Ein direkter Nachfolger des 2D Multiplayer Shooter Soldat, welcher Anfang der 2000er im Sturm Bekanntheit durch das Internet erlangte und zum Erfolg jeder LAN Party wurde.

Soldat 2 behält dabei die grundlegende Soldat Spielsteuerung und sorgt für erweiterten frischen Kontent. Individuelles Anpassen und Modden wird dabei grundlegendes Merkmal sein. In beispielsweise, sich konstant erweiternden Leveln, einstellbaren Spielmodi und dazugehörigen Regeln, Waffendesign, strukturierten Kampfsystemen oder einem simulierten Sandbox Editor. Soldat 2 ist eine beliebte Platform für Benutzer erstellten Kontent, Mods und andere Soldat-ähnliche Spiele.

i was hyped because i played soldat 1 for years in clans / gathers.
in soldat 2 you find no players and overall it feels like it lost the vibe.
for me its a real fail and not worth the money.

As a former admin of the legendary Soldat community site I have to give this game a thumbs up.
It seems a little unpolished right now, but it's still early access and I'm sure Michal Marcinkowski will make a good sequel out of it. The game brought a lot of good old memories back :)

They actually remade the core game while still in early access.
The rework makes it play like classic soldat with some new twists. Amazing update.

Now it just need some marketing and more people playing.

Awesome game, but it's literally dead. The most players I've ever seen online at one time is 4.
Even if you're in the discord, people only want to play weird 2v2's and shit, it's impossible to have a classic game of capture the flag.

Maybe if the price was 1/4 the amount, or free like it was in the old days, people would actually play.

A nice update to the classic Soldat. Although at it's current stage it is enjoyable, it is lacking in new weapons, maps and most importantly players. I'm sure this game will grow in popularity once the final release is out.

Fantastic fun. Great game for pick up and play short play sessions (bit like rocket league). Only wish there were more players but hopefully will get a larger base once it gets out of early access

TBH I quite like it, but really there aren't enough players. Servers are empty almost 24/7... I reckon I will just see my purchase as donation.

Great game, great mechanics and updates. Indie dev is fantastic. However, there's no one playing online. Controls feel a bit lose and slippery, kind of like GTA5 driving mechanics.. Would love to see them a bit more tighter, but it's still very enjoyable and unique.

My thoughts: Make it free and add cosmetic micro-transactions or something. Look into killstreak.tv, they have a very good and simple (easy to replicate) progression that monetizable while not turning off the player base that would go very nicely with soldat 2.

In general nice game, it holds dynamics and climate of original soldat. I liked it.
One cons is that when bouht there was no players online - sad :(
I'll try to come back once released as full verison.

10/10 - Buy it now.
Soldat is a great shooter based off of an old 2002 shooter (Also on Steam!). I haven't felt my heart beat this fast playing a game since I played competitive CSGO. No platformer in the world compares to the fluidity in the movement of Soldat.
Aiming is basically point and click in the direction you want to shoot, jumping entails ramping off of surfaces and timing your jumps to bunnyhop at precise moments, but the magic in this game is the physics of the bullets and the jetboots every character is equipped with.
Every grenade, shot and player collision bounces off of objects. The closest thing I can relate it to is jumping on the moon. You skate your way across surfaces by tapping jump and use the momentum you build up to fling yourself up with a backflip, holding jetboots on the whole time, and you can catapult yourself upwards to scale large walls and objects.
A Soldat II game is super soldiers fighting it out with explosions, flak cannons, sniper rifles and kamikaze chainsaw bandits rushing you while you have to massacre your way through them all and steal their flag.

There are too few players online at any given time and those who do play are just too good, I don't stand any chance against them and I am not new to 2D shooters. The game has some potential, but it needs a bigger player base and some ranking system.

This is a good game in and of itself, but I do believe it will be quite some time before it approaches topping what Soldat 1 was.

Where this game really shines right now is simplicity for jumping into a match on a Windows 10 machine with no hassle.

Buy this and play both Soldat 1 (free) and 2 (support the devs) for a great experience all around.

I loved the original, this is pretty much more of the same but with a bit more polish. I love the twitchy nature of this game and the level of skill that it takes to truly become great at it. The respawn times are fast so even if you die, if you die at the right place and right time, you can respawn and immediately retaliate against your attacker. The way physics work, mastering them becomes a feat that grants you extremely control of a map. From things like health pickups and the like. The original game was a masterpiece of gameplay. This refines that and brings to it less ugly and larger maps and a few cute little gimmicks that add interesting additional elements to the game. I recommend it for sure.

TL;DR

The gameplay is top notch even with still being early access and the community is amazing, welcoming and friendly. What more can you ask for? Worth every penny.

More Information

I loved this game when I first started playing and just jumping into random lobbies, then I stumbled on some really nice people that introduced me to the community discord and I can honestly say I don't think it would be possible to find a more welcoming and friendly community than Soldat has nowadays. Especially since most players are veterans from the first game they are all so keen to offer advice and support for the new players. Since I joined the discord and started playing with the veterans I enjoy playing this game even more than I did when I first started without knowing the discord existed. I highly recommend giving Soldat 2 a go, but above all else please join the discord and get talking to the players there. I'm just angry with myself that I didn't discover Soldat earlier in my life. I am looking forward to developing my skills and eventually being able to compete against the S1 veterans, but until then it is amazing seeing how good those players are and that gives me so much motivation to keep practising to improve.

Conclusion

10/10 Gameplay
10/10 Community
10/10 Fun and enjoyment (hours feel like seconds)
10/10 Worth the price.

It's like Soldat 1, but a little prettier and modern. Rough around the edges as is to be expected from an early access game. Worth the plunge so far if you loved the original. Spent many a night of my youth playing the first, and this hits a nostalgia spot, and is genuinely fun to pick up and mess with. Snag it, or add it to your wishlist and keep an eye on it, this is good now and I suspect it will be great in the end.

I bought this game just for the support of developers, to be honest, but I do find this sequel full of potential. Too bad the player base is dead nowadays... I remember the good old 2006-2008, when servers were full of random people to play with 24/7 in the original Soldat. Too bad those days will never come back... or will they? (dramatic dun! dun! DUUUN!)

I still think soldat 1 never achieved its potential, with this new version I really hope it will get more attention from public with steam. Even tho its still in under development phase my expectations are quite high for soldat 2. It takes some time to get used to soldat 2 if you are coming from original soldat, and I still miss some old unrealistic gameplay. However, its not a deal-breaker for me, it is bit problemetic to play on multiplayer as today (october 2020). it feels laggy and still not sure if i hit the enemy or not.

I hope early access wont be deal breaker for new comers, due to multiplayer issues. It is still under development and there are still a lot ways to improve Soldat 2 experience. I'm hoping to see more people will play this game in the future and there will be a lot clans and tournements going to to be happen!

It's been so long since I played the first game, and I played that a lot. This game is in early access and obviously it shows, but I have to say that after only a short few hours with it it already feels pretty good even if not as I remember the first game. Network code could use some improvements, as well as general performance. The UI needs a whole lot of polish as well. But for as early as it is it is really neat.

I was playing the native Linux build without any real issues other than what's mentioned above.
Can see myself pouring a ton of hours into this as development progresses.

This is that one game that you played when you were a kid and you loved but moved on to bigger and better games, yet never forgot about this.

Soldat 2 does a good job at keeping the feel of the original Soldat. I only really played 1.3.1 but I feel right at home when I join a server. Overall it is very bare bones atm, but it is definitely still playable and enjoyable. There are a few things that need tweaking but I'm optimistic about future updates. I hope the community stays active because this is some video game crack for me.

Ive played Soldat 1 since around 2003, I loved it. Would stop playing and come back to it years later with all the nostalgia and mayhem rushing back... Not so much with this game.

It feels like Soldat flavored La Croix, with a prettier look.

The sounds just feel lacking and no real umph. When you would get a kill with the Barret in Soldat 1 it felt satisfying and impactful, not so much in this. The Dragonuv is supposed to be the replacement for the Ruger 77, not quite there. No Dual Deagles, major disappointment there. I see where this is going, but its missing that punch that made the original such a classic.

At this moment I wouldnt recommend this to anyone looking for an improvment on Soldat 1, go back to the original for a while and wait till the kinks are ironed out. I know this game has potential, but right now in its current state, its just not there.

Just as fun as Soldat 1 was. The nostalgia is REAL, and I hope this takes off on Steam. Meant to play for 10 minutes or so and got sucked in for over an hour. There are a few glitches and things that need to be ironed out in the map design, but I'm sure that'll get worked on. SO MUCH FUN.

I assume that I have had like a 500h+ in Soldat 1 so I was sceptical if the new could match the old legend...
But it is even better! Same fast paced skill based combat, but with all new mechanics and graphics!

120% recommended, I feel like 14 yo on all night long LAN party again...
