100 Jahre in der Zukunft ist auf dem Mars etwas geschehen. Früher wurde er noch regelmäßig besucht, doch heute ist er verlassen, obwohl noch einige Überlebende dort sind.

MEMORIES OF MARS ist ein Überlebensspiel in einer offenen Welt, das in den verlassenen Bergbauanlagen des roten Planeten spielt. Der Traum, den Mars auszubeuten und zu kolonisieren hat sich als unmöglich erwiesen. Du spielst als Klon, der vor kurzem erwacht ist, und erfährt, dass seine Lebensspanne von den tödlichen Sonneneruptionen abhängt, die alle paar Wochen die Planetenoberfläche heimsuchen.

Die Aufgabe des Spielers ist es, in der Ödnis des Mars zu überleben. Es gilt, die raue Marslandschaft zu erkunden und eine bewohnbare Siedlung zu errichten, während allerlei Gefahren abgewandt werden müssen. Dazu gehören auch seltsame Feinde, harsche Umweltbedingungen und die anderen menschlichen Klone, die genauso überleben wollen.

Erkunde und überlebe den roten Planeten.

Erkunde mehr als 16 km² Landschaft auf dem Mars, einschließlich Wüsten, Krater, Schluchten, felsige Ebenen und Hochländer. Besuche mehr als 85 interessante Orte, wie verlassene Städte, Minen, Industrieanlagen, Biokuppeln und Fahrzeuge.

Kümmere dich um deine Grundbedürfnisse, wie Gesundheit, Ausdauer, Ernährung, Körpertemperatur und Sauerstoff.

Du begegnest einzigartigen NPCs, die immer darauf aus sind, deine Abenteuer zu stören, und musst gegen sie kämpfen. Diese NPCs stecken voller interessanter Überraschungen aus vorherigen, fehlgeschlagenen Kolonialisierungsbemühungen. Jetzt sind sie abtrünnig geworden und du musst verschiedene Arten krabbelnder Pods, Bohrdrohnen und zukünftiger Feinde besiegen, die später vorgestellt werden.

Baue deine eigene Basis, denn sie ist der Grundstein deiner Gameplay-Erfahrung. Errichte eine eigene kleine Basis oder arbeite mit anderen zusammen, um eine noch größere zu bauen. So oder so, du kommst um eine Basis nicht herum, denn nur so kannst du den Mars überleben!

MEMORIES OF MARS hat ein sehr einzigartiges System mit In-Game-ereignissen, bei denen die Spieler zusammenarbeiten und versuchen müssen, diese Ereignisse zu überleben, um Flops zu sammeln. Es gibt verschiedene Möglichkeiten, Flops zu sammeln. Aber sei auf der Hut, denn andere Spieler können dir deine Flops stehlen, sie erledigen oder erbeuten.

Seit langem mal wieder angespielt. Es hat sich sehr positiv vom bau bis Fähigkeiten Menü verändert, nach kurzer Einspielung kommt man sehr schnell zurecht. Mich schleicht das Gefühl das es als damals mehr Flops pro Gegner gibt, was ich positiv finde da Anfänger wie ich, auch mal zu etwas kommen.
Was Negativ leider noch ist , ist der Hitpunkt der Gegner, ab un an etwas frustrierend aber geht so noch

Der Mars läuft nicht richtig rund…

Als ich mir das Spiel im Bundle gekauft habe, war ich zunächst verwirrt, um was es sich bei dem Spiel handelt? Ein PVP-Arena Shooter? Open World? Wenn ihr euch dasselbe fragt, hier gibt’s die Antworten.

Gameplay
„Memories of Mars“ erinnert mich spielerisch sehr stark an Rust. Wir sind zwar auf dem Mars, aber dennoch sammeln wir Ressourcen, kämpfen gegen NPCs und bauen uns eine eigene Basis auf. Dabei müssen wir viele Dinge erst mit Erfahrungspunkten freischalten und verbessern uns so langsam in Ausrüstung und Eigenheim. Allerdings müssen wir dabei auf unseren Sauerstoff und unsere Energie achten. Andere Spieler werden uns dabei nur gefährlich, wenn wir den entsprechenden Server gewählt haben oder uns in eine PVP-Zone bewegen. Dennoch kann man eben nicht einen reinen Singleplayer erwarten. Der große Unterschied zu anderen Survivalspielen liegt hier wohl in der Idee, dass die ganze Spielmechanik Mittel zum Zweck ist. Eigentlich folgen wir der Geschichte und so kann man zwar nach seinem Willen spielen, eigentlich ist „Memories of Mars“ eine Kampagne, die man im Multiplayer verfolgt. Zumindest habe ich es so interpretiert. Und das immerhin besser als Fallout 76!

Auf der technischen Seite muss ich allerdings ein paar Dinge bemängeln. Zum einen sind die Server recht dicht (Zumindest, wenn man sich die Anzahl der Strukturen anschaut) bevölkert und auch auf starken PCs kommt es zu Frameeinbrüchen, wenn man sich in der Nähe von spielergemachten Bauwerken aufhält oder in die Richtung schaut. Also immer…
Zum Anderen ist es meinen Mitspieler und mir öfters passiert, dass das Spiel einfach abgestürzt ist. Das ist zwar meist nicht sonderlich schlimm, aber zumindest ist es nervig. Auch das Questdesign ist eine Sache für sich. Man bekommt teils nur sehr grobe Hinweise und die Quests sind fast immer Sammelaufgaben, wobei man immer zu einem bestimmten Gebiet laufen muss. Nur blöd, wenn da zufällig vorher schon ein anderer Spieler war und den Laden leergeräumt hat. Auch ist das Spiel da nicht sehr Coop-Freundlich. Man sammelt zwar gemeinsam Fortschritt, wenn einer der Spieler einen Gegner erledigt oder Schrott sammelt, allerdings wird man vom Spiel immer dazu gezwungen, bestimmte Dinge zu erlernen und zu bauen, was wiederum nicht für beide Spieler zählt und so die Möglichkeit nimmt, dass sich jeder im Team auf andere Technologien spezialisiert. Außerdem besteht sehr viel Spielzeit im Grinden von Ressourcen. Die Basis bleibt dabei nur solange stehen, wenn man in regelmäßigen Abständen mit ihr interagiert, was ich natürlich verstehen kann. Gebäude gibt es ja schon genug. Allerdings ist es auch blöd mit dem Questdesign verbunden, wenn du als Spieler Gegenstände für die Story lagern musst, aber deine Basis durch Inaktivität und theorethisch durch andere Spieler zerstört werden kann. Praktisch hatten mein Kumpel und ich zwischendurch mal eine Woche keine Zeit für das Spiel und durften dann quasi von vorne beginnen…Als Letztes muss ich noch erwähnen, dass man die tolle Ausrüstung wie Jetpack und Raketenstiefel am Ende des Spiels bekommt. Die machen das Spiel zwar wesentlich angenehmer, aber wenn man sie hat, gibt es im Spiel halt einfach Nichts mehr zu tun…

Story/Community
Wir starten als Klon in einer unterirdischen Testkammer und erfahren bereits nach kurzer Zeit, dass irgendetwas furchtbar schief gegangen ist. Nein, nicht mit den Klonen! Sondern mit den Maschinen, die wohl etwas aggressiver geworden sind. Die Geschichte wird dabei überwiegend in Textlogs und gelegentlich auch in Audioaufzeichnungen erzählt. Die Geschichte ist alleine nicht der Hammer, aber sie gibt eine Richtung in der offenen Spielwelt vor. Vielleicht allerdings auch ein wenig zu sehr… Ich hatte mir hier zwar mehr erhofft und vielleicht richtige Dungeons bzw. Instanzen erwartet, aber da wurde ich leider enttäuscht. Generell ist die Story eher schwach, da sie nahezu gar nicht erzählt wird. Wir finden zwar ein paar Textdokumente, aber warum wir jetzt nach Ort X müssen, wird gar nicht erwähnt. Zudem tauchen die erwähnten Audioaufzeichnungen nur sehr spärlich nach komplettieren einer Questreihe auf.

Die Community war auf unserem Server sehr hilfsbereit und so kam zum Beispiel mal ein Nachbar angeflogen, als wir gerade unser Haus gebaut haben und hat uns einfach mal sehr viele Ressourcen und Technologie mitgebracht. Lag vielleicht daran, dass wir auf einem offiziellen PvE Server gespielt haben. Aber insgesamt ist auf den Servern nicht viel los. Man trifft selten man einen anderen Spieler, was in der Regel aber friedvoll verläuft, da man nur wenig das Bedürfnis verspürt, sein Gegenüber auszuschalten. Die Währung kann ohnehin nicht gelootet werden und es gibt jetzt auch keine Gegenstände, die man sich unbedingt von einem anderen Spieler holen möchte. Ganz angenehm war die Community auf unseren Server, weil sie durch Infrastrukturprojekte wie Rampen und Brücken uns das Leben wesentlich leichter gemacht hat und es durchaus ein paar Leute gibt, die den Titel sehr langfristig spielen.

Grafik/Sound
Die Grafik ist ganz in Ordnung, auch wenn das Spiel etwas statisch wirkt. Auch die Feinde, die gerne an Wänden und Decke krabbeln, positionieren sich manchmal etwas merkwürdig. Der Mars hat optisch natürlich nicht soviel zu bieten, aber der Panoramablick wird leider auch durch die arg vielen Spielergebäude getrübt. Die Plünderorte sind dafür wiederum ganz schön gestaltet, auch wenn sie mehrmals vorkommen. Sehr schön war auch die Idee, dass man seine Waffe und dessen HUD und Leuchtspurmunition farblich anpassen kann.

Insgesamt also ein eher postiver Eindruck, aber leider wurde auch viel Potenzial verschenkt. Die Soundkulisse fällt leider auch arg dünn aus und Waffen beeindrucken mit ihrem Feedback leider nicht wirklich. Zudem gibt es wenige Möglichkeiten, seine Basis irgendwie einzurichten und dekorative Elemente sind nahezu nicht vorhanden.

Fazit
„Memories of Mars“ ist ein echt schwieriger Fall. Ja, ich habe es „durchgespielt“, aber ich war an vielen Stellen wirklich genervt. Auch wenn es trotz nerviger Mechaniken, Spielabstürzen und FPS-Drops mal glatt lief, hatte ich eher Spaß dank meines Mitspielers als durch das Gameplay selbst. Ich habe das Spiel eher nebenher in einem Bundle gekauft und kann den Kauf leider nicht empfehlen. Es war ein Kampf mit mir selbst, aber so gerne ich dem Spiel einen Daumen nach oben geben würde, die Schwerkraft hält mich leider davon ab. Es hat einfach zu viele Fehler im Design und man hat den Eindruck, die Entwickler haben das Spiel selber nie selber getestet…Das Spiel macht sicherlich Vieles richtig, aber vieles ist eben gleichzeitig nicht optimiert oder fehlt einfach. Wenn man es günstig schießt, kann man es mit Freunden vielleicht spielen, aber so richtig weiterempfehlen kann ich es eben nicht.

In meiner Kuratorengruppe habe ich es nicht als negativ, sondern als informativ/neutral bewertet. Leider geht das bei einem normalen Review nicht. Das Spiel ist grundsätzlich nett, aber auf Dauer ist es nervig von einer Ecke in die andere Ecke der Karte geschickt zu werden....alles laufend. Kein Fahrzeug oder sonstige Optionen. Zu wenig verschiedenen Gegner. Eine Menge von Würmer und Spinnen. Später dann mal eine Drohne und ein Mech. 1 oder 2 Tage nett, danach eher langweilig. Das Bausystem ist gut, könnte aber für meinen Geschmack auch mehr Optionen enthalten. Man kann beim Bau nicht sehr kreativ werden. Die Server sind eher leer. Kommt man in stärker bebaute Zonen, wird es laggy. Ich habe schon schlechtere Spiele gespielt.

Hab das Spiel heut zufällig in den Tiefen meiner
Bibliotherk gefunden.
Da Survival ja genau mein Ding ist, dachte ich
mir: probiers doch einfach mal aus.

Und siehe da, es macht tatsächlich Spaß!
Gut, wie immer hab ich leicht begonnen um erstmal
das Spiel zu beschnuppern, also pve ^^

Die Server sind zwar leer was sehr schade ist,
und das Spiel crasht doch gerne mal ab,
aber ansonsten besteht Suchtgefahr.

Schöne Grafik, tolle Atmosphäre - sehr übersichtlich,
dennoch hoch interessant. Übersichtlich gestaltet,
die open World ist sehr groß und der Skilltree umfangreich.

Also rundum ein ( Momentaufnahme ) spielenswertes Spiel
und ich darf es positiv bewerten^^

Ich gebe dem Spiel angefixte 7,5/10

Es macht immer wieder Spaß es zu spielen auch wenn es ein paar Kritikpunkte meiner Meinung nach gibt.
Ich spiele dieses Game schon seit ich glaube der Season 4 oder 5 im Early. Das Spielprinzip ist einfach: Überlebe auf dem Mars, erbaue dir eine Basis, finde und baue resourcen ab, finde Datein oder Logs um die Hintergrundgeschichte zu erfahren und um diese zusammen damit du die Speicherrakete starten kannst. Ich spiele auf dem EU1 offiziellen Server, der ist PVE mit Events wo dann auch PVP erlaubt ist bzw. geht. Die Atmosphäre ist genial, die Sonnenuntergänge ein Traum. Es gibt zwar einige zu entdecken aber die Gehimnisse könnten mehr sein. Das Allianzsystem ist zwar schön aber auf einem Server wo nur 32 Spieler raufpassen ist das AllySystem nutzlos. Was mir noch fehlt sind Fahrzeuge! Es gibt weder ein Landfahrzeug wie zum Beispiel einen Buggy oder sowas mit Ladefunktion (Kofferaum) noch irgendeine Art Drone womit man Bergbau zum Beispiel betreiben kann oder sachen hin und her transportieren kann. Wozu gibt es eigentlich dieses große Garagentor zu bauen, scheint auch nutzlos zu sein! Wäre schön wenn da noch was kommt. Des Weiteren was hat es mit diesem komischen Riesenroboter auf sich? Der Boss, ja schön und warum ist der da? Irgendwie finde ich dazu keine Infos. Was ist mit dem Koronal Ausstoß? War letztens mal wieder im Reactor, da lief die Zeit ab und nichts ist passiert, das war im Early bei den Seasons noch anders, ich finde es aber so wie es jetzt ist gut glaube ich, ich weiß nicht wirklich was passiert und wie es endet aber gut, überrraschen lassen wie es weiter geht.

Tja, an sich ein wirklich gelungenes Spiel. Die regelmäßig wiederkehrenden Neustarts sind jedoch tödlich, im wahrsten Sinne, für jeden Spielspaß. Immer und immer wieder mühsam aufzubauen und zu sammeln, nur um dann alles wieder zu verlieren, hat mich das Spiel leider beenden lassen. Es ist natürlich Geschmacksache. Manchem bietet genau das den Reiz. Wer täglich gefühlte 25 Stunden spielen kann, kommt sicher weit. Ich kann mir diesen Luxus nicht leisten. Daher meine, persönliche, negative Beurteilung. Falls das Spiel mal im Dauermodus spielbar ist, gibt es wieder volle Punktzahl :-)

Nach 20 Mal Starten und andauernd durch die Karte Fallen, hat es zwei mal geklappt aber beim Sachen aufheben keinerlei Antwort vom Server.
Meiner Meinung nach sind die Server überlastet.
Zu dem Zeitpunkt leider einen Daumen nach untern.

Vorweg-> In diesem Spiel gehört sterben dazu. Fakt. Kann und wird passieren. Hör auf rumzumeckern. PVP oder PVE- du wirst so oder so mal die Marsrüben von unten sehen.
Der Fokus liegt ganz klar in eurem Skilltree. Dieser ist levelbar und durch Flops (Währung, die u.a. die Gegner fallen lassen)
erweiterbar. Wenn ihr sterbt, verliert ihr zwar eure gesamte Ausrüstung aber euer Skilltree bleibt bestehen! Auch wenn ihr den Server wechseln solltet.

[spoiler] Ihr startet als Klon in einer Klonfabrik. 0 Ahnung was los ist. Ihr sammelt eure sieben Sachen zusammen und verlasst den Schutzbunker. Nun könnt ihr euren Spawnpunkt aussuchen.
Draußen auf der Mars-Oberfläche haben Roboter die Vorherrschaft übernommen. Diese sind eure Feinde aber auch eure beste Möglichkeit Flops zu farmen.
Ihr sammelt Eisen, Nitrat, Alluminium, Kupfer, Kohlefasern, Nahrung, Sauerstoff und einiges mehr.
Mit diesen Materialien könnt ihr mit eurem aus dem Kloncenter mitgebrachtem Mobilen 3D Drucker alles Mögliche herstellen.
Von Waffen und Rüstung bis zu Gebäudeteilen ist eigentlich fast alles abgedeckt.
Und falls ihr doch einmal sterben solltet ( Ihr werdet es!) - könnt ihr euren Loot an eurem Grab wiederholen, es sei denn ein gegnerischer Spieler hat euch genatzt und völlig ausgenommen.

Jetzt heißt es: überleben und den Skilltree ausbauen!

PRO:
-Schnelles Wiederbeschaffen an Resourcen - nach jedem Wiedereinstieg ist man nach ca 15 Min wieder Kampfbereit mit
Muni und Waffen.
- Spielprinzip ist schnell fesselbar
- Atmosphärisch spannend
- Musikalisch gut unterlegt
- Spawncamping so gut wie unmöglich, da es sehr viele Spawnpunkte gibt
- Mit wenigen Stunden hat man schon gutes Equip
- Wer Lust und GUTE IDEEN hat, kann sich mit den Entwicklern auf Discord unterhalten. Einen besseren Community-basierten Service habe ich bisher bei keinem solch weitreichendem Spiel erlebt.
- Beim Sprinten beugt sich das FOV realistisch- Sehr gut gelöst!

NEUTRAL:
- Waffenbugs : Achtet auf eure Waffen! Manchmal kommt es vor, dass beim Waffenwechsel
viel zu viel Zeit verbraucht wird um nachzuladen.
- Ausbaufähig im Bereich Kommunikation mit anderen Spielern, Aimen, Effektsound, Erzabbau
-FPS nur sehr selten droppend !
- Nicht bei jedem Neustart konnte ich bisher die Klonfabrik verlassen ( Verlassen und rejoinen half)

CONTRA:
-Spiel befindet sich in einer EARLY ACCES PHASE. Bitte heult nicht rum, wenn einige Sachen noch nicht flott laufen.
- Das hüpfen und geduckt gehen ist manchmal ein wenig seltsam, vom produzierendem Geräusch über die Tatsache das man nicht immer über kleinere Objekte hüpfen kann.

FAZIT:

Wer Bock hat auf dem Mars für Recht und Ordnung zu sorgen, sich nicht scheut mal hin und wieder ins Gras zu beißen,
daran interessiert ist, sich Basen zu bauen und Waffen und Rüstung -
für den ist das genau das Richtige.

Freunde von RUST, 7DtD und andere ähnliche Titelliebhaber, sollten dieses Spiel hier in den Augen behalten. Die Entwicklung ist dank der wirklich guten Kommunikation mit den DEVs zukunftsorientiert und maßgeblich entscheidend bei einer hoffentlich noch positiveren Entwicklung.
Ich finde dieses Spiel (mit all seinen wirklich kleinen Fehlern) einfach gelungen.

Cool game. Survival, crafting...and it's on mars.
Even though I play PvE, there are others there. But in a friendly atmosphere, offering help.
Graphics : good
The storyline is good
Combat : good
Progres system : very good
crafting : OK

What I really like is that there is a constant need for more resources, like copper and magnesium. And a constant longing for that next and better tool and weapon. Exactly how it should feel. You are kept long enough on the tiny pistol to appreciate the first rifle a lot.
Maybe this game is not developed any more, but I am having lots of fun with the content it has. Also very good is how the missions get more difficult without becoming impossible. Good balance found here!

What a bargain :-)

I only recommend this game if you are able to purchase it cheap do to the company no longer supporting it.

The game has a lot of potential if the devs still supported it and made more content for it such as expanding the map or at least adding the ability to create mods/maps for the game.

I purchased this game for $5.00 during a sale, played the game for a few hours only to learn that it's a abandoned project.

This game gets a thumbs down do to Steam/Devs not displaying a noticed on the store page they no longer support the game and it will no longer receive updates/fixes.

Dead game but seriously tons of fun! if the servers could get ppl in this game would be amazing, even without anymore updates. Fun Co-op play with friends and doing missions and building has hours of fun. Solo play or join people on mars! must play survival game.

Servers are up but lacking of players. At this rate, the game will be sunset really soon and it will be a waste of money.
Once the game is out of early access, it is out of development too. Developers abandoned this game.
Should have had offline mode instead of online only!

Contents kinda stale, feels like I'm just upgrading something and it basicaly dose nothing. Its fun for a few hours but then kind platues because how much you need to just grind.

Decent game, could be better, overall fun anyway. No man's sky really set the bar for these kinds of games and while it had a slow start it is now rocketing off at warp speed and all the games like this one that are trying to catch on... just ain't. Close but no cigar kinda moment.

That being said, if you got someone to play with, the journey and grind is fun, if solo.. its just a time kill...

Catch it on sale, pass on full price.

ABANDONED, dont waste your money, if you want a space crafting game thats similar to ark play empyrion galactic survival, that game is class, you get to build your own ships, build bases, hover crafts, and explore a galaxy and it has single player or you can play online with pvp or pve, you also have quests and the modding community has created tehir own quests/missions, back to this game, it had so much potential but these days devs want to make a bit of money and then just cash out, there should be a law with these abandoned games, give us our money back or half of it, or let other devs complete the game, getting sick of this genre of games now though, its like devs always abandon these types and these open world survival are my favourite type, so hard to get one that suits me now haha i will not recommend it until it gets picked back up, because its actually a good game but when it only has online only, it is a fail, at last finish and add a single player mode and make the map bigger, cus its rather small

Man, what a huge let down.

This game had such potential, and it just didn't pan out. I know the planet is supposed to be abandoned, but they went too far; it feels like the devs abandoned the project too. There are a few specialty enemies that show up very occasionally, but there's basically only one. And it's pretty too; Devs did such a good job of crafting a beautiful world, but didn't fill it with anything.

Typical survival game, seems like a cross of Generation Zero and Ark (minus the dinosaurs), but I didn't buy it thinking it was going to be anything new and ground breaking. The game is forced online play, and you have to join a server, it is NOT client based hosting, which is a huge downer.
The devs haven't updated the game in a year, and I suspect they abandoned the game entirely, so there will be no fixes, or added content.
You can build you own base but you have to pay to keep it 'Claimed' as yours, you use in game credits which you can get from killing things and gathering materials. It gets expensive very quick. You also have to buy skills and research things with those same credits, so it's best to play with more people.
There in lies the problem, since the game is dead, and there seems to be a max of around 8 people online scattered in different servers, it won't happen.
Save your money and get another game that people are still playing.

I think this is the perfect combo of PVE / PVP and open world crafting and survival , Great features , graphics and game play . A good challenge for the Open World Gamer indeed.

I really enjoyed this game, I played around 73 hours, but I really cant recommend it, it's a real grind gathering resources and building and upgrading, and after a while the grind takes its toll and you inevitability need a break from the game, but its this break that wrecks the game, if you take a break and dont play the game for a week or so the house you spent so long grinding to build goes up for sale without you knowledge and sold for a song and you loose everything, all your hard earned resources and your left to start all over from the begining, and after so long playing I didn't even get close to getting all the cool upgrades, so only get this game if you believe you can mindlessly grind for more than 100 hours to get close to finishing it.

This game is trash. It's utterly ridiculous how enemies can snipe you from nearly twice the range of your own sniper rifle and then run away and keep pelting you from afar. Their uncanny ability to fire rockets through walls is also a joke. Add to that the ability for some enemies to be able to break your medkits mid-use, and you've got a recipe for a game that players just /ragequit. Checking the devs FB page makes it look like the game sucked so bad, even they ragequit.. In 2019...

So, if you want a game that's going to make you regret the fact that someone gave it to you for free, this is it.

The game is very addictive, and quite fun. So why do I not recommend it?

Unfortunately the game has been abandoned, and with PvP elements even on PvE servers, the griefers are running roughshod over the game and driving out any remaining decent playerbase. Doing everything from blocking off critical resource gathering spots, walling in other player homes to prevent access, using builds to trap players forcing them to respawn out thus losing everything they have, all of which is illegal in the game, but since it's been abandoned by the developers there's no ingame dispute resolution or any customer service whatsoever. So for that reason alone I have to strongly discourage anyone from buying this otherwise wonderful spacefaring crafting game.

A real pity.

The game is fun. I'm hosting my own private server for friends and the game is fun, but it's a fairly large map with no vehicles and walking everywhere is pretty damn annoying. I don't understand the logic of not having method of traveling around the map a bit quicker.

Not only is this a dead game, but the game itself is centered on unrelenting grind. Whether it be for skill points, resources, or more points to extend the duration that your property stays yours, it's grind, grind, grind. Players are cutthroat and inconsiderate, now. Didn't used to be that way, but douchebags are killing what's left of the nonexistant playerbase. Additionally, I had a base rated as safe from despawn for 12 days. I came back on day 3 and it was gone. Thousands of FLOPs and hours of hard work, just gone.

I've played over 70 hours of this game in just over 2 weeks, I find it very addictive. Having said that the grind of mining is getting a bit old & I've still got plenty of stuff to unlock which require countless more hours of grinding. My brother & I who live too far apart to catch up regularly have made an in game Alliance & are having fun meeting up on Mars to hang out. I'd like to be able to make & use furniture in my base. We should be able to make our own hydroponics setup to grow plants. I'd like to be able to have an airlock in my base & tap it into the existing oxygen lines etc. A great game for anyone who loves survival games & sci-fi

WHAT A GREAT GAME!!! I really like this game because you have great freedom to do what you want, but also have certain tasks you have to do, to get better gear to use on Mars. Overall I love it, however there should be more items to find or loot, and give the mantis's (bug robots) less damage power. It's crazy how just a couple hits from them and you're dead just like that, you loose all your stuff and have to go find it with nothing on you to protect you so it's really crazy. I really like how the meteors that fall during the game are adding craters to the surface of mars and at the center of them are a big surprise. The game is overall a winner for me.

I'm changing my review because I've been exactly where they are. This game Could be an excellent survival game but they need to spend the time needed to do so.

Too many times if something isn't an instant success, people just give up and move to the next way to make money. This is plaguing us gamers and developers alike.

There's so many ideas that haven't been explored and that would just make for Intense fun if these gold mining crazy folk would just listen...

I have 33 hours in this game, I'd played for several nights and weekends and built up a good base. I even logged in every week to make sure that I kept the security up. I was out of town for a week and that was it, it's all gone, the entire base just gone. I have no interest in continuing the game, it's not worth playing when everything just disappears. Uninstalled.

I hate giving a thumbs down to steam games but I need to on this one. The game starts well with the usual survival stuff - waking up and then trying to figure out what went wrong - all the people are dead and robot spiders have taken over. You progress normally building a base, gathering resources, crafting better stuff and moving the story line forward. The real problem comes as you get closer to the end and the progress just becomes glacially slow. I'm about 80% through now and the gameplay is 90% pain and 10% satisfaction. There is no transport, no fast travel and bases can't be relocated. Hence there is a lot of shift-w running all over the map again and again to get resources and the elusive end game guns and armor. To even get access to that end game gear, you need schematics which are randomly available at 3 reactor sites distributed over the map. You have to hit the reactors over and over hoping that a required schematic appears. Once you do find the schematic, its costs a fortune to buy. Then you find out that crafting it requires a resource that's almost impossible to obtain unless you are at the end game. Its all just too frustrating and repetitive. Sorry Mars - Elon can have you. I'm done.

I been playing this game a lot and I have to say it looks really nice, quests, big map, crafting, building,mining, LOOT :), skill tree... there is also a guide online so you can set up your own private server PvE or PvP or both, you have freedom to change all controls settings keys, it is first person only game , I been really busy on it and having fun, I just wonder why they are letting the game to die ? Why there is no one on their official discord server answering the new players questions? I been trying to help with the questions as much I can, but I feel bad for what the Developers are doing to their own game, well maybe something to do with this stupid pandemic, anyway I play PvE only and if you like to explore and do PvE stuff like me you will like the game, not sure about PvP since the Developers are doing nothing I guess there is a lot cheating going on even a guy on their own discord showing to people how to dupe items LOL!

Today I joined into the official server, I was really scared to get killed by a player, so then I saw a player and told him: I am new pls do not kill me, he said all good because we are not in PvP area, he helped me out with food and some game stuff and told me if I like to do PvE only all I have to do is avoid pvp area that you can see marked in the map, also you will see a white laser going into the sky meaming the PvP area is on, so you can PvE without fear to be killed by PvP players in the official server, just great :).
Anyway take the opportunity and buy it since are on sale -75% off.

Tough to recommend. The game asks a lot of the player without much given back. There is a huge amount of resource gathering to be done here and it feels very grind-y. The world (Mars) is understandably a little barren with not much variety in landscape. I found this to grate on me after a few hours but your mileage may vary. The combat is pretty much as basic as you can get while still having it be functional and the sound cues from enemies are somewhat all over the place and random which is a shame as you'll be shooting these enemies a lot to get the credits you need to buy the blueprints so you can gather (lots of) resources. After 25 hours of play all me and my friend have really unlocked is an extra gun or two and the walking back and forth to get supplies is becoming too much to continue.

This isn't a bad or terrible game, everything that's there pretty much works and there is a proper story which is somewhat rare in a survival game although it's told through little data logs you find and read and the occasional voiced piece. It's hardly The Shawshank Redemption though. The Mars setting also deserves a bit of praise mainly because Mars is a current real world topic of interest but it would take a lot of balls to make a game with such a samey map. It is very consistently brown.

I suppose to summarise, this gets pretty dull pretty quick and is nearly impossible to recommend to anyone apart from a die hard space fan with a major Mars fetish. Especially when you look at the abundance of survival games on Steam right now.

I haven't messed with PvP but PvE is pretty boring. The first couple hours are fun exploring and fighting new and different robots. However, the story just takes you back and forth across the map doing the same type of quest every time. This consists of looting, finding data and sometimes a specific resource. I spent most of my time running across the map to get to the story locations. If it just had better missions and a vehicle I would recommend. If you don't mind tedious and repetitive missions but also like sci-fi then give it a shot.

There is a lot of potential in this game. The skill system is interesting and the map is of a decent size. The problem is it still needs polish and hasn't been updated in almost a year. This tells me that the devs ran out of funding and trying to spike interest using a humble bundle. Even if you aren't patching the game regular updates to your audience are a must.

as part of a humble bundle it is worth the price but it seems like the devs have abandoned it so there wont be any changes to the game. it's fun but like most sandbox games once you've built your base and leveled up it gets very repetitive and boring.

I would not recommend this game unless playing with a friend. There are a lot of bugs and crashes.

Eight players were on the official servers west, yet only two players chatted, and the rest were silent or AFK.
The community feels dead.
No vehicles, so it feels like a walking simulator.
It also feels pointless to craft higher tier walls, and crafting alone feels grindy.

I got this in a bundle, so I don't feel cheated as some of the other games were really worthy. My first run lasted less than 10 minutes, because the server was shut down. So, how this is supposed to be played?

If you get it as a bundle, or for free, give it a try. If you have to pay full price, or even in discount, don't do it.

Excellent game, well worth the full price or if it’s on special don’t think twice buy it!

If you like Survival, Building games with a Sci-fi theme, this is an easy choice for you, I have played it for about 9 hours straight and only stopped because of a server restart.
I would like to point out a few things:

*Servers are pretty empty, so it’s mostly single player, unless you got friends to join you, It does have a nice story to follow if you are solo.

*The map is Mars so don’t expect anything fancy, but what you do get is rather breathtaking tbh, The Dev's managed to make an empty red planet look very nice indeed, I run a GTX2060 and have everything on Ultra and get no frame drops.

*The game seems like it will have limited playability due to lack of content, Once again its only $20 so I don’t expect Cyberpunk 2077.

*I prefer PVE so anyone that is like me there are plenty of PVE official and unofficial servers to join,

*If they Brought out an Expansion with more content Id buy it in an instant, (HINT HINT DEV'S)

All in all I highly recommend this game, it’s a real gem!

Game is slow to start which is good when your learning the ropes. Later on the instructions are not as clear and require some figuring out. But when you play around with it you can get there through some trial and error. I haven't played enough yet to see if it gets repetitive or not. Looks like there is a far bit of content and seems they are working on more in the future. In official It's not clear to me which areas are pve and which are pvp. Would be nice if they were marked somehow. Maybe it's just me missing some info but it would be nice if these things were more easily noted.

At first the game has a lot of promise and provides you with the missions and tools to have a great time and has a lot to explore. Once you get a group of friends like I did it becomes an even better time exploring mars meeting other people on servers, but once all the cool new things become tasks for grinding and you realize the story ended way faster than your end game objectives to even get the end game armors.... it tends to strain on you. I can't stress how fast the game turns into a bunch of information into an empty runner of an experience. Maybe it was because I was the last person to leave from my group of friends but once you play for some time and have all these odd bugs that destroy your game like random bugs that kill you and removes all your stuff. (How one friend stopped playing) and just having server issues that locks you out for 2 weeks killing the rest of the people playing to either move on or wait for something of a response. Unless you're playing on a really popular server I don't think this game is worth it if you're just playing solo. Very sad too because now that I've 100% the game and it's achievements, I don't feel that great about my time spent.

I love this game!! I got introduced to it on PS4 and a friend of mine had his own server which allowed me to explore freely..... they also have official servers with PVP and PVE. Its perfect for just getting away and zoning for the grind. It has a lot of cool aspects to it as well such as Base Building. I also loveee the customization features for buildings and your gear. Plus you can interact with other players in-game whether its trying to kill them during a flop event or just being neighborly loll

There is potential for this game to develop an original paradigm to the survival co-op/pvp genre currently ruled by Conan Exiles and 7 Days to Die. MoM needs a little longer to cook: it needs to expand and flesh out its map, to develop compelling pvp mechanics, and most importantly to broaden the skill tree and building options. All the ingredients are here in a rudimentary form, but it has a long way to go before it catches up to its competitors, much less surpasses them.

So i sank 19 hours into this game. I was able to look past the bug that basically corrupts the game files randomly requiring verifying steam cache every other play session. I reported the bug in the forum but apparently nobody working for the game has even looked at them in 3 months. I was able to look past the fact that for some reason nobody ever plays it, and the bad reviews. I was even able to look past the brutal early game - which had there been other players would be worse if you were being attacked by pvp too. I even gifted a copy to a friend who had it on their wish list.

I shouldn't have. The worst part here was I was actually enjoying myself after surviving the brutal early game - until a final slap in the face:
What finally did it in for me was some stupid stupid insta-kill roblox obby game inspired nonsense at the bottom of a very long bunker in the south west of the map that is difficult to get to, and impossible to leave once you enter it. Virtually assuring that you will die and loose all your items. I managed to progress quite far until a bug made the game suddenly decide I was carrying too much and locking me in place as an enemy murdered me where i stood. This is a game where losing your items completely destroys your ability to progress. The quick heal item (adrenaline) is just as slow as a medpack or medical spray.. why bother. Items you need for higher level weapons and armor are very difficult to come by if you ever come by them at all. Cloning chambers? waste of time. You respawn with nothing. Why even add them. Bases maybe handy you can store extra crafting materials, but they have this frustrating time limit which i believe was added to counter high level players blowing up low level players buildings. That at least I could live with.

To rub salt into the wound the bunker that glitched me to death was not even properly play tested, enemies would glitch into walls floors or scenery, I found myself glitched into the wall right where you would land after navigating a laser filled elevator shaft. Prior to that I found myself nearly killing myself when a tunnel you need to crawl down throws you a nearly fatal distance at the bottom.

Considering how difficult it is to get items - a death trap bunker is utter lunacy. Obvious the devs who tested it likely walked around in god and fly mode the entire time they tested so likely never considered these problems. Or if they were aware of these problems they didn't care. They should be fired. Also half the intel (a key plot element) is in another language ? Seriously? So I am supposed to find out what happened, but its in Russian and Chinese? How is that even remotely a good idea even after 12 beers?

Also I didn't play long enough to find out, but apparently the entire planet blows up after every 7 days of in game play time, and if you don't have a high level memory core by then I believe all your progress is wiped. So the game makes you play for hours just for basic gear, you can lose it all by a single moment of distraction, or from random pvp, or from not logging in frequently enough to reset your base timer. A game that punishes you for not playing it every waking hour? What is this facebook?

This game started somewhere as a good idea, you can see aspects of that when you play - or i wouldn't have sank 19 hours into it. But somewhere along the way they ruined it. Badly.

One thing they did do right however, is you can run your own dedicated server. So basically you can run it as a single player game - and you will always be able to play it.

However unless you own the server you play on, don't bother with it.

Excellent Survival Game, especially for the price. The complainers are usually the ones that do not like this sort of game, Survival. The game runs really well too.

Game has very serious issues with regards to people raiding and destroying your base even on pve servers, and devs don't care. they haven't been seen or heard of in 3 months. just another greedy cash grab by another greedy dev using steam as a platform for theft. DON'T BUY. wait and see if devs fix the game. I will change my review if the devs fix the game, but I doubt that will happen.

Fun game, But there aren't any people anymore, It's just you and a friend wandering around this huge map finding bases without any door or security etc. I would recommend this game if there were more online players, But if you wanna talk gameplay and not community then yes it's a good game you can create guns armour and much more. Like i said would recommend if there were more players, Until then i'm sorry but you would not have fun.

have put countless hours into this game and while it was fun for a while the lack of developer support, ultra low player base (usually less than 2 players on the servers at one time) no new content and that the game forces you into pvp makes this a big NO from me

Game play is good..graphics pretty amazing. Think it needs more of a challenge. Come across bots once in a while but that's yet unless you go near the buildings. I think it needs to have more threats as you wonder around......Something to challenge you more as you move around.

its a great program,
Building a base and looking for materials to build. and expand that base.

If i my suggest that if you want to keep players from leaving you have to add more content. Also add more items to build your base one example a better way to light up your interior, More building parts for expanding your base.

Great game with only a few things i would change. #1: We need Vehicles. #2: After building a base out of the lower tier stuff, it would be nice if the welding tool could upgrade the existing structures to the new tiers as we learn them (needing the resources of course). Other than that it is a very fun and immersive game.

Good game, enjoyed it a lot. Played on PvE Official server and had no issues with Achievements and even though there is a PvP Area and PvP Events they are no longer part of progression. The Jet pack is fun, the Vanguard boots are a blast. Best to play with a friend though IMO, the servers don't seem very populated and no one ever wants to trade.

Well, the first missions are locked behind pvp progression, if someone loot something you need you will have to wait for it to respawn, wich will force you to stay beyond the refound time, low trick from the devs I will not even bother to continue to play it.

i will like to have more content more story, should have an create server ingame, not dedicated runned by steamcmd an still more option in the cfg of the dedicated server, like the xp rating, or makeing u're own lore on the dedicated server, or insert an cave from the workshop ... someting like this....

They should warn you that you are entering a PvP dome/area.... and if you get killed, you lose all your stuff. There's no mention about PvP anywhere on the screen/HUD as I entered the area. It just said it was an Event... so I thought it's a coop event....

I really liked this game at first. I could easily give it 4/5 stars for story, mechanics and artwork. The way this dev team handled PvP in the early stage gave non-pvpers a fair and honest way to progress their characters in the face of otherwise oppressive odds. Until we got to the top tier where the door was slammed irrevocably in our faces. At the final tier of progression quests and gear are locked behind pvp.

I'm tired of this kind of hierarchical game design which overwhelmingly favors pvp. PvP is an excuse for really bad, anti social behavior. And when progression is locked behind a pvp wall then those who can pvp opt for the laziest of all gameplay: the stalking and destruction of fellow players with far less gear, stats and skills than themselves.

I won't be cannon fodder. I have uninstalled this game and i won't be recommending it.

Good game up till you need to go and get materials for your suit in pvp area and get all your stuff taken by other players. Done with another game too bad games can't figure out we don't play to have all our hard work stolen buy other players.

The game has some cool elements and if you love Mars, you will enjoy it. My main beef is that it's so damn quiet. Minimal voice acting and lack of diversity in enemies.

I feel like they need to improve the base building element and add alot more variety.

After playing Mom for awhile, I have come to the conclusion that this game has potential. Like so many games before it, I reserve my final judgement to see if the developers are still active on making this game better. The one bad thing is there is alot of legwork. There should be some mode of transportation given the map of this size. Will shall watch and see if this game progresses.

could do with a bit more player base the game seems to run great albeit thats usually based on ur personal hardware i havnt encountered anybugs Tip: keep the mobile constructor u start off with its useful in a pinch even when u unlock a 3d printer for ur base for some reason that printer doesnt let you have the mobile printer recipes but it enables you to make more mobile printers so you dont end up being completely screwed if you some how loose it and forget where it was, outposts somtimes have them in a building so if you have the materials yoyu casn replace one aslong as u got somthing to defend yourself with dont goto greenhouse until you are properly geared or have friends to base with

Love the game, very good graphics, I have not gotten far into the game yet, so the story line I have not much to tell about yet. Lots of things to do and you can get over ran by the enemy quickly an when 1 comes ALL comes. The game has high potential for being good and regular updates which is good to see.

Most reviews are during the pre-release phase. Honestly folks, most all comments i read was bug this bug that. All games will have this and the game is excellent, even for all you nay-sayers. Common sense hardly exists anymore. Please think before you type all the nonsense. GG all MoM is great.

Played a few hours and love it. i only play on an official PVE server and cannot report any bugs so far. Rust on Mars what's not to like? well, maybe an offline single player, or coop version...

It take to long to get anything or have the ability to actual feel like your getting anywhere. FLOPS - this in game currency is only obtainable by slogging it out in a very repetitive manner before you get anywhere near felling like your surviving.

Pros -
1) the graphics are ok, and the environments are quire nice
2) It's only £14

Cons -
1) if you have your entire life to waste then get this game
2) it takes too long to level up or feel like your getting anywhere
3) you get minor amounts of the in game currency when your doing really well, so this game will take you forever
-- so buy it, if you have nothing else to do in your life
4) no vehicles - getting around is very tedious and mind numbing (walking everywhere)
5) there is no creative mode
6) the DEVs have forgotten about all the solo players out there - my mates and I stood up a private server, because we all know how annoying and SH*T unknown players can be, they'd rather wait for you to do all the work and then just kill you and steal all you stuff ****** this happens a lot in the open world servers******* even if your just trying to build your first blocks

Overall - if you put it on a private server for you and your friends only, then this game isn't to bad, it just takes to long to get anywhere meaningful.

Game with so many bugs. Admins or developers do not communicate when you have any issues. First time when I played this game there were cars now there is literally nothing. NOT WORTH FOR 16e.

Okay, so far I'm enjoying this game. It has some issues here and there, but overall the gameplay is quite fun. At least for now, because the content is grinded through fast.

The game looks amazing. Beautiful world. It has a similar feel to Rust but way better looking.
Tried it during a free weekend and liked it, but didn't invest too much time since I had 2 days. All in all though, I recommend it for the survival-type gamers.

MEMORIES OF MARS been interested in this since the announcement trailer. I got a chance to play during the free weekend and I have to say, I did like the game, and spent some hours playing solo. The game seems like a good survival crafting kind of game, but for me I felt like there was not a ton to actually do outside of that. This may have been because I played solo on an official server, but I can say from experience the game would have been more fun had I brought friends along with me.

Overall I feel ok recommending the game, if you are a fan of the genre, there is a good chance you could end up liking the game.

I have played about (cant tell right now, more on that later) I am guessing about 150 hours and have gone through at best 2 seasons. The first and 2nd season went well however, this third season, with the most recent release I have run into some critical issues. The first being it is completely unstable. The system message says that it is loading stack into system reserved sector memory and the 2nd being that as I am writing this review as I am currently in safe mode scheduling and running a disc check due to a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). Personally, I would send the logs, however not being able to (let alone find them when the attempt failed) requires me to have installed a email client to proceed. At this time with the instability issues, I cannot recommend this product for any new buyers with this current build however I will redo this when a new build version is released.

Just needs more. Too much sitting inbetween the survival game like rust or something more along the lines of ark. Make up your mind devs and go with it. Its too stale right now to immerse yourself in any extensive gameplay. i'd still recommend for any survival fan to try out, i had fun. The newer ppl will have fun too. Just add more please.
