[b]That vehicle was born in 1993 as JR EAST's next-generation commuter train. Following the development of the prototype 901 series, it was introduced as a mass-produced model. It became the foundation for JR EAST's current commuter and suburban trains.[/b]

[b]Inside, the design prioritized barrier-free accessibility with features like wider seats, partitioning using poles that also function as handrails, designated wheelchair spaces, LED station name displays above doors, and chimes signaling door operation.[/b]

[b]With a capacity of 162 passengers per car, it was the largest capacity model in the series. Only 170 cars were manufactured, forming 17 single-car sets. They continue to operate on the Keiyō Line and Musashino Line today.[/b]
