https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2397686561

Story

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2397686946

Just to be clear, this is not a bad game. I have played it before on PS3 and I really enjoyed it. That's why I'll start off with the positive parts.

The game is fun, the movement is where the game really shines. Its a lot of fun to string together different moves to keep momentum and this also works the same way in the combat. The combat can be weird at times but it's very rewarding to take out enemies while keeping momentum and not by using the guns those enemies drop. The story was fine, when I played it I didn't really care for it but for other people this might be different.

Now onto the bad parts which really turned it sour for me quite quickly. The main part of the game is the parkour which, on my PC playthrough, felt alot less polished compared to the PS3 version. I found myself getting stuck more often than not, Faith would refuse to grab certain ledges which spoiled the overall experience quite quickly since its such a vital part of the game. On top of that, the performance for me was quite bad for a game that was released in 2009, performance might be down to Windows 10 or my settings but for a game of this scale my PC should not have this much trouble to run it. Gameplay and performance aside, the price of the game was also upped. For some reason EA thought it was a good idea to increase the price from the normal €10 to €20. This is a ridiculous price for a game that released over 10 years ago and it should honestly be reduced to €10 again.

Overall it's a fun game but the flaws in both the gameplay and performance make this, otherwise pleasant, experience unpleasant.

feels like the sequel to Mirorrs edge catalist when you finally go back and play this one again, they need to add an option to use guns again, i can see why they wanted to take it out but i can see how they made it work so well in this, for instance you cant reload you can only use what left in the gun and that certain guns are too heavy to free run with Faith also doesnt aim propperly with most of the smaller firearms (pistols smgs) showing her lack of training and knowledge with the guns. the story is abit rough around the edges here and there but the main thing they missed out on with catalist was the artistic cutscenes the style is there but some of the magic has been cut away slightly with catalist. if they remastered this game it would be better than catalist hands down

A game which has a special place in my heart, its simplicity of the gameplay mechanics, story, music, and even cutscenes and yet it all comes together to create a game which really is greater than the sum of its parts, really showcasing the elegance in simplicity. The soundtrack holds up as one of my favourite ambiance to this day. Free-running and combat all have the right amount of tension as well as comfy puzzle sections. A game that I always come back to. I wish the sequel was as good, because Mirror's edge, despite it's stripped back approach in comparison to any other games today, excels at being a tight, well made game. One of DICE's golden age games.

Mirror's Edge currently on sale for 90% off!

For the length of this game I can beat it in around 4 hours now. Not including secrets of course. Played the original on the Xbox 360 back in the day. The PC version is far superior to that. It is possible to unlock frame rate and Flawless Widescreen gives you ultrawide support. There are some outdated Nvidia PhysX drivers that need to be removed from the game folder for PhysX to function correctly.

Otherwise for the sale price this game is an awesome parkour adventure which sets up nicely for the sequel. Now that Catalyst is on steam I am gonna play that next. Highly recommend playing this game first.

A very ambitious but flawed game. The parkour and free-running still feel great even 10+ years later. However, the combat and guns feel clunky and downright broken at times. The game tries to teach the player a variety of moves and disarming techniques, but it's much more effective to just click the mouse as fast as you can to punch. I love the atmosphere of the game. The colorful but sterile cityscape, mixed with the ambient and glitchy soundtrack make for a really unique setting. Yet, it often feels barren due to the complete lack of other human characters (besides the officers). It's very strange to be running through multiple office buildings with numerous floors and for there to be absolutely no one. The cutscenes aren't that great and look more like cheap flash animation. The plot was also a complete mess with certain plot points that I found to be interesting were never expanded upon
(The whole Celeste being a traitor segment)
. The voice acting was hit-or-miss as well. That being said, I still enjoyed my time with Mirror's Edge. It really is just fun to run through levels and jump across buildings. It's incredibly short and doesn't overstay its welcome. Definitely pick it up if it's on sale.

Released in 2009 - yet still holds up as one of the most gorgeous games to play. The game is naturally going to look and feel slightly dated considering it has been quite sometime, that being said... the game holds up quite well in terms of the most important mechanic involved; movement. Movement is swift and easy to process using the KB/M and performing combos and using the various different routes will add some spice to the game should you wish to play through it once or twice over.

(Note: At the time of this review, my play-time on the PC version was quite low but my experience overall comes from playing the game back on the 360.)

For less than £2 (at the time of this review!), you're going to get some decent entertainment for your time.

It has some jank, and sometimes I felt that I fell to my death a few times where I shouldn't have, but other than that it feels great to play, and has a good story to boot. If it goes on sale, get it. It's really short so full price might not really justify it's length.

+ Fun platforming gameplay that based on your momentum of movement
+ Clean and Sleek futuristic setting and aesthetics
+ Great level design with platforming puzzle

+- Story might be uninteresting to some, but hey it works for games like this
+- Somewhat awkward control scheme

- The combat, especially ranged combat
- Relatively short (around 6-7 hours of gameplay)
- Lacks of replayability

I'd recommend this to anyone who likes action games and/or platformer games, definitely a jam!

A pretty solid game with a ton of replayability. The combat and the story leaves a lot to be desired, however that's not the main focus of the game. The movement mechanics feel great to use and keeping an uninterupted flow during levels is one of the best feelings I've had in gaming. Not to mention this game might have my favorite soundtrack out of anything i've ever listened to ever, it's just simply amazing. Pick it up if you can.

I liked the idea of this game, i really did. Ever since it came out I intended to buy it if i could, so when it was on sale, I did.
Boy was/is it overrated!
The story is bland, the characters boring, and the gameplay is clunky as HFIL.
The 'flow' that is mentioned in the opening cinematic is somewhat present in the game, although it's fast and it's rare if you ever find it at all. For a game that proclaims to have fast action, there's a lot of stop-and-go moments in just the first few chapters.

Great concept on paper, but hasn't aged too well in my opinion. The controls are pretty clunky on an Xbox controller, making movement a pain. Unfortunately there are no quick saves and checkpoints aren't always well placed, leading to a lot of repeated deaths for precise jumps.

The environments are very narrow, similar to a lot of the corridor shooters at the time. There's usually only one specific path you have to go down with very few exceptions. I wish there was more freedom of choosing routes in this game, because it would improve the flow of faith's movement. I'd often be stuck wondering how the game wanted me to proceed in a level rather than just freely moving around it.

More fun on the second play through. The mechanics take some time to get used to, but once you are able to get into a flow, you start seeing alternate faster paths through the levels and pulling off trickier move combinations, which feels great. The combat is terrible, partly by design, to force you to look for a fast way to escape rather than fight. Sometimes this is pretty simple, other times it's incredibly tricky. Most of the levels are well designed, with the exception of the 7 and 9 which are combat heavy and mostly inside. The game looks like nothing else and has an amazing sound track. At it's best, when you are zooming through the levels with the soundtrack pumping it is really in a league of its own. It's a flawed gem and an amazing experiment in gaming.

If you're wondering if it's worth to bother with a 10-year old title, perhaps I can answer this question, as I just decided to play this game again after over a decade.

In short : yes - it is still a nice experience. Its graphics didn't age that badly - even though some textures are a bit blurry up close, the aesthetic design of the city is still beautiful with its clean whites and vibrant colours - truly a tidy modern metropolitan area in which one would like to live (because oppressive government and surveillance predicted there we got anyway, so... :D ).
Character body immersion and feeling of movement are great. There are two main modes of gameplay - you either solve parkour puzzles or run from a hail of bullets, as thankfully all enemies went to the Star Wars stormtrooper school of shooting. The game actively discourages you from using weapons - it can be completed without killing anyone and when you get a gun of your own, it limits your mobility and firing it is rather loud, messy and unpleasant, as it probably would be in the hands of someone not accustomed to firearms.

The main downside of Mirror's Edge is its length - as it provides barely 6 hours of gameplay. It is also sometimes a bit frustrating trying to do that one jump 30 times, as many ledges have very narrow register margin. But once you learn the ropes and embrace hint system, you'll find that the game is well tailored to provide a seamless and engaging experience.

I picked it for dirt cheap, but apparently its price went up considerably since then - so I'd advise to get it on a decent sale, since like I said - it is very short.

A classic game. Even 11 years later this game still holds up decently. The gameplay is rewarding, the better you play the better experience you'll have with the game.

The story isn't anything to write home about. If it's looked at as an introduction to a longer and more fleshed out story then it would serve that purpose well. I'll have to find out in Mirror's Edge Catalyst if the story gets any better.

To put it bluntly, this is a good game to play over a weekend. Hell, you could even complete it in one sitting. Definitively worth it.
Mirror's Edge™

Preview
In a heavily monitored city, where sensitive data is transported “Runners”, you play as a runner named “Faith” who was unconsciously involved in a crime for stealing evidence and gets hunted by both the cops and the villains. Your main objective is to expose the culprits behind the set-up towards your sister while avoiding the police who are endlessly trying to arrest you. Run, climb and jump your way across rooftops, buildings and other structures, while avoiding the “Blues”
Pros
• The running experience is flawless and is sure to give the player an adrenaline rush while playing.
 • It’s not common for Parkour games to have the First Person Perspective, so this game belongs to the minority of this category.
 • The game is not that long, but it’s long enough for the player to get the full Action Adventure Parkour experience.
 • The “Utopian Paradise” landscapes were made beautifully, from tall sky scrapers to small office buildings, all of them give us the urban city vibes. The detailing and textures to the assets in this game are pretty good for a game of its time.
 • While running, the surroundings seem to melt, giving the fantasy like effect that perfect runners experience. This is a good detail they added.
 • They have added some parkour puzzled here and there that distract you from all the high speed action. They force you to stop, examine your surroundings and plan your actions accordingly. A small slip up would make you start all over.
 • A player would usually get lost in the immersive graphics of this game. Luckily, the cut-scenes are cartoonish, and this will throw a different vibe to the player and make them see something different apart from the common white buildings.
 • The Voice Overs, Sound effects and soundtracks are on point and fit accordingly with the intense mood.
Cons
• All the buildings are flashy white, which makes the player bored of the same surroundings.
 • The controls are a bit awkward, since FPP players are used to having a key for sprinting, and this game doesn’t have a key for that. The in-game character automatically gains speed while running, which doesn’t appeal to some players.
 • The combat system is plainly bad. It’s janky and not smooth at all. The gunplay is terrible, the firearms are weird to use since you cannot reload and aim-down sight, which almost all FPP games with firearms allow, and the movement of the bullet is weird, you cannot shoot opponents who are a bit far away from you.
 • The story is a bit too bland and doesn’t quite match the way the world was presented. There’s no element of excitement in it. It is a typical “Bad guy frames an innocent person for a crime and the protagonist wants to prove their innocence” story.
 • This game follows a concept which is usually made in the Third Person Perspective, but they used the First Person approach. This leads to a lot of camera shakes and jerks, which add to the whole FPP Parkour experience, but may seem problematic to those with motion sickness.
 • The game can become a bit frustrating when you can’t make that one particular jump. This encourages rage quitting.
 • There are a few bugs and glitches like seeing through walls, weird animations by AI characters etc., which don’t ruin the experience much. They can be fixed to make the game perfect.
 • Since the story is not appealing, this game is not worth replaying. The only thing one can do after completion is the time trials and collecting the collectibles.
Honest Review
Despite the cons, the game is still a masterpiece. It served its purpose by giving the players the thrills and chills, and that’s what people want from an intense game. I’d recommend buying this game during a sale since it’s pretty old, and buying it at full price is a bit overpay.

Very poorly optimized. Be sure to turn of PhysX in video settings if you encounter any issues with framerate drops. Also be aware of screen tearing issues. Game seems to be pretty CPU-reliant. With the right settings the game is still fun. Unique and worth a play.

Clunky controls and an annoying gameplay-loop. Enter room. Spend 5-10 minutes figuring out which ledge you can grab on to. Find the correct one. Jump. Then to the next. Fall. Restart from checkpoint. Repeat. Again and again. I don't know if in the past this kind of gameplay felt innovative or polished because this game does have a good reputation, but today at least it feels repetititive and boring. The story was also largely indifferent, it failed to grab me. The only good thing I have to say about this game is that there are some cool animated cut-scenes. That's it.

Not recommended.

Nearly 12 years later this game still holds great. Lightning and visuals look good. Doesn't feel aged at all, except for the textures quality. Controls are very good, not clumsy or something like that. After replying this game and then playing Mirror's Edge Catalyst I was surprised that in the new game all controls were the same. This game had a great control scheme. Too bad EA rised the base price.

Now that EA is increasing their old game prices, I do not recommend it. Red Alert 3, Need For Speed (prior to 2015), and Mirror's Edge.

This game is at best $5 dollars now, as default price.
Game not recommended purely for it's price, if that changes I might write a better in-depth review.

It's a very good parkour game. In particular, it's cool to have the option of using disarmed enemies' weapons. Sometimes, the controls can feel a bit glitchy, but in general the controls are good for a game that's also available on consoles. A big plus is that you don't need Origin to play. The graphics are good, but the sceneries sometimes feel repetitive (I don't like highrise cities, so maybe I'm biased). Also, there are apparently different ways how to solve the levels.
There is a hint funtion that nudges the camera in the direction you need to go - very helpful if you're stuck, but without making spoilers.
I generally recommend the game, but I had more fun with SEUM, Acid Spy, and A story about my uncle. For a parkour game, the sensation of speed feels too limited and interrupted, without getting into a real flow.

Wonderful art direction, and unique parkour gameplay. The combat is definitely not its strong suit and I feel it relies on it too much, though. It's a short campaign at only about 7 hours (for me at least), but it has enough extra content to keep you coming back.

However, it's overpriced. $20 for an 11 year old game thats only about a 7/10 isn't great. I'd recommend waiting for a sale, maybe $10 or lower.

Released in 2008, Mirror's Edge is a fast paced 3D FPP that introduced revolutionary movement mechanics never before realized in first person form.

Pros:
-Fun, Fast, Melee Oriented Combat
-Interesting and Vibrant Environments
-Excellent VA and Animations
-Cutscenes are Infrequent, Keeping the Player in Control
-Immersive and Exciting 3D Movement Mechanics
-Complex, Smooth, Envigorating, and Downright Epic Electronic Soundtrack
-2D Cutscenes Have an Interesting, Minimalist Yet Detailed and Vibrant Art Style

Cons:
-Easily Forgettable Characters
-Unremarkable and Hard to Follow Story That Could Have Been a Lot More Than it Was
-Movement Controls, While Very Much Functional, Tend to Only Work When they Feel Like it
-Weapons are Incredibly Underwhelming and Restrictive
-2D Cutscenes Feel Forced and Out of Place

All in all I give Mirror's Edge a
8 OUT OF 10
Do the pros outweigh the cons?

After a few years this game is still really fun. This is probably the only first person platformer that really felt interesting to me with its mechanics. While most people will enjoy the really good campaign, if you want to get more from the game then the time trial mode is definitely worth your time.
Controller is probably better for some of the techniques you have to do.

I love platforming games like this. I think this is a really fun game despite being pretty short. I got all the collectibles and beat the game in only 7 hours, but I don't mind. What was there was really fun! In my opinion mirror's edge catalyst offers a much more refined expierence, everything about the game looks and feels better to play, but this game is still great.
You can't live on the edge all your life Faith, sooner or later, you'll have to jump
Mirror's Edge is a game built on the ideas of parkour. The concept is great and DICE came up with a title that redefined the fps formula. Mirror’s Edge has a very distinct art style and music. And it’s very striking from the beginning to the end.

It’s a sad, dystopian future, where corporations control everything including the law, surveillance and media – sounds familiar? The story is set in an unnamed futuristic city where life is comfortable and crime almost non-existent. However, things aren’t so great as it seems as the city is full of corruption, oppression and censorship. You play as Faith, a young woman who lives her life as a Runner. It’s sort of a rebel group of underground parkour couriers that transmits messages and packages while evading government surveillance. Everything is normal until you get caught up with a murder mystery. It’s interesting, and without spoiling any further, her journey becomes personal, with a touch of vendetta to it.

You need to complete a series of levels that involve performing a linear sequence of acrobatic challenges. These include jumping off rooftops, running across walls, walking along ledges, sliding down zip lines, and getting past opponents without getting hurt. While the story may not be the best or even original for that matter it worked for me.
Pros
-Well connected level design and parkour mechanics.
-Keyboard and mouse controls are implemented well.
-2D Animated cut-scenes were well made for its time.
-Good voice acting and animation quality.
-Flawless runs provide a total rush.
-Clean and striking visual design.
-Sound effects and music really fit the game really well.
-Can feel a little too short.
-Very clean in-game UI, no HUD.
-PC exclusive graphical settings and options.
-4K resolution support.
Cons
-Side/supporting characters lacked any kind of depth and character development and the whole plot feels a bit rushed as a result due to lack of any character development or villain.
-Frustrating amount of trial and error.
-Disarming enemies isn’t as smooth and fluid as I hoped.
-Cramped jumping puzzles ruin the flow of an otherwise amazing parkour game.
-There is combat in the game, but it should be avoided at all cost as it leaves much to be desired (just run if possible because remember you’re a Runner and this game is about momentum and you’re a no match for an armed opponent!). However, do note that enemy encounters cannot be avoided and you will have to deal with them throughout the 6-hour campaign.
-Gunplay is weak and very restrictive. (should have been completely removed from the game altogether in my opinion).
-Finding collectibles is very unrewarding and has very little incentive to it.
-Inconsistent frame rate and screen tearing.
-No Steam achievements and cloud saving.
Final Thoughts
Mirror's Edge is a brave and bold game, no other game at the time tried to expand the potential of first-person action in so many directions. With so many games on the market these days, and with most of them crowded into a select few genres, developers are trying to find new and innovative ways to separate their products from the masses. The most common way in which smart and risk-taking developers do is something like Mirror’s Edge! DICE and EA delivered a great timeless experience.

The graphics and gameplay hold up very well even after 12 years of its release. DICE used Unreal Engine instead of EA’s otherwise impressive Frostbite proprietary game engine for Mirror’s Edge. An amazing-looking core experience (for the most part) that provides an exhilarating rush with lot of side activities and challenges. This game is certainly not meant for everyone so if you like free running/parkour games or just want to try something different then Mirror’s Edge should be on your radar. And since it’s short and very old game by now I recommend getting this game at sale price ($5 or less)!

Mirror's Edge is a glorified first-person platformer

Reasons to play:
 • Satisfying parkour gameplay
 • Unique first-person experience
 • Fun level design
 • Timeless graphics
 • Immersive world and concept overall
 • Replay value in time trials
 • Great soundtrack and voice acting

Negatives:
 • It's short
 • Okay story suffers from being rushed
 • Combat (which is sparse)
 • Trial and error (potential abundance of deaths)
 • Glitches, but none that disturbs the first game player

If any of this sounds interesting, you should play Mirror's Edge right away.
Review
Mirror's Edge is a cult classic like no other. To this day it still baffles me. From the same company that helped bloating the industry with cookie-cutter first-person shooters comes a title that redefined the fps formula. Instead of stale shooters with minimum mobility (a time when movement was means to an end) Mirror's Edge made mobility the gameplay. It was defining back then, making for an unique experience, but it still stands the test of time as an exceedingly enjoyable game that I still come back to. So what is it all about?

In a dystopian surveillance state where free will is silenced and people in the margins are deemed as outcasts, a group of people called Runners work as couriers individually from the regime. You could see it as a sort of freedom fighting, where the traditional media and message systems are governed by the authority. These runners operate on the rooftops of the semi-futuristic city, where speed and nimble action is key. This is your profession. At least it is until the story takes off for real. A fast-paced action flick slash tale of mystery and deception that easily goes down the gullet and stays down there as a familiar friend that holds your hand throughout. The story is nothing special to talk about, but it does the job good enough without offending anyone and creates an exciting package. Sadly, it is a rather short game with a quick narrative, but it's okay as long as the gameplay delivers. And it does.

When I played this on release I was blown away. The parkour hype was at large and I enjoyed the very thought of running across rooftops. With Mirror's Edge I could do just that, and with such ease and elegance. You can feel the speed, you sense the impact of grabbing onto a ladder and the safe landing ability which makes you do a roll is immersion at max. The game presents both trouble-solving in path choices, chase sequences at breakneck speed, with insane jumps and leisure strolls across ledges. All of this is just as much enjoyed in time trial levels that I have had way too much fun perfecting.

The soundtrack is energetic and interactive, with mostly upbeat electronic getting your heart racing, while the main theme (which you don't hear in full until the end credits) is an absolute stunner. It is not personally the music of choice, but I am genuinely impressed with the composers work. The same goes for the voice acting and sound effects which are all top notch.

Despite it's age the game still looks great. A bit dated 2020 but the level-design and light effects paired with the strong use of primary colors such as red makes for a very impactful product that is not only unique, but impressively timeless for an action game. The cut-scenes that are made in a simpler artistic fashion helps out with this as well, instead of relying on in-game footage that most likely would look garbage by today's standards. It is not a free-roaming game, and the levels are very linear, still it exemplifies a sort of freedom in the moment that newer titles frantically has tried to copy. The world, despite it's very clean and white dystopia in disguise, is vibrant and engrossing.

Some passing negatives though. There will be a bunch of traversing through ventilation which will bore you at times, especially a specific level in a boat which has very enclosed platforming is a real downer. There is combat in the game, but it should be avoided at all cost as it leaves much to be desired (just run if possible). The game is a quick one, and the story doesn't leave much of an impact, but this is a revolutionary game which will be remembered far into the future. That's for sure.

A first-person platform game, Mirror's Edge takes place in the dystopian near future. You play as Faith, a messenger, and investigate her sister's disappearance. Thanks to an unusual sense of direction, the heroine moves like a feline and uses many elements of the scenery to move in space, both on the roofs of skyscrapers and indoors.

- Graphics : The player evolves in an immaculate environment, rarely dominated by more than two main colors simultaneously. Clean lines that make Mirror's Edge a title with a very singular design. This PC version benefits from finer and less sober textures, a very slight design change in short. We especially note the management of PhysX for owners of nVIDIA cards. Effects that are not uncommon on PC, despite the big communication campaign led by nVIDIA and EA, but which add a little life to the environments. The lighting effects are also more subtle.

- Playability : Despite some really pompous passages or others where the solution struggles to impose itself in your eyes, the gameplay really holds up. Sometimes nervous, sometimes in a hurry, we may tend to omit timing and synchronization, which are necessary for smooth and rapid progress. Faith's animation is really convincing, enough to feel the effort she makes to overcome certain obstacles. This PC port offers an excellent grip and regulars will appreciate the greater precision provided by the mouse, which is really appreciable in some cases.

- Lifetime : Allow between 4 and 5 hours to complete Story Mode, which is damn short. Of course, the title benefits from a real replayability insofar as the three difficulty levels provide the dose of challenge that gunfights may lack. Of course, we can always strive to unlock all the trophies or find the 30 hidden bags. Certainly, the time trial and the course bring, in particular thanks to the online ghosts, a significant bonus. But we were entitled to hope for a little more, whether it was a trilogy or not.

- Soundtrack : From a sound point of view, Mirror's Edge is a masterpiece. In addition to relying on a magnificent tracklist, perfectly suited to each situation, whether it is atmospheric or more action-oriented tracks, the platform game shines with all the sound effects and sounds that accompany our progress. From Faith's breath to her cries proportional to the intensity of the pain, nothing is to be thrown. The icing on the cake, the dubbing is really excellent.

- Story : In this first installment of the Mirror's Edge trilogy, the scenario is very predictable and does not present a great deal of interest, especially since it quickly deviates from its initial trajectory. However, it has the merit of closing so as to open the story to a hectic sequel.

Summary : There are titles for which one is quite incapable of predicting a plebiscite or a public rejection. Mirror's Edge is one of them and will undoubtedly accumulate as many fans as detractors. However, from my point of view, it would seem very strange to turn your back on a game of this caliber. Its faults are often overshadowed by the originality of the concept, by the mastery of such a unique design and above all by the immersion offered for 5 hours. If you are hungry for a new kind of experience, Mirror's Edge is for you. As for this PC version, it brings a small graphic bonus, a keyboard / mouse handling of great precision and the PhysX effects not really new on PC but which make the universe a little more alive.

enjoyed the use of animated sequences. im generally a fan of parkour games but the controls for this can be extremely finicky and are tellingly outdated---rarely does the parkour feel 'good', and in many situations where faith should be grabbing onto a ledge or wall she just doesn't. these problems can be super amplified by the lack of / awkward placement of checkpoints.
i also found it much easier to stop parkouring completely and kill all the enemies in an area before continuing, as faith tends to not actually move / parkour fast enough to evade enemies well. i feel that the enemies without guns fit the pace of the game a lot better, but there were not very many sequences with them.

Mirror's Edge is a FANTASTIC game. I can't even express how good this game is for a game released in 2008. 13 years later, still one of the best games I have played with a simplistic, great storyline and the thriilling gameplay combined. I'm REALLY impressed by this game.

Although I don't think it should be priced this high 0-o.

Mirror’s Edge is a game about- Oh its already over.

You play as Faith, a very fast lady with amazing cardio. Faith is a runner in the city that I think is just called the city. I’d explain more of the plot but the game decided to end prematurely on me so I’m going to end the plot synopsis early as well.

Mirror’s Edge is a first person platformer. It focuses mostly on running away from your problems so I relate to it very well. Look, I don’t actually know how to review this game. You just kind of run and jump, sometimes you slide, sometimes you run on walls, sometimes you roll so you don’t hurt your little feetsies on the way down.

There’s combat, but you can avoid it all together if you want to, save for maybe one of two situations. You have a punch, a jump kick, an actual nut attack, and you can also disarm opponents. Combat isn’t all that great, but you can steal guns and use them on your attackers. But the guns aren’t that great either and also speedrunners will yell at you.

Mirror’s Edge is at its best when you’re on a roll, no pun intended. Okay, pun intended.
Once you pick up speed and manage to go five seconds without making a hilariously person-shaped hole in the ground below, then you can enjoy Mirror’s Edge at it’s best.
But then the game ends on you and you’re like, “Oh, okay.”

Mirror’s Edge also has a time trial mode, which is apparently the meat of the game. I decided to look up some speed runs, and those folk know how to make the game dance. I’m probably never going to be at that level, mostly because I don’t have the patience or get much enjoyment out of the game to learn optimal routes and shit like that.

Its still good for a single play through. Also, do yourself a favor and play this game with the lights on or during the day, unless you’re eager to see what god looks like.

Mirror’s Edge gets seven falling to your death out of 10.

Greenland Sharks can live up to 500 years.

I think this is my shortest review ever. But the game is also only two hours long so that’s fair.

While it's certainly a keystone of the elusive first-person platformer genre, yikes does Mirror's Edge fall short on a consistent basis. The game's self-advertised flow frequently comes screeching to a halt whenever combat becomes necessary or guards begin shooting your ankles. For something the game heavily disincentivizes, it's strange to see so much of gameplay regress into sluggish FPS or melee combat. The inconsistency of enemies’ gunfire and poor communication of their intentions bring trial and error into an indecent portion of a casual playthrough.

That's not to mention the host of typical ‘pre-2010 Origin game’ technical problems plaguing this PC version. Alt-tabbing is suicide and files need to be edited or deleted to keep the software stable, prevent massive framerate drops, and fix the FoV.

The serene soundtrack, distinct visual composition, and precious lonely platforming moments just barely make up for the atrocious combat, botched set pieces, and clumsy lapses in guidance. Effective gameplay may be paired with slick visuals and rewarding controls, but coming back to Mirror's Edge, even with the convenience of a mouse and keyboard, left a surprisingly bad taste in my mouth. After this revisit, I can't say I’m able to entirely respect the game anymore. That’s a difficult conclusion to come to considering how the game is linked to so many other ideas that I adore.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is EA Games at its peak
Mirror's Edge has a perfect pacing with simple and easy-to-follow story. and most importantly, able to makes you feel like a parkour master (or Runner, according to the game). Still not convinced? You can also experience a motion sickness just like the real thing!
Or maybe I'm just getting old, idk.

This game has absolutely INSANE replay value! The game gets more and more enjoyable the more you play!

Unlike a lot of other parkour games of the time, Mirror's Edge is designed in a way that has aged very well, making it still look appealing today. The game brings out the perfectionist in you, and by playing the game more, you get used to the mechanics, learn different shortcuts and the best routes. Honestly, I would recommend this to everyone, if I had friends.

It's an okay game, I got it on sale and I don't regret it... But the story is meh, the characters are meh, the combat system is meh...
What really is beautiful about this game is the art style and direction. Stunning views that made me forget about the Meh elements previously mentioned.
Oh and btw, the game is only 4 hours long, so definitely recommend buying on sale.

Mirror's Edge is an old favorite of mine. Running along the rooftops of this white, sterile city makes me feel so free. Nothing beats booting the game up and gliding across the skyline. It feels incredible mechanically, and I can waste hours on the time trials. A must play.

A game that still feels next gen, 13 years later.

The principle of brilliant simplicity is applied to every facet of the game. The visual design depicts a clean, sanitized, sterile dystopia of simple, unshaded colors. The soundtrack is low key, ambient, except for the incredibly memorable 'Still Alive' that serves as the main theme. The story, while painting a very interesting world, doesn't overstate it's welcome, remaining simple and utilitarian without trying to overcomplicate or over indulge. The mechanics remain focused on a single mechanic: just run. Even the length of the game, which can be finished in a handful of hours, doesn't drag, and spends only the time it needs before the concept gets old.

This is an easy game to love, because it doesn't ask anything from the player. Just jump in, run through it, and before you know, it will have ended, leaving you with a unique experience you haven't had before.

This game was honestly amazing. The only problem I had was that it was way too short. The story seemed to be really good at first, but then it ended so anticlimactically. (Don't get me wrong, the ending action sequence was awesome.) I just felt that the ending was way too rushed. Also, it would have been awesome to see a freeplay mode where you can just run around the city doing parkour or delivering packages. I know it's definitely too late for changes but that is something I would have loved to do. I definitely recommend it though and do plan to play the second game.

This game is in one word....... A MASTERPIECE! The graphics still hold amazingly today! The controls don't feel as clunky as most games today. Catalyst is a reboot of this game. If you had to play one I would say definitely pick this one. You won't regret it.

Played this way back when on the 360 and I decided to buy it and relive it.

Gameplay: Despite being 12+ years old, it still plays surprisingly well. The parkour is smooth and works well, with the occasional hiccup (not climbing when I want to, etc). The combat feels good too, although very simple it's still satisfying to beat up some cop and steal his gun. My only complaint is that it can be somewhat difficult at times to know where exactly the game wants you to go, specifically referencing the scaffolding level here.

Narrative: Not the best. It's very uninteresting for the most part, and very predictable. Not to mention, a little cheesy at times. You won't be on the edge of your seat on this one.

Visuals: The best part. Again, despite being 12+ years old, Mirrors Edge has some of the best artistic visuals I've seen. The bright simple solid colors just seem to work so well. Don't play this game in a dark room though, or else it will destroy your eyes lol.

Soundtrack: There's some good stuff in here, namely the menu and credits song. Other than that I can't recall anything else making much of an impression.

The age is definitely felt in this at times, and I can't deny that nostalgia is probably influencing my opinion, but I still think this is worth a play if you're thinking about it, especially since it's dirt cheap most of the time.
