Renagade Ops ist ein älterer Arcade Top Down Shooter, der mit guter Grafik, effektvollen Explosionen und guter Steuerung zu gefallen weiß. Auch die passende Musik und die starken Sound Effekte sollten lobend erwähnt werden, weil sie zur guten Unterhaltung beitragen und das Spiel zum Großereignis macht. Bei diesem Spiel sind verschiedene Helden/innen verfügbar, die mit gepanzerten Fahrzeugen oder Flugzeugen die Gegner finden und vernichten müssen. Durch die Unterstützung vieler unterschiedlicher Waffen und Raketen sind diese Missionen das reinste Kinderspiel und auch der günstige Preis ist nicht zu verachten. Fazit: Effektvoller Action Shooter mit großartig inszenierter Handlung und hervorragender Steuerung, zum kleinen Preis. Empfehlung.

Dies ist eine moderne Version der kurzweiligen Top-Down Ballerspiele aus den 90er Jahren (es lebe der Amiga). Es knallt und rumst an allen Ecken, das Gameplay ist flüssig und einfach. Und zu zweit geht das Spiel sogar im Splitscreen.

Das Spiel hält alle Versprechen die es gibt und ist als Ballerspaß für zwischendurch sehr zu empfehlen.

Was zum... geil. Einfach nur geil! Spielen macht wieder Spaß, wie damals in den 90ern! SEGA kann's also noch!

Wer gerne hemmungslos durch die Gegend ballert und dabei verschiedene Vehikel einsetzt, wird mit diesem gut gemachten, sogar deutsch synchronisiertem, Spiel seine helle Freude haben.

Ballern bis der Arzt kommt, Primär- und Sekundärziele erfüllen und das ohne großartig nachdenken zu müssen.

Genial, macht wirklich Spaß. Würde ich so weiterempfehlen - besonders gut spielbar mit dem Gamepad. ;)

Pretty sweet twin stick shooter with a nice variety of vehicles and power ups to make use of. Just about everything in the game is destructible and you may spend extra time on each stage just plain blowing things up for fun. Campaign mode is fun despite the pretty basic story line. Supports co op play and is actually a good time with a buddy. Holds up well despite it's age and goes on sale super cheap!

Riding a vehicle and fighting evil forces in a Twin-stick shooter is something that we won't see that much in video games. The game suggests that we play with a controller to get the best out of it but mouse and keyboard controls are work very well. Visual design, voice acting, and great physics are some of the strongest points in this game in addition to the satisfying combat, character progress, and missions score system.

There are seven playable characters available to play in missions. The story is engaging and interesting. The best part of it is the unique comic-style representation of the story and in-mission dialogues. The fast comic shots of enemies getting beaten by the characters that we will see in the base sabotaging part of missions are very engaging and fun!

Even though most missions can be very challenging to finish, the amount of chaos and explosions that we can make in each mission is so satisfying and fun!

(+) Friendly to low-end PCs.
(+) Available co-op with your friends.
(+) Very good game art.
(+) Different soldiers with their own special powers.
(+) You can upgrade your car into three different categories: defence, attack and special power.

(-) Very short campaign to play. You finish the game within 3 days.
(-) Controlling your car is hard – look for options and enable “Tank Steering”.
(-) The game has potential – but developers chose to make a simple game.
(-) Every in-game object has its timer. So, DO NOT try to explore the map.

One of my favorite twin stick shooters. I owned it on 360 and beat both DLCs, then bought it on steam. The game recommends a controller, but I do better on these types of games with mouse and keyboard. I struggled many times using the controller when I beat this on 360, but on PC, I'm almost done with the main campaign and on normal, it's very rare I die at all using mouse and keyboard.

I wish this would have gotten a sequel. The destruction is great looking, the DLC characters.. they may be a little OP but that makes them fun to use, as their abilities are not only great but seems to charge much faster.

The game is just a good, shut off your brain, and blow stuff up type of thing.

I got this game for free during a giveaway in past with DLCs. It's a good arcade shooter. The graphics still look good. Nice explosions everywhere, just like in Just Cause which is from the same developers. The game offers a few vehicles to choose from, each one with special perks. The story is good which is told by comics screens. You can play it in coop or split-screen too. It's a good old shooter game, but it's short.

Foundations of a decent game rendered frustrating because some cunt thinks checkpoints are overrated...

It's a car based, frantically paced dual stick shooter. There is a lot to like but there's also a lot to resent. The aforementioned checkpoints (or lack thereof), make it difficult to recommend this game for solo players.

Driving and shooting are fun, until the game forces a timer preventing you from killing everything. There's no reverse, so if you get stuck on a wall you'll just have to wait until the game decides to flip you.

You'll have to bypass a lot of enemies and objectives in order to complete objectives in time.

Some levels last for what feels like 20+ minutes, you'll have to start over if you die one too many times.

Switching to easy difficulty disables the levelling mechanic. You can only continue from a level on the difficulty level selected, so no temporary turning to easy for a challenging levels.

Graphically this game still looks pretty good. The story is the kind of ridiculous nonsense you'd expect from Avalanche (reminiscent of an 80's action movie).

All things considered I was expecting to enjoy this more than I did. Ultimately I feel little more than frustration.

I just simply love this game! Great story for what it is, and the gameplay and feel is just awesome! I have been hoping for Renegade Ops 2 -or at least some more mission DLC for years, and still hope for it. Highly recommended. Absolutely brilliant as a couch coop.

Just putting it out there that merely disabling MSAA and V-Sync basically fixed crashes for me. It did not eliminate them entirely, but I was able to go from consistently crashing, halfway through level two, to playing all the way to the final mission in one session.

This game is utterly ridiculous and great. Huge G.I. Joe vibes, a dumb af plot that makes absolutely no sense, terrible voice acting in the best way, and tons of explosions and frenetic action. Maybe not worth $15, unless you're a score junkie, but even then the lack of a restart button and infrequent crashes will probably put you off before too long. Really, it's just a memey bit of mindless fun that's well worth the price if you see it on sale.

Very good twin stick shooter, with lot of action, upgrades, and a caricatural story. Supports ultrawide screens (3440x1440). One single crash in the entire campaign (9 missions + 3 for the Cold Strike DLC). Really pleasant graphics for a 2011 game, which has aged very well. Definitely worth a buy.

Take the best part of the Expendables movie franchise ie: the beginning of the 2nd movie where they're just wrecking shit in their machine gun mounted vehicles and make a full game out of it, and you'll have this. Cheesy 80s action movie plot and all.

Most fun isometric online 4p coop on steam with steam invites and matchmaking!
Works on win10 with no issues.
Design is old skool much like jungle/desert strike.

Probably an AAA title back then, which means no boring grind or other gimmicks present day indies use to pad content. Content has been tested and balanced by paid testers, awesome debris physics, all eye candy. And player skill rewarded just like the old days.

Zero skin dlc cancer. No lying devs trying to trick u into paying to be a beta tester only to abandon the game soon after launch.

Online coop for 2-4 players. Raknet netcode seems good. Full campaign coop, fully voiced, ingame cutscenes mixed with comic art scenes.

If broforce had a 1 million dollar budget this would be it! Get the collection on sale frequently for 4 bucks.

A decent top down twin stick shooter. It has a nice story which is intentionally cheesy. Gameplay is solid, you shoot everything on screen and blow sh*t up. It is that simple. Just like the good old NES games. One thing I dislike is that there are no mid level checkpoints. If the game crashes, you are forced to play the entire level all over again. Other than that it is an enjoyable game from start to finish.

I enjoyed the time I had with this game. I have played with my buddy through the whole campaign however, frankly speaking, this game has not much content and variety. Even if it seems to have a lot different characters, you won't be able to find the required desire to replay it again. Grab it if it is free if you want to play coop otherwise there are more plausible options out there.

Extremely fun 3 hour ride.
You just launch the game sit back and blow stuff up alone or with friends. Had tones of fun in both cases.
Some negative aspects of the game:
-can't skip cutscenes
-only 9 missions (+3 or something with the dlc)
-controls are not optimized for keyboard and mouse
-achievements are singleplayer only
-you can't play multiplayer with keyboard and mouse

Besides all that, everything is simple: you install the game, (for multiplayer) you quickly set up a lobby and using some steam features you can invite your friends to play, you learn almost everything from the first mission.
There are 5 characters (+2 from the other dlc) that feel completely different and extremely fun to play as. The achievements were a little disappointing. They consist of do the mission do the side mission complete the game on the highest difficulty

For a game released in 2011, it aged well

This game feels like NES games used to feel in my brain when I was like 6 years old.

The story bits are terrible and intentionally cheesy. I think they're trying to emulate 80's action movies but it falls pretty flat. The gameplay is fantastic though, so if you can get past the bad art and UI in the menus you'll find a super fun game that plays like old NES games like Jackal, Ikari Warriors and even has some Desert Strike and UN Squadron kinda feels to it.

It's definitely worth picking up the collection for under $4.

A simple twin-stick shooter that reminded me of Jackal on the NES. The gameplay is a little shallow; blow shit up, pick up weapon upgrades and health, and follow the arrow to your next objective. Sometimes you'll need to enter a building, which just involves mashing a button while you're shown still comic frames of your character inside kicking everyone's ass. Those sections pop up in multiple levels and felt a little repetitious. Despite that, the game is actually mindless fun, and you'll have a blast causing mayhem in your little micro machines Jeep and trying out all the different character abilities. The Renegades, and Inferno, their ruthless terrorist villain, seem to be heavily inspired by G.I. JOE. Each member of the team has a different vehicle and secondary ability, so try them all and see which one suits your play style. The Steam version lets you play as Gordon Freeman in his muscle car from Episode 2, commanding a squad of antlions. As a solo game, it's a good way to kill a few hours while listening to a podcast. I imagine a co-op playthrough with friends is the best way to experience Renegade Ops.

Also, I just wanted to point out that the menu music sounds exactly like something from a COD lobby.

This is one hell of an underrated game. It is the closest experience I had to a coop console game on PC. A few interesting classes with special abilities and upgrades going on a comic-style story to save the world from an evil mad man. The game creators intended to make a fun cliche story and they did it just right!

RENEGADE OPS is an extremely fun game, much like 80s high-octane action movies, but as satisfying as it is to unload your arsenal on countless enemies, the entertainment can't last forever. In terms of content, at the end of the game there are not many reasons to return, except for Achievements and Trophies that usually require collecting something, and nothing else; Furthermore, there is no competitive multiplayer beyond seeing who gets the highest score. Outside of these minor flaws, it is a highly addictive proposal that you should enjoy in the company of friends, both to increase the fun and keep the entertainment current.

Short.
The car is like a rubber.
Many useless upgrades either give you too little or you can put in a little.
They could put in a minI-map. The other interfere from driving.

Crashes constantly. No error report. Just suddenly stops. Many players have the same issue. Devs have known about this for... over 8 years, and haven't so much as commented on the bug thread. It's a fun twin stick shooter when it works, but I've had the first boss crash 5 times after the 15 minutes of play it gets to that point. There are no mid mission saves. If that sounds frustrating to you, give it a miss, even at $3.

I really like the feel and look of this game, the driving reminds me of some of the best games like 'Blast Corps' and 'R.C. Pro- Am'. So you see, 'Renegade Ops' is alone for that incredibly fun to play. The graphics, physics, controls, 80's story are allright and do it's job very well.
The game is really worth your time when you're into action, shooters and kind of racing.
Nice shot, 'Avalanche'!

Play this game! ASAP!

By the way, Sly used it as a blueprint for 'The Expandables'.

P.s.: I like 'Rare' and 'RAREWARE' and 'Ultimate Play the Game'. The old days, you know.
P.s.s.: A bit pricey for the whole package, wait for a sale, then it will be surely no mistake.

A decent twin stick arcade shooter. B Movie tier story and voice acting. I haven't been able to beat it since the controls just randomly like to shit themselves and not recognize my controller. Overall if it wasn't for the shitty controller issue and if people actually played online, might be worth it. But as is, trash bin it goes.

Got this game years ago and loved it, been recommending it to people as a great coop twin-stick shooter for years. It evokes the chaos and sense of progressive mission clearing that the old 'Strike' chopper series did, but the tone of this is very different, with likeable over-the-top cheesy comicbook style machismo. Unfortunately judging from other reviews, it seems that newer operating systems have not been kind to the stability of this game. It never crashed once for me back in the day but there are reports of it crashing to desktop occasionally under W10 64-bit, although the people reporting this also say it remains playable overall.

My one warning about the gameplay is that driving and speed is an integral part of this game, since it is necessary for maintaining your kill combo and staying within the time limits. This forms part of the late game replayability and score challenge aspect. But what it means is that the driving controls themselves are a part of the challenge; you have to keep your buggy moving, so it's best to clear areas while driving in circles and stay on the vulnerable side of enemies. The game has both camera relative and tank controls (I recommend tank), but at some point you're probably going to end up crashing into something you didn't want to, which can be frustrating if it's a non-destructible part of the environment. Some people just don't seem to like this aspect (and it's probably a nightmare on keyboard), but I found it extremely satisfying to stay constantly on the move during fights and then boost between areas, and I took the collisions on the chin as part of the challenge.

At current price (75% off) I'd say it's a fun ride for any twin-stick fan or anyone who remembers EA's old Strike games, if you're prepared for the challenges of driving a buggy and for occasional errors. Actually one of my most fondly remembered small games of the last decade. Get the Coldstrike campaign along with it, it's short but got some nice looking snowy levels which are fun to rack up combos on.

Summary

Renegade ops is a top down shooter. It has 2 campaigns, one being DLC. You can play both campaigns either solo or in co-op. Game runs pretty well and is very pretty. You get to choose between like 7(?) different characters, all with their unique ability. There's also an upgrade system that allows you to make a custom loadout. The loadout system is a bit simple, but does make the game a bit more interesting.

I got two cons with the game however. You can only get 1 achievement coop. You need to replay 90% of the campaign in singleplayer to get the achievements.
The other con is the fact the cars have a turning speed and physics tied to them. If you're gonna play on a keyboard this makes steering pretty difficult. You can however use a gamepad and it makes it a lot easier.

Conclusion

Overall it's a pretty fun top down shooter. Not the best but not a bad choice. If you already own it or can get it cheap I definitely recommend picking up a copy for you and a friend!

A++ for Avalanche Studio's work on the explosion n stuff, only problem is the control, need some time to get used to it

Cons = Just hate that when game give me a time limit to complete the objective...

Worth it especially if you grab it while it's on sale

It reminded me a little like the old lovely chopper strike games (desert, jungle and urban ones). But instead of strategic aproaches to hit enemies and run before they hit you, in Renegade Ops you just go more like YEEHAW into enemy bases lol.

Really cool game that I've being waiting for a sequel for years.
A sequel with a map to choose missions and way more stages to play.
Please developers, read this and make it real :)

It's better to play with joystick for smooth control on car and helicopter inside the game

Pro:
1. Nice graphic.
2. Short storyline with comic style ( Kinda DC comic).
3. Great sound effect of explosive.
4. Split screen ( You can play with your family or friend using coop play ).
5. 3 stage of difficulty ( Easy, Normal and Hard mode )
6. Smooth gameplay
7. Variety of choice of sidekick that you can use inside the game. ( I like the rocket sidekick)
8. Simple, short and chill game

Con:
1. No one in online multiplayer game.
2. I need more. XO

Overall great game for those who prefer single player game.

I bought on discount, I played. I liked. I think its worth it with out discount if it's what you want to play
