Ich habe mir dieses Spiel zugelegt, weil ich es ansprechend fand, dass die Story im alten Japan spielt und weil es von Square Enix ist. Ich habe das Spiel durchgespielt und habe dafür ca. 4 Stunden gebraucht. Die Hintergründe, in denen man die versteckten Objekte sucht, sind wirklich schön gestaltet. Der Soundtrack, der zu jedem Hintergrundbild läuft, ist entspannend beim Suchen, wiederholt sich allerdings. Die Story fand ich insgesamt gut, aber dennoch etwas zu flach, hätte mir gewünscht, das die Charaktere und die Handlung etwas besser ausgearbeitet wären. Auch hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass sie mehr Hintergründe eingebaut hätten, da diese sich oft wiederholt haben und man dann des öfteren die selben Gegenstände hat suchen müssen, die sich leider immer an den selben Orten befanden. Die Rästelspiele zwischendurch haben mir gut gefallen. Ich habe das Spiel im Sale gekauft, was auch meine Empfehlung wäre. Von mir gibt es jedenfalls eine Kaufempfehlung, da ich das Spiel insgesamt recht stimmig fand!

Season of Mystery ist ein schönes Wimmelbildspiel mit einer netten Geschichte. An einigen Stellen im Spiel müssen auch Rätsel gelöst werden, die allerdings nicht besonders schwierig sind. Um die Geschichte durchzuspielen habe ich 2-3h gebraucht.

Wer Wimmelbildspiele mag, ist hier richtig. Wer damit nichts anfangen kann, sollte die Finger von dem Spiel lassen.

Dieses Spiel darf sich zurecht als Wimmelbildspiel / Hidden Object Game bezeichnen, denn das ganze Spiel besteht daraus. Bis auf kurze Sprechsequenzen und wenige Minispiele, ist man fast permanent dabei irgendwelche, teilweise wirklich sinnbefreiten Dinge zu suchen und zu finden. Die wenigsten Dinge die man dann findet, werden auch tatsächlich für das Weiterkommen der Protagonistin verwendet.
Diese hat im übrigen gerade ihren Mann verloren, der sich angeblich selbst umbrachte. Doch aufgrund einiger Indizien kann die protagonistin dies nicht glauben und stellt Nachforschungen über den Tod ihres Gatten an. Dabei lüftet man in rund 2-3 Stunden das Geheimnis darum, warum ihr Mann sterben musste und wer ihn ermordet hat.
Die Charaktere haben kaum Tiefe oder bleiben einem im Gedächnis, die Story ist in Ordnung, aber nichts überwältigendes. Die Grafik und das Design der Wimmelbilder und die Musik hingegen finde ich sehr gut. Sie passt immer gut zum aktuellen Szenenbild.
An einigen Wimmelbildern hab ich mir auch echt die Zähne abgebrochen, weil manche Objekt einem größenverhältnis endsprachen, das so irreal war, dass man eine Wäscheklammer in größe einer Türe zB gar nicht sucht und sie demendsprechend auch übersieht, da sie gut in den Texturen versteckt ist.
Das Abschließen aller Steam-Erfolge erfordert, dass das Spiel ein zweites mal gespielt wird. In maximal 5 1/2 Stunden dürfte man 2x mit dem Spiel und allen 15 Erfolgen fertig sein.
Seasons of Mystery: the Cherry Blossom Murders ist alles in allem eine nette Abwechslung zu beispielsweisen Wimmelspielen von Artifex Mundi, auch für den Vollpreis lohnt es sich.

Ein wunderbar stimmiges Kriminalspiel wird einem hier versprochen.
Es ist mehr langweilige Polizeiarbeit die geliefert wird, noch dazu sehr schlecht verpackt.

Aber fangen wir am Anfang an.
Ein Mord ist passiert und wir als liebende Ehefrau können uns nicht mit dem vorschnellen Urteil der Polizei abfinden, das es sich um Selbstmord handelt. Also beginnen wir mit unseren eigenen Untersuchungen. Das alles spielt in Japan.
Gute Vorraussetzungen für eine interessante, kniffelige Geschichte.
Die Umsetzung sieht dann aber so aus: Wir erscheinen an einen Ort, müssen dort meistens erstmal ein Wimmelbild lösen.
Dann bekommen wir einige Standbilder mit Texttafeln vorgesetzt (oh, das sind Gespäche mit interessanten Personen) um dann auf der Karte den nächsten Ort anklicken zu können an dem sich das gleiche wiederholt.

Zur Abwechslung *dürfen* wir die gleichen Orte mehrmals aufsuchen. Jedesmal natürlich mit dem gleichen Wimmelbild wie beim 1. Mal halt mit teils anderen gesuchten Teilen (TEILS).
Selbst wenn wir nur mal mit einer Person sprechen wollen, kommt erst ein Wimmelbild......so kann man natürlich auch die Spielzeit erhöhen.

Es reiht sich also ein Wimmelbild ans andere. Um uns ja nicht zu überfordern setzt unsere Avatarin das Rätsel um den Mord selber zusammen.
Nun, könnten ja wenigstens die Wimmelbilder interessant sein. Denkste. Anscheinend war man wohl von japanischer Tuschezeichnung faziniert. Entsprechend sind die Bilder in luftigen Farben die noch dazu durch Lichteinfall hübsch verwaschen werden gehalten (ab und an auch mal kräftiger, dann halt durch Schattenwirkung noch verstärkt).
Wer da die gesuchten Gegenstände ohne Hilfe findet war wohl früher Fährtensucher und hat einen Blick wie Falkenauge.

Die Minispiele sind sehr selten und keinen Deut besser.

Dazu plätschert hübsche Musik (wenn es denn wenigstens passend dazu japanische wäre) wie in einem Fahrstuhl auf einem ein.

Selten habe ich ein solch langweiliges Spiel erlebt.

Sehr schön gestaltetes Spiel.Wer Japan mag sollte sich dieses Wimmelbildspiel nicht entgehen lassen.Die Story ist recht spannend,nur die Charaktere wirken recht langweilig.Trotzdem hat es Spaß gemacht!

Japan during the 18th century. One night Irene finds her husband Richard dead. Local police chief evaluates it as a suicide, thanks to the note close to his body. There her husband, an employee of an US Embassy, admits his participation in smuggling precious and valued pieces of Japanese history and that the shame is too much for him to bear any longer. But Irene is convinced that her beloved husband would never do such a thing, so she decides to uncover the culprit of such hideous crime. In her search for truth she visits many different locations - Embassy, police station, docks, Geisha house etc. As she follows little crumbs left by her husband she can rely on help from Kenzo, Richard's friend, and young detective Fujikawa. With them she will try to clear her husband's name and punish the murderer.

Nice relaxing hidden object game with few short puzzles. There are a lot of hidden object scenes, usually one for each location you visit and they get recycled. There is a huge amount of items in the screens and some of them are really well hidden. You have two forms of hints - first will show you the shape of the item, second will show you the exact location. Only used the shapes, but finding some of the items was pretty hard. Graphic is older with soft colors, hidden object scenes seemed a little bit blurry though. There is no voice acting, but the characters are changing their stands and expressions so it's nicely lively. Music is relaxing. To get all the achievements you have to play it twice, but it was enjoyable even for the second run. It's perfect for slow casual playing.

Such a beautiful game! <3
The story, plot and detailing are really well thought out, buuuut the game can be very repetitive.
Music and sometimes scenery stays the same... even tho it makes up for how gorgeous it looks and sounds!
The game focuses more about story progression rather than new ideas for the scenes.
The hidden objects often doesn't move from the last scene you just played, but who doesn't
love some helping out? X3 The story is very clever, and finding clues in different crime scenes is almost addicting!
If you want a calm puzzle game you can play with family, friends or alone- this is worth the money <3

Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders is the first hidden objects game made by Square Enix, a very famous developer who brought us many amazing RPG titles. The story sat in the 18th century, a woman named Irene lives with her husband in Japan as he works in the U.S. embassy, one day she discovered his dead body in his office. To her horror, the case was closed as a suicide, but knowing her husband wouldn't commit such an act, Irene determined to reveal the killer.

This game is 'hidden objects' heavy, each scene is recycled, you'll visit them multiple times, and sadly all the items which you picked up before will still be there. The puzzles are nice and quite unique, especially the riddle ones.

I liked the soundtracks a lot, also, on the title page you'll find information about the characters you've met, unfortunately, there is no journal or objectives list as the game will just take you through the story and scenes, you can choose where to go in the man, however, you'll have to visit all the places eventually.

It's not the best game from Square Enix, I prefer them in the RPG department. If you like games with OK story and multiple random HO scenes to casually play, pick up this one on a discount.

Detailed review of the game means basically unfolding most of the plot ruining the experience. The crux of the gameplay is to find the deeply hidden objects in a scenery, and solving mini puzzles in between like matching the pairs, form a sudoku, finding the key combination. You will have to find the hidden objects in the same scenery multiple times, intermingling the objects and randomly spewing them everytime you launch the game.

I can't say for sure, if the hidden-object is my kind, but what sticks me throughout the game is the suspense revolving around the suspicious suicide of Irene's husband in Japan. The gameplay had made more sense if it would be more like selecting the correct dialogue, but there isn't much in it rather than eyeballing carefully on a static messed up image looking for those antique objects the game asking for. Well, but that's not too much to blame. You should still buy it for the plot. It is followed by happy ending that made my heart-wrenched handkerchiefing my puffy nose....That's it. Find out yourself and you will be thankful for me to suggest this.

Awesome passive hidden object game, with a gripping story, relaxing soundtrack and stunning visuals. The mini puzzles break up the monotony of having to just find hidden objects in the list, and some levels are quite tricky in places. A great game for those who enjoy games like the Broken Sword series.

Overall, this isn't a terrible game. It had nice music and graphics. I personally found it lacking in a creative story. In terms of the puzzle elements, you replay the same levels which makes it pretty easy to find things. Additionally, I am not a fan of hiding the objects in places that don't make sense IE the pencil in the door. This game may be great for some, but not something I would personally play again.

Great game, generally. Played the game with my Mom (80 years old) while visiting for a week at Christmas time. Hooked a HDMI cable from the laptop to the big TV so she could see well. She looked forward to playing it every night. We finished the game at 2:30 am the last night I was there. Wouldn't take anything for the great time we spent together.
I play it sometimes just to relax.

Overall a good standard hidden object point and click, nothing groundbreaking here. I liked the fact it was set in Japan, the story was reminiscent of Agatha Cristie stuff.

Worth getting on sale/bundle if you are a point and click fan, good for a break from intense games.

I bought this for my Mother who loves hidden object games and she absolutely loved it. Nothing is timed she was able to enjoy the images and the music. Man, the music is amazing.
It is one of the better hidden object games I've seen while looking for them. Highliy recommend it.
