  • Soundtrack by Grammy Award Winner Harold Faltermeyer

FEATURES:

Also Bugs wie:

Two Worlds Epic Edition

Also vorher Speichern und gegebenenfalls öfters probieren.

Two Worlds Epic Edition
1st of 3rd RPG of 2009.

Published in Europe in May 2007 by Zuxxez Entertainment, in the US four months later by TopWare Interactive. The version available here is probably a translated US version. I've played all 3, so the following applies to all versions.

You slip into the role of a nameless young bounty hunter whose sister Kira was kidnapped by a villain named Reist. After months of searching in vain, you will be contacted by Reist Tungard. In the game there are several video sequences that give you the knowledge what it is actually about and what your actual goal is.
In this case, the liberation of Aziraal, god of war. This puts you in a power struggle between long-forgotten gods.
The world of Antaloor is huge, 60 km² in size, which is divided into 35 km² of the upper world and 25 km² of the underworld. There are five large cities and over 50 villages as well as numerous caves and other hidden places. The RPG idea shows itself clearly in that you really have to solve many different tasks and can develop your character further.

A tip for all those who like to chase after the main story. If you do that, I will only earn a fraction of what this very good game offers. And don't worry, you'll find your sister and free her too, she's trapped and won't run away from you. The game ends with the liberation.

Note: There is a bug in the game that has never been fixed. You should find the alpha wolf of a pack and make it harmless.
The place is above a rock, this rock is the problem because the wolf likes to retreat into this rock where you cannot reach it. So save beforehand and try more often if necessary. You have to drive it away from the rock, otherwise it stays in the rock and does not come out.

At the time a sensation in terms of landscape graphics and still better than many who are much newer, but it's just old.
TW focuses on upgrading weapons, shields and armor. The sheer amount of possibilities is a first in game history. Therefore, you should think carefully about what, when and which parts you upgrade. The difficulty here is that even weaker parts can be a better choice because they can be upgraded further than the strong ones. Having the right equipment is crucial in this game.

A really good RPG with a lot of action, a flawless recommendation.

Absolutely solid oldschool RPG featuring nearly every mechanic and gimmick that a fantasy setting requires. The world is huge, beautiful and got a lot of things to discover, including various bioms, cities, factions/races, bandit camps etc. Gothic 3 is a worthy comparison in that aspect. The Lore is pretty immersive, RealityPump created something very own here. Main and Side Quests are okayish, some are excellent, others are boring, most offer choices with consequences. The Main Quests leads the player into nearly every corner of the world which connects you to various side quests and so on...
The typical Two Worlds Engine is as genius as in the second game, easily understandable but still complex enough to create one of the best Character Progression Systems ever (TW2->TW1 but still top tier). There are nearly zero tutorials or tips thus its about the player himself to learn how the game is working. Really Really enjoying this game as an oldschool RPG Fanboy. Although be careful before buying TWEE; Animations are being displayed in a very low FPS rate which can not be improved nor fixed which CAN be hurting to watch and/or cause sickness.

honestly i enjoyed this game when i was younger and i still do to this day. if you can look past the graphics and voice acting, the worldbuilding and quests are pretty good. yeah, it has its problems, but overall its charming and entertaining in its own way. 10/10.

Two Worlds : Epic Edition may have been a ambitious project and was advertised to be an Oblivion killer (TES:IV). Though the game wasn't really great, it still had charm for someone with low expectations in general like me. Speaking from just my 12 hours. The gameplay isn't bad, but not great either. There is one major game breaking bug that makes the town hostile towards you forever where you meet the one dude in that tells you about your captured sister. Besides that, there is a lot of running around in areas of the map that just feels barren and feels like there should've been more to an area that looks interesting. The game has ragdoll physics if you're into that. It has a respawn system where you teleport to the nearest stone thingy that can be easily exploited when fighting much more tougher mobs. There's this one spell that basically turns anything into a friendly and I admit that when starting out the game, it was brutal. The difficulty was too hard for me and to have fun, I had to use cheat codes to get most of my hours in. While I was playing the game in cheat mode, I actually had fun. Sure there was excessive amounts of running biome to biome, the one charm this game has aside from the difficulty was my curiosity to explore and see if its a place of interest for me as a treasure hunter. Would I recommend this game? Honestly, no, but if you're looking to just play anything, go for it. The game in itself was pretty entertaining when after several hours when things are starting to feel like progress, or you begin by finding better shinies. Anyone can find a game fun in their own terms of how to achieve that fun. Lastly, I couldn't finish the story because of that one major bug I mentioned. I didn't feel like starting over, but most of my gameplay was mainly from exploring and doing side quests.

This game is about as broken as it was on the xbox 360, but still a good trip. Glitch at the end though, killed the last boss and the game takes you straight to the main menu... slightly annoying but at least you don't have to deal with the credits.

I remember when i played this game the first time around the time it came out. I had posters from the game and was using them as wallpapers on my monitor and was imagining all the adventures i could have.

The first time i played this game i didn't even talk with the bad guy that was waiting for me after the tutorial area. I went around the map and killed what i saw and upgraded my armor/weapons. This game had a really weird but interesting upgrade system, if you had items of the same type and name you could combine them to raise the stats on the item. After some hours i came back to the starting area then pretty much dominated the antagonist. Figure me surprised when the game went straight to credits after i killed him without doing a single quest.

I like this but the passing of years have not been kind on it. It's fun to remember the good old times but i wouldn't recommend it to newcomers.

Had bought this game as part of a Two World's 1 and 2 discounted package several years back... Played TW2, but never finished it... Started playing the first a couple weeks ago and realized how underrated this game has been... Personally, I enjoy this game way better than the sequel... If you love the Elder Scrolls games then you need to give this one a go... Yeah, the voice acting is sometimes a bit cheesy and the graphics are dated; but the gameplay and complex storyline of this overlooked classic are the real stars of this overlooked gem...

People dump all over this game, but it's worth a play if you go into it with the right mindset. It's like watching a beloved bad movie. It's Sharktopus. It's The Room. It's Birdemic. Two Worlds: Epic Edition has all the charm of a game made with genuinely good intent, but not executed as well as the developers had hoped. Is that a bad thing?

NO!

All the glitches, cheesy voice acting, and wonky combat make Two Worlds: Epic Edition the lovable game it is. Don't expect a polished experience. Expect a game that will make you laugh and roll your eyes as you slice through hordes of wolves, chase down archers, and completely neutralize every single enemy with simple bear traps.

Buy it and don't let it collect dust in your library.

I love this game I began playing it on the Xbox and now I have started on the PC. This is not for everyone I love that this is what reals are games are for me. So many paths, playing options, quest and actions make a difference. The story line is amazing graphics are good. This is not a game that you just beat in no time and I love that there are extras in the package. I wish there were more games like these out there. it is not always about much time you sink in to making graphics so real that is what they world you love in is for.

What can I say, this game gets so much hate for it's campy dialogue and out of touch comedy. But it couldn't be farther from the truth about what makes this game so amazing, set aside the fact that there still isn't an RPG with 500+ armor sets and variations of weapons, at the time, for us westerners, you had 2 choices: Oblivion ~ Two Worlds, and while I can easily say they were both great games for there times, Two Worlds had Internet & LAN multiplayer.. and if I have to explain why a couch co-op, funny speech RPG is fun to play with an IRL friend, then there truly isn't any hope for Antaloor.

Long Live GANDOHAR!

A true Sandbox Classic, the way it was meant to be done, Many have not followed this theme, the only company that comes close to this kind of open world sand box game is Obsidian. Truly a feat for a company that should still be around. If you have not played this yet, I suggest you at least try it, and for 5 bucks you cant go wrong, the online servers are still active. The graphics are not that good, but its to be expected from an early xbox 360 game/pc game.

Overall great fantasy RPG with great mechanics. Combat is fun and rewarding. Leveling system makes sense and really allows you to build your character into any class you want. The writing and plot leave a lot to be desired and a lot of the voice acting is really bad, but i think that gives some charm to the game. All in all really fun.

Truly nostalgic, impressive gameplay mechanics for its time, funny cross-eyed character models... Many refer to it as The Poor Man's Oblivion, but as someone who owns and cherishes both, I can honestly hold the two at equal value. A great must-play for RPG-lovers everywhere. If the story doesn't interest you, there's always game-breaking console commands ;)

Two Worlds tries, and it live up to it's name as there's something Epic about this Edition - Epic Failure. I personally would not play the game even on the day of it's release and I'm a huge junkie for all RPG and MMORPGs since 90's.

PROs

+ Action Combat System - the attack works in the direction of where your camera is facing instead of where the character is facing; which can't be said about much old (and even few new) titles.
+ Steam Game Cards and Steam Badges are very nicely designed.
+ It give away a CD-Key that you're suppose to use to register game, but game never ask you to do it, ...so you get a free CD-Key for it ?

CONs

- Bloom. Bloom everywhere. Even when turned off.
- Graphic. Squares and low textures rule this fantasy world.
- Clunky combat. The attacks, even though there's some variety to them are simply without impact and often does not match the equipped weapon (for ex. 1h sword and 1h axe have same animation, so you're basically hitting with the blunt side of your axe)
- Very poor spell animations.
- Questline is broken AF. First and second quest give you same dialogue and dialogue options.
- A lot of technical issues (probably does not like modern OS).

SUM

Stay away. Get only if you're prepared to suffer through for a Steam Cards, but you might consider buying them all for cost of the game and save yourself some bandwidth.

All of the ambition, bugs, and clunkiness of classic Eurojank. None of the buyer's remorse.

Two Worlds is a laughably bad action RPG whose mediocrity belies a certain B-movie kind of cool. There are far better worlds to explore. (TES IV: Oblivion was released earlier the same year.) However, on the cheap--or better yet: free--TW is worth playing--even if only to make you appreciate just how spoiled we are as gamers.

Nay, we have it too good, forsooth!

A game that is already a few years old, where the player has a LARGE open-world to explore, having several factions at his disposal to help them where in the end he can choose a side.

I did explored the map in detail so I did not have much difficulty in progressing the character throughout the game, however the player will encounter several trainers (melee, ranger and magic) where he can acquire new skills for a price. The gameplay of the game, in my opinion is good, where the player can upgrade the gear without having to always go to the city to the seller looking for new gear.

The game’s story is a little cliché for this times now, but it is still interesting. However, voice acting is not the best, but the downside in this game is undoubtedly the lack of cutscenes in the game, I don’t know if it’s from this edition or not, but the cutscenes don’t exist at all in the game, for example after the player defeating the last enemies the game immediately goes to the main menu of the game like that, which leaves the player like WTF?! And because of that, I cannot recommend this game.

“Terrific!” I said, and meant it for a change.
~Robert Lynn Asprin

Ah, role-playing games from Germany... You know how it is about them. Most of the time, those are extremely ambitious, extremely clunky and, well, extremely buggy. And, well, this one is not an exception. Somewhat big open world, seven factions, two endings, multiplayer... And you know what? I can't say I even hated this one that much. Just because... I kinda like this kind of stuff. Kinda. Can't say I love such games, but you know... I totally don't mind one or two of those clunky ARPGs from time to time. I mean, why freakin' not, right? Heck, I even finished games like Dragon Riders: Chronicles of Pern and Darkened Skye. So, yeah... I'm not afraid of clunky gameplay. I laugh in its face! I have finished Falling Stars! On a bloody PS2! I've reached the enlightenment! OK, OK, I'm shutting up now. Anyway, you've got the idea. I can totally deal with clunky stuff.

Unfortunately... I still can't recommend Two Worlds. But not because it's completely unplayable. Long story short, what we have here is a mix between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Gothic and Sacred. There's literally nothing else to say. Two Worlds looks like Oblivion (up to the point where some parts of this game look like a cheap Oblivion rip-off), it comes with Gothic-like core mechanics and, well, there are vast empty spaces and horses from Sacred. That's pretty much it. With multiplayer feeling more like a bunch of activities than the real deal. I mean, it felt... back when it was a thing. But I'll return to it a bit later. One way or another, if you don't mind clunky German RPG with tons of stolen design (armor and Imperial City from Oblivion, mages and their towers from Gothic, skeleton horses from Sacred, it's all here, just because Reality Pump are that lame)? I'd say, this game is somewhat playable. With one huge “but”. See, this game? It's f*ckin' broken.

Believe it or not, but even though in its current form the game is called “Epic Edition”, it's more like an epic failure. I mean... seriously. How many games you can recall, in which the first thing you'll need to do is to manually edit your Windows registry? Well, that's how things work here. Go to the Steam store page, see the promise of “partial gamepad support”, launch the game, notice how there's no gamepad option whatsoever and... well, press Win+R to launch RegEdit. Why did updated version of the game that comes with pretty fair gamepad support that even offers the rumble, needs you to manually enable it through RegEdit? I don't freakin' know. And guess what? Things here will only get worse. The game will often crash for many different reasons (bugged EAX, bugged PhysX, bugged autosave feature, etc, etc, etc), the cutscenes won't play with no obvious reason whatsoever (in my case after I've beaten the final boss, the game just returned to the title screen), multiplayer is long dead... what... the f*ck is going on here?!

So... yeah. You liked things like Divinity II: Ego Draconis (not to be confused with the Original Sin) and don't mind something way less creative (way less) and way more cheesy (the entire story in this game is just a random guy saving his sister from baddies and man, the acting here is almost as cheesy as in Uwe Boll's movies, almost)? Technically, there's a chance for you to enjoy Two Worlds. If, of course, you'll be able to make it work. And that's, my friends, are a very big “if”. And you know what? The experience this game offers? It just doesn't worth it. Dixi.

Green forests, snow-capped mountains, arid deserts, islands, scorched plains or bamboo jungles... this is the world of Antaloor, which is still recovering from a bloody war 300 years ago. Aziraal, the god of war, then walked the world and with it the suffering and hordes of furious orcs. A combined alliance of elves, dwarves, and humans defeated him and imprisoned him in a magical prison, but the land remained marked by this long struggle.

There are about three hundred side quests outside the main line.
You get involved in political machinations, cleaning caves of monsters, catching thieves, helping one brother get his brother's wife, and much more.
There are several factions in the game - the Association of Mages, the Brotherhood, the Guild of Merchants, the Giriz Followers, the Necromancers and two clans fighting for power in the north - Skelden and Karga.
During your expeditions you will be uncomfortable with a life full of enemies.. apart from humans and dwarves, they will be forest beasts, orcs, sea people, overgrown mantises, various undead, infernal units and demons and other similar vermin. You will also meet several species of dragons.

An unforgettable moment that quite annoyed me, when I just calmly stole inside the house and even though no one could see me through the closed door, the whole village fell on me that morning.. sometimes the inhabitants fell on me even when I was in them he just accidentally ran a horse.
In the final stages of the game and at a high level, I had to take revenge for this and kill literally the entire human population (feelings), but that's just my curious journey through this brilliant game.
The only thing I miss in this game are the achievements. 95%

Pretty cool open world RPG. Quite a wide variety of weapons and armor to find and buy throughout the game and you can even combine duplicates of the same items to make more powerful versions of the same items which is pretty damn cool and not something I've really seen in other RPGs, there's no durability so you never even have to worry about items really.

The game world is pretty big and there's quite a lot of things to find like caves and dungeons and there's quite a lot of side quests and all sorts. The graphics are decent although the grass pop-ins are annoying and the game freezes a lot when its trying to load more of the game world and it also freezes for a second when autosaving which is a bit annoying.

One big issue with the game is the animations, they're not exactly that bad for the most part but a lot of animations you can skip through and some animations just look weird like really floaty and stuff, makes the game feel cheap so that's unfortunate.

There were a couple other little problems like the game crashed a couple times and another big thing was at one point I messed up and everyone in a town died but the game didn't really acknowledge it because there was still an active quest there and even though everyone was dead you can come back and do a quest later as a random npc spawns for it which was dumb but oh well. Also for some reason the cutscenes didn't play which sucked.

The story is not too bad but the voice acting in this game is pretty terrible and aside from the main character's funny one liners there's not really much good about it.

The difficulty of the game is not bad, to start with it seems hard at first but once you get some better gear and learn that you can dodge it becomes pretty easy pretty quick, atleast if you're doing melee combat like I was doing, you can also do long range with bows or you can be a magic caster, there's quite a lot of spells in the game which to unlock you have to collect cards, usually from chests or fallen enemies, you can stack cards to make the spells more powerful and you can also find 'booster' cards which increase the stats of the spell you apply them to so that's pretty neat.

The game also has an alchemy system, you can find various ingredients throughout the game to make all sorts of potions, the only issue being you don't really know what you'll make until you just start mixing stuff, its a lot of experimentation but if you can find some good ingredients and slap them together you can make some good stuff like potions that permanently increase stats which is quite useful.

The game overall is pretty damn good although the combat is simple its just fun to run around killing and looting enemies. Unfortunately towards the end the game starts to feel like a bit of a chore since there doesn't seem to be any unique weapons in the game so towards the end you're just trying to find duplicates of items you already have and you've pretty much seen everything so aside from killing enemies for xp or such there's not really any reason to go around looting dungeons or anything. Overall though its a pretty fun RPG and you could probably get a good 100 hours out of it if you really wanted to. 7/10

I shouldn't like this game. Everything is bad. EVERYTHING. From the soul destroying dialogue recorded in a construction site Port-A-John to the eye bleeding lighting....buuut something about slapping together the identical weapons and armor has carried me through 3 playthroughs. Two on the 360.

It ran well until the end, I had to watch the ending cut scenes on YouTube. After beating the boss it would boot me to the loading screen. Alt-tab out of fullscreen would crash the game 50 percent of the time.

10/10 fun bad. Pray tell, verily purchase on sale.

Two Worlds... Where to begin? Do I recommend it? Yes, but only if you're willing to put up with a few things!

So originally I had this game on Xbox 360. I never played it properly for the story, I just kinda ran around, killed people and got weapons which is perfectly fine!
It wasn't until I picked it up again on Steam that I wanted to give it a proper go. I decided to follow the campaign and also complete quests whenever I got them and I have to say I had a lot of fun doing so!
Despite its flaws, Two Worlds is a relatively immersive game. It's not as in-depth as many other fantasy RPGs with their multi-skill levelling and a plethora of crafting to be had. That being said, it lends itself to its own beauty. It's not an amazingly flashy game and there are quite a few bugs. But there's something about this game that I absolutely love.
It might be the painfully awful voice acting that has this quirk to it that I enjoy, or it might just be the simplicity of a game that doesn't require you to grind at one particular school of combat or magic to be good at.
Everything is quite easily accessible, and if following the quests, you can pick up a lot of useful skills and also XP to level faster!
It is completely open world and the map is quite large. It has quite a few different environments, enough to fill your desire for fantasy.

Why I like it:
1. It's an easy going game
2. It's well embedded in the fantasy genre
3. The combat is satisfying albeit a bit janky at times, but it's what I call reactive & live combat (swing each time you press)
4. There are different combat styles and magic to unlock and experiment with
5. Alchemy is completely open and you can create a potion out of any natural ingredient
6. The world is nicely designed and interesting
7. There is fast travel but it's restricted to specific portals you've unlocked
8. It has a nice equipment levelling feature (combine 2 of the same item to level it up)

The flaws I mentioned before are as follows:
1. Dialogue doesn't seem natural at all
2. Quite a few bugs with quests - sometimes they don't complete or complete automatically
3. The ending is very disappointing
4. It's not a massively immersive story (probably due to its length & voice acting)
5. There's not an awful lot to do aside from quests and combat
6. There's no controller support - I had to use a plugin (preferred controller as I started on Xbox)

These I imagine are quite representative of the game's age. But I think it's aged well for the game that it is. I would return to play it again. The only thing holding me back from doing so is the ending:
SPOILER:
-
-
-
-
-
-
The ending basically stops the game completely and the only way to carry on playing is to load a previous save and not do the final quest. I find this quite irritating especially if you want to do side quests or have a sense of 'full completion'. It just seems a bit strange to abruptly end the game completely.

If you enjoy old school RPGs with simple hack and slash mechanics and magic, this game is definitely for you. There is a lot of freedom to build your character however you want. Want to run around in wizard robes with a two hander and summon spiders? Go for it. Want to shoot lightning bolts while using a bow and arrow naked on the back of a horse? You got it. Do what you want, how you want. The story seems rather difficult to follow and the controls can be somewhat clunky, but overall I'd say the game is really fun. I believe I bought it for $2 or $3 during a sale. If you can get it for a low price, don't mind watered down graphics, and sub-par voice acting, I highly recommend purchasing it and giving the game a chance. It's an interesting play through and I've really enjoyed it. Just don't expect to be getting GOTY gameplay or AAA title performance.

Very buggy, bad writing, horrible voice acting, extremely short main story (most of gameplay was sidequests. Main quest took 2-3 hours). Combat is very clunky and feels horrible. Most enemies are copy and pasted with larger health pools (theres only about 5 unique enemy types that are copied to every other enemy). The ending is an extreme letdown. All this fetch questing for a one minute cutscene (if it even loads) then booted back to the main menu. This game was not even good for its time. Dont waste your time or money.

I just hit the 24 hour mark after restarting a new character to play on medium, when this game initially released i played the Demo more times than i could count grinding a lightning 1 shot machete.

Now that i have gotten to experience it a little more thoroughly myself i can say its very enjoyable and i could easily spend 10$ on it (probably did) its age shows but i think what it is and was, could've been so much more if it were given the chance. TLDR: its relaxing and fills the dopamine need

I played this game back when it first came out on the xbox 360, and picked it up a while ago. Even though the voice acting is terrible, the character models awful, and the over all interface is very clunky; the game is really fun. Combat isnt as impressive either but the exploration aspect and the sights are really cool.

If you can look past its age, it will provide multiple hours of entertainment and if you are an RPG lover then this game is a must to cross of your list.

This is an old game that i have played across console and PC. Its a rich RPG that even after picking up the games years later I am still able to get full immersed in the land and lore. If you can get past the dated graphics in my opinion this is one of the best RPGs out there for its time on par with TES4 Oblivion.

Euro jank at it's finest. It's awkward but charming. Best worst script and voice acting I've ever encountered, verily forsooth!

Still totally playable in 2020, which is a surprise.

Story-Line: Not good.
Characters: Voice acting... really not good. At all.
World: Large open world, lots of quests and lots of different enemy types. Interesting enough I think.

Gameplay: Decent gameplay, some really neat mechanics. Just don't try riding the horses.
Difficulty: Moderate, the hardest difficulty is beatable but be prepared to be one-shoted by a lot of enemies.
Graphics: This game isn't special looking, however I will say it has super detailed textures which is really nice.

Replay-Ability: Not really, once and IF you beat it you probably won't want to play it again.
Overall: This game is niche, it isn't great but I would say it is still worth a try if you want a new adventure.

I enjoyed playing this game. It is older, it is not top notch AAA modern looking RPG but it is still good imho.

First 2 to 4 hours are slow. You are nothing and everything can kill you easily. Even a single wolf! I believe that most players stop playing during these first 4 hours. But when you overcome the beginning you propably will like the game if you like open world RPGs.

Pros:

+ The game world is huge and open. You can go wherever you want.
+ You can build your character freely. But there is some more stronger and weaker builds.
+ Many very good looking armors and weapons.
+ Music mix is very good.
+ Character progression and combination of armors and weapons to make them better is fantastic.
+ Incredible amount of stuff you can loot from your enemies.

Neutral:

+/- Quests and the main storyline is just mediocre.
+/- I liked the combat system but it can be clunky and I can imagine that many players are not going to like it.
+/- Magic looks amazing. Spells are good but not well balanced. Some are very weak, some are overpowered.
+/- I find the voice acting in some ways good and funny but the quality was sometimes bad. I know that many players have criticized the voice acting in the game but in my opinion it was not so bad. Compare it to the TES IV which is a game with much bigger budget and the voice acting in this game was made by only a couple actors (5 or so?). Remember, this is not a multimillion AAA game.

Cons:

- Weaker optimalization (I got some fps drops when many npcs where around)
- The end of the main story was rushed for sure.
- Cutscenes are very low quality.
- Horses! OMG, Riding was okish, but I kept loosing my horse. They kept dying or just disapearing. The function to call a horse has never been functional.

It is an older game which is in some ways similar to the Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. It looks like a cheaper version of that game. BUT I really liked the game and I can recommend it for everyone who likes that kind of games.

Got A LOT of nostalgia from playing this game! Used to play this back in the Xbox 360 days and absolutely LOVED it back then and I still do now!
The voice acting is laughable and the graphics aren't all that great BUT all of that doesn't matter because this is an extremely fun game to play! 10/10 I recommend!

This game is EPIC
Do you want to ride an ORC HORSE up a cliff and over dunes while duel wielding swords to slay a dragon? YOU GOT IT.
DO you want a shield that's made from the face of a dragon?
Do you want to play with swords that exist irl?
How does running around Sand dunes, to bamboo forests, to hell on earth itself back to snow drift filled mountain slopes to cursed tombs and dungeons to castle streets to war torn battlefields and back to beaches and islands through rivers and forests sound to you?
This game has it all and so much more its not even limited to swords and sorcery, there’s archery, sneak attacks with daggers, and more.
ALSO!
No Random Invisible walls.
Like as if that were some sort of huge bonus but hey these days it kinda is.
How does this sound:
You have the ability to kill everything and everyone in the game, you have real freedom to choose who lives and who dies in this game, someone ticks you off, dude you can kill em.
How about vendors having unlimited gold?
Or How about every house you can enter is filled with things to loot which are all filled with random leveled loot. You can enter a house and find straight up spells, plate mail, diamonds whatever.
Okay lets get real here for a second.
Without any training whatsoever, you can combine any item with another duplicate item to make a more powerful version of that item, rings, armor weapons its all able to be upgraded automatically with another compatible version of that item.
Alchemy, potions with permanent effects?! That you can make as many as you can find ingredients for?! How about the fact that you can add elemental damage to any weapon? And you can make these elemental damage adders with your brewing pot which by the way just exists inside your inventory at all times?!
Did I mention ghosts appear every night all over the map and you can kill them?
How about the fact that you can wear 4 rings at a time? Which can have insane effects.
How about the almost dozens of armors in the game how about the fact that this game is so indepth it has a RPG manual for irl play.
Lemme just break this down right quick.
This game has some of the most epic environmental animations out there, the player character model is gorgeous for its time and holds up to today and the combat, IS EPIC.
How does duel wielding two swords while casting spells to summon demons then golems then casting fireballs then running over to chop some enemies up sound? And all that without even breaking to open an inventory or switch what you’re holding in your hands this game is the best and I can’t wait for more from this franchise.

Look, this game is the definition of euro jank rpg. That is what makes it an amazing game. If you like games where you can abuse the hell out of the vanilla mechanics and become completely overpowered before the quarter point of the game, you will love this game. Ignore the story, abuse the mechanics and just enjoy it. Looks like my inlaws.

I had to hack off quite a lot off this one, but here's the full review text: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/tldreview/discussions/1/1743392486227469813/

I decided to give this game a whirl since I heard the sequel was even better, so may as well fill myself in on the story before diving into that one. I didn't really rush through the game except near the end, and I got about 20 hours out of it--but I also didn't do all of the sidequests either. This is also a game that famously was beaten in two and a half minutes.

You ever play any of the Elder Scrolls games? You might have an idea of what to expect. Otherwise, you adventure through a vast, sprawling countryside doing sidequests for experience and money, killing wild animals and bandits for the things they carry, and you can develop your hero in quite a few ways too. Sword and board? Two weapons? A big mace? Bow? Sneak attacks with daggers? Magic? A mix of several? You invest points into actively-used and passive skills, though with the exception of magic, higher skill levels only really impact success rate and/or potency.

For what it's worth, I started out with a focus on melee combat (due to having hardly any spells), then I went fully into magic, and by the end I went back to melee with a focus on magic buffing for defense. I capped Alchemy and put a lot of points in Lockpicking, but I never did anything with sneaking, swimming, horseback riding, and I didn't do anything with weapon skills until the end when it felt like melee outpaced magic.

Quests are the usual standard fare, go here and kill this guy, go deliver a message, do this, etc. I noticed that a lot of them were nested, like... I talked to someone who said that she had ownership of her late father's smithy, but she hadn't sent her father's will to the mayor to be officially recognized. I take the will to the mayor and he says he'll sign it, but he wants me to go get a potion from someone outside of town. I go there, and she wants me to clear an area of baddies. I do that, take the potion back, get the will signed, and then bring it back to the daughter. There aren't exactly guild quests like Mages Guild or Dark Brotherhood, but several factions have reputation systems and some of them have benefits like reducing the cost of wares in their stores. The quest tracker logs everything by town or general location, and it usually will pinpoint on the map where you have to go. Some quests have different outcomes depending on what you do, too.

What Worked For Me

You're not playing a mute for a change! The hero talks quite a lot, from making comments when he searches boxes or corpses, to actually conversing with NPCs. Not everything he says really seems necessary, but it was a nice change from having silent responses and having NPCs otherwise infodump on you and bam, quest. It's honestly a shame that the responses you pick are silent, though. I initially thought the hero's voice was awfully deep for the way he looked and kind of overdone, but it really grew on me. Even the clearly evil laughs when you cast spells were kind of charming in a way. Other NPC voices weren't bad too, but you're going to hear a lot of 'pray tell's, 'prithee's, 'verily's, and even a few 'forsooth's. Not a 'thou' in the house, thank God.

There's a stacking system in the game that I haven't seen in other games. If you come across an item and its model is the same as another item you have, you can actually combine them to make them very slightly stronger--and if they have effects like increasing strength or providing elemental protection, you can even combine those effects together! It seemed pretty complex and at some point, I had items simply stop wanting to combine, so there's probably a guide for how that all works. The stacking works even with the magic cards too, with additional same-copy cards increasing the effect and mana cost of the spell. There were diminishing returns after a point, of course.

I'm always a sucker for customizability, and apart from the fairly large number of skills and all, there's a lot of items. Shame that many of them fall off in power, but almost everything had its own unique model and stats, and there was even a set system where wearing items of the same set improved their stats a bit, though I never made use of it. I know I saw set items over 200 before, but I don't think there were quite that many. Still a pretty large amount, especially when comparing to its contemporaries.

And speaking of its contemporaries, the game was actually really stable. I had an in-gameplay crash once and I was alt-tabbed for a while, and the crashes I'd get loading saves all stopped happening when I turned off Steam Cloud, so is that anecdotal? A couple of the steps in the main quest didn't update because I apparently approached the items the wrong way, but a couple of reloads and moving around the area to trip whatever invisible flag did the trick.

What I Didn't Like

The game is extremely easy, but I say that having had experience in these games before. Death is an inconvenience at best since you just respawn at the nearest shrine (and can even warp to one you haven't been to before if it's close enough), though if you play on Difficult mode, you stay dead. Shrines are everywhere, so you won't lose much time if you bite it. Enemies weren't very interesting either and really only seemed to be threatening if they came at you in groups. Melee enemies would get up close, wait a moment, then telegraph their attack, so you could pound them a couple of times and then use your handy backdash to evade their attack. Ranged mooks would stand, aim for a few seconds, and then fire, and flee when you got close. Magic enemies did the same thing, but they only used the slow-moving basic elemental bolt. Everything in the game fit as one of these, and not a single enemy attacked from the air or moved faster than you.

The magic system is neat, but it's kind of limited too. You have three slots for spells and you can assign several spells to your hotbar, but you also save the specific slot number to the hotbar too, and boosters will auto-remove if the spell in that specific slot changes (as when you swap with the hotbar). If you find more copies of a spell you're using already, the extras aren't automatically added to your shortcut either, so you'd have to ready the relevant spell, open the magic menu, stack the additional card(s) on top of the current one, and then resave your shortcut.

There was also quite a bit of jank present. Go do a running jump. Your animation stands still before you leap but you keep moving. When you're stunned or blinded, you stand still and rub your eyes, even though you can actually move. You can also somehow pop up from being knocked down sometimes! You can even cancel some animations like casting spells or putting away your weapons, but I don't know if that's an intended feature or not. These are just some of the things that stick out due to how hard they are to miss.

Verdict

It ain't gonna kill an Elder Scrolls game, but the most damning thing I can say about it is that it just wasn't really interesting. It's probably my fault since I figured out what was effective and kept using my gamebreakers to great effect, but I'd put this under the same category of being a good first introduction to these kind of games like the first Fable, since it too was ridiculously easy once you figured it out. If you've played the 'real' games before, then there's probably nothing really here of interest except maybe the neat item stacking system, but I don't think that'd be worth the admission price. If not, then this isn't a bad introduction to the type of games these are. So, it's not a glowing recommendation but I kind of enjoyed it, and I guess there's something to return to if I ever feel like it.
