Im Sale, greift zu, letztes Halloween für 2-3€ bekommen. Interessante und außergewöhnlich tiefe Geschichte die sich langsam, schleichend den Weg zum Schweiß im Nacken sucht. Nach kurzer Zeit gewöhnt man sich an die Steuerung die ein wenig gewöhnungsbedürftig ist. An Manchen Stellen muss man Grübeln wie es weitergeht und man schütteln ein wenig den Kopf bei der dann doch offensichtlichen Lösung. Im großen und ganzen ein gutes Grusel-Point&Click.

Ganz lässiges Mystery-Adventure. Eine Gewöhnungsbedürftige Steuerung und die Anfangs eher etwas langweilige Atmosphäre setzen eine hohe Einstiegshürde. Aber hat man die erstmal genommen, ist man schnell in seinem Element und durchforstet aktiv jeden Winkel des Hauses nach Brauchbarem durch. Die Rätsel sind eigentlich leicht, aber nicht immer klar nachvollziehbar, sodaß der ein oder andere Blick in die Lösung notwendig wurde. Richtiger Horror ist es übrigens nicht, mit dem Addon zähle ich tatsächlich nur 4 sehr gruselige Elemente, ansonsten ist es eher ein ruhiges, geheimnisvolles Ambiente. Für Deutsche Fans gibt es auch einen Deutschpatch (36MB). Googelt einach mal danach.

Ein altes verlassenes Haus, abgeschnitten von der Außenwelt (bis auf ein nicht immer funktionierendes Telefon) und mittendrin ein Schriftsteller für Gruselgeschichten auf der Suche nach einer neuen story.
Klingt wie der Auftackt zu einem echt guten Horroradventure.

Zunächst betretet ihr das Haus in dem ihr die folgenden Tage zu verbringen wünscht. Verstaut eure Sachen und begebt euch auf Erkundungstour. Es gibt dort so einiges zu entdecken, immer mehr bringt ihr in Erfahrung über die ehemaligen Hausbewohner und taucht ein in deren düstere Geschichte.

In erster Linie versucht dieses Spiel euch mit seiner düsteren Atmosphäre gefangen zu nehmen. Allerdings ist der Gruselfaktor für ein echtes Horrorgame recht gering. Schaurige Musik und Dunkelheit kommen hier hauptsächlich zum Einsatz um euch das Fürchten zu lehren. Echte Schock-Sequenzen, die einen vom Hocker hauen, sucht man allerdings vergeblich.

Die Geschichte, die ihr Schritt für Schritt wie ein Puzzle zusammensetzt, ist doch recht ergreifend.

Und dann gibt es da noch die vielen Rätsel und verschlossene Türen, die euer Weiterkommen behindern.
Die meisten Rätsel haben es echt in-sich. Ihr müsst codes finden oder bestimmte items, was ein ums andere Mal recht schwierig ist. Auch findet ihr diverse items die ihr zunächst nirgendwo benutzen könnt. Zwar gebietet die Logik, dass der Gebrauch einiger items an manchen Stellen Sinn macht (wie z.B. die Brechstange bei einer verschlossenen Tür) allerdings kommt euch da der Charakter in die Quere, welcher sich einfach stur weigert die von euch gewünschte Aktion durchzuführen. Überhaupt ist das Verhalten des Schriftstellers sehr eigensinnig und oft fragt man sich, warum hier die einfachsten Dinge nicht von eurem Charakter bewerkstelligt werden können.

Wirkliche Hilfestellung bekommt man hier nicht. Das Telefon bietet nur sehr begrenzt Informationen, die Zeit scheint zu kriechen und an manchen Stellen kommt einfach nur Frust auf wenns nicht weiter geht.
Obwohl ich ein großer Rätsel-Fan bin kam ich an einem Punkt nicht drumm herum, mir im Internet eine Komplettlösung anzuschauen (muss dazu sagen, ich hatte die Hints im Game deaktiviert).

Zuletzt gibt es da noch den 2ten Teil: sehr kurz gehalten, wohl um ein paar offene Fragen zu klären, die im ersten Teil nicht ganz beantwortet wurden. Sollte man also trotzdem reinschauen.

Alles in allem hat es zwar Spaß gemacht dieses Game zu spielen, jedoch kommt schnell Frust auf, wenn man irgendwo hängen bleibt und einfach nicht vorwärts kommt.

Bei diesem Spiel habe ich etwas länger überlegt ob es zu empfehlen ist oder eher nicht. Bin dann aber zu folgendem Schluss gekommen:

Dieses Spiel hat mich einige Stunden gut unterhalten und ist empfehlenswert für alle, die Interesse an einem kleinen Click-Adventure mit gruseligem Hintergrund haben und die sich auch bei nervigen Rätseln trotzdem durchbeißen.
Allerdings empfehle ich weiterhin dieses Spiel nur im Angebot, für zwei Euro oder weniger zu kaufen, da es meiner Meinung nach einem Preis von 10,-€ nicht gerecht wird.

Wenn ich als Schriftsteller in ein Haus komme und mich schon an der Türschwelle ein schauriges Gefühl überkommt, würde ich direkt wieder kehrt machen wollen. Unser Protagonist sieht dies aber anders. Die Atmosphäre des Hauses ist sehr finster, da kann man wirklich nur Böses ahnen. Der perfekt Ort, für ein sehr gutes Buch.

Was die Rästel und auch den Gruselfaktor angeht, bin ich jedoch ziemlich enttäuscht von diesem Game.

Einen minimalen Hauch Grusel hat man, wenn Michael nachts einen Traum hat, und wenn er kurz darauf aufwacht und den Geräuschen auf den Grund geht.

Und dann soll es am vorraussichtlichen 5. Ende gruselig sein.
Insgesamt kommen nur drei gruselige Stellen in dem gesamten Game vor.
Ziemlich schwach.

Wenn Tagüber wenigsten einige Stellen eingebaut wären, welche dem Gamer Gänsehaut bescheren würden, könnte es sichtlich mehr Spaß machen. Immerhin gibt das Game genug Szenen, wo man sowas einbauen kann.

Was die Rätsel angeht, ist Scratches ziemlich unübersichtlich. Man bekommt keine Hinweise auf die nächsten Rätsel und verliert so allmählich den Überblick.
Auch die Schlussfolgerungen sind ziemlich ungenau. Niemals würde man auf gewisse Lösungen von Rätseln kommen, beziehungsweise die Zusammensetzung einzelner Gegenstände.

Ich habe mir die meiste Zeit eine Komplettlösung anschauen müssen, da ich sonst nicht weiter gekommen wäre. Ziemlich schade.

Positiv:
-schaurige Atmosphäre
-schaurige Schauplätze
-unheimliche Hintergrundstory
-fesselnde Gamestory

Contra:
-zu wenige Gruselfaktoren
-ziemlich unlogische Rästel
-zu wenig, bis keine Hinweise auf folgende Rätsel
-Contra zu Spieleinstellung: -> Die Maussensibilität ist viel zu hoch eingestellt und lässt sich auch nicht ändern.

Fazit:
Scratches könnte ein sehr gutes Horror Adventure sein, wären die Rätsel und Aufgaben nicht so unübersichtlich und würde man dem Spieler ein wenig Hilfe an die Hand geben. Desweiteren fehlen einfach die Grusel- und Schockmomente. In solchen Spielen allgemein und in diesem besonders, bietet es sich zuhauf an solche Einlagen unterzubringen, das geschieht hier jedoch nur in den seltensten F´ällen, so dass einfach keine Stimmung aufkommen will. So kann ich Scratches leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

eigentlich könnte es ein interesantes games sein aber da es so verbugt ist das es andauernt abstürzt ohne ersichtlichen grund oder einer fehlermeldung und im grunde total langweilig ist nicht zu empfelen.

Ein 3D Render Adventure, indem wir uns in einem leeren Haus bewegen und die Geheimnisse erkunden die dieses verbirgt.
Oder ist es doch nicht so leer?
Eigentlich sind wir nur Schriftsteller und wollen unsere Ruhe haben um uns zu sammeln und unser Buch weiterzuschreiben.

Doch in den Nächten... Was geht hier vor?

Für Fans solcher Spiele einen Blick wert! Alle anderen, FINGER WEG! Es ist schwer, altmodisch und 4:3!

The graphics look good even now.

The plot is interesting, but there are enough unrevealed details:

Is James alive or dead? Jerry says he's dead. But the bank account is open.
Who was feeding Robin raw meat in the basement?
Who killed James' wife? Him or his son? Was it intentional or accidental?

Additional pluses: only one jump scare in the entire game and all the dialogue is voiced.

Thanks to Civvie for pointing this game out, truth be told it was laying dormant in my Steam library forever and I wouldn't have finally installed it if it weren't for him. I'm not the biggest fan of these type of games but the atmosphere is top notch and keeps you playing. It's a shame it's no longer available on here.

I am a huge fan of horror games, movies and stories. It is my favourite genre. For shame, because of it, it gets harder and harder to get that sweet thrilling sensation. But Scratches is one of the games which managed to shake me. Story rich, mysterious and unsettling - everything I could wish for. Controls might be a little annoying at first and the gameplay is generally quite simple. But Scratches is about the atmosphere. I fell in love with it and I would certainly recommend it.

I love horror point and click adventures like Black Mirror and Art of Murder. I also love this game. The atmosphere is great. A horror house, creepy music, the settings of the 70s and a mysterious story behind the house owner who went crazy – considering the release date, there are not a lot of games like this one from early 2000. I played through the story at least 3 times. My first playthrough was already 13 years ago and I was stuck so often. Even today I need the guide now and then. I admit, some connections are hard to find and the order of some actions and events could make more sense, but it still has everything a good horror adventure needs. My feedback might be different if I played it today for the first time and compare it with other games, but since it brings a lot of good memories from my childhood, I will always recommend it and I know for sure I will play it again in the future.

Background...I first played this game when it was released. I was in middle school and purchased it with my chore money from the pc gaming section in Walmart. When I was younger the music in the basement scared me so much I would have to play with the volume turned off or ask my mother to come in and keep me company. Many years have passed and I have recently been playing games like Until Dawn and Man of Medan and thought of this game again.

What I loved...The story line is fantastic. This story is unlike any other seen in PC or Console gaming. If this was a book I would devour it. The music is absolutely amazing. While I did not call my mother to keep me company during this play through entering the basement was as creepy as I recalled. The graphics are also quite good for a game of this age.

What I wish was different...I'm an experienced point and click gamer. This game utilizes very common point and click controls. However, I found them to be glitchy. At times I would need to be facing the opposite direction of a door to open it. When attempting to advance in one direction it was not uncommon for the game to move my character in a different direction. This was very frustrating and even caused the game to crash on one occasion. The game is very linear. If you discover something early in the game you may not be able to interact with it. This can be very confusing because if this is your first play through you might assume whatever object is simply not relevant to the story. The gameplay is not always intuitive. An example of this is the crypt tasks. Without walkthroughs that had been posted online I would have never been able to advance the game.

While the chance of missing an item (tucked away in a drawer situated in the corner of a room you happened to not glance at) is so large that I'd recommend playing this with a walkthrough, I still must recommend this game for the atmosphere and exquisite exploration.

Do it like this; load up a walkthrough. Play the game normally, explore vigorously or you'll deprive yourself of an outstanding experience. When you get absolutely stuck for 10 minutes, glance at just the next paragraph to nudge you in the right direction. Continue exploring. Loop. It's still a tremendous experience.

Don't be turned off by the 90s Myst/7th Guest way this game plays. I've play lots and lots of horror games over the years and this one is on the short list. I can't say exactly why, but this is a game I think about often. I really enjoyed it. Don't let the technical limitations turn you off.

This is a carefully crafted story with layers of mystery, and as you, a mystery writer, discover more about the house and its past residents, you can't walk away from the fear and revulsion without knowing why there were murders, and indeed who died. And of course, there are the Scratches.

It’s a rather simple point-and-click horror game with puzzles. But what really got to me was the atmosphere. There were moments where I jumped or felt that sense of dread as the game progressed. The only down side to this was the added epilogue portion of the game. It’s not very long but I felt that it ruined the atmosphere and was rather cheesy. So personally i would just stick with playing the main game and ignoring the epilogue. You won’t miss out on anything if you do.

Extremely atmospheric, which was a surprise because it's an point-and-click game. Amazing soundtrack and well made environment. Being able to look 360 degrees around you is nice. Puzzles might be frustrating at times but overall it's a nice experience.
