Sehr durchdachtes Spiel.
- Finde es echt eine tolle Idee.
- Die Grafik sieht recht fantastisch aus.
- Oberflächen könnten ein wenig aber nur ein wenig besser aussehen. (das ist aber keine Kritik)
- Ja wie gesagt mehr Model wären cool

Model Builder

Am 08.02.2022 erschien die Lebenssimulation von Moonlit S.A. und Kuba Wójcik auf Steam, von der ich bereits die Demo gespielt hatte, als sie verfügbar war. In der Vollversion hat sich einiges getan, nicht nur mehr Content (eigentlich logisch) sondern auch die Performance wurde optimiert.

Entspannend bauen

In Model Builder können wir im Sandbox Modus beliebige Modelle bauen, während wir im Karriere Modus Aufträge erfüllen die uns XP verschaffen um im Level aufzusteigen und so bspw. bessere Tools zu erhalten. Hier steigt die Schwierigkeit auch immer weiter an und eignet sich vor allem für Einsteiger, weil hier auch direkt das Tutorial die ersten Schritte im Spiel erklärt, während im Sandbox Modus je nach Modellauswahl von uns selbst bestimmt wird. In beiden Modis ist das bauen recht entspannt gehalten, wir haben verschiedene Teile, die zusammengesetzt werden möchten und bemalt werden sollen. Eine Anleitung hilft uns dabei die Modelle Schritt für Schritt zusammen zu stellen. Durch optionales Klicken mit der Maus auf die Teile in der Anleitung, erhalten wir auch direkt das benötigte Stück angezeigt, dasselbe geht auch mit dem bemalen.

Rotation und Perfektion

Mit drücken der ALT-Taste und der Maus können wir die Kamera bewegen und somit unser Modell drehen, allerdings empfand ich dies sehr schwierig im Spiel, da es schwer war die Mitte zu finden, so war das bemalen der kleineren Teile oft schwierig, vor allem wenn man zoomen wollte. Das rotieren war oft ungenau und viel zu schnell. Um jedoch die vollen Punkte zu erhalten und somit ein perfektes Modell zu präsentieren, wird genaues bemalen gar nicht benötigt, was den Schwierigkeitsgrad um einiges wieder senkt und Perfektionisten den Spaß nimmt.

Ausstellen und verschönern

Eure zusammengebauten und bemalten Modelle könnt ihr in verschiedene Vitrinen platzieren, die ihr auch Thematisch mit dem PhotoBooth verschönern könnt. Dazu stehen euch mehrere Hintergründe zur Verfügung, sowie auch Effekte, die ihr nutzen könnt. Je nach Größe der Modelle müsst ihr diese in unterschiedlichen Vitrinen platzieren, das ist praktisch um keine eurer Modelle zu übersehen, in dem kleinere mit größeren den Platz teilen müssen.

Fazit:

Mir hat die damalige Demo zu Model Builder bereits gut gefallen, in der Vollversion stehen uns alle Modelle zur Verfügung, die wir auch beliebig im Sandbox Modus auswählen können. Jedoch würde ich euch empfehlen mit dem Karriere-Modus zu beginnen, hier werden euch nämlich die Grundlagen erklärt und die Schwierigkeit der Modelle steigt langsam. Das Spiel ist recht entspannend aufgebaut und benötigt keine Perfektion um fünf Sterne zu erhalten, das könnte vor allem Spieler nerven, die alles gerne genau machen möchten. Obwohl jedes Modell einen eigenen Schwierigkeitsgrad hat, wird dieser deutlich durch die Anleitung die man erhält vereinfacht, hat man bspw. mehrere Teile die gleich sind, benötigt man nicht alle präzise zu bemalen, da die Anleitung bereits bei einem Teil als abgeschlossen markiert wird. Nehmen wir also als Beispiel vier Füße, bemalen wir eins nach Anleitung und die anderen drei nicht, gilt die Seite in der Anleitung als erfüllt, auch kleinere Details kann man hierbei nur sporadisch erfüllen, es gibt keinen Abzug dafür, auch nicht, wenn wir ein Teil mit einer anderen Farbe übermalen. Wer sich daran nicht stört, kann hier also sehr viel Spaß haben, die Modelle sind toll und sehen sehr gut aus, es ist eine bunte Mischung enthalten, womit auch wirklich jeder sein Lieblingsmodell finden sollte. Vom Flugzeug zur Eisenbahn bis hin zum Tank und unterschiedlichen Figuren sowie Schiffe, findet man alles.

This game is absolutely amazing. For what you get it's well worth the money you get at least 20 models that you build in the main campaign, then you can build the models again but using your own colors and designs in sandbox mode. It's exactly like making a model irl, the developers put a lot of work in making sure you get a genuine experience. I highly suggest this to anyone looking to be creative, it's one of the best simulators I have played what are you waiting for buy it now!

Can't in good consciousness recommend. Once the save game bugs are fixed I might give it a go. Kind of a kick to the enjoyment button to find a model(s) you put effort into has been wiped of all colors and such upon loading.

Read a lot of reviews about this game and had mixed feelings about buying. I play a lot of new games that will always have patching coming to make the game better. with that in mind i decided to make the purchase. I build and paint models, terrain and miniatures, unfortunately i have been diagnosed with Parkinson after i developed shaking in my left hand that has progressed over the past 3 years. I have a hard time painting due to the shaking, so was excited to see what this game has to offer. I have played for 8 hours straight and have felt the joy that i once did before my issues started. I would recommend the game to all that love to build and paint, but tell them that this is also a game. issues will arise and be dealt with over time.

Brought the game when it came out. The box above says I've played for 107 hours. Sounds about right.
When I was a kid I built many a plastic model. It was my favorite hobby. Unfortunately, I don't have the space these days otherwise I'd like to take up the hobby again. So when this game was announced I was very excited to give it a try. And after a few weeks of playing I must say I've had a lot of fun with it. Of course it's no match for the experience of building physical models. But it is fun in it's own right. Also, I see a ton of potential for this game. I really hope the developers stick with it and take this game as high as it can go.

By the time you get a feel for the game and realise it's not got much going for it, it's too late for a refund, save your money and don't buy.

If at any point I leave the model, either to stop playing the game for a while, or actually completing a project and attempting to take photos later, it clears all painting I've done on the model. Completely ruins the experience and makes the game unplayable.

As a Model Kit builder IRL, this game provides a relaxing experience in many different model kit areas such as: Mini figures, aircraft, ships, tanks, even mechs and pop culture stuff! Finished the career? No Problem! Use the sandbox mode to do whatever you like maybe for an idea for an IRL model! (which has come in handy recently).

For 15$ when I got it, I have played more than enough of the value and love this simulator with a passion. While the airbrushing is a tad off of real life experience, this game is as close as you will ever get to building and painting a real kit before doing the same outside of the game.

Highly Recommend to anyone who is an avid model builder.

I initially recommended the game and then I got a little further in. It seems unfinished. You get real modeling tools but they don't work as described (or indeed as they work in real life). The putty does not fill gaps. The sand paper adds material (for instance, if you file some down or use a texture, it brings the plastic back). The file is described as existing to clean off flash and sprue pieces but it only seems to scratch the material (fine, that could be useful but that is not what the description says). The masking tape does not come in the most useful variety: tape; oh, sure, it can be a star or whatever but I just want a straight line as I would were I painting a model in real life. The physical textures and scratches do not affect dry brushing or wet washing.

Maybe the stuff above will be patched but there are also really annoying UI choices that I think will keep me from playing the game for a long time (here's hoping there are fundamental fixes). For instance, there are levels where you are required to use a paintbrush (even if an air brush would work better) and the brush sizes are constrained to either tiny or larger than the feature to be painted. It is possible to rotate a decal by individual degrees but this is with respect to the screen, not the model. The panning function is AGONIZINGLY slow. The zoom is insufficient. The decal snap points do not allow the decals to be placed where they are in the manual (mask level). The paint store does not have a search feature, even though the inventory does, and the depiction of colors is REALLY inaccurate (I do not mean they do not look true to life, I mean that it is very difficult to tell what the color will look like in the store). Upgrades to tools do not always specify what upgrade does; yes, of course, I would love a lvl 10 modeling knife, I cannot get by with a paltry lvl 9. Brush tips do not show a profile in the store, so yeah, good luck figuring out which one of dozens you need. There is no function to smooth mouse movement so lines can end up jagged, depending on direction. There should be a way to just draw a straight line with respect to the part; sure that's what the tape as for but as I said, the tape does not work as tape. There is a reason why tablets have styli: the mouse is TERRIBLE for drawing shapes. Furthermore, when I paint a miniature in real life, I can rotate it with my nondominant hand and use my dominant hand to hold the brush (or use a scribe that is held at a specific height for water lines and the like). That's impossible to do with the mouse and keyboard so a way to draw straight lines is really lacking. This leads me into what's probably the most annoying: there is no UNDO button. Sure, it is possible to douse the model in solvent (though it is applied like spray paint and is difficult to get into nooks and crannies) but if we're allowing infinite plastic regeneration via sandpaper, why not also give us an UNDO button. The game should be easier than doing this stuff IRL and it is MUCH harder when you get away from filling parts with color and start using brushes. I am all for getting good but we're talking about a fundamental input device limitation.

Finally, the judging criteria are not clear. For instance, I am pretty sure I got docked half a star for using an air brush (the manual specified regular brush) even though the end result looked at least as good. There are levels where you're asked to be creative with the colors but the manual does not check off the page unless you at least initially use the specified colors. The same level gave me a mediocre painting score, either because I used different colors (even though that was part of the assignment) or because I weathered the parts more than the manual suggested; mind you, there was weathering in the manual, meaning it was not supposed to look pristine. Finally, why bother even giving a modeling score? The parts just snap together. Whether or not a model looks good is subjective, unless a specific technique is tested. A description of the judging guide lines or, barring that, a score breakdown, would go a long way.

I've completed 9 models and encountered zero bugs so far. A tip for anyone who games on limited time. The dragon model (I think it's the third model) takes quite a lot of time. There are approximately 48 steps and a lot of painting and brush techniques. I couldn't finish it in one sitting. You can quit and save mid-build which is really handy.

I have always been interested in getting into building a collecting models but I don't have a steady hand for painting.

I would maybe wait a while to pick it up while the small, dedicated team finishes ironing out all the little bugs and things, as they can be a bit annoying. It's clear they're working on them, though, and the core is a very chill, fun game, which is what I was in the mood for when I bought it.

What a fantastic game and trip down memory lane for me personally. Was lucky enough to be given a key from the Devs and did a short playthrough (about 12 hours) in one sitting. I couldn't stop! It's incredibly addictive, fun, relaxing and damned well designed. Yes, there are some factors that could be improved, and will be over time, like some painting issues, cutting and the like but overall what a fantastic time I had. A relaxing time in my own modelling basement. Whenever I put together models, I preferred to paint them my own way and they came out much better. Here I have the same.

Got through the first build - the building mechanics are great. There's room for improvement (especially around cutting sprue and organizing parts in the window), but honestly? I'm so excited to play more.
