I don't think the game is bad, but I just can't recommend this. If you want a good arpg choose between Grim Dawn and Path of Exiles, those are the top dogs of the genre.
The looks of the game are very dated compare to those two, story also meh and kinda parodistic so not very enjoyable.

Almost perfect hack&slash RPG. The problem here are online services. If you can live with offline character I'm more then sure you'll like this game. Here is everything, nice palette of characters, large skill tree (haven't played previous parts so I am more then happy with the current skill-tree), nice taste of humor, many easter-eggs, quite large variety of items, with enchantments and essences, there are even optional tower-defense and management or tactical elements.
Now don't be dishearted with the online problems, it requires a patience as sometimes it is impossible to register a new character during some time frames, and discipline as very large stock of items can cause game to not save or save only story progress while neglecting items, achievements. Personally after I cut my equipment to only two bookmarks in chest everything returned to normal. This game runs without problems through Steamplay (Linux), and can land on large discounts (like now). Truly recommended.

It is not a bad game. But do not try to play it with friends, it will end in frustrating hours of trying to make it work. And if you finally manage to make it work it will be the same process the next time you start the game and try to play it together. I wonder how you manage to programm such a bad multiplayer. It wont even work via LAN.

This game is a'right. It's nothing to write home about, and the banter is often quite naff, but for the price I paid, I can't complain. It has a decent amount of content and some nice extra things to do, but they feel half-baked, at least if you are playing in single player mode. Not much more to say really :)

It does get very challenging in the higher levels and it is slow to level once you are higher.

The game doesn't properly implement keyboard and mouse controls when you turn on the game for the first time yet it also makes you restart the game if you want to use a controller. It takes up a huge amount of space on disc but still looks bad. It also FORCES you to create a neocore account before you can play online. (Online play is via steam multiplayer so there is absolutely no reason that you need a neocore account except to give them your e-mail so that they can send you spam.)

If you accidentally skip the opening cutscene, you can't watch it again even when you create a new game. (The only way to do that is to create a new character.)

All in all, this game creates a very bad first impression.

Perhaps it will change my mind later... I certainly hope so.

Usually ARPGs are generic. That is part of the appeal. Here, what is different is that the voice acting is really good, Lady Katarina is the star of the show as far as dialogue goes, and it has a few moments as an ARPG where you will enjoy the scope of the final battles. There is lots of variety re skill trees and magic items, and while the tilesets are used repeatedly, it just is still enjoyable overall.
The devs clearly loved making all these games, and they drop pop culture references a lot. You will groan about the tone at times, but how could a game like this take itself seriously? It is just an enjoyable gaming experience. It as been my go to game since I have been locked in due to COVID 19. Enjoy!
PS: Now that I finished it, while it was still a ton of fun, it should be an example for game developers for why they should stop using boss fights. That was a weak ending, chaining together final boss after final boss. Still a good game for the other 99% of the time.

I really like this game and I'm enjoying it a lot, but there is a huge problem with the saving system: the game saves your progress only when you're quitting the game. This means that if you're playing online and you suddenly lose your internet connection, the game will lose all your progresses.

Played all the games and this one as well, i got it for free, because i had all the other games, finished them as well.
Over all the game is good and if you don't have other three games just buy this one.
There are some small issues that i experienced and i don't like tower defense aspect of the game(if you do they released it as separate game - Deathtrap).

Very enjoyable ARPG. This game allows you to start on higher difficulties, i started on heroic, switched to fearless around midgame and switch to ordeal 1 around chapter 7. Games like Grim dawn do some things better but this game ultimately proves to be more fun as you can start on a challenging difficulty, where as you have to beat grim dawn twice fully to start to actually have to bother with strategizing. For that reason i found this game to be more enjoyable and wish more ARPGs would allow you to start on higher difficulties instead of expecting you to start on normal and beat it multiple times wich basically makes your game kinda worthless.

If you're looking to play through this with a friend, you're better off playing the games separately. Worked great until the final boss of the first game, during which fight it became a nigh-unplayable lag-glitching mess (which we finished, and the lag stayed on permanently thereafter).
Plays fine on the host machine (until it crashes, which happens on occasion), but for anyone connecting, the world is mostly frozen for a minute or so at a time, after which everything teleports into a new position and you're more than likely dead.
It is worth the dollar fifty I paid, though. Just wouldn't recommend it at more than five bucks.

Awesome game, has been played crazily nearly 200 hours until I met the disgusting bug in Adventure mode which constantly retrogrades the progression of achieving mission when quitting game. I cant believe the bug has not been fixed until now in which was reported on Neocore Forum by others in 2017. Like but disappoint about the game.

Not a bad Hack & Slash RPG, but not great either. Graphics are okey and so it the music. Sound effects are a bit meh though. I really enjoyed the banter between the player character and your personal ghost companion. I also apreciated the large number of references that are in this game.

The main things I'm looking for in a great Hack & Slash RPG: I like interesting combat situations and especially a sense of impact and intestinging gear option. And this game, fell very short here for me. (And like I said, I enjoy the banter and references, but that can only carry you until a certain point)
I played some kind of Rogue character. It's main attack felt slow and visually very stilted and attacking with wifflebats. Hardly any visual momentum, hardly any visual impact... Makes a summersault attack that looks off-balanced and... deal some damage. Critical hits are visually unimpressive: often just a yellow number. If you are lucky, the enemy might go through a special animation. You may gib an enemy... but it looks like meh animated lump of giblets slowly falling to the floor. You may freeze someone, which was an okey animation. There is also some kind of magical disintegration thingy, but again... just so-so.

The game did offer lots of interesting customization options! Or well... interesting ideas that in the end fell kind of flat on it's face. :(
1) You can build your own character, spec in both active and up to 3 passive skills. Both kinds of skills allow bonus perks at certain level thresholds. And actives allow for 'execution modifiers', for example dealing more damage or adding a stun. These modifiers use a separate resource: Rage. Which you typically get for killing enemies. You can have up to 6 active skills. And the active skills are organized in 6 difference arcs of 3 skills deep, where the 2nd skill in each arc comes available after level 20 and the 3rd skill after level 40. Which felt a bit... anoying to me. Do I think there is room for making interesting builds? Sure! Did I actually like the combat to use those builds in? No, I did not... So make you wonder how much fun there still is in experimenting in builds was to me: after 15 hours it was 0 fun.
2) You can build you ghost companion. Want it to be a buff-bot for you? Perhaps you want a melee murder machine? Or some kind of spell-caster thingy? You can customize it behavior, like targeting preferences etc. I really like this mechism in the game actually! And I would love to see that back in some other game!
3) You off course have equipment. Which you can enchant to add a single bonus to it. And one of those possible enchantments (which can also be part of the item already) are Essence, that allow you to embed gems for more custimization options. And all those gems can be upgraded. And if that's not enough, you can even combine 2 items with a 3rd one, in an attempt to mix-match enchantments between these two in an attempt to further tweak/perfect that item into what you want. Lot of interesting ideas! But in the end, most items didn't come with special behavior, build defining triggers/passives or a very distinctive look. So most of the time, I just go through the motions to look at the stat differences and buy/equip something if it's better. I've seen a hint of item-sets being in the game, but it hasn't really impacted me in any way.
Oh, you have the ability to gamble... didn't think it was worth the effort in this game...
4) You can have some kind of pet, which you can passively let do missions in the background for you once every 15 minutes or so and netting you some items. For as long as you feed it gems. Interesting idea, but had hardly any useful impact in my playtime. Felt more like nuisance that I just wanted to ignore.
5) You unlock generals that can lead you army. You can send these on background missions too... To get ... euhm... it never really became clear to me on why I actually bothered with it? I could level those things and give them artifacts but... why does this even exist in this game? I must have missed something here...
6) As a monster hunter, over time gain thropies. Which you can hang on display to give you a bonus and a malus, like 'you deal more damage but all monster also deal more damage'. I only unlocked like 5 of them, while the game suggestes that would be about 20 or so available. Could be interesting to some players, to my build they were inconcequential and got ignored...

All in all, a game with some interesting concepts that felt like they were sub-optimally executed. In the end I no longer enjoyed my time with it. I think I've come about 75% of the story. There is even an Adventure mode, which I didn't bother with really.
I wouldn't easily recommend this game to people. Perhaps from a game design perspective it can have value to explore. But with options like Diablo, Torchlight, Dungeon Siege or Path of Exile available I would recommend those over this one.

This isn't the same thing as the version in the bundle of three games. They're incompatible for online play, and this one's basically an entirely different game class and skill-wise. Basically, don't bother with either, or maybe just do the bundled version instead. At least that one makes more sense.

1. Atmosphere, I guess? Slavic, Eastern European-inspired, and neat.

2. Follower. The follower lady is neat and can shop, fight, and pick stuff up for you. That's really handy, and she has her own skill tree and stats, and she levels up.

3 ... that's about it.

Third-party account is required. I made one, just to test this out, and, man, am I upset with that. The non-Final Cut version doesn't need that nonsense.

1. Progression. Maybe this is unique to the other version, that's not part of this Final Cut thing, but after 73 minutes on both Hard and Heroic modes (the two harder ones), I didn't finish a single quest or get past the first major zone. The monster scaling is absolutely terrible. 60% more monster HP for 15% extra xp gain and 40% gold find? No, thanks. Even on Normal difficulty in this version, after 0.8 hours, my friend and I got to the first side-area, the wolf den... and it was just tedious.

Increasing numbers doesn't make things easy or hard, it makes them tedious or boring.

2. Skill tree. It's so bland and illogical, it's shocking they even did what's currently implemented. A lightning spell unlocks an ice spell, which unlocks an arcane spell. Well, that'd be fine, if you didn't need to dump five skill points into your current spell before getting the next one in the chain. They don't work together, and the synergies are just an excuse to try to get you to dump points into one tree... if you can call a chain of three skills a tree.

The bundled, non-Final Cut version, has a better tree, but that's comparing basically two entirely different games and systems. That one has three separate trees: auras, active skills, and tricks, which are basically an extra spell slot or two. This one has just one sprawl of nonsense.

Both games use passive addons for skills as rage-spenders, a resource you get by fighting stuff. These addons suck and waste skillpoints. Just dump your points into the primary skill.

The skills themselves are anemic and deal terrible damage, encouraging you to dump points into them, I guess... but... just don't, since... they all suck?

3. Online play and general versioning. This and the bundle that's currently on-sale, the standalone games, aren't compatible with each other and are basically two entirely different games. That's nonsense, especially since this version requires a third-party account and is arguably worse than the standalone game.

4. It's just boring. After trying both versions, I didn't feel like it was time well-spent at all.

5. Maps are static. The same layout will be used each time you visit a location.

Stay away from this version, it's not very good and the skills don't make any sense progress-wise. Oh, and the stat trees (not just skill tree) are also different between this and the non-Final Cut version. It's a slog that looks nice, but is very bland after a little bit of playtime.

I liked the look and feel of the world, but the gameplay itself is outdated, and somehow worse in this than the non-Final Cut, standalone version.

First there are some things i don't like :

* Power ups : annoying system
* Overwhelming point system : points for Katarina, points for skills, points for auras, points for perks. And each of these have a ton of choices to put your points in.

What do I like ?

* great visuals and fitting voice acting.
* Lady Katarina ! She not only is a useful companion (fights and give buffs) but her appearance, her accent and cheeky quotes make me wish a had her as ghost companion in real life.
* Great atmosphere, I both like the gothic part and steampunk part, but the first part has the best. In later game I was a bit annoyed by some pop cultural references. This was unnecessary and breaks the atmosphere a bit.
* While the point system is overwhelming, I must admit it ads tons of variety. Before the whole point system you have also the choice between 6 classes.
* Much gameplay, it’s a trilogy. I haven’t played it separated but I think these would be too short.

For who is this game ?

* If you like hack and slash games like Diablo and Titan Quest this is something for you. If you haven’t TQ, grab that too. It is based on mythical creatures in the ancient world (Greece, Egypt, … )

Very satisfying mechanically, mostly better and more fun classes than the original version (though satisfying 2 weapon melee is gone), story is whatever but you don't play ARPGs for the story (though there's some funny stuff in the game)...

But I bought it for the multiplayer, and the multiplayer randomly broke and we couldn't get it working again. Not even with port forwarding as suggested online, which seems to be a trend on Steam. Happened when one of us was switching the DirectX version, so uh... don't?

If I figure out a fix I'll come back and explain it, until then I can only recommend it as a satisfying single player ARPG.

Oh btw I cheated and tested all abilities for every class, so when I say they're satisfying I mean it. Wouldn't have cheated, but there's barely any info on the game out there.

I'm thoroughly having fun with the game so far. I didn't expect too much based on the reviews. The gameplay can be addicting. There's 6 classes to play so plenty of playstyles to choose from. Loot is nothing too special but good enough. Also, I love the banter between the main character and his ghost companion. Good writing and dialogue. The combat doesn't feel as fluid and smooth as Path of Exile or Diablo 3 but it's sufficient enough and has its own identity. Gameplay wise, it starts off slow but as you progress, you feel more powerful and the fights feel and flow much better. All in all, fun game!

This game is a fine action RPG, it is a little on the basic side, but there is plenty of content. Your sidekick, the ghost of a noble woman, has some of the best lines in the game.

However if frequent pop culture references bother you, you may want to take a pass. If you love this type of thing, well then this games for you, enjoy a pop culture reference with your pop culture reference on top of pop culture references

This is a Remake of the original three games:

- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing;
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II;
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III;

If you already have the three of them or bought the [The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing Anthology Package], don´t buy this game, because you can simply get it for free by going to Neocore´s site and Redeem it without paying.

In my opinion this game is amazing, i deemed it a total 9/10, and here's why:

- Immersive game with wonderfull landscapes;
- Amazing soundtrack and boss fight music;
- Katarina is a wonderfull companion that gives much needed support, and has a refreshing and witty comentary, that makes the overall game feel better, less boring and less linear;
- The game has intelligent Pop Culture Refferences all over the place;
- The Class and Stat Distributtion has meaning and can be completely costumized, if by any chance you decide you want to try new playstyles;
- This game in particular joins all three Val Helsing games into one big Storyline that feels satisfying.

But of course it also has some cons aswell:

- Some of the locations can feel a bit repetitive and so can the monsters;
- There is a necessity for a little bit of grind in certain points of the game, so you can level up and grab some better skills;
- The controls may feel a bit strange to people who are not used to playing ARPGs;
- Games like Diablo and Path of Exile are great competitors and direct competition, therefore the lack of popularity...

If you are on the edge of Purchasing the game, i absolutely recommend it.
If you can grab it on Sales, even better.

Thank you for reading, i hope you all the best.
Sorry for the grammar(Non-english Speaker).

Enjoyable, full of pop culture references galore, witty B-movie level banter and hilarious voice acting. The Final Cut managed to unite the best parts of the franchise under one hat. For anyone wanting a nice Diablo-esque adventure with strong ties to the old folk tales of Eastern Europe, Russia and Slavic folklore and a glorious mix of other weirdness, check it out.

They took down the servers which means you have to play in offline mode which leaves you no way to reset a zone to farm for gear or levels once it's cleared it's done making fetch quests and backtracking even more boring. I now also have a bug where the background in the lair flashes yellow/green constantly making even someone without epilepsy feel like they might have a seizure. Also, 1 in 3 times I launch the game it loads no intro videos and a black screen with the menu over it no background or character models. Thought this was the best way to experience these games as a new player to the franchise but I just uninstalled because trying to finish it feels more like a chore than anything else. It's a shame I loved the banter between VH and Katarina and the overall atmosphere.

Good only if you dont have previous games because you get all three games in one and if you are solo player. Co-op is impossible to play due freezing and lags - no matter who host.

Cant recommend.

+ All three Van Helsings together
+ Enhanced textures (for free) and skills
+ Lady Katarina
+ Lots of easter eggs

- Needs internet connection and Neocore account to play
- Cant transfer characters from previous VanHelsing games
- Rollbacks due the need of constant internet connection (sometimes small, sometimes big) - but that only happened during Adventure Map mode
- Cant connect to others with internet (errors have never been solved)
- To play co-op you need VPN
- During co-op everyone who is not host LAGS and FREEZE ALL F#&@ TIME - unplayable
- Progress is slow even on higher levels
- Small glitches
- Second Van Helsing game (talking about defending yourself on map against everything right at begining) - i hate that part
- Some enemies are too OP no matter what you do or what you have - i am looking your way Stongman (and your variations)

With a 90% discount, it's a crime to not buy this game. One of the best old school Action RPG with familiar loot system from Diablo, with a deep combat system, combined with interesting characters and story.

Just get it, you will get your money's worth out of it. It's outdated, sure, but the core gameplay is golden.

Van Helsing – The Final Cut is a fun game with good graphics and a fun story. Although the story is mostly basic, it is enough to carry the game along. The Final Cut contains all three parts that have been previously released. The game is fun but never takes itself seriously and is constantly throwing jokes around. I have played over 250 hours which is more than I usually play on any game.

The story ranges between boring and bad, coop play is broken in several ways, the loot is boring, the classes/skills/auras are boring, the endless barrage of crappy references is annoying as hell, the resistance quests are busy work.
The only highlight of the game is Katarina which is more often than not amusing or even funny.
Fans of this genre should avoid this game and play good ones like Titan Quest or Grim Dawn, or even Diablo 2.
Better than the sum of its parts
This is truly an incredible adventure (no pun intended). On the first glance this is your average run on the mill ARPG, and you might be right. But it's important to set the expectations right and know what to expect from this game.
This game was my starting point in the Van Helsing franchise, so I didn't know what features and mechanics they've changed or removed from the first three games.

What I liked about this game:
- the setting of Borgovia and the surrounding areas are a joy to explore
- game's atmosphere
- fun character classes
- Lady Katarina and Van Helsing are excellent characters and their voice actors did an amazing job
- story was pretty good
- plenty of interesting side content
- LOTS of references and easter eggs

What I didn't like (that much):
- gameplay loop (isn't as deep as some of the other contemporary ARPGs
- loot is pretty underwhelming
- uneven difficulty (can't properly explain the rage you'll endure when your hardcore character bites the dust)

All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend this game, especially if you can get it at a discount (Neocore Games are usually on sale, and when they are, they go up to 90%!), you get three great games that are packaged in one amazing package.

Final score: 8.4/10
PS. I liked the final cut so much that I bought all three games separately in order to compare these standalone adventures to this final cut, and will update this review if needed.

amazing game, everything Diablo 3 should have been and wasn't.
cute graphics, full-of-humor dialogs, fun skill system that lets you adjust your skills as you want, and many hidden content and side quest to make the game so fun and enjoyable.
The presence of the ghost completes you to have melee if you are ranged, or the opposite.

recommanded for every1, do not hesitate :)

good game. I really like the connection between the main characters and the pop culture references as Easter eggs.
I played this on hard difficulty with controller and worked pretty well for the most part, some of the towers on tower defence side quests were hard to select because of this tho but didn't need them anyway.

art and atmosphere were great

loot felt a bit meh (played the exo suit class)

bought this on sale and was well worth the price for time

I'll start by stating 'I am 76 years old, with arthritis' so I do use mods and cheats. So.

I got the Van Helsing games about 4 years ago.
I got through the first game, it was too hard to be fun.
Now I use mods and the 4 games have good quests and maps.
(Van Helsing, Van Helsing II, Van Helsing III and Van Helsing Final Cut)
In the last 4 weeks I have played them for about 200+ hours.
The 'Final Cut' game is the combination of all 3 games in 1 sequence,
with small changes in the abilities and player setup.

If you likre RPG games these are good.

I actually got this game several years ago, played it for around 20 minutes, then wrote it off as a poor man's Grim Dawn and uninstalled it. It wasn't until just recently that I reinstalled it on a whim and gave it another chance. I'm glad I did. Sure, on a surface level Van Helsing really does come across as just a worse version of Grim Dawn, but it does have a some neat things going for it. In particular, I like the pocket nightmare worlds you can visit, the amount of interesting/interactive/puzzle content found on the map, the cut-scenes for mini bosses, the boss battles that require using the environment in some way, It wasn't really until I got to the underground factory level that I also appreciated being in a location that wasn't yet another forest or a cave- no idea yet if this game has other levels like it but I appreciated that one. Oh, yeah, and even though I found her annoying at first I'll confess that the ghost lady companion and her backstory eventually did grow on me.

Now, there's certainly a lot to turn off players of the genre as well. The class abilities are... Okay. Not terrible but not all that exciting to use either. The loot/gear is just straight-up boring, and boring loot can be quite a sin in this type of game. My own biggest personal beef/annoyance is simply that I can't make a female character; all classes are gender locked as male. I'm not sure why that annoys me so much- I usually make male characters. I guess I just feel like it's one more character customization option taken away in a game that badly needed more, not less?

In short, yeah, the game is not great but it does have some hidden gems. I think it does suffer from unfair Grim Dawn comparisons, which is kinda sad because clearly some work was put into making Van Helsing its own thing, you just don't see that effort until later.

Even with that unfair comparison in mind, I'd still rank this game well below the likes of Titan Quest and Grim Dawn, no doubt. And yet, even though it's not quite as good as those games I think there's still some fun to be had here.

It's the first time I write a review. I am really dissapointed in the final cut. I played the first 3 games seperate and I loved them. I feel as if enemy scaling ruined this game.
BE WARNED: Farming (i.e. killing stuff and getting stronger) feels very unrewarding. I don't even see how it can be a thing is everything is scaled. And if a game like this is not about farming but only about the storyline than why have adventure mode etc??? I would advice people to play the first 3 games.
I am a single player so I don't care about connection issues. All my friends play on consoles I guess if you like coop etc consoles is where it's at.

I guess this game is good for people that don't like leveling things in a game. If you could stay level 1 you could probably finish the game that way. I feel really downthrodden because I loved the first 3 games.

For an ARPG this game is rather slow.

Additionally, the skill tree makes no sense. Lightning leads to Ice leads to something else that has nothing to do with either of those. The ability to synergize is very poor, and you have to pick up all of those inbetween skills and level them up even if you never want to use them.

The little perks that sit on each skill are also rather lackluster. Overall, this skill system is poorly thought out and not very fun to play around with. I am guessing it makes more sense on console.

Very Underrated aRPG

+Great VA, Lady Katarina never lets you get bored
+Good story and characterization, fun take on the Van Helsing lore
+ Final cut is 3 games + DLC in one, can be tiresome or a lot to play depending on your perspective
+Decent looking for ~2015
+Props to the devs for allowing keyboard movement, saves my mouse's life, which almost every aRPG game ignores
+Fun easter eggs

-Loot moderation is fine, but Legendary/unique/Godlike items are almost non existent for a casual play-through.
-Not sure if it's just me but I found Bounty Hunter the right and the most fun class to play with.

Highly recommend for a single player diablo-like aRPG game.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut (2015)

From the wiki:
Van Helsing: Final Cut takes The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 1, 2 and 3 and combines them together into one, continuous big game. The Final Cut features are:

- The classes from Van Helsing 3 have been completely reworked.
- Each class has it's own specific attributes.
- Completely new skill trees, each class can choose from up to 32 different Skills and up to 12 different Auras.
- Completely new Adventure Mode, which incorporates good old Scenarios with daily quests and timely events.
- Five new Difficulty levels for those who want the challenge

I'm gonna break down the game with four of these steps mentioned above. I asked my friend about the game cause he played all 3 of them, only for us to find out the Final Cut basically throws everything out the window. Different achievements and story events from what I can gather.

- There are six classes to choose from - Protector, Bounty Hunter, Elementalist, Umbralist, Phlogistoneer and Constructer. I picked the Constructer cause the idea of turret pet minions following you sounded cool only to be disappointed in how weak they are. All of them die to one shot from litterly the weakest enemies in the game. But his grenade abilities are amazing and clear mobs out like they are nothing.

- There are plenty of skills and auras to choose from and that's great. But some are better then others so you probably gonna end up with one tree most of the time. Level cap is 100 so you have room to play with different abilities.

- The adventure mode is basically the end game as the non uncut versions of number 1 to 3 are game over once you complete them. You do certain objectives for exp and loot on random generating mobs with a unique objective you need to complete. The more you complete, the greater your rewards over time.

- I just played on Normal. You have your very hard and hardcore mode where you die permanently if you kick the bucket.

So conclusion: if you like games such as Titan Quest and Diablo then this one should be entertaining for you. I enjoyed it a lot. The setting is great, the enemy design looks great and the world itself looks amazing and fun to explore. You play as the legendary Van Helsing - whats not to like?

I was really on the fence about getting this game or not. It's extremely difficult to find a decent ARPG/hack and slash game these days after trying or beating all of the best ones already, and I thought this one was going to be extremely mediocre. I've played this game quite a few hours in the past few days and it's been keeping me coming back for more. It reminds me of Victor Vran the most out of all the the ARPG games i've played. if you are having a hard time to find a hack and slash game to play, you can't go wrong with this one. I am def interested in trying the Warhammer Marty/Prophecy games made by Neo Core now.

updated review: this game is def awesome. reminds me if victor vran and Diablo 3 had a baby. can't believe i got this sick ass game for 6 dollars lol.
Not to be missed for fans of the genre!
Extremely solid, straightforward, and unfortunately insufficiently appreciated singleplayer-focused HnS-ARPG gem with a unique coat of paint and a handful of fresh solutions in the shell of a classic and soothing experience.

'Final Cut' is the fruit of years of work and experimentation on the brand and genre of the talented Hungarian studio 'NeocoreGames', presenting a definitive, structured package of content previously available as a trilogy released over three years. Rearranged and balanced thanks to years of player feedback and tons of dev experience, offers great gameplay, unique and alluring atmosphere (for players from outside, especially central, Europe - one that can be even called exotic), interesting story, great replayability relative to other offline products, and really quite decent audio-visual setting that still pleases the eye, not only because of the good artistic direction of the entire project.

Due to occasional quality bumps during the production of the previous installments, the existence of loud and flashy stars of the genre like Diablo III and lower PR/advertising capacity behind the developer - 'The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing' series remains below the radar for a lot of players, even those with many years of experience in dealing with hns arpgs. 'Final Cut' is a great opportunity to catch up and get to know one of the most interesting representatives of the genre from the last dozen or so years.

And now, years after release, this neat package offers even more excellent value for money. Dozens, potentially hundreds of hours of great fun spread across many various locations and skirmishes with varied, unusual, and engaging opponents.
It is worth giving it a chance, and on any half-decent sale - a game worth buying without thinking!

P.S. - by the way, I highly recommend the spin off of the series based on the Tower Defense formula. A huge surprise and just as much fun as core experience!

I can't recall giving a negative review before, but I'm very conflicted about this game. The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut is a serviceable ARPG. I was able to finish it and didn't want to stop playing during my run through the story. The mechanics were interesting and I liked experimenting with my build.

That being said, upon beating the final boss I just felt underwhelmed by the whole thing. I probably put thousands of hours into the Diablo games so this sort of ARPG game loop probably kept me hooked until I finished the story. The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut is missing (at least to me) the excitement and addictive gameplay loop that kept me coming back for more in previous ARPG's. At a certain point the game just becomes too easy, and that's probably a scaling issue I don't remember from the standalone titles.

In saying that I enjoyed the writing and the banter between characters was the highlight of my experience. The game was on a massive sale when I purchased it (and regularly is). If you get the opportunity to get this on a large discount I'd say do that. It's fun enough for the content it offers, and it's well written... but I'll still be waiting for that Diablo replacement... probably until the next Diablo game if I'm being realistic, or the next Path of Exile.

At full price I cannot recommend this game, buy it on sale. I wish there was a third review option aside from Yes and No.

This game is ugly, outdated, and the character models look like mud.
somehow I still really enjoyed playing it. It's very charming in its dumb humor. The dialogue, quests and characters are funny. It doesn't take itself too seriously so even when the humor doesn't land it's not a big deal. The gameplay is simple but hectic: you'll only die if you get overwhelmed by enemies. There's a lot of enemy and level variety between the three titles so the repetitive gameplay doesn't get boring. And even though the story isn't interesting, it's passable because the quests and characters hold up the game. Props to Van Helsing's voice actor too.

It's casual fun and I would recommend it just for the well crafted atmosphere. The music is legitimately fantastic and the CG art is amazing to look at. The game is just a fun lightweight ARPG experience, nothing serious.
It's almost always 90% off! Buy it!

I'm really enjoying this game so far. Only level 18, though.
I tried the original parts one and two a long time ago, and didn't really get into them...Then Grim Dawn came out, and...Yeah. Grim Dawn is better in basically every way.
Still, this Final Cut version is superior to the older games, IMO.
The classes and skills are better (you can pick from one of 6 classes now), you can turn on or off monster respawning on exit, change difficulty on the fly, everything feels tighter too. Plus, the high res free download does make the game look a lot better in 1440.
I've had no problems with glitches, bugs, or performance...As it should be. This is an old game, and my desktop PC is new.
I've been reading that there's problems with online/multiplayer...But I just play solo/storymode so that doesn't bother me.
Got this on sale for $4.49 and it was totally worth it.
If you like Grim Dawn, Diablo 2 and 3, Victor Vran, WH: Chaosbane, etc. buying this (on sale) is a no-brainer.

If you're looking for something with crunch and depth, play Path of Exile or Grim Dawn. If you're looking for something more casual or hack-and-slash looting simulator then this can satisfy that.

The writing between characters is cute, especially Lady Katarina who accompanies you throughout the whole campaign. The story is decent and enough to get you by as you smash your way through monsters.

The tower defense bit is honestly a bit weird but the fact that it's mostly optional gives it a pass.

If you get this on sale, this is most definitely worth the money and time.

It reminded me of parts of the Overlord games with the mythical elements and of course of Diablo 3 with the great ARPG game play. Only played as a Constructor so far. Don't get me wrong, the game is good and I have fun with it.

the issue is that the controller support kidda sucks and especially in some tower defense mission.

I saw couple of threat in discussion on this issue since year 2015 but no update from developer since.

And one more things is that tutorial of using controller (tower defense) is no good. a lots of things I need to find out by google instead inside the game.

These few issue really screw up my experience with the game especially for a controller gamer like myself.

I'd suggest to start the game as an elementalist for zooming adventures & farming fate points & use it as your crafting character(% reduced enchanting costs items) and then make a phlogistoner as your second character for farming gold & get you going through the hardest difficulty levels to earn that juicy 200 fate daily limit & then have fun doing whatever the heck you'd like to do, because you are probably going to be rich as hell that way.

 • Main story is great to follow.
 • Endgame grinding is okay.
 • Quality of life features in this arpg game are among the best ones available out of all.
 • Catarina as your companion, you'll never feel alone, and there's twice the skill tree, and twice the itemization needed!
 • Loot is fine, gold is always useful, you'll need lots of it. Adventure mode always awards you with guaranteed epic items on top of fate points, or you can loot same places in story for epic items, or go back loot specific content for the first-time ever once you are level 100 char already, to get the specific story-only item scaled up to your character level.
 • Great difficulty system, where you can chose on which one to play and see for yourself if you can afford it, or if it's way too soon.
 • Lots of fun minmaxing builds and seeing how they grow in stregth through being able to hold against next difficulty levels, which happen to be pretty fun & challenging.
 • Respeccing your character is dirt cheap anytime you make a mistake, to prevent the player from an ultimate failure state without solutions.
 • The crafting on early game - combining two equal affixes rares into one stronger(adjusted to your character level) version with the same affixes is great to get kicked into the game with good gear, rather than relying on RNG drops.
 • If you're looking for some specific epic items in the endgame, like for example trophies for the table, it is obviously RNG-based, but you can still, always craft 2 epic items for 1 new epic item, to get another layer of possibility to give your odds another try.
 • Skills are great visually and playing your characters is enjoyable to look at, without too much sh*tload of effects going on. Only the actual effects that need to be seen.
 • Locations size is what you would expect. Not tedious to run past with neither a zoomer or a slower character.

 • Build variety is pretty bad. Most combinations on a specific character are non-viable for endgame content memes that just don't work. There is only like two combos at best for any character that would make sense in the long run.
 • Endgame crafting requires quite a bit of affixes knowledge(basically understanding set item pieces) and grinding for specific epic & set items that would reduce enchantment costs & then lots of gold in overall.
 • Main story act Bosses are disappointing, as well as the endgame bosses, the challenges rather come from big stacked groups of Champion creatures rather than bosses.
 • Daily fate points income ain't that much once you complete most of the endgame achivments.
 • Very few, but annoying details, such as that you need to level up from 99 to level 100 on adventure mode only, to actually get an achivment you'd be awarded for with fate points, as it won't count if you do that on story mode as comparison, resulting in a waste of time, and the need, to remake such character one more time.
 • Glitches, such as roll back in time & lose progression, to avoid it, simply don't become a hoarder, and make a regular use of items that you collect(that's what everything is for in this game), either combine-craft them into new ones, hopefully upgrades for your character, or sell them for gold. There is no reason to actually hoard anything. After 1200+ total hours on this game(also outside of Steam), I'm still only using one page of space in my character shared stash, as from an experienced player point of view I'd say hoarding anything in this game is pretty useless, except for just temporarily stash some items, until you'll find another stat-wise similar copy of a such, to use it in your crafting window for combine & use on your char.
 • If you don't have a friend to play it together with, forget trying to find a game online, most people play under password, if not, they'll kick you out of their room. If they are from a very far away region from your location, the game will be unplayable, will lag, will freeze, and you get kicked from such a lobby due to disconnection.
 • Very few main story quests that award you with skill points or attribute points, but failing those may result in losing these skill or attributes semi-permanently for the given character, and the only way to solve it, would be to repeat succesfully the given quest on multiplayer session of someone else with that character, it's the only way to have a second-go if you fail them. You might find it annoying to deal with, if you are a skill points & attribute points min-max type of person.

The pace of the game may vary depending on the class you are playing with, and the difficulty level you play on. Specific classes struggle more than others, some are awful early & shine greatly in the endgame, some shine early, but are mediocre in the endgame, other are specific, and you need to like that unique gameplay with them(mainly protector & umbralist).

If you got any further questions about the game let me know. I might add new points whenever I feel like doing so, or if I recall anything else worth a mention.

Having played countless of hours of Grim Dawn before, this is to my liking. Theme and gameplay are very similar to Grim Dawn. Voice acting is good, and the main character has entertaining conversations with his ghostly companion. Graphics look good, with the high resolution patch. I had some small bugs. The game doesn't work with high DPI scaling. This is a well known issue, and the solution is to disable scaling for the game. After disabling the scaling, the game still sometimes starts with no textures, but works after restarting. I guess the only bad thing compared to Grim Dawn is the class system, which is more traditional (no multiclassing), and the class skills tend to be a little boring, although having the companion with full skill tree helps.

This is a very fun game. Just remember to use DirectX9 if you are using the HD Texture DLC so you dont get lines on the map. You can also get a crisp picture by injecting SMAA and Lumasharpen with Reshade. Just disable ingame Anti aliasing. I highly recommend this game :)

A solid Diablolike. Not the best one in any department, but definitely something I enjoyed putting my 40 hours into.

Great game, focused on story play. Some great features like adventure mode. I love Lady Katarina, her banter and jokes are the best. The hidden content made the story a lot fun; there is a lot of pop culture references. I highly recommend the game.

Do not play this with intention to play this with friends as coop. You can maybe play it solo.

When game starts you will be asked for registration on some crappy site of developer. It doesn't mean anything in regards of coop with friends. Because you need to deal with port forwarding or other configuration of your router. Or maybe you can install virtual LAN (but then not everybody can join to one host because reasons). I just dont understand the registration on start.

Once you finally manage to join togather soon you will realize that XP gains are not equal. HOST of the game will just get more. No problem you might thing... And it is, because everything is scaling towards HOST. So if the person is 3 level above (as in our case) you cannot equip anything new till you level up because everythin is dropping for HOST level (EVEN THO THE LOOT IS NOT SHARED). In meantime you will get new loot, and again and again.

I just cannot recommend this for multiplayer. Story is ok and it has rather deep customization of character so that is that at least.

I recommend buying this one over the independent games. The skill tree is better and all games in 1 so progression feels more natural.

Absolutely not. Slow, Boring. Terrible skills, crap skill trees, nonsense story. Possibly my least favorite ARPG. Go play Grim Dawn.. or even Chaosbane if you're desperate.

It's frustratingly good. It's just good enough, with just enough potential, that you don't want to stop. Part of the issue is just bizarre design choices. You can't turn the camera, so you'll spend a lot of time trying to range fight creatures you can't attack because they're behind your UI. You can warp from any inkwell to the HQ inkwell, and to any inkwell from HQ, so why can't you warp from inkwell to inkwell? You're not skipping anything, enemies don't respawn. You're only skipping a long walk, which you have to do actively because you can't click on the minimap to walk. Gotta just hold mouse and guide or click foot by foot.

Why do the devs think that having the characters point out something as annoying will somehow make it less annoying? It's not, they were aware that making the first arch's villain speak exclusively in movie quotes was annoying and decided to do it anyway. In fact, they doubled down by making him never stop for air, so he cycles through all his lines at least once a minute, in a boss that took me 5. Speaking of which, why is it that I went the first 4 chapters, 12 hours of play, only getting noticeably hurt twice...and then the chapter 4 boss's attacks are all rapid fire, homing, and kill in 1 or 2 shots depending on which he uses?

I had already decided I was done once I finished chapter 4 an hour before beating it, but that boss would've made me decide to stop anyway. The game has frustrating amounts of potential. Katarina is great, the dialog at its best is truly great. But there are just too many negatives dragging it down for me to recommend. It's not terrible, I understand why some people like this though, there are definitely strong positives. just not enough for me.

This game is very middle of the road in pretty much every aspect possible.

I overall enjoyed it, but there is nothing here that I would say this play over another ARPG like Grim Dawn, Diablo, Torchlight, etc. Just nothing really sticks out or separates it from the rest to give you an actual reason to seek this particular game out.

The general level aesthetics are nice enough, there is enough variety where that is something that actually stands out in the game. Though the level design themselves is something to be desired, personally did not enjoy having to back track in an area just to hand in a side quest in every now and again. The flow just didn't feel great good portion of the time. Also not sure if this is something with the class I picked (Elementalist), but the impact of my spells felt very weak, the sound design just wasn't there. So the feedback of going through mobs didn't feel great. Also the spells I had for that class just generally weren't interesting.

Story is okay, the setting in itself is pretty cool but at some point I just lost interest and then there is your companion, game play wise is nice but she kind of gets annoying where I just started to skip dialog a lot of the time. The introduced a couple other game play mechanics, that I personally wasn't interested in, like a tower defense thing and a mission map where you can send out officers to do missions for stuff. Generally something I am not looking for in an ARPG, but I guess they were trying to do something different. Maybe it's meant to break up the repetitiveness that starts to come through the more you play the game, but those mechanics just weren't interesting enough for me to do that.

That said, I will give this a thumbs up because it isn't a bad game by any means but it doesn't do very much to pull you in the play it over other ARPGs. If you decide to play it anyway, just wait for a sale and keep your expectations at the middle of the road and it should be enjoyable.

Won't run good on modern machines. There's this DPI scaling issue which is faced by many others too. Tried the workaround and game started with no textures at all.
Login system broken. Can't ever get to login to play multiplayer.
I doubt the devs are gonna make updates now for these issues for what's now a pretty old game. Uninstall was my best option.

May be fun with multiplayer coop, but single player is very forgettable and boring. There's also no reason why this game doesn't support local multiplayer. It really should've been a possibility since even Diablo 3(console edition at least), which this game ripped-off, has it too.
