- Faire Checkpointverteilung
- Ein Koop-Modus ist verfügbar
- Flüssige Animationen (auch Gegner)

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1336906634

Cons:

- Viel zu viele Gegner!
- Story dient nur dem Zweck
- Generisches und sogar monotones Gameplay
- Ungenaue Hitboxen
- Unkreative Trial-and-Error Bosse

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1336906033

Fazit:

It seems like an interesting idea but sadly it's just a frustrating mess. The bullet hell bit is practically impossible with the ridiculous hit boxes and the combat is super basic. The game looks nice but feels rough, too rough for me to enjoy any way.

I got this game for free!

I wouldn't play it again if you paid me.

Outland looked promising based on the art style, where it draws its inspiration from, and the initial moments of the game. However, playing through the game does not really give you any sense of achievement or progress. You go from area to area killing enemies in your way and working with the same mechanic that is introduced at the beginning of the game: switching between light and dark (blue and red). You hit red enemies by being blue, dodge red bullets by being red, stand on red platforms by being red, and so on. This does not get more interesting. In fact, it only gets more annoying because of the way the game is designed: be red to stand on the red platform, but be blue to dodge blue bullets. Have fun switching between the two of them rapidly.

Currency has literally only one use, which is health and energy upgrades. You don't get any interesting upgrades. You can only attack upwards and sideways, but you will want to attack down. Get used to it—this isn't Hollow Knight. This game is not fun to play.

What compounds from boring into insulting is the final boss. Do not expect an epic showdown. It is everything you expect and dread from a final boss in a platformer. Minor spoilers ahead:
The boss does not attack. It sits in the middle of a bunch of slowly rotating platforms, firing red and blue bullets at you. You turn red to dodge the red bullets, then you turn blue to dodge the blue bullets. It takes 60 seconds for some platforms to rotate 180 degrees. You jump around breaking tethers, then you hit the boss a couple of times. Then it spawns more tethers, fires more bullets at you, then makes you repeat the process 3 times. It takes about 15 minutes. Per fight. If you die, you start over. It's a great lesson in how to make an extremely boring final boss fight that drags on so long that you simply cannot afford to make mistakes in, not because the boss is difficult and unforgiving, but because if you die, you start over from the beginning.
All in all, this game is boring as fuck

Despite the promise of mechanical depth much deeper into the game, players will spend far too much time in slow tutorial as abilities are dripped out. Waiting this long for the hooks is unfortunate.

I played this game back in 2015 and stopped playing. I came back to this game to see why and...I see why. I just don't like it very much. 2D platformer Ikaruga just doesn't work. The fighting felt janky, the jumping felt janky, among other irritations. I gave up at the City level. I paid 1.99 for it, but I doubt I would get a refund at this point. Pity.

Excellent platformer. One of the best for sure! The artwork, music, and atmosphere really makes this game stand out! The gameplay is pretty challenging and is engaging, you will not be bored out playing this game. The story is pretty minimal but is enough to keep you playing to find out what happens next.

My main criticism of the game is the controls. It only gives you 2 keyboard control layouts and does not let you bind the keys yourself. This makes it somewhat uncomfortable to play at first with the keyboard. I have not played it with a controller so I don't know how that's like. My only other criticism is the high amount of input lag when you're playing co-op online.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants a challenge and a fun experience playing a platformer game. It's a shame though that the game is no longer sold on the Steam Store.

Yeah so

Graphics and music
- are fun
- look good and sound good

Story
- generic
- boring

Gameplay
- some level design is more annoying than challenging
- the light/dark gimmick is fun, but after a while it's just an excuse to throw you into a bullet hell that you can barely dodge
- your hit box is slightly bigger than your character (or the enemies have a higher dmg area than their animations) and you will get hit even when you were certain that the attack would miss
- the movement is annoying as f*ck. Your toon reacts to every jump as if you were running and jumping at light speed
- you will receive a lot of cheap hits because of the fu*king controls
- you will receive a lot of cheap hits because of the fu*king slightly distorted hit boxes
- boss fights are good. Last one is purely annoying.

I cant recommend this knowing that there are A LOT of other games, much better than this one.

If you like platformers, then sure, go for it. Will eat a few hours, but wont offer much incentive to finish it.

From me, a 6/10,

The novelty at the time was that there weren't very many games like it. Nowadays, there's lots of these kinds of platformers and better done. Ultimately, I still recommend it as it's still competently done, I just wouldn't prioritize it.

It's not a metroidvania. You can go back for collectables but they don't affect gameplay. I don't know why people tagged this as one, but they really need to actually PLAY the game before giving it tags.

What is here is a linear platformer with a unique hook via it's color-coded platforms and enemies. It's really nifty, and the level design and boss fights are really well done and quite a lot of fun. Taking about 6 and a half hours to complete, it doesn't overstay it's welcome either. This is a really unique platformer with a nice art style, solid mechanics, tight level design, and large boss fights that eventually get decently challenging too. Absolutely recommend it, one of my all time favorites. - 5/5

*Disclaimer: This game has been removed from Steam by the publisher. I'm writing this review anyway because it was already in my library and a few other friends also have it in theirs.

Outland is a 2d platformer where you play as a warrior who gathers the powers of light and dark to take on the gods of the world. Beat it in 12 hours (technically 7-8, but I wanted to collect all the marks and break all the pots) using a controller. Keyboard is also an option. Difficulty is between medium-hard.

Gameplay - This is a pretty standard in terms of going around, getting abilities, dodging monsters and balls of light, and taking on bosses. There are only two colored powers to worry about, red and blue. The main character's got legs of steel and goes really fast! I feel his adrenaline as I jump off platforms and take on monsters.

Art - The visuals remind me of art work from Greek times. There's a serious minimalist approach to everything, yet it remains firmly in that lore.

Music - Music is catchy and epic in parts, while easy to zone out in others.

Replayability - The achievements of the game make you want to play it again, collect all the marks, and get all the money jars. Speed running is also welcome. And There's a Coop mode. So yeah, I'd think it's replayable.

Multi-player - There's a CoOp mode! You can play with a friend! The downside to this is you cannot get all the achievements unless you do so.

Map - This is my one gripe about the whole game. Once you get to the end game, backtracking can become a chore at some point. I had no issues combing through the map, and appreciated that it shows where pots are and where you're missing marks at some point, but this game would be so much better if there was an option to examine the whole map from one spot instead of 'on an area-by-area basis'. There are too many areas that don't have teleporters, and the way the teleporting is laid out coupled with how the parts in the levels all look similar makes it hard to tell where exactly you have and haven't been without hugging a guide. Let me put it this way: I got all the money pots but one. That one lone pot isn't marked anywhere that I can see, probably because it's surrounded by monsters somewhere or near another map object and obscured. Maybe the game thinks its too small to deserve being marked on the map. Who knows. I cannot open a full map up to scour it and find this missing pot, and I'm expected to go room by room, level by level, to find it. There's no way. That isn't going to happen.

In short, I can see where some people would have a gripe concerning backtracking and the map. But besides that, I do not whatsoever understand the angst and negative reviews for this game. Outland is still a fun little platformer with a unique Greek style. Over all I had a fun time playing and think it's a shame the game got pulled from Steam. The puzzles were great, I was on the edge of my seat in parts, and I felt challenged by the later levels and bosses.

Great game. I got it for free while the game was still on sale. A metroidvania with a colour changing gimmick similar to Ikaruga. Really can't go wrong! Great level design, reasonable difficulty and nice musics. If you can still buy this game on any other shops. It also has online coop play as well, I never got a chance to use it but I am sure other reviewers noted their experience with it.

8/10 would play again

The best $1 ever spent. Thus game is extreme fun while playing with friends. There were a few moments when we kept on falling from ledges and me n my friends couldn't stop laughing. I love this game. Highly recommended.
