Midnight Club 2

Anfang des 21sten Jahrhunderts ging es mehr und mehr Berg auf mit den Computer Spielen. Sie wurden immer realer und wirkten nicht mehr wie ein reiner Pixelhaufen. Rockstar Games hatte sich schon mit der GTA Reihe einen Namen gemacht. Besonders mit GTA 3 Ende 2001 auf PS2 was im Mai 2002 auf PC auch raus kam, wurde auch mein Spielerherz in den Bann gezogen. Man hatte in den 90ern ja schon die ersten beiden Titel gespielt, aber GTA 3 war wirklich der helle Wahnsinn. Heute kann man sich das kaum noch vorstellen, aber Heute ist selten ein Spiel dabei, was alle Grenzen sprengt. Das waren noch die Zeiten, wo viele Spiele den Grundstein gelegt haben, auf dem wir nun sind. Dann kam Vice City im Jahr 2002 was wieder einen drauf gesetzt hat, allein mit dem Miami Vice Stil.
Midnight Club 2 kam dann 2003 für den PC raus. Die anderen Midnight Club Teile haben nie die Welt der PC Spieler betreten, vielleicht weil die Nachfrage eher weniger war. Andere Titel wie NfS haben dort schon ihre Stammspieler gehabt, wenn man auch an NfS Underground denkt Dies wurde kurze Zeit später heraus gebracht und ist nach meiner Meinung zusammen mit Underground 2 das beste Spiel, was auch das Auto Tunen beinhaltet.
Aber was haben die GTA 3 Macher uns damals gezaubert? Ein ziemlich actionreiches Game, wie man es von Rockstar ja gewohnt war, und zwar ein Spiel wo Zäune oder auch Fenster keine Hiindernisse sind und Fusgänger auch den Wagen küssen durften. Und in einem Rennspiel auch Motorräder zur Auswahl zu haben, war auch eine nette Sache. Allerdings gibt es auch negative Punkte wie z.B die fehlende Story. Der Karriere Modus mit fast 60 Rennen in verschiedenen Metropolen ist zwar sehr spannend, aber es kann recht langweilig wirken, wenn es keine Geschichte gibt. Man duelliert sich in Rennen und gewinnt neue Autos.

Pro:
+ 29 Autos und 3 Motorräder
+ damals ansprechende Grafik
+ Actionreiche Strecken
+ tolle Umsetzung der Metropolen
+ frei befahrbar
+ keine Streckenbegrenzung (macht ja auch Sinn, was auch einer der Nachteile bei NfS ist)
+ Zäune, Fenster und andere Hindernisse leicht zerstörbar

Contra:
- schlechter Sound
- keine Einstellungsmöglichkeiten im Bereich Grafik und Auflösung
- sehr schwammige Steuerung
- relativ schwer, da es keinen Schwierigkeitsgrad gibt und die Gegner nicht sehr dumm sind (aber jemand mit Erfahrung und Orientierungssinn findet sich zurecht) [es gibt allerdings Cheats um den Schwierigkeitsgrad zu senken]

Fazit:
Midnight Club 2 ist ein sehr schönes Retro Game, allerdings ist die Grafik nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Auf hochauflösenden Bildschirmen sieht es sehr schlecht aus, aber es macht immernoch Spaß Die Rennen sind relativ schnell gemeistert, wenn man weiß wie die KI reagiert, die sich einem selbst anpasst und man hat viel zu sehen, wenn man nicht nur auf der Straße bleibt.
Das Spiel hat auch noch wie viele andere Games aus dem Rockstar Haus die Möglichkeit für Cheats. Warum ich die erwähne? Schaut euch die mal an, die sind ziemlich lustig und erhöhen nochmal den Spielspaß, grade dann wenn man mal keinen Bock auf ein Rennen hat und ein wenig rumheizen will. Ich sag nur Disco...

Was schon in meiner Kindheit DAS Game war ist es immernoch! kaum zu glauben Ich kann allen leuten empfehlen denen es spaß macht rumzufetzen oder sosntige crashes zu machen. Auch für RPG (Roleplay) Exzelent geeignet. Hoffentlich setzt sich Rockstar Games mal hin und übersetz dieses Spiel eins zu eins mit allen Feautures in die Heutige Grafik. Das Wäre BOMBASTISCH!

Midnight Club 2 is a very old racing game developed by Rockstar. It was delisted but temporarily available today. I seized the chance to grab one as I heard a friend said it is a fun game. He is right. Mechanically it is very primitive compared to modern racing titles, but that simplicity still brings tons of fun. Driving mechanic holds up well despite it is almost two decades old, and it offers some quite unique features - since it focuses on street (illegal) driving, the game gives lots of freedom in choosing your routes and adds lots of random sequels such as big trucks coming out of nowhere or car crash accidentally blocking ways. I have never played other racing games (I didn’t play plenty though) that have as many random elements as this one. It is also the only racing game I have seen allowing you to run over pedestrians stirring chaos on the roads, which is probably because of the shared DNA with Grand Theft Auto, as you can see some similarities with GTA Vice City.

That said, the game definitely shows its age: the graphics are obviously outdated with pixelated models and low-resolution textures; menus are kind of ancient and confusing to navigate; control (key bidding) is complicated and not handy; dialogues and music are full of the early 2000s cheesy tones. But in my regard, the greatest flaw is I cannot get the game to work with my Xbox Series X controller and have to use the keyboard. I am not sure this is universal or because of my specific model, this hurts the experience, as each keystroke does a very large turning and you lose the ability to do any subtle adjustment with analog which allows you to turn any degree you want. Due to this, the control can sometimes feel extra rough.

Overall, Midnight Club 2 is not bad. If you can grab one and overcome the outdated graphics and stuff, good for you and have fun. If you can’t, you don’t miss much. Might as well play Forza Horizon 4 instead.

I first played Midnight Club II on Xbox and to this day, it is one of the most memorable racing games I ever played. The career mode focuses on street races throughout Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo where you will unlock new vehicles by winning them from characters in the underground racing scene. Each location is unique and well designed. I found the Paris events to be the most challenging due to narrow streets and dense traffic. With no boundaries or invisible walls, you have the complete freedom to choose any path. This core aspect is what sets this game apart, along with its clean controls. There is also an arcade mode featuring circuit races and battles. They even included a race editor where you can create your own checkpoints for custom races, as well as a cruise mode for some lighthearted driving. If you are nostalgic for this game or love the thrill of arcade-style street racing, then drive fast with the best of Midnight Club II. Game on.

Midnight Club II is one of my favorite arcade racer, the races can be hard, sometimes even very frustrating, I was also raging a lot but I love it. The characters are very cool as well, I also like that they comment on things the player does or even get mad when the player is to far ahead of the others. AI is also very good they also get violated by the traffic or even crash into walls and other obstacles, sometimes they even hit you or eachother. Each city has it's own champion and the races have their own extra difficulty. Tokyo is quite hard you get very often violated by the traffic at high speeds or even by the AI racers, the soundtrack is very good also the sounds are still good, controls are also good but each vehicle also handles differently.

I asked for a refund from him the same day, and I don't know the reason until today. (But I really regret it).

I paid less than 1 dollar. Exact 3.74 (Brazilian currency)

Today the game costs 506.67 BRL (about half a minimum wage in Brazil). Something close to $90
His key on Steam costs more than an original physical version of PS2.
