND TRACKS WHICH ARE $11 - $15 EACH its funny how much this game costs......if this game was for sale for a one time price of like $300 i would still have brought it but i just feel so uneasy paying $12 a month to play this game.........

Tires grip was not felt, can't push on the limit so, not fun pounding laps; some laps when pushing hard is slower than when not pushing, sometimes vice-versa (wut)

Don't get the game if you don't have money. You need money to play the game. Lots of it. Its over $1000 to get every car and track in the game.

I recommend iracing to anyone who loves racing and is ok with spending a bit of money

I have spent around 80 Canadian dollars on this game and that got me 2 cars and 3 track. (bmw m8 gte, mercedes amg gt3, nurburgring combined and Circuit Zolder)

That content isnt that much to keep me on iracing because every week the track changes on the official series and then you cant play anymore unless you pay. But if you do have the money then go ahead! Its a very fun game. Its just very costy.

iRacing is trying to offer a professional grade simulator tool for all levels of drivers to pursue some sort of virtual career.
Their pricing model is aimed towards people who have already spent thousands on a simulator cockpit and can justify spending a few hundred on a service that hopefully will continue to be around for many years to come.

iRacing has problems though. Safety/Penalty system isn't perfect, the company transparency is very poor and they do not take criticism very well, and the community prior to the Covid sim racing boom was extremely elitist and all stood by the idea of harder to drive = more sim.

Unfortunately my final point leads to where iRacing really sucks, their tire model has NO slip angle. Grip is a cliff, you reach the limit and you go from 100% grip to like 25% which is more characteristic of driving on a wet track.
This is a result of the main tire guy's TEN year long endeavor to use a physical compound modelling system (Theoretical modelling, vs empirical modelling which is considered the default). It should be better in the long run, but for now and for most of iRacing's life it just really fucking sucks and makes most of the cars much less fun to drive than they are in other simulators.

Overall iRacing is alright. Lots of room to improve, pricing is a total scam. But it's good for the hardcore enthusiast who wants a more serious environment with a substantial community and good variety of organized racing disciplines.

Fun for a while, but losses its interest due to the price. I can deal with the people knocking you out in nearly every single race if I wasn't already paying $12/mo, plus the cost of tracks and cars.

The physics are solid except the tire model still needs work. The graphics are at best early PS4 level and that's being kind. The prices are high, it's retarded that you pay $60 per year and $15 per track. You have to pay for private lobbies and the extra cars as well. All of that money spent and its just Forza/Gran Turismo Sport lobbies with better physics and a higher price tag. I'm mad at myself for falling into this trap of playing expensive bumper cars. Oh last but not least, the performance is awful for such a low end game. It will stutter occasionally and it isn't because of my hardware. It's a common issue with the game and they aren't using all of that money they make off of each user to fix the game. It would also be nice if they put some of that money into R&D and optimize the game to use more than 4 to 5 threads. I guess i shouldn't have expected much from a game that's mostly for NASCAR fans.

To be fair, my Hulu membership costs more than this. Individual content can get pricey, but buy it over the course of months and focus on a single series which series you’d like to participate in, and then it’s stomachable.

The multiplayer platform is probably the best in the genre and the content and energy this title has around is great, problem is the price. And it's a huge issue since they make you pay A LOT for anything PLUS a monthly subscription like an MMO.

Insanely overpriced, never thought I would have to pay a subscription to play a GAME, plus there's the £10 or so for one car and then the 5 tracks to go with it: £80 or something and then next thing you know you have moved up a license class and oh wait: here we go again. Please do not buy this unless you are filthy rich + you like racing sims. Sadly I'm only one of those things. Or if you are a serious real-life racing driver and you are also, FILTHY RICH. Sure, use the 3 month code for £5 to have a bit of fun for a while with the LIMITED base content, otherwise jog on and buy Project Cars 2 or something where you get over 100 cars and loads of tracks for the price of one month of iRacing without DLC. Yes, yes it's GROUND BREAKING but not enough for the price and genuinely, rF2 is more realistic to be completely honest with you. Not multiplayer focused, I know and slightly outdated but whatever you don't have to spend thousands of your hard earned money to get something which should cost much less then it does. Plus there are plenty of good mods which have better tire models and physics than iRacing: trust me.

If you are an big sim racing fan this is the game for you but there is a cost.

Pros:
Wheel support is top notch from the feeling to actual performance
Vehicle feel and performance
The support from major racing brands like Nascar and Lucas Oil.
The community is strong and lively.

Cons:
Subscription fee
Not all content is included with the subscription
The add-on content (cars and tracks) are not cheap to buy
The menus can be difficult to understand at first.

iRacing is such a perfect car racing game that I have been playing for many years on cars racing games ... but there are something that I really don't like so much is spending all time to get licence or what you call points to race it make me feel I am playing the PS1 in 1995 of the GT game , I have been buying cars and tracks but I think is useless for me .... iRacing almost 2 years or more but still not yet with a licence coz I only have try only 2 races to get the points ... so I am always on the Project Cars2 .
Actually I am already 68 years old ...not really in the mood to spend time to get points to start race .

It is an amazing simulator with great serious racing that you can't find with other games but it comes with a cost. Once out of rookie class everything is behind a pay wall, You will have too pay for each track and the required vehicle for what ever series you pick too race in. The tracks also change weekly so be ready too pay a lot more on top of your monthly subscription this is not worth it in my opinion i priced up all the tracks i would need and it came too close too £200 which is a little steep i get the tracks are all laser scanned yearly and such but still.

Pros:
-Realistic handling, best I've ever felt
-Mutiple different classes of racing
-iRating and SR putting you in races/splits that align with your skill level
-Ranked matches makes you feel like you have your SR/iRating on the line, which in return, makes crashes quite penalising. Which reduces crashes overall

Cons:
-Bloody expensive to get into
-People in lower splits crashing into you on purpose as a form of trolling (makes you lose SR)
-After you have DNF'd a few times, you lose iRating, which puts you in lower splits where people are even more likely to wreck you.

Overall, this has to be the best sim I've ever played, but it isn't without its weaknesses

Very disappointed you can just race with IA's you have to buy the membership, then also have to pay for all the main tracks and vehicles, if you want to race with others on the next work, its scheduled and you also have to pay for the track or the vehicles used… I’m almost $200. Invested in this game & I still haven’t raced with anyone yet...

There are other racing games that cost allot less…

I've only had this three days and I've already run up 21 driving hours. Got my D-class license in road and ovals, and I still can't decide which I like better... fortunately, I don't have to.

My first laps at Laguna Seca in the MX5 were in the 1m51s. I could see others regularly doing 1.42s, and I had no idea how they were almost ten seconds quicker. After lots of practice and several races where I barely avoided getting lapped, my times improved to consistent 1.46s, and now I'm in the 1.44s and occasionally breaking into the 1.43s. There's an awesome feeling of accomplishment when you get a sequence of corners right, and my goal is to get into the 1.42s consistently.

Sure, there's a monthly fee, and yes a lot of content must be purchased, but it's much, much cheaper than buying a real race car and maintaining it.

The irating and safety rating make this game so much better than the rest. You think its subscription is costly, wait until you see that you have to buy loads of tracks and cars! But you really specialise in a car. The skill ceiling is so high, dont expect to be able to jump into a f1 car and be able to retain your licence to be continue driving it. My fav is the Skip Barber series. F3 cars are just too fast for me to handle! Nevermind F1! not that my licence allows me to drive f1 cars.

absolutely the best racing sim on the market, physics are bar none, ffb is best in class, good cars, tracks and vr support.

worst part of this game is being stuck in the lower level and dealing with absolute morons on the track, your best bet is to drive safe till you can get out of the hell hole they call rookie.. its constant poor decisions made by im guessing kids?? that could be my best guess as i feel no reasonable adult would drive like that in a sim and ruin other peoples fun.

great sim though, top notch,, expensive, but i like to think that weeds out the people that are not serious and just want an arcady experience.

Physics leave A LOT to desire in comparison to other sims, not sure if I will ever get used to them, they are not bad but very, very weird. Pricing, no comments, most expensive game out there. I must say the VR implementation is superb though, it is pretty much the only reason I tried it and it leaves nothing to desire, far ahead of all the competitors (ac, acc, rf2, etc). It runs in my machine like clockwork! That said, graphics are dated and ugly, lol. The online multiplayer cannot be disputed though. Definitely worth having a look if you are into online racing and VR.

I have been thinking about buying this game for a long time and finally did. If your a real sim fan i would highly recommend buying this title . I was fed up of dirty drivers in other games the penalty system and organisation in this sim is second to none. Still some dirty drivers but they are dealt with a lot better.

I've spent a lot of time testing and done only a couple of races so far. I'm using Valve Index VR and Fanatec Podium and pedals. The net effect is hugely involving and realistic. I say this on the basis of many years of trackdays in a variety of my own cars.

From a driving perspective, its a decent middle of the pack simulator... not the best but not the worst either.
FFB and car physics are ok and comparable to other titles but rfactor2 is way out on its own as the gold standard
Visually looks meh... rfactor2, acc, ac & project cars 2 all better
One thing it does decently is VR implementation which is on par with rfactor2 & assetto corsa.
The online racing is billed as the jewel in the crown... it can be decent (if you have the content & the correct license)... however there is just as good/better, more varied and cheaper racing in leagues that run rfactor2, ac & acc.

Where this sim shines and is the best by a large distance is parting you with your money.... you get the privilege to pay a monthly sub to access and use the content that you paid for... the generosity... should really feel thankful.

As good as the game is, really not worth paying a monthly sub and having to pay for cars and tracks on top. You can't access their forum or messaging with having a live subscription. Wouldn't recommend unless you have more money than sense.
