Die KI-Gegner sind leider ab einem gewissen punkt in der Story mit den Standartdecks kaum zu besiegen.
Zudem macht die KI den Yugioh-Move, Stichwort Herz der Karten. Der Gegner hat immer das was er gerade braucht. Man selbst hat oft totalen Mist auf der Hand, also ein aufs andere mal Duell neustarten. Mir ist nach 7 Stunden endgültig die Lust vergangen und ich werde kein zusätzliches Geld für neue Decks ausgeben nur um die Story durchzuspielen.

Gegnerische Decks haben mehr als 4 Kopien einer Karte. Es gibt keine Phasen. Die Generischen Decks sind langweilig und unkreativ. 10 Mal hintereinander Handkarten abwerfen. 10 Mal nen Typen beschwören der 1 schaden schießt wenn man ihn für ein rotes tappt. 10 mal 1/1 Flieger beschwören.

Das hat einfach mit Magic spielen nichts zu tun.

An sich sehr schön umgesetzt. Aber ohne sich Karten zu KAUFEN reicht die eigene Deckstärke irgendwann für die KI-Gegner nicht mehr aus.

Mein erstes Online Magic. Hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht und mich auch mal wieder meine alten analogen Karten auspacken lassen. Leider kann man seine Decks nur bedingt zusammenstellen, trotzdem gibt es viele Kombinations und Experimentiermöglichkeiten.

Das hier ist meines Erachtens nach die beste Version von Magic in der Videospielwelt. Der Grund dafür ist die Tiefe und der Umfang. Es fühlt sich nicht abgespeckt an wie die Teile danach, ausgereifter als die Teile davor und man darf mehr als nur am Endgame von MTG schnuppern. Die Decks sind spannend und originell. Auch die Spielmodi wie Planechase. Die Herausforderungen lassen ein Aus-der-Box-heraus-Denken erkennen, da sie die Regeln temporär zurechtbiegen. Die Stimmung ist insgesamt recht düster, was durch die Farben und das Design erreicht wird - keineswegs zu bemängeln, sondern stimmig.

Dummerweise ist die Musik in diesem Teil am schwächsten - vor allem das Titelthema. Einige Karten haben Lokalisierungsfehler. Das Spiel braucht extrem lange zum Starten und ist schnell ausgelastet und verursacht Sync-Probleme wenn viel auf dem Tisch liegt. Auch ist der Multiplayer inzwischen tot, aber das war ohnehin früh abzusehen.

Nichtsdestotrotz würde ich diesen Teil von allen am ehesten anschalten, weil dies der nahezu beste Ersatz für das Original-Magic ist und etwas erreicht was seither immer falsch gemacht wird: Es erschafft Interesse für das echte indem es auf Frustration verzichtet.

Magic: The Gathering ist und bleib das beste (Sammel-)Kartenspiel!! ich kann dieses Spiel nur empfehlen wer es sich angucken will sollte auf mein Youtube-Kanal einfach mal in die Playlist schauen ;) habe dort auch alles ausführlich Erklärt (www.youtube.de/user/currylp)

Not having any prior knowledge about playing Magic, I found this game very easy to get into.
Artwork and card actions are nice to look at, and there's a punch to the sound effects.
Genuinely fun to play, would recommend if you are into card games.

abadoned and left to die, i bought this and the other year games in hopes one would stick only for arena to swoop in, i might have played arena if buying all these games and collecting the cards didnt feel so worthless.

No. Just... no.

I thought this was a deckbuilding game. I thought this was a game where you BUILD decks, not just have a premade ones and buy the rest, please. I feel like an idiot for getting excited to be playing this. I'm certainly an idiot for buying it. And yeah, it's cheap, especially in today's climate of ripoff prices and yearly video game price-hikes, but that doesn't mean I don't want my money back.

For those that don't know, you just get the one deck to begin with and have to either unlock the others or buy them. Moreover, I've seen no sign that any of them can actually be built - it's all premade, without any sense of individuality allowed. Maybe it's just me, but after getting curbstomped by a deck over and over with no viable way of seeing anything else, I'm forced to believe there's not much in store to look at.

And now I have to find a way to get my £15 back.

It's vaguely interesting, but matches are slow and very top-deck heavy, meaning whoever draws better wins. There isn't really much thought to playing, as you hardly ever have more than one option in any given turn. You also have very minimal ability to interact with your opponent, so it feels pretty arbitrary which deck you're going against. You just essentially have about 5 turns to establish complete board dominance through good card draws, or you lose.

All in all, pretty boring.

I like it, perfect for beginners. No rippoff, like MTGA. But unfortunatelly, there are no players online any more.

If you’re worried about the price tag for a game that’s arguably just a polished version of the game released last year with a different multiplayer mode, consider this: If you’re a real magic fan, you’ll probably spend more than that on booster packs every month.

I never got into Magic since it's birth in 1993 which makes me a great reference with zero prior attachments to this game. Only 12 when the first cards hit the store shelves, at 39 I simply can't ignore the fact that Magic has stood the test of time like no bodies business. So I decided to give it try. At 4 hours in I finally get it. Now I fully understand why all the hype. What an amazing and beautiful concept. Familiar with the comic card/book scene in the 1990's, I know how collecting card sets can be treated as investments. As most of the other card-games faded out of existence, people were still playing Magic. And not just kids, adults have also been getting down on this amazing card game for literally decades now. What better way to experience Magic than on a virtual platform? So I started at the beginning with the 2013 version, and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I have never played games like this before, and am already very addicted to it! From someone who knew nothing of magic until now, this so far has been an awesome experience...

Are you like me and not terribly interested in the rapidly changing world of Magic: The Gathering, be it the physical card version or the digital Magic: The Gathering Arena, yet still love the game you used to play?

Well, this is one of my favorites versions. And up front, I'd recommend the 'Gold Game Bundle' over the complete as it contains the extra campaigns as well as a few additional decks. But, if you're a hyper enthusiast, there are more decks and foil conversions should you just really like them.

What are even Hearthstone, Gwent, Elder Scrolls: Legends or Hex: Shards of Fate?

While different, having their own twists and unique attributes, they're all games that are effectively trying to recreate the... magic of MTG.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 is a largely single player version of MTG with over 15 pre-built decks that unlock more cards as you use them. The deck manager allows you remove or add the extra cards earned through play to optimize each deck to how you play. That might be frustrating to some, but it doesn't honestly take that long to unlock them all and you'll have a better idea of how you want to build the deck after having used the deck against various other types of decks in the meantime.

Campaign vs. Custom Game vs. Multiplayer

The campaign is rather lengthy consisting of various Planswalker 'boss' battles wherein you face that deck controlled by AI. With encounter battles in between, typically involving some odd mechanic that'll force you to think and therefore play differently, even when using the same deck and subscribing to a tried-and-true methodology. There are also Revenge campaigns as well as extra challenges. There is also a “Planechase” mode campaign. Back when I was playing this was fairly new, in case you're unfamiliar, it's essentially a shared 'planar' deck in the middle of the field that is drawn that augments the rules of all players. It's used in conjunction with its own die that dictates how the planar card will function that round.

The custom game mode consists of 'Free-for-all', classic 2-4 (AI or players), 'Two-Headed Giant' — which is 2v2. And the aforementioned 'Planechase'. These modes can be used for practice in the campaigns, testing strategies, unlocking new cards from new decks or for a challenge depending on your settings.

As for multiplayer, it does have online, but I would simply be astounded if anyone was still playing this online. However, it supports 'Remote Play' through Steam and I can't imagine that if you're interested in playing this online (and aren't already using Arena), that that interest would not be for playing against 'Garruk0176' instead of a friend that you've premade arrangements with anyways.

THE GIST:
It's got achievements, avatar unlocks, deck progression, campaign progression — all the things you'd want out of a single player focused MTG. It's got a decent tutorial as well if MTG is completely foreign to you.

I feel a bit ripped off since it appears you can not even create your own deck from the ground up. Whats the point in playing magic if you cant even build your own style..... 10 premade deck options with 30 cards unlocked from each deck to add or remove? What the hell is that, I want a refund......
