SpellForce: The Order of DawnIn a world beyond imagination...

In their immeasurable greed and constant thirst for power, the thirteen most powerful Mages of all time doomed the land, hurling it into an endless spiral of chaos and despair. Entire countries were wiped out in the blink of an eye when the devastating power of the Elements was unleashed - Elements summoned by dark rituals. Continents shattered like glass, the pieces strewn about like leaves in the wind. Huge armies, bound by the the power of ancient runes, brought war and destruction to the lands that survived the initial onslaught. All that was left were a few islands, connected by magic portals.

Now, only a few years after the end of the Convocation, evil is back - stronger and more powerful than ever before - to finish what was started. Yet there is still hope. The prophecies tell of a human. A human damned to immortality, bound forever by the power of the blood runes?

Soon, the time will come when the power of one may change the destiny of many. For better or for worse...

SpellForce: Shadow of the Phoenix

By means of an enslaved god's life essence a dark necromancer is trying to reanimate the powerful circle mages and make them his unholy servants. Only the power of the Phoenix Stone will be able to prevent the returning of the Circle.

Thus the rune is summoned again to finally put an end to his former slave-masters.

But to free the special power of the Phoenix Stone, the blade of the Shadow Sword is required which is held by the rune warrior of Urgath. The two avatars need to combine their powers and work together to overcome this final enemy.

SpellForce: Breath of Winter

A Prince of Darkness, a Fial Darg, was set free through the Convocation and took over the reign over the Fire Empire. His whish is to bring the Renegades, the Gods of darkness, back to Eo.

For the Ritual, to make that happen, he needs the blood of a first-born Elve. But there is only one more left, Cenwen, the Elve Queen, who lives under the ice where she sings for the mighty dragon Aryn?

Einfach einmalig!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2276716736

Pro:

So at the time of writing this review I have yet to properly finish the game. So based the 50+ hours that I have played it is fantastic. This game is essentially like Warcraft 3 where it is an RTS that has hero characters that fight along side the armies that you build. However this game takes it a step further and actually lets you build your hero/main character in pretty much any way you want. Meaning that rather than being stuck to the narratively chosen character like a paladin or wizard you are free to be any kind of character that you want. In addition the way that the RTS part of the game progresses keeps everything feeling very fresh and new even after hours of playtime. It is also worth mentioning that this game is actually quite challenging due to the scenarios presented in the story. The only issues in my opinion are that it is by this point a very old game and has a lot of old game issues like meh path finding and poor voice acting. In addition as evident by its loading screen it is from the bikini-armor era of fantasy. Which might be a turn off to some players. there is also the problem that its units for each race are a little generic overall compared to Warcraft 3. Despite these issues I think that anyone who played Warcraft 3 and wants more of what that game did, should try this game.

This game is great for learning battle tactics and army management. A great variety of troupes and races, including orcs, elves, dark elves, humans, ogres and more. You create and build towns and settlements, with challenging resource management, which when you understand resource replenishment rates you can have everlasting resources. You have to think, which is something that I really enjoy. Your avater development is also fun, you can choose many styles of combat, such as light blade, heavy clubs, knives, bows, crossbows, and the all important magic spells. The magicks are devided into different types, black magick - death, curse and necromancy (the most directly useful combat magicks) White magick - healing, speed and strength, plus anti undead. Elemental Magicks, earth (stone trowing and rock skin etc, Fire (fire balls, and fire servants) Ice (freezes all enemies direct or with snowstorms - This magic is the best one to start with). MInd magicks (very hard skill, that mainly messes around with enemy moral, invisibility etc. Mind magick is for the more advanced player, but a good melee skill is a must, as this magick type seldom damages enemies. Heavy combat arts give you great hitting number and great stamina, but chances of hitting is very low, so only build up this skill with light arts which are designed to improve hit rate over damage total.
The first game 'order of dawn' is the best one from this collection, it is well thought out in story and skill development.
The second game 'breath of winter' is a diabolical onslaught on your character as soon as you enter the first map. Your will always be weaker and on the back foot all the way throughout this game. Constantly running from bigger unbeatable foe, which is quite demoralising on the player. The story is OK, but over all, I dont rate it very highly. Not as enjoyable as 'order of dawn'.
The third game 'phoenix' is a mixture of the first 2 games, but more standing with the original. There are 2 story lines that intertwine as you take your avatar from either 'order of dawn' or 'breath of winter'. The character stories and interactions are amazing fun, and Empiria is one of the best city maps ever, with humours thieves trying to rip you off, offensive guards and drunken warriors. You can become an assassin, priest or bank thief. This game expands on your avatars already acquired skills, in game 1 and 2, your levels max out at 12, but in the 'phoenix' game it maxes out at 20+ with new extra spells. This collection is great for the price and hours of addictive fun. I have nearly done all the skills and am now creating a character using light armour, knives and Mind magic. wish me luck :)

Spellforce is a game from my childhood, so it has a bit of a special place in my heart. I purchased it for the nostalgia and have since beaten one of the three campaigns and am half way through the second.

Keeping in mind this is an 18 year old game, it's pretty much ancient. It's got that unique charm that cannot be replicated. You can't expect it to have a gigantic amount of content or super-impressive graphics, or whatever else you might be seeking in modern games.

It's playable. My playtime has been pretty smooth, with only a couple minor hiccups. None of them were gamebreaking by any means, and took place at the very start of the game. So- you have these mission-islands, where you go through portals from one island to the next. I went from the second mission back to the first after finding an item I thought would be work for a quest.
At this point, the game greeted me with the first cutscene again, but with the characters missing. The dialogue and scenery were still there. All the enemies on the map respawned- but that was hardly a problem, since it was level 1-2 goblins and cave orcs.
It left a quest in my questbook that I couldn't complete, since...well...I already completed this quest. It didn't matter, though. It was easy to ignore and didn't stop me from progressing the game or doing anything I wanted to do.

I've experienced only two crashes during the start of the second campaign, but other than that, I've had no problems with the game crashing or lagging too much.

The voice acting can be silly. But as I've mentioned before, it's an ancient game. I feel like that much is forgivable.

There's hours worth of play time here. And I mean HOURS. If you don't rush through the levels and instead take some time to do side missions, clear maps and explore all the little corners, you could stretch out that play time even further. There's 3 campaigns, filled with side quests and whatnot. Then there's a freeplay mode that has its own charm, too.

For the price, it's unlikely you'll regret this purchase. You just gotta go into it with an open mind and reasonable expectations.

Now, Spellforce was legendary back in the day and I firmly thought of starting the entire series from the beginning since I never got to play it at the time in my childhood.

The problem with this game isn't the graphics. They're allright from the game this old, though it took some getting used to.

No, the real reason for the game is really questionable design in troop commanding and bugs.
When one looks at the game time played, easily sees that it took me long to finally quit. In fact, I got through Order of Dawn and Breath of Winter with some problems, but nothing insurmountable. It was Shadow of the Phoenix where I finally lost patience.

Troop commanding is not so great. I can't double click to single out certain type of units and the game tends to put the squishy ranged soldiers, like mages, to the front at times. I need to carefully single out the different units to move them a little back. Formation doesn't create proper formations at all and every time the troops move, the entire carefully laden melee front, ranged back will mess up again.

Troops AI is not great. They frequently ignore towers and start running at enemies that hit them, even though I specifically command them not to. They also ignore some enemies when I don't have accurate idea of their aggro rating and often a quarter of the army stays behind when I don't notice they retreated to the positions they aggroed from.

I got through alright with these. They weren't game breaking.

Bugs were the last straw eventually. I cannot see hit points, nor mana of any of my units, nor enemies and I'm unfortunately not going to get technical to fix it, even though there are guides to fix this bug.

The final straw came in Shadow of the Phoenix. The Raven Pass won't allow me to continue since the warmachines that are supposed to start automatically shoot the death towers do not shoot, no matter how close I move them. They cannot be commanded to shoot them. If those towers don't go down, the campaign won't go further, plain and simple. Somewhere I read to return to old save before I even went to Raven's Pass. Unfortunately I don't have such saves. I would have to start campaign all over again.

Having said that: Spellforce Platinum is an allright game. It is not the best rts, nor the worst and lot can be forgiven because of its age. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it to anyone with good conscience, especially if I cannot even finish the last expansion to wrap all up nicely.

The game looks bad compare to other rts its age but still enjoyable especially if you like controlling fantasy races army separately or mixed depend on your choice.

However I still find it hard to put it as recommended because the balance difficulty is an issue in this game. If you decide to buy it then I recommend read the guide first or else you will find yourself stuck in some maps and have to redo the whole campaign.

I payed 60$ for cod black ops 4 would rather buy this game 10 times over that

Gameplay- as i sayd i played this game not knowing english at all its a perfect singleplayer game with around 50h of gameplay if not more on normal hard is a whole other story excluding shadow of the phoneix and the other one (so only spellforce the order of dawn) build your army your avatar and your love for the game starting from anywhere as an mele figher ending as a mele mage fighter who has a polar bear or a fucking goblin running in and attacking a full on 1v1 ft the boss a fucking legend id say he god smashed R.I.P my goblin will forever be missed.

So the graphics its old game but suprises me still to this day not bad but not good MInd the game is from 2003 and is more playable then quiet a few other thrras 60$ games

Cons-
im not kidding when i say i dont have any mby more gameplay or lets say harder on my part since i played it 10 times
also i hate the fucking meduse lookin asses just run from those.
3rd person is a bit off but we dont use those in this game

Pros-
a game at peak with its gamplay prob better then 60% games made today in 2021
id have my memory reset to replay it without knowing anything
a lot of troops to chose from also rune warrios or caracther are fun to get
wast majority of enemy troops.
side quest's are more then perfect they combine with story like angel with the sky .
its also barley 10$ more then worth it if you dont have a sale

Thats it folk sorry for my bad grammer also much love

It seems I got pretty nostalgic this christmas, but this old classic is simply too good to not play it here and there... :)

In addition:

To prevent confusion... I've read a few negative reviews claiming the game has some bad bugs.
I can only recommend to use V1.54, which is available in the beta branch of the game.
The Steam version is 1.61, but this one is based on V1.50, which has a lot of the old and very serious bugs that got fixed within 1.54.
You may have issues getting 1.54 running, but I noted some of these down including solutions:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2335398642

V1.54 also needs a bit tweaking as it only supports a max resolution of 1600x1200 (which is 4:3).
But there are unofficial patches available and even mods that enhance the game further, but which only work for V1.54.
You'll find a link to the patches and mods also in the linked guide of mine. ;)

[TL;DR at the bottom]

The RPG/RTS mix has always been a sort of weird combination as either of the two ends up suffering. Most people would probably gravitate only to titles like Warcraft 3, resulting in SpellForce being criminally overlooked for almost two decades aside from very, very controversial sequels in the form of the disgustingly unstable SpellForce 2 and more recently SpellForce 3 and its odd expansions.

On a technical side, SpellForce PE is a wildcard. It's utterly unstable and likely unplayable altogether without patching it back, which there is an option for through the Steam config. Even if you do patch it back, there is a variety of issues ranging from faulty sound effects, scuffed subtitles, blackscreen on start-up, crashes and freezes. The last of which being especially worrying in the near future, since there have been reports that the latest graphic drivers tend to have SpellForce freeze your entire system. This is not specific to the Steam version either as GOG suffered much similar issues. The only version that I found to be largely free of such problems is the regular retail version.

Some of those concerns can be remedied through relatively easy modding, a scene that has also very recently started taking interest in the game with some few incredible people remastering the different campaigns, doing work to remodel or fix other certain issues; All of which with much better results than the official team behind this corpse of a game.

This all being said, SpellForce is still very much worth playing. All of the three campaigns that are included in the PE will last you for a combined 80-120 hours. This is entirely separate too from the Free-Game Mode and PvP (lol), the former of which doubling as a soft Co-Op, though requiring third party software like Hamachi to make it work. Part of the length of the game stems not just from the expanse of the game maps and whatnot, but also from it being rather slow paced. It's not rare to spend hours on a map, often waiting for resources to amass, for your units to move over extremely large distances and so on. Likewise, RPG-focussed maps, i.e. maps that do not feature any base building or unit production also tend to be heavy in backtracking. While the pace of the game is decidedly slow, it's not as if there's a lot of raw downtime where you truly have nothing to do.

Instead there are a multitude of systems in play that will require attention aside from simple unit control. That is your own avatar, who is entirely free of any class restrictions – i.e. the game is very open in allowing you to play anything from a simple warrior, specialized in a certain weapon – to a hybrid battlemage. If you do consider playing such a hybrid: A battlemage, a very varied sorceror, a fighter that dips into many different weapons and skills, consider that the game is still restrictive in that there is a stat requirement to advance said skills: Therefore it may be punishing for a first time player who spreads their points too thin and can't finish any tree, or it may be worthwhile looking into mods that tweak those restrictions or allow respecilization; Something that is sorely missing in the base game, especially with how much commitment a single campaign demands from the player.

Aside from your own character, you get an entire party of heroes to control and frequently replace that are, except for their skills and their inability to level up, fairly similar to your own unit. These are not to be thought of as more contemporary RPG companions as none of them have dialogue or are otherwise relevant for the overarching story. Likewise, decision making is very straight forward and while you can finish *some* side-quests in multiple ways, which is more an exception than the rule, your own input in how the story pans out is fairly limited. Instead, dialogue choices come down to investigating your current situation, perhaps inquiring about a quest, or a flavorful way to find out more about the world and its characters. You may think of your character as a soft pre-written protagonist, with a distinct personality, a straightforward way of acting that you simply get to nudge towards certain directions, whereas most customization lies in how you want to build your character and your party, both of which also being your strongest and most important RTS units by far.

As expected, there are two factions, each consisting of three separate races that all play radically different. Not just due to unit limitations, for example dwarves having no tower buildings whatsoever, or trolls having no access to any magic, but also due to every race having unique gimmicks. This dips into something the SpellForce series always had issues with: Balancing. Whereas I found myself playing SpellForce 3 solely with my main character due to the best tactic being to simply spam your strongest magic on the enemy buildings, SpellForce too has a large bias towards both certain character builds, as well as units, though not to the same gamebreaking degree.

Coupled with the game, while at times certainly challenging, being altogether pretty forgiving and leaning into more freedom in terms of how to build your characters and tackle maps, much of those balance issues can be overlooked and instead play decently into its replayability as by the end of the game, you will end up exceedingly powerful whatever you play.

Graphically, the game has aged fairly well. Especially considering that most of the time, you'll be playing from a bird's-eye view instead of third person, which masks a lot of the more dated textures. That being said, there are issues with the base game not supporting widescreen. Depending on your monitor, you may either end up with a stretched screen which would not be too bad, or excessive letterboxing. If you use a widescreen fix, you'll face some issues with clipping models. The soundtrack is stellar but also features some technical issues. Certain sound effects, for example wolf howling, can't be regulated in the options menu and tends to be exceedingly loud. One music piece in particular is bugged insofar that there is a windows error sound included within; Something I can't remember my retail version having.

TL;DR
+ Three separate, expansive campaigns (20-60 hours each)
+ Extreme freedom in character building; Multiple skill trees that may be freely mixed
+ Recently active community support; Relatively easy modding that fixes the worst quirks

+/- RPG elements largely limited to character progression, rather than the ability to influence the story
+/- Replayability depends on your interest in toying around with different character builds and/or Free Game mode
+/- Generally high quality visuals and sound design, held back by modern technical issues
+/- Some balancing issues leading to certain character builds being distinctly more powerful, though every character will end up sufficiently strong by the end of any of the campaigns

- Exceedingly slow pacing that isn't entirely remedied by the game's size nor its complexity
- Generally weak english voice acting, due to the game being natively german
- Generally unstable. Only properly playable at all through a separate legacy branch (Properties -> Betas -> original 1.54)
- May or may not spontaneously combust your system

SpellForce is a tragically mishandled series. And the PE is no exception. With recent issues due to graphics drivers and the lack of distinct support after the 2019 patching attempt to fix some of those issues failed miserably, it's going to become more and more of a chore to keep this corpse of a game running. Still, I haven't seen another game try to be as ambitious as SpellForce PE and succeed so well in combining the RTS and RPG genres while telling one of the best fantasy stories in the medium.

Endless hours of fun. This first in the series of Spellforce games is truly a classic and was ahead of it's time for the genre. I recommend to ANYONE considering to play the current Spellforce 3 games, to first go back to the originals and do a complete playthrough at least once and also with the Spellforce 2 series to grab onto the lore and rich story environments. To this day I still give Spellforce platinum 9.5/10 Rating.

First of all this version has some bugs. I've experienced some performance issues but with some adjustments of the game's settings it's not too bad. The old engine has problems with new systems but nothing game breaking any more.

This is the third copy of the game that I've bought beacause I lost the other two and that indicates what I think of it. It's just fantastic. I've never played any other game like it, it's really unique. It's a mostly linear rpg with at least 60 different maps in three different but connected stories although you travel back to maps you've been to quite a lot. It's not open world but it feels like it. On top of that rpg there is a real time strategy game. Your hero is bound to a rune and can't die although you can be defeated in combat. You summon your troops at monuments. You can summon up to 5 different Heros like you but weaker and there are six different playable races. Humans, Elves, Dwarfes, Orcs, Ogres and Dark Elves. Pretty classic choices but the races are very well balanced and all of them are fun to play.
Every single map gives you a different combination of these monuments. Sometimes you'll have Humans and Elves, sometimes Orcs with the five heroes, sometimes Ogres and Dark Elves, sometimes just the five heroes and sometimes you'll be alone. There are seven different classes for your hero to choose from and with the right skilling you can combine two of the them which makes fun combinations.
The story is solid and interesting and the dialogues are fun. Although I have to say that I don't know about the quality of the dubbing for the English version. I've only played the German original.

I love this game.

The game itself is incredible BUT it doesn't integrate through steam well. The latest update corrected a lot of compatibility issues with later devices but also added a bunch of new bugs into the game. If I wasn't already a huge fan of the game the bugs would not be worth fighting through to play the game itself. Trying to do another play through from start to finish and I have encountered several levels where I had to leave a zone and re-enter because the game would freeze (swarm bug) and the fixes involving rolling back to previous versions break my saves.
This game is very different from its sequels and really deserves a play through but I really don't know how to suggest working around the issues it has now.

The roughest jewel

Spellforce Order of Dawn released just two years after acclaimed Warcraft 3 (1 year after Frozen Throne) and that might have an impact on its player count. It wasn't as well known as the giant made by Blizzard, but those who played it, loved it - and for good reason.

Spellforce is a combination of RTS and RPG - devs basically took concept created by Warcraft which is to have a strategy game on a medium scale with heroes leading armies and being more than just stronger version of some unit and having separate leveling, equipment and spell system. Spellforce took this concept and broadened it. Instead of every map being strickly RTS, some maps are more RPG oriented - just your hero (called Rune Warrior) and possibly some of his companions summed from monument. Majority of the maps are of course strategy-oriented but the RPG levels provide welcoming distraction.

Unfortunately, not everything is great. Although Spellforce along with all its DLCs has become one of my most favuorite RTS games of all time, there is no denying that the game is in horrible technical state - input problems, crashes, units not reacting, resolution stretching to different directions after cutscenes and even though there is now widescreen resolution which is nice, the same patch that added it broke the game on some maps where enemy spawns broke so much that it overflows map with enemies and crashed the game because of it. The solution to this is to revert to previous patch, but you will lose widescreen because of it.
Like I said - very rough jewel that is still worth playing due to being between the best fantasy RTSs of all times.

Pros:
+ Graphics still look passable even today and the overall aesthetic of the game still remains gorgeous
+ Main story, even though its clichéd as hell, still does a good job of getting you into the Spellforce lore
+ Character customization and levelling - huge range of equipment, spells and variety of classes you can create as well as hybridization and how different skills go together
+ Amount of units and races - 6 playable races split between dark and light races that require different resources and have different strenghts and weaknesses as well as working together in an interesting way
+ Enemy variety - many different foes to fight from bandits to orcs to shadows to demons
+ Lenght of the game - easily over 100 hours when main game combines with DLCs
+ 2 DlCs included - Breath of Winter and Shadow of The Phoenix where SotP combines both main and BoW campaings and allows you to transfer hero from any of these
+ Soundtrack is absolutely amazing
+ Ability to form groups and bind them to a key is very useful

Cons:
- Bad voice acting ( but its that funny kind of bad)
- Bugs and glitches
- Input issues
- Certain maps are broken due to spawn problems
-Breath of Winter DLCs was done incredibly sloppily - some dialogues are not translated from german, difficulty goes into bul*sh*t levels and soundtrack loops are botched and OST itself even has windows error sounds in it because someone forgot to listen to their own work
- Screen stretching after cutscenes meaning I have to restart the game every time a cutscene ends
- If you choose hero's starting skill as anything else than combat arts, he will not autoattack enemies meaning you have to constantly micro-manage him

Note that even though I am very critical, I absolutely adore this game - it is easily on par with Warcraft games, it is just the technical state that brings it down and I feel compulsed to mention that. However, I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this game. It's got an interesting blend of RPG and RTS, and while it doesn't excel at either, it's more than the sum of its parts. The RPG progression is more involved and interesting than, say, Warcraft 3. It's been a while since I played it - I really should have written this review after I beat it - but I don't remember having any major complaints, and definitely spent a lot of time with the title.

One thing I particularly liked about it was the in-universe justification for resource gathering and army-building. Your Rune Warrior can create soldiers using his magical power, but you still need to equip them, so you gather resources to make equipment. I thought that was a neat way of explaining a ubiquitous aspect of RTS games that's normally glossed over.

One of the first games I have ever played, alongside HOMM 3. Sadly, when i was a kid i couldn't exactly afford it so a bootleg version was the only way to play it. Even with bugs and all that it was great.

Skip a decade or two:
Redeemed myself somewhat by buying the game a few years back and hopefully supporting the developers make more lovely content (spellforce 3 is an awesome game as well).
Bought it for the nostalgia, and kept playing cause the story is still as beautiful as i remember it all those years ago.
Still think its the best game in the whole franchise even after all these years.

I am not a reviewer by any means, but if at least one more person feels like he wants to try this lovely game because of my comment, it would bring me great joy indeed.

Graphic is kinda shit, if you buy it now, but you'll still fall in love with the characters and story.

After playing this game for 70 hours, finishing the campaing and almost finishing the Breath of the Winter Expansion, I can give a fair statement about the game.

Gameplay - 7/10
The gameplay has its ups and downs. In the beginning the game is really fun, because the mix of RPG and RTS is unique and new. Also, it has a very longlasting campaign (~50h including side quests). However, after the first 10-20h, you notice some problems here and there, such as the long backtracking for some quests and the long walking times in general. You waste a lot of time walking around. Also, the music can become repetivie, especially the battle music.

The story is kind of forgettable, although the lore behind the game and the world building is intruiging.

The RPG elements keep you engaged for most of the game, as there are contiously better items and spells to improve your char. However, the item set is not particularly large. The RTS elements are a little bit better in my oppinion, as there are in total 6 different races to play throughout the game with 15-20 buildings and around 10 unit types per race. Although the building roles are similar in practice.

Graphics - 8/10
The graphics for that time (2003/2004) are quite impressive. Huge landscapes and life-sized buildings. Also, it has some nice lighting effects here and there. Character models are quite detailed and the textures still look fine to this date, although dull at some points. Also, the effects (e.g. spells) are not amazing, but do the job. In general, quite good graphics for a game from 2003 by a small German developer.

Sound - 7/10
The music in general is really good. The game has an orchestral soundtrack with track that set the mood nicely in most parts of the game. Although, some tracks are repeated too often.
All the dialogues are vocalized in English, which is nice. However, the voices vary between corny and really bad (but can make you laugh at some points, e.g. the voice of bloodash).

Conclusion - 7/10
All in all, it is a fun game for people who enjoy old school RTS games and want to try something different. People that are more in to RPGs will probably miss some depth in the RPG part. If you can pick this game up for a few bucks, I would recommend trying it.

A childhood game, brings back memories.

The story takes place after a war that tore the world apart. So called Order of Dawn, an organization responsible for rebuilding it, summons you from afterlife to face new threats. As a runic hero, you wield powers of runes, allowing you to build economies and lead armies. The gameplay is fun, it combines RPG aspects like developing your hero with RTS combat.

The graphics are old but surprisingly decent. Although artistic design is cliche, it's beautiful.

It's one of those rare gems capable of standing the test of time. I can't get bored even now, with modern games at my disposal xD

An okay time-killer, the RTS part isn't bad but you'll be doing a lot of slow walking around without the ability to speed up time or mobility skills for your units. Leaving a negative review for the English translation though, both the written and voiced parts of it are poorly done and seem to be coming too directly from German. Lots of joinedwords, poor choice of words, wrong intonation, and the cherry on the cake, inconsistent translation (e.g. description of a building saying it produces unit A, while the unit you'll get is called unit B - it is one and the same unit, however)
