Über das Spiel

Die THE QUIET MAN™ LIMITED EDITION bietet folgende Inhalte:

 • Vollständiges Spiel
 • Bildschirmhintergrundset

???????????????????????????? ????????????????????!

A game like Rise to Honor (Back 2 the old Days) Is like kicking and boxing People to there deaths!

Facts:
+Very High Quality Grafik (Film and Game). And the switch between them is just awesome maked!
+Action (Dane and as the Quit Man)
+The Story is nice

+/- Acting is meehhh...
+/- Music is ok. Few sound like you playing Tekken 5

-I Think the producer or director of the game destroy the entire joy of this. Making you the player deaf is just shit. I know the main Character is deaf, common Man give me some subtitles!
=> Is just shit making all players, play the game 2 times waste 3h to see all answers ingame. There are so many ways, so many mods you could afford that. And excatly thats why 80-90% of the reviews are negativ!
- This one is just my personal opinion; Is Cringe man, how you couldn't find 2 similar actress. 1 for Lara and 1 for Danes Mom. Or minimum change their Styles. Dane is dating his Mom Aka. Girlfriend.

Seid gegrüßt...(stille),

Hier meine Review zu The Quiet Man

Genre: Abenteuer/ Action

+Pro:

+ nahtlose Übergänge zwischen Echtfilm-Sequenzen und Spielszenen
+ interessantes Drehbuch
+ massiv reduzierte Klangkulisse vermittelt Gehörlosigkeit recht gut
+ eingängiges Kampfsystem
+ Umgebung kann bei Auseinandersetzungen einbezogen werden
+ Bosskämpfe
+ übersinnliches Element in der Erzählung

-Kontra:

- fragwürdige Kollisionsabfrage in den Kämpfen
- schwache Kameraführung in Spielsequenzen
- fehlende Bildschirmanzeigen
- erzählerische Spannung verliert sich zu schnell

Fazit: Kann man empfehlen.

Actually the worst game I've ever played. My friend gifted me this game because it was 3 dollars and he wanted to watch me play to see how bad the game was. This game has the worst controls out of any game I've ever played like what are you doing? The games hitboxes are unbelievably fuc ked and I'll watch an enemy clearly finish their attack, then go over and get hit by an obscure lasting hitbox. Holy shit its actually so fucking bad.

This game was made after the producer saw a deaf kid and decided that being deaf is beating up the same 5 generic NPCs with the sound muted. The story is nonsensical. Characters talk at you despite your character being deaf. All dialogue you hear after the first scene sounds like a piano being played underwater. Your character has superpowers and is really into parkour for some reason. I finished the game in 2 and a half hours. I forgot most of the game the second the credits rolled.

This games concept fully revolves around the story. Even that doesnt hold it together.

Live action cut scenes with horrible acting, terrible unrelatable characters and you need to grind through the boring story without sound for the gimmicky reveal.

Between the terrible story sequence you have linear paths to walk through and incredibly repetitive fight sequences with incredibly bad mechanics and animation. Its so bad enemies teleport into your hands from the floor or you get punched by imaginary fists.

Seriously do not buy this games, this is one of the worst games I have ever played.

This game fails miserably in what it intended to do.
I have read people complaining about it being a silent game. As I am a lover of cult films, I decided to give it a shot. Boy, were they right...
It's a total mess. You have no idea what's going on and will be too bored by the repetitive and very simple gameplay in order to play it all over again with the possibility of having it sounded (second run allows it).
I cannot recommend it.

When I was a teenager, a game called The Bouncer came out. It was an early PS2 game, when the PS2 desperately needed new games. But the reviews and chat around the Babbage’s was that The Bouncer was bad. Short, repetitive, linear. A good looking but dumb beat-em-up. I didn’t play The Bouncer, largely because of this reputation but also because I was pretty broke.

The Quiet Man is a The Bouncer for this generation. I should have treated it accordingly.

This game is a movie that you play. Half of it is cutscenes. The other half is a simple beat-em-up, except that the game does nothing to explain its own systems. How to fight, how to counter, how to finish a fight, none of that is explained at all. It’s also extremely cheap and frustrating. The button that dodges attacks will dodge right into the attack even if you’re pulling away from the punch. Some enemies seemingly can only be beaten with a special attack mode, but I couldn’t figure out what it took to trigger. Overall, terrible gameplay.

But half of the game is cutscenes, and these are all professionally shot. It’s not a bad looking game and blends well between cutscene and gameplay. But your character is deaf and the whole game is from his perspective. In a completely bizarre stylistic choice, you can’t hear anything. Every spoken word sounds like muffled harps. Even your own sign language isn’t captioned. You can’t do anything but watch a mostly silent movie.

You can’t skip cutscenes, even if you’ve already seen them. You can’t save mid chapter, and most chapters start with a long cutscene. Once you finish the game once, you can replay it with the actual dialog and sound back in. But you’ve suffered enough, really. Doing this twice is just cruel.

Do not play The Quiet Man.

I was expecting this game to suck, really hard. I mean, it's definitely not breaking ground as a beat-em-up, and is kinda boring gameplay-wise, but the plot and everything is pretty good*.

But, therein lies the caveat: having the game mostly muted on a first playthrough was a risky move that sadly doesn't pay off until you finish the entire game and have to start over from the beginning again with sound. Don't get me wrong, it pays off in spades, but it takes a long time to get there.

Sadly, this game isn't fun, and I don't think game development or animation is really the studio's forte, but they really should try getting into film production, because the live action segments and the plot itself are both really, really good*.

*Statement applies in the context of playing through the game twice and only truly enjoying the second playthrough.

Unfathomably terrible. The experience is just you watching a silent film, with frequent breaks of mashing left mouse button, right mouse button and occasionally Q if you feel fancy, to beat up the same 4 gang members repeatedly. Avoid at all costs.

It's a schlocky B-movie with several dumb missteps and sometimes awkward delivery, padded with poor brawling sequences marred with poor feedback and technical issues.

So, why recommended? It's a tough question -- I'd say it falls somewhere between the 'recommended' and 'not recommended' for me. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but I enjoyed it for what it is: a 'so bad it's good' FMV game with interesting ideas, and I liked how the story can be interpreted differently based on whether you can hear the characters or not. I'd like to see other developers take the ideas from here and give them another shot.

Should you buy it? Ugh, try watching it on YouTube first, and if you feel like you really need to give it a shot on your own, then get it on sale.

First off; I am the current #1 Quiet Man Speedrunner IN THE WORLD. With that being said.....

Nobody should ever play this game, it's just that bad. You might think I'm just trying to protect my title but I'm one of the 11% of people who have the achievement for finishing the game a second time. Not convinced yet? Ok, how about this? After two and a half years I am also the ONLY person who has submitted a speedrun of this game. Think of the worst game you've ever played and it probably has a handful of people speedrunning it for the memes but when I checked there wasn't even a listing for The Quiet Man. That's how bad this game is.

If you want to challenge my time, and I don't suggest it, be aware that you're in for at least 2 hours of mental and physical exhaustion. This was Jim Sterling's worst game of 2018 and I 100% agree with that now that I've experienced it for myself.

I thought this game would be really good for deaf awareness etc but it's instead exploitative and it isn't understandable without actually hearing the diaolgue.
It's also frustrating as the character you play can read lips and knows sign language but if you can't do these things, you're more than deaf, you're also shut out of basic communications with other characters.
The final straw came as some talking scene didn't even use FMV. A digital character talking is extremely hard to lip read. Especially when they keep turning away from the player character.
I love square enix but this one was a total let down!

I really really wanted to like this but was thoroughly disapointed. The combat sequences are simple and sorta fun but everything else was an entire miss. I bought this on sale and I've asked for a refund.
Next time, Square Enix and Human Head Studios, go hang out with deaf people and find out what it's really like and not this crap that makes deaf people seem absolutely useless!

I get what they were trying to do but it's... not quite there.

The game is essentially a late night B-movie with some playable scenes. Then they want you to experience the feeling of being deaf while this goes on because the main character is deaf. The thing is: these two things aren't mixed very well. First off, the main character (Dane) seems capable of communicating, so he can at least hear a little or read lips. In fact, he even speaks and the other characters understand him. Several times already I watched him have a back and forth dialogue. However, we are not given subtitles even during these scenes. Everyone that knows him talks to him casually and he seems to be picking it all up, so we're not experiencing the world through him... he's doing a much better job than we are. Also, there are cut scenes we are given to watch without Dane around, so why can't we even hear those? So it's not so much experiencing a deaf main character but more so that we as the observing audience are deaf and trying to watch a movie not intended for deaf people. If such was actually the case, we'd do what I imagine any deaf person watching a movie would do... turn the subtitles on. I tried to do this and was even prompted at the beginning that they would provide subtitles when necessary, but I haven't seen a single one since the first guy ranting in the first scene and no combination of making little neon signs light up in the settings menu has changed that. So apparently the only dialogue I *needed* to hear was some lowlife describing how a non-story female was once catcalled.

Is it a good movie at least? Meh. Not really. It's what you would expect if you were watching an action suspense pulp on Showtime at 3 a.m. I am certainly not sold on Dane being some kind of unstoppable combat force. He looks like he's 12 and his overall impression is more of a shoplifter than someone out fighting an endlessly populated machete-wagging street gang with his bare hands. He keeps going up to people and putting on his tough guy face and the script tells them to be intimidated by this. It's not working on me though. To me his face looks more like he's mad that no one saved him a piece of birthday cake. Then his big tough guy move that he already used multiple times is to take your handkerchief and use it without your permission. WHOA! I bet if he were here right, this super badboy might even take the last soda in the fridge!

I intend to play it through because I am of the understanding that I will be able to watch the cut scenes again afterwards with full audio. That will make the 4 bucks I paid for the game balance out.

Oh and last thing: Needs more npc skins. I keep beating up the same four people. I don't mean like I beat them up and later on they find me and I beat them up again. I mean I beat up four guys, then walk into the next room and there's the same four guys again and I beat them up, then walk through a door and there's two of the same guys ready to fight with eight unconscious bodies behind me. Then you beat THOSE two up and the same two guys come busting in wearing police uniforms and start checking out their own unconscious doppelgangers.

From the live action switch to 3D gameplay was off.

Let me begin that I read most of the recent reviews and ignored all of the negative reviews of this game... and let me tell you, they are ALL right. This game is sooo poorly put together. Why have live action seens as cuts and then terrible 3d graphics for the playable action. Don't get me wrong it started out good but then very quickly, I seen why it has mostly negative reviews. Please save your money unless it is free. THEN and only then it might be worth to play... if you're bored.

I Love The Fighting IN THIS GAME!!! I HAVE ENJOYED THE GAME SO MUCH THAT I PLAYED IT TWICE! I Recommend that you play the game that second time around because it made the game 10x more interestinger... Also I Love the fact that the Mom And Lala play the same actor because I never know which one is which... Also all the different fighting styles in the game keep me motivated to keep playing the game to see all the different MOVES... The First Time Around When I played the game I Was hearing the perspective of a deaf man. That makes the story a 10/10 just because I have a big imagination and I Assumed every word they were saying at first... I also love the fact that Isaac was 8 feet tall... Buy The Game even if its 30$ + Because it is worth it... Its also short and sweet... :)

This game is like a failed experiment. The main character is deaf and you play with zero audio feedback. This is something i have never seen or heard of. You are just watching a movie and beating guys in between the cutscenes. Again with no audio feedback and zero directive, fighting becomes unbearable. There is no story unless you finish the game and restart, cuz you are deaf. This should have been a different game. I like the idea and the quality of the game but it is unplayable with common gameplay methods. You need to bring innovative dynamics into this kind of novel approach. You can enjoy the game by watching a walkthrough video.

Ok, the game has it’s share of issues, specially considering mechanics. However, most bad reviews are about “how the game does not work because it have no sound”, and this is kind of an absurd. The whole idea of the game was to be a fair experience of being somewhat alike a deaf person, as the main character is.
It’s a fictional story and so, even though it might not represent exactly how it is to be deaf, this is a unique experience in a game. Should grant it at least a neutral score.

In addition, you play the whole game (and it is not a long game) without a clue of what’s really going on, which is amazing! Each player tells itself his own personal version of the story, and I bet nobody got even close to guess the details right, which you get to know by unlocking a second run with original audio.

Another good point for this game is it's graphics and textures. The game is kind of cinematographic, so you can see a really nice work in the scenario aesthetics, textures and lights. By far one of the best I've ever seen.

All in all, It’s less than 6 of gameplay (considering both runs) with a nice storyline and unique experience. If you can bear the mechanic issues (which are few, and I guess the major problem is that the only mechanic in the game is to fight), and are into discovering the story as it unfolds, I totally recommend it.

Fun-fact: Even better if you play streaming to friends and discussing the game. Each friend will have it's version of the story. Also, you can have fun voicing the game characters with all kind of nonsense you can imagine!

Genuinely the worst game I have ever played relative to its budget. Not even worth playing ironically or to laugh at. Just miserably terrible.

I'm a sucker for playing bad games. I have a morbid curiosity in playing a game that has such a poor reputation that I feel compelled to experience it for myself. Over my 35+ years of gaming, The Quiet Man is up there as being one of the worst games I've ever played. Yes, I've played indie trash and asset flips, which on a technical level may be worse; but Quiet Man is just a bad on multiple levels. This game appears to have had a decent budget with backing by a large publisher and it's by a developer that has had success in the past, yet they squandered this by creating a game around a fundamentally awful idea that is executed poorly.

Whoever thought it would be a good idea to do a FMV focused game with most scenes involving the characters talking without sound or subtitles had a monumentally stupid idea. The majority of the game you will watch people talking, without having any idea what they're saying or ability to learn the subtleties of the story. It's not engaging in anyway at all.

Once you get to the fighting aspects of the game, you'll find a simplistic; but broken feeling experience. Characters will clip through the environment and each other. You'll see punches and kicks go straight through the enemy models without causing any damage. There's also no tutorial, instructions or hud so I never grasped how the fighting system really worked. Sometimes I could enter into a 'hyper' mode where I would just go ballistic on the enemies; but I don't understand when I could or couldn't get it to activate.

The one positive I would give this game is that the transitions from the FMV to environment was fairly well done and felt mostly seamless. Also, the environment graphics looked really good along with the models when they weren't actively moving.

Overall, I would only recommend this game to those that are interested in playing the worst of the worst. This game will be on top 10 worst games lists for years to come.

I have to admit, from a technical standpoint I was really impressed with this game. The transition from the video to gameplay was mostly seamless and the ingame graphics insanely good.

So much for the positives aspects, the combat itself is mediocre. The acting mostly really bad and there is barely any gameplay in the 3 hours a playthrough takes. I really liked the concept of a deaf main character, but I'm certain they threw that gimmick in at the last minute to make you play through it again with sound after your silent playthrough.
The problem is, in the video sequences you can clearly see that the character can hear and talk. This entire thing would be better off to be a full length movie with the twist at the end. This entire thing is just a huge waste of potential with a really nice presentation.
Even though I got this game for free I still want my money back. We get it the main character is deaf but we aren't can we get audio? The main issue with why this game is so horrible is the fighting! Horrible controls, lack of different attacks, and horrible camera angles that you can't move. This game should have been better based on it's from Square Enix or at least free because I feel bad for the people who paid money for this game. I gave it a shot, the hours played is wrong I got up to chapter 4 but I was playing offline so it didn't track that time.

The Quiet Man - Single Player / Single Game Review (Opinionated)

The story was hard to follow throughout the game due to the lack of audio; however, great Quentin Tarantino feel at the end when the basic story line is laid out. This game is for those that love a cinematographic vibe and enjoy watching the story unfold. On the other hand alot of the story is missed when playing the first run through which requires the player (yourself) to play a second run through with the dialogue and subtitles being added. This I believe could have been fixed with a better approach on what the audience can hear and how the deaf character could portray to what has been said.

6/10

As mentioned above about the audio, it leaves much to be desired for so audio gets a 3/10 only because the story unfolds quite well at the end.

The graphics however, are great with minor issues with what appears to be layering in some scenes. Most of the game you see only where the camera allows you to see which does cause abit of frustration with combat but you can work around that... kind of. Video gets a 6/10

4/10

The gameplay was difficult to begin with no real direction of how to use the controls you have and takes about an hour to work out what you can and cant do. The battles are harder if you dont work the controls out prior to going against a boss or hard enemy with a bat or machete, so be sure to experiment with them. And again as discussed above, the camera angles are quite frustrating in situations with multiple foes.

Once you work the controls out, the game gets quite easy on the easy difficulty which allows the player to enjoy what story the first play through offers but streamlines the second play through for a better understanding of the story.

4/10

Achievement Hunters - Pretty straight forward achievements, the only one to have difficulty with is the not get hit achievement. A great trophy to bang your head against the wall... though you know what they say 'persistence equals success'.

8/10

OVERALL an interesting concept in a cinematographic game, did they pull it off.... I believe they have to an extent. Probably not a game I would replay after completing but interesting the first time.

22/40 - Playable. Mostly for a player looking for a story.

The idea of the game was nice at the start, after 20 mins it gets annoying with the muted cut scenes, and repetitive gameplay, got it for 8$ still not worth it.

You know, ever since this was revealed at E3, I was excited about this game. I really was. Then I sorta forgot about it. Fast forward to today, when I noticed that the game finally came out. Me, having time and $15 on hand, decided to give it a go. 4 hours or so later, after I beat the game, I felt like I wasted my time and money, and felt an immense amount of disappointment.

The first issue I noticed was the 39GB file size, which I at first shrugged off because of the nature of the game itself, being an FMV-filled game. Then I actually opened up the game, and faced myself with an extremely barebones graphics options menu, with only general quality settings (low, medium, high, and ultra), and resolution. With a generic looking menu to top it all off. I, again, shrugged it off because I figured there wasn't much to configure, and also figured that this was a console game at heart, hence the barebones PC specific menus. I’m going to get back to the graphics thing a little later.

Then I started the game, and found the intro cutscene to be fairly high-quality, so I forgot about the issues. Then I got into the first fight scene. I had absolutely zero idea what to do, since the game didn’t give me a tutorial besides a slightly cryptic thing in the pause menu.

Then the game shut off the audio completely in the cutscenes besides some weird sounds. I had zero idea what any of the characters were trying to convey, even though their lips were moving and there was some sign language (which I barely understand). Look, I know the whole point of this game is that you’re a deaf guy or something, but please clue us in somewhat as to what’s going on, at least.

So I slogged through the game more, beating up the same exact stereotypical Hispanic thugs and businessmen from scene to scene, watching the long-ass cutscenes, look at some girl staring at me every time I died, and figuring out how to beat the bosses when I got to the final chapter. It all went downhill from there.

The game started to drop frames down to like 30fps at times. Even though I’m using an GTX 1050 4GB-equipped gaming laptop, surely it’s enough to run the game parts at a locked 60fps, right? Wrong. At ultra, I couldn't run it at 60, naturally, at high, I could, but the end parts dropped to like 30fps, medium was the same but at around 45-50fps, and at low, it was fine, but it made the game look more ugly than it already did. If there was more graphic options than just general quality level and resolution, this wouldn’t be an issue at all, as I can just tweak whatever I don’t need.

Then I got to the final boss, and just laughed.
You have to fight your own dad from what I can tell, because the game doesn’t have much in the way of twists, I guess.
Then, after that, I listened to the (admittedly nice) ending theme, and quit the game. I contemplated about what the actual fuck I just played for five minutes, and decided to write this review.

The cherry on top of the entire shitfest, however, is the fact that it’s riddled with Denuvo DRM for no good reason besides to treat paying customers like criminals, because you’re not missing much if you watch a playthrough of the game for free, and the game is $15 usually. And for a game that's $15, why even go through the effort of putting DRM on it? They said something about an update that will explain more stuff by enabling the sound in the cutscenes, but I highly doubt they’re gonna fix much beyond just that, and I don’t think I’ll gain enough energy to go through the game again.

Overall, I think I played the worst game of 2018, and while that’s quite a bold statement, I have plenty of reason to give it that title. Shame on you, Square-Enix and Human Head Studios, I thought you guys were better than this. And lastly, I couldn't find the wallpapers I was promised. Grr.

Edit: I just played through the first chapter or two with the sound update, and all I have to say is: why did the game have to go with the no sound thing in the first place? With that being said, I would have excused the game parts somewhat if there was sound in the cutscenes in the first playthrough. However, I still don't recommend the game due to the fact that you have to play through the game once to even get sound in the cutscenes. Still no wallpapers either. Double grr.

And lastly, to everyone who thinks a GTX 1050 (the 4GB VRAM version especially) isn't that strong enough in general, shut the fuck up. Really. GTAV, MGSV, and Yakuza 0 run with most, if not every setting at very high and/or max at 1080p/60 on this card for me and not only run better, but look way better than this pile of garbage. There is no excuse on why a very simplistic beat-em-up like this should be dropping frames. It's not like I'm trying to run the game at 4K, either. And it could clearly run this at 1080p/60 had some of the lighting effects been toned down, which I can't even do, as again, it's only general quality level and resolution I can set.

I feel like such a jerk, I hate to leave a negative review, I'm usually the sort of person that If i don't enjoy a product I simply don't give it any review at all. This game is so underwhelming. I mean its nice to include a game where the main character is deaf, as far as I'm aware that's pretty unique. But experiencing an FMV where nearly all the spoken dialogue is muted to the player is pretty lacklustre. Sorry to the devs but this experiment simply didn't work. The only positive is that the actual movie sequences are of very high quality.
