Sehr gutes Spiel. Geeignet für Leute, die gerne Spiele spielen, bei denen es nicht um Herausforderung, sondern um eine gute Story, tolle Charaktere und clever geschriebene Dialoge geht.

Even if the story seems a bit random, the game is exciting and gives the opportunity to make various decisions. These affect the end.

The reference to real events also arouses interest. The game must be played more than once to unlock all achievements.

The atmosphere increases with every minute you sink into the game. From initial teenage stories to intangible events (and some spooky fun) to the happy end.

The game is worth playing. Especially if you value atmosphere and unpredictable events.

The thing that most annoyed me was the walking pace and the long roads they always had to take. This discouraged me from exploring further than was necessary. This game is a thriller, but at some points it becomes really cliché and overly graphic. I had to laugh when the girl dramatically jumped from the window and didn't like that characters just casually lay or hanged dead. These moments are intensified by the soundtrack, but I don't get why people like the music so much. It sure was atmospheric but that's it?

It's nice that you can make choices in the dialogues and that they aren't that long and seem quite useful. The art style and the concept are also original.

Well holy cow...this was one of the greatest game playing experiences I've had in a long, long time. First of all, kudos to the team for choosing the voice talent that they did. They breathed life into the characters and the amazing writing of the story. It was clever, funny, and rich in story. It was also visually interesting, beautiful and clean to look at and play. I am thoroughly impressed and so happy there will be a sequel. I HIGHLY recommend this game.

It's a great story with fantastic characters and meaningful choices.

Not too long (stretched) and not too short. But ofc I'd like to more experiences like Oxenfree.

P.S. Thanks for supporting Linux <3 (and works great on the Steam Deck too!)

Bought this game a long time ago and just now getting around to playing so unfortunately I can't request a refund. Here's the thing. Why would they put such loud and distracting music, that can't be turned down or off, in a game that is all about dialogue? I'm finding it very difficult to pay attention and sometimes even hear what the characters are saying. I realize the developers probably feel the music helps set the mood and atmosphere for the game but it is overpowering and distracting. It's disappointing because positive reviews had me really looking forward to this game. Sadly I've only played about a half hour so far and I'm probably just going to give up. I already feel lost and don't really know what's going on because I miss most of the dialogue. Damn shame they didn't put a simple volume control in the options like every other game I've ever played. Also surprised I don't see more people with the same complaint.

A charming, short sci-fi character drama that centers around a group of 5 teens all with varying levels of baggage that compounds with supernatural occurrences during an overnight stay on a nearby island. The dialogue is a little too stutter heavy, but otherwise good, and the characters are all likable (for the most part) and surprisingly nuanced for how short the game is. The main things that change at the ending is the relationship between all the characters, which you can change through how you interact with everyone, and can frankly have some surprising outcomes. Definitely worth the 10$, but goes on sale for dirt cheap pretty often.

One of my top 3 favorite interactive fiction games of all time (the other two are The Talos Principle and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter). Oxenfree alternates between genuine goosebumps and charming teen hijinx, and it really stays with you -- five years later, I'm still thinking over its endings and recommending it to people. Get it. Play it. Play it again. IS/LEAVE/POSSIBLE?

This one's hard to review, the mystery was what got me interested in the game in the first place. You can replay it a couple of times to see different outcomes, but otherwise the game feels incredibly short.

I recommend getting it on sale, if you're even a bit curious of the game. I'm content with what I got for 0,80 cents ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oxenfree has that amazing 1980s vibe in it. A normal teenage camp in an island turns to worse as they discover some hidden and supernatural secrets about it.

A superb solid story. It starts at a slow pace, characters talking about their problems and as the events unravel, it became a matter of saving each other. Some may find it boring but its just a matter of preference.

The dialogue is very dynamic as the game will not wait for you to make a choice and its like listening to a normal flow of conversation.

The voice acting is very genuine, like you can really feel the emotions expressed by the characters and so far it is the best part of the game.

The art is very unique but that what keeps it as the identity of the game.

Overall, a solid supernatural mystery story with complex and interesting character. Dynamic dialogue system and realistic choices.

Looking forward to its sequel

Oxenfree is another in a long line of story-based titles that allow you to dictate the story by making different choices. It's not much more successful in actually achieving the ambitions of that concept than the other games like this mind you, but Oxenfree still offers a lot to keep you invested. The natural dialogue system is novel, even if there were multiple times between my two playthroughs where I could tell that some combination of choices I made hadn't been accounted for, so a line of dialogue didn't match up with what had actually happened so far.

It's difficult to account for so many combinations so while I won't criticize Oxenfree specifically for this too hard, I'm getting sick of this being a thing in every game I play like this. But that does bring up the fact that I did play through this game twice, something I wouldn't do for the vast-majority of story-based titles. It's not because the actual story is worth playing through twice mind you---it's good don't get me wrong, but there's nothing complicated enough going on here to warrant a second playthrough, it's a fairly simple but still well-written adventure.

Rather, Oxenfree does actually change a lot on your second playthrough along with allowing you to make different choices for different outcomes (some of which are a bit too obtuse, but that's the nature of these types of games). Playing it twice is by no means nesseccary but I think it's different enough on your second visit to warrant the extra couple of hours.

If you're fine with a slower title Oxenfree doesn't do much wrong, besides the occasional scripting issue or game-breaking bug that required me to restart my save multiple times. (I won't spoil the story, but make Jonas follows you into the attic for the chest). Those issues did mess up my playthrough quite a bit, but regardless the story Oxenfree tells is constantly engaging along with the way it tells it---can't ask for much more out of this type of game than that.

Great game for the people who play games for the story and exploration(like me).
If you are not in for the story, PAY ATTENTION:

This game,
- Has no guns, no shooting
- No blood bath
- No Demons to blast their heads off
- 0 sword fighting and stealth kills
- 0 beautiful cars to race
- 0 famous football or basketball players

BUT:

It has a great story, great voice acting, great characters and every choice you make matters and will change the ending and the way the characters interact with you. If you don´t fancy that, it will be boring to you.

Did this review helped you? Tell me in the comments :)

While, I'm giving Oxenfree a positive review, there are flaws that I feel might hinder the enjoyment for the average person.
Pros are the artwork, the direction of the story and it's short enough that one could beat it in a few hours, This is a great game for people who are too busy to dedicate many hours to one game in order to beat it.
There are multiple endings that reward the player with completely different outcomes based on how they choose to interact with the NPCs in the game.
BUT one would have to look past some of the flaws to access the different game endings. and looking past these flaws could be too much for the average gamer to play Oxenfree more than one time.

Main problem I found is that there is no option to adjust the game's sound settings. FX, Voice, and Music should have all been sound setting categories, but there is no way to change to the sound of the game outside of turning the volume up/down or muting the game altogether.

The music ranges from awesome to obnoxious. The beginning musical score while walking to the beach area is repetitive, loud and by the time I got the characters to the beginning of the town, I was beyond tired of the musical score for the area.

Another blaring problem in that area, as well as occasionally throughout the game, is the voice acting volume is either too low or too high. The characters, while not terrible, aren't exactly likable and spend the majority of their screen time griping about things nonstop while lacking any real ability to come to resolutions. I found it hard to care for any of the characters and didn't care one way or the other if they lived or died.

The controls are wonky and aren't always responsive and I'd actually say that the game plays much better with a controller than it does with a keyboard/mouse.

It's worth a look and this game is cheap when on sale here or other sites. The flaws hold the game back too much to deserve the heaping amounts of praise from the mainstream critics. I applaud the vast majority of the game, but the NPCs all sucked to interact with.

I still look forward to Part II and hopefully the storytelling and characters mature, otherwise I probably won't care to play a part III. If the point of the game was that privileged teenagers suck, then message received.

when i first played this game, i didn't understand why everyone seemed to love it so much. it was fun, sure, but pretty bland and forgettable compared to other choice-based games like life is strange. it took until my second playthrough for me to realize i was completely wrong. oxenfree was suddenly much bigger than i initially thought — seemingly irrelevant details became major plotpoints, new information was available, and new endings were unlocked that wouldn't have been possible before. the attention to detail is so cleverly subliminal that you almost don't notice the mystery unfolding right in front of you. i rarely (if ever) play games more than once, but i'm SO glad i decided to this time. currently on my third playthrough, and i honestly doubt it'll be my last.

tldr: replaying is an absolute must, i promise it's worth it!

I'm glad, that I got this game gifted together with the advice to wait for a certain (early) point, for the game to unfold its potential. Otherwise I would have requested a refund after 15 minutes!

I'm impressed on how many levels this game gets me to not like it in the first minutes.
- You are bombarded with fast talking from one of the other characters.
- The time for you to choose an answer in dialogues is very short. Too short sometimes for non native speakers.
- All together with music you can't disable or lower the volume.
- And on op it has a problem with (only?) XBox-Controllers, which lets the controller constantly vibrates!
(This seems to be a common problem, wich can be temporarly fixed with using the ingame radio device.)

There were also problems or better annoyances that occur later and during the whole game.
- The music is good and fits the general mood of the game, but often - at least for me - it doesn't fit the current situation.
- You can't leave the paths not even a pixel.
- In some cases, when you stop a certain dialogue by starting another one, you can't leave an area.

So with all these points, why did I still recommend it?
Simple: The (meta) story and character interactions are good (choices there lead to different endings) and I really like the graphic style.

I'm coming from Night In The Woods and this was recommended as something comparable. Well, maybe because it's story-rich and allegedly has choices that matter, but this feels totally different.

Oxenfree makes the worst first impression! No music volume setting, which you later find out you don't need, but in the first segment it is distractingly loud and annoyingly mediocre and makes listening to the dialogue difficult.
No casual keyboard input because you apparently need the mouse to click on speech bubble options. I am not 100% sure because the game has no user's manual! This means I was also not sure how precisely the autosave system works and had to find that out through trying it and realizing some progress with tedious dialogue was lost because it only saves at the beginning of a zone, or maybe also at some points during it, but hard to tell.
And the game is using the regular windows cursor, which hurts immersion another bit. And that cursor doesn't vanish on keyboard inputs or anything. Always gotta have it there, or move it to the screen edge and then panic when you gotta click on a dialogue option.

The game also tries to connect to an Amazon server at every scene save. Dunno what that is about. I have cloud saving deactivated and many other games don't do this stuff. But dunno, maybe a new thing with Steam.

The awful dialogue system gives you a taste of what's to come: Casual chatter that is hard to get a grasp on because you are being presented dialogue options that apply to when someone has finished talking but appear while they are still talking and when they are finished, they have faded away, and those options are also apparently supposed to shape a background story of the main character that you choose but can at best only haphazardly click randomly because you have no time to even think. It very much coerces you to just not choose any options at all and let the dialogue continue without your contribution, but in the cases where you are expected to say something or do something, the reactions from the other characters quickly get weirdly pushy and impatient. Ridiculous, stressful. It's like you're supposed to write a story in realtime. Making important decisions under unnecessary time pressure. Plus, sometimes the dialogue option you choose interrupts someone's dialogue instead, and there is just no way to tell. It's a total frickin' mess.
And then of course is the issue with when dialogue options are totally not like anything you would say in a situation but frustratingly inept.

The 'heart' that NITW has is missing here. Some clichée spooky story content is thrown at you, hard to relate to or get moved by, and the mood changes so quickly from brief bouts of horror back to casual walking simulator. It's like a boring routine where you follow a script through a spooky-movie, and it's all quite confusing.
Also, sometimes on your map all objectives are crossed out even though you still have one that is either already crossed out or not even written down. This further contributes to the wandery, aimless mood of the game. No strong story push, no urgency.

There are two menu options that are probably some kind of extra content, but could also be web links. I don't just want to choose them without having any clue what they are about. Their naming doesn't make that clear.

People say this has replayability potential, and I wish I was motivated enough to explore that. Although towards the end of the story it starts to appear quite clever, I'm not sure whether doing another playthrough would feel rewarding or whether it's just like more intellectual toying with the player where you mistakenly feel like you're achieving anything. Some themes about the story kinda convince me to just call it a day, even though other parts seem like the story is just really beginning with the second playthrough. But there's too much generic spook-mystery writing for my taste. I think the bad dialogue system is a major contributor to my inability to relate to the characters. How could I engage in playing differently the second time if I didn't even make fully deliberate choices the first time?
I'm probably just gonna read up somewhere about the greater story arc and how it all works, after taking a peek at the beginning of the second playthrough maybe. (Although even undecided about that, for reasons of meaning.) - I hear to get different results you might have to play in a very different style, and that would mean having to become better at dealing with the annoying dialogue system plus then definitely not doing things in my personal style, plus having any grasp on the complexity of the convoluted story so that you actually know HOW to do things differently.
I am not gonna be a completionist on this one.

Furthermore, I would say a decision not to do several playthroughs even has meta character. Like that saying: The only way to win the game is to stop playing.

I also never tried the perfect pacifist ending in Undertale because there I could fully identify and be at peace with the choices I had made.

Oxenfree is game about a group of friends who stuck on a supernatural island with a time loop.. It's kind of like 1980 teenage horror movie that gives the vibes of Stranger Things or Hardy Boys.. VHS synth-pop soundtrack and great voice acting makes u feel like ur actually watching a movie..

It took me around 5 hours to finish the first play through and and it was really amazing... . I think i got the best ending as i was able to save everyone.. And i couldn't put my controller or the headset down until i got to the ending..

Go For this.. Don't forgot to use a controller and a good headset for the best experience...

Meh... I really wanted to like this game, i liked the whole choose your dialogue aspect, and i'm a fast reader so i really didn't struggle in that regard. That's where it really ends for me.

The artwork is neat, the sound is fine, but it just lacks... Something.

Maybe i'm just not the intended audience for this game, it seems to be aimed more towards 12-18 year old kids. There's very subtle humor to the game, but it's very clean and sterile, so i assume that's not entirely a selling point to this game.

4 hours in, and it's a walking simulator with a tiny bit of mystery and tons of absolutely mind numbingly boring dialogue, which as an avid reader I should be completely into.

I just don't understand what people see in this game.

I'm speechless. That's how good the game was. It took me 4.8 hours to finish the first ending and I have to say it was amazing.
The story is so good you just fell right into it and can't put down the controller until your DONE!
There are really lovable characters and a great storyline.
The horror and jumpscares are amazing. I was thrilled by them.
If your questions about purchasing this game then you shouldn't.
It's worth every penny.
So what are you waiting for? GO FOR IT!

I liked the overall artwork of the island, and the sound effects really help set the mood. However, it was not enough to keep me interested in the very slowly developing story. After nearly 5 hours of walking back and forth across the island I learned a few things. 1) There are no puzzles to solve 2) tuning the original radio to several sweet spots to progress the story train was tedious 3) the next radio you receive has twice as many frequency slots and only get worse 4) the game forces you to make split second decisions about what your character is going to say, and unlike other reviewers I can read fast and English is my first language 5) those decisions have very little bearing on what is going to happen next. I was hoping this game would be a change of pace from what I usually play, and might take me back to the golden era of LucasArt games of 90's, but Oxenfree does not live up to my high expectations.

Great game with interesting story and characters. It's hard to fit it into a specific game category. Problably you could describe it best as something between visual novel and walking simulator. The gameplay feels kid of relaxing, despite all the paranormal/creepy stuff happening around.

For the downsides, some of the dialog options were disapearing for me a little too fast, but on the other hand I'm not the fastest reader and eanglish is not my first language. The other thing is that some of the transmissions received on radio were disturbing at least, or even sounded like satanic, although I hope the intention of the developers was just to deepen the atmosphere of the game.

Overall really cool game. I have already completed it like five times or so, so that says something.

I'm an absolute sucker for story-driven games with satisfying character development, and Oxenfree is an underappreciated gem in that regard. Your dialogue choices matter. Your decisions matter. Virtually everything you do in this game matters, and it all adds up to a compelling and spooky adventure!

It's definitely worth checking out if you've got the free time!

This game has such beautiful scenery! For about the first 20mins I didn't enjoy the characters or plot very much, but as the game progressed both got better, in my opinion. I would enjoy playing it slightly more if it was a bit more difficult (difficult to figure out what to do/where to go next, etc.) as so far it's been really straightforward, but that's my only complaint.

Lovely game!

It has very eye friendly graphics, artistic, game play is dialog heavy but very engaging and keep you pulled into the game, I started game and finished it in one sitting, It not long game but I felt this was just right, I liked it, I didn't want to stop playing, but also I was satisfied with end and didn't feel like it needed to be longer.

I do recommend you to try this game, just be sure that you know what you are getting into, it's game where you will mostly listen. read, have dialog with characters and your choices matter, if you give a game fair chance it should pull you into its mystery and interesting story, mechanics are not hard, simple but good like the rest of the game, it keeps you focused on the game, I had fun, if you are not patient and want action, combat, hard puzzles, then this isn't for you, this is more for people with patience and take it slow, pay attention to dialog, enjoy in world where game put you, immerse yourself into it and it will be great.

The less I say about this game the better, but I have had the audacity to start typing out this review so I'll note a couple of things.

Oxenfree is a supernatural teen-adventure game where you choose your own dialogue and contribute naturally to the flow of timed conversations, as you and your friends spend an evening on a famous, isolated party island. As your time on the island becomes more and more bizzare, you make many different momentary choices that decide a range of story outcomes. What makes this game unique is how excellent its characterisation, presentation, sound design, and intelligent, mysterious plotline is. The more you peel back, the more you realise how much you don't know.

They've really nailed the awkwardness and anxiety of teenage relationships, and how the situation these characters find themselves in begins to fracture already vulnerable social ties. Each character is well thought out, with balanced flaws and likeable traits. This is all punctuated with one of the best indie game soundtracks out there in my view, which is deceptively minimal but very effective.

You might not know all the answers by the end of the tale, but you'll be glad for the journey.

Lovely story with several possible outcomes and an even more amazing soundtrack. Take care of your friends, or not, thats up to you. Be a douchbag and slap your friend, make enemies with all or take care of those you don't know. Save everyone, or maybe just yourself.

Simple mechanics and style. Although speachbubbles disappear fast, its still a game I'll recommend playing together with friends or family on the TV. Just pay attention, you don't want to miss out on any dialogue.

How do you remember someone who doesn't remember themselves?

It's like buzzfeed unsolved supernatural but just a bunch of spirit boxes taking over the show for the entire season. I love the spooky vibe of this entire thing. I really enjoyed the art, and a 6.5/10 for plot. No jumpscares or anything like that, that's alright for me. Overall, really fun to play. I got pretty invested in the characters, especially Alex and Jonas.

I have a big dialog fetish, and that's what the gameplay of this game consists of. Approximately 90% of Oxenfree is centred on the banter between the characters, and I'll be damned if it isn't done right. This is my new golden standard of what videogame dialog should look like. From the writing and voice acting, to the way it was implemented allowing you to 'slide' into another characters comment interrupting them or saying nothing which losses you some conversation options, but leads to new ones. These were the most natural feeling dialogs in any videogame I encountered. Even the Witcher 3 with his beautiful acting made me feel like I was watching a movie or a play, but Oxenfree made me feel like I was part of the conversation going on screen.
You have to be aware though that this is what you are getting into. There's not much more to this game. On the other hand not many others made me go through them 3 times and enjoy it, and still have an appetite for a 4th run. Take what you will from that.

Duraiton: 4 hours.

This is a strange one to recommend. The voice acting is quite good and the story ends up working fine. The walking around can get quite tedious at times though and the game progresses at a snail's pace. But I think that is deliberate to get you to hear all the dialogue. The radio was annoying to scan through to try to find the right frequency at times.

Recommended for adventure fans. 6/10

What a nice adventure game, a quite different story on that one. A bit spooky but wont scare the majority of players. What you'll get in this little gem where your choices will change the story a bit is a 5 to 7 hours long story, characters that you will love or love to hate, a simple but well done artstyle that fits the ambiance, quite a few different endings and an overall experience that really stand out from the differents adventure games you played. I wouldn't go as far as calling this a masterpiece, but I did not regret my many playthroughs and will definitly remember that experience.
Graphics : 7/10 A high 7 because it fits the narrative and ambiance. Great on PC but hard to read on mobile screens.
Sounds and music : 8/10 A high score there also because it fits perfectly the narrative and the intended ambiance of the game like the graphics.
Replayability : Yes!
Difficulty : Next to none. It's focus is really on the multiple choices story and not on puzzles.

I recommend to every adventure games fans and to people who wants a different experience.

A nice little adventure - and by nice I mean enrapturing and kind of creepy but I can't stop.

The radio is a cool mechanic that has so many uses, some which you won't recognise straight away. You have to do a bit of trial and error and by doing that, you open up more interesting things if you're in the right areas. Each story is different, too; you're encouraged to replay and by choosing different dialogue options you can flip the entire story on its head and come out with a completely different ending to your first go.

Third playthrough in the week since I brought it here I come!

I thoroughly enjoyed this game and highly recommend it. Your choices can actually affect the outcome of the story which is neat.

Pros:
- Interesting story
- Likeable characters that are very well voice acted
- Good music
- Choice affect the ending (though not the core story)
- The collectibles help explain the story and for the most part aren't too difficult to find

Cons:
- Movement both with keyboard or controller is finicky and needs some polish
- Movement speed isn't bad, but gets frustrating when you have to go back to areas you've been to. It either needs to be increased, or fast travel added
- Under some instances depending on where you are in the story you may not be able to get to certain areas, though there doesn't seem to be a valid reason for this. It made me think I had locked myself out of a collectible.
- I have mixed feelings about the achievements that require multiple playthroughs. Rather than being related to the ending, they're related to small aspects of the story that can change depending on your choices. To me they aren't significant enough to warrant one extra playthrough, let alone two. I'm not convinced there'll be enough change to keep it interesting

Verdict: 8/10

The story is creatively mysterious in a way that it's crafted carefully and they put details everywhere even in the soundtrack. The characters are well created in a way that they have different personalities and life problems. Sometimes the dialogue may get cheesy, but I don't really mind. This game can feel a little bit like a walking simulator where you can explore the entire island sometimes, but there's nothing wrong with doing that because you get too see dialogue and sometimes find secrets. It's available on your mobile device as well if you buy it there and it's offline too if I remember. There's multiple endings and this also deals with a lot of sci-fi and supernatural plus teen adventure all in one. Not going to compare this story to Stranger Things though (because I haven't watched it), but instead of facing the Demogorgon, you're facing a
shitton of angry spirits who have nowhere to go
. But in a sense, it gives off a Gravity Falls vibe to me.

Would I recommend this game? Yes. If you like story driven mystery games, then I think this is a must have. Thanks for reading and have a lovely day.

I would highly recommend this game if you like mysteries s

Full Review: https://dagondogs.com/posts/oxenfree

TL;DR:

Oxenfree is a neat, interesting little game that tries to tell a much bigger story than you’d expect. I’d say that it succeeds, for the most part. The option to explore the environments could and probably should have been left out, considering how slowly the characters move through the environment. The puzzles are not the most engaging or complicated. However, the story is an interesting one that is well-paced, and told through dialogue that feels active and engaging, thanks to the gameplay style and quality voice-acting. It’s a short game that’s easy to recommend if you’re looking for a story-driven, young-adult-adventure type of experience.

Whilst I'm ultimately recommending this, I do feel like Oxenfree has its faults.

Most notably the 'Fallout 4'-esque dialogue choices that only gives you the briefest snippets of what your character will say - and quite often you end up picking an option that has a totally different tonal shift to what you were aiming for, turning the character hostile (or vice versa) when you didn't mean to. Like I said, Fallout 4 suffered from this, and Oxenfree does the same trick.

Also, for a game that has multiple endings, it's far too long with a character that moves far FAR too slowly. I feel like this game could easily have been condensed to just over 3 hours with little missed out if the character could just walk a bit quicker. This is not a game I'm going to rush back to complete again. The mystery at the heart of this game is quite uninteresting too, and not one which will pull you in for a repeat play either. Whilst the sci-fi/mystery story seems interesting at first, the 'plot' is wafer-thin with little explanation come the end of the game.

In terms of walking simulators, I've played better. In terms of games with a mystery, I've played better. Games with multiple endings? I've played better.

And yet... I love this game despite its obvious and glaring flaws. The art and voice-acting in particular are superb. Some seem to find the characters quite unlikable, but I prefer them over those found in something like Night of the Woods. It's a perfect length for... one playthrough, if not to find the alternative endings. The dialogue system itself, allowing you to seamlessly interrupt the flow of the conversation and allowing for the other characters to return to what they were talking about before said interruption, is an interesting system that generally works well (apart from a few instances where the dialogue options time out before the other character finishes talking, a little frustrating as you want to hear all they have to say before you interject).

A great choose-your-own adventure type horror game that requires quick decision making in combination with careful planning. A bit drawn out because of the slow, manual travel required to navigate the area, but the time in between areas is often packed with secrets and story progression. 8/10, points removed for tedious backtracking.

In my ongoing and likely futile effort to write a Steam review for every game in my library (#193 out of 555)... it's time for Oxenfree.

Oxenfree is a teen supernatural sci-fi/horror adventure game with an innovative dialog system and an emphasis on NPC interaction instead of obtuse puzzles. The result is one of the most refreshing adventure games in years, that's as much about getting to know your friends as it is about uncovering the truth about the requisite supernatural shenanigans afoot on the mysterious abandoned island.

Note: also played on Nintendo Switch.
