Eine Seefahrt, die ist lustig!

Um mal ein anderes Review hier zu zitieren:

Gameplay
“The Ship” erinnert an das gängige Prinzip von “Trouble in Terrorist Town” aus Garry`s Mod. Allerdings müssen hier nicht ein 1-2 Verräter den Rest der Gruppe erledigen, sondern jeder Spieler hat das Ziel, einen anderen Spieler gezielt auszuschalten. Nein, wir reden hier nicht über stumpfes PVP. Denn man muss sein Opfer auf dem großen Schiff überhaupt erst einmal identifizieren, dann finden und sich irgendwie auch einfallen lassen, wie man sein Gegenüber umbringt. Dazu weiß natürlich niemand, welcher Spieler jetzt wen umbringen muss. Das Chaos ist also perfekt…Nebenbei muss der eigene Charakter auch noch essen, trinken und schlafen, womit er sich angreifbar macht. Die Runden selbst sind kurz, aber Bedürfnisse und Spielerinventar bleiben, wenn man nicht stirbt, für die nächste Runde erhalten.

Story/Community
Stell dir vor, die Titanic ist in Wirklichkeit gar nicht gesunken. Stattdessen wollte man nur vertuschen, dass eine Überzahl der Gäste in Realität eigentlich Auftragskiller waren. Jetzt rechne den Eisberg wieder heraus und du erhältst “The Ship”!
Die Community ist vor allem Eines: Nicht wirklich vorhanden. Das Spiel ist eben schon älter und obwohl es noch dedicated Server gibt, sind diese nicht mehr wirklich besucht.

Grafik/Sound
Die Grafik erinnert dann doch wieder eher an “Trouble in Terrorist Town”. “The Ship” ist schon etwas älter und das merkt man nicht nur der Technik, sondern gerade auch der Grafik an. Grundsätzlich wirkt die Grafik ansonsten eher bunt und der lebensbejahende Stil passt wohl nicht ganz zu den düsteren Herzen seiner Passagiere.

Fazit
„The Ship“ ist ein sehr interessantes Konzept und hat sich eine Zeitlang einer gewissen Beliebtheit erfreut. Leider gibt es ein paar Probleme mit der Technik und das Spiel ist auch nicht mehr wirklich Zeitgemäß. Das große Problem ist auch, dass der Hauptserver nicht mehr existent ist. Aber dafür gibt es ja das Remaster, dass viele technischen Probleme beseitigt. Daher rate von dieser Version ab und empfehle stattdessen klar die neuere Version, auch wenn diese ebenfalls unter einer kleinen Spielerzahl leidet.

Eine schöne Idee, aber du suchst dann doch eher was Anderes? Dann schau doch mal in meine Steamgruppe, wo ich meine Reviews als Kurator verfasse.

This game is very good for Single player Now but if you're looking to play with online players don't be bothered for People who want to play Single player.
Thumbs up for those who don't and want to play online Dislike.
The reason I put thumbs up is because I want to play single player :)

A multiplayer shooter with a very unusual idea: the action takes place on a ship - a cruise liner, each of whose passengers becomes both a hunter and a victim. In other words, each player is given the name of one other player to kill. It turns out that you know what your victim looks like, but you do not know which of the other players is hunting you. Then the hide-and-seek game begins, because the ship is full of NPCs, including policemen, and if one of them sees you rushing with an ax after the found victim, you will be imprisoned for a minute in the ship's prison and a fine.
A very non-standard action game where you need to not only shoot, but also think.

This game used to be quite fun back in the day.
It's sort of a murder mystery mixed with action.
One of the key elements is the 'stealth' of it all.
The Ship used to be a truly perfect party game.
Playing it with friends, or family, that was dope.
Sadly: The servers are no longer available here.
I don't even know, why they still sell this game.
Paying 9,99€ for basically a dead game is bad.
At this point, there's just no reason to buy this.
You can't play it online, so it's kind of pointless.
Sure, there is a singleplayer mode of sorts, yea.
But: that just honestly isn't nearly as enjoyable.
The Ship was always meant to be a multiplayer.
And so in my opinion: It isn't worth purchasing.
I think this should 'receive' my negative review.
That multiplayer was the main positive of it all.
Without it, the game just isn't worth anything.
That's my honest opinion about this situation.

Despite its age and near impossible ability to play online now, i still find myself having a quick game of the ship from time to time, the use of bots means you can still play this game and it is enjoyable, just make sure to use large numbers of npcs but beware too many and they all hurdle into one room and get stuck.

Interesting concept, maybe the OG of the hidden killer multiplayer games, but the servers are dead. There is someone in the discussions holding down a private server, but if you're looking to jump into a game right away, you are out of luck. A multiplayer game without people is a thumbs down. An updated revival could be something.

Interesting concept, but the servers are down and short of tinkering with console commands and IP addresses, the only thing left to do is the Arcade Mode with dumb bots that are as subtle as a bull in a china shop. Unless you are going to host your own game to play with friends, I would say that The Ship is not worth buying anymore.

Forward note! The most fun from this game was about playing it online, versus other alive players. But it's a very old game, released in 2006, and the servers are dead at moment. Usually, it's enough for a downvote, but in this case... I can't. It is still playable, in a way... with bots. Or you can try and make a server on your own.

If you haven't heard about The Ship previously, well... it's somehow on the same plate as Among Us. You can be a Hunter or a Hunted... The trick is, even if you choose to be a killer, there's always somebody else looking for you as well. The premise sounds like it's a Battle Royale, where all passengers on the ship are bound to kill each other. But it's not.

First of all, everyone needs to behave. If you'll get caught red-handed, like, drawing a weapon, or, even worse, committing homicide, you'll be jailed. And fined. You will also get an automatic fine if you kill the wrong person. And usually, you can't tell who's after you. Every passenger is acting suspiciously - they all are players (even if bots), they all are involved in the murderous game. But, who's Your Hunter? It's really hard to tell.

Now, add to that that you (and other players) can switch the costumes, to look different. Plus, there are survival bars for your character - dehydration, satiety, the need to talk to someone, to bath... There are 13 different ships (maps), and you need to explore them, to know where's everything. So many things to keep in mind, while you're on the short timer, and every person you meet could be a Hunter.

A rich premise. Can't really downvote it. Even while the bots are dumb. But so were most of my sessions in Among Us, with live players! The Ship is a cool game. Dated - yes, obviously. Main servers are closed - yes, indeed. But is the game dead now? I think not. It is still an 8/10 mark game on my list.

Ridiculous Fun. Murder your friends on a boat while you play the sims. Must have friends to play with. Warning: This game and its sequel are dead, buggy as hell, and no longer being updated. It is still fun, but be warned.

The best game by Blazing Griffin there is.

This game on a Steam sale: something like 1$.

Getting banned for nothing on an only open server with players in this game: priceless.

Seriously though, this game still has some open servers by the community, and the best ones have votekick disabled for the reason mentioned above.

First Among Us style game and funny

No MP server when you start the game and you need to not start the game and click view and servers and in search you need to set it to the ship.

I found 1 server only with bots but it was fun for a few mins.

Even though I give it a thumbs up I dont recommend it.The player base is too dead.

Play Among Us or Project Winter over this.

Cool game, but 1: barely anyone, if anyone playing, and 2: after awhile I got virus alert popups over and over for some reason trying to run this, despite it being totally fine before

So I guess if you have friends and don't get warned about likely fake viruses then this is good

Too bad the game servers are down, this game is probably one of the funniest I have ever played with friends! I don't remember laughing so much on any other game. If you got (at least) 3-4 friends interested in playing to this game then it's totally worth buying.

Imagine an Agatha Christie novel, except nobody is clever and everyone is drunk and yelling and you managed to beat a man to death with an umbrella while Osama Bin Laden is shooting at you with a revolver for fun, even though he's after Bill Clinton, who in turn is wearing a dress.

That's the game.

Very fun hectic murder fest. Like being in an Agatha Christie tale but without the scheming. Nerdcubed shows it off pretty well on youtube if you want to get the feel of it before buying. I wish the online servers were still active.

Not only is this game dead, but its remastered edition is dead too. I beg for the devs to come out with a true sequel, but for now, barely anyone plays this, which is quite a shame.
