Achtung in dieser Review könnten Spoiler vorhanden sein, außerdem besteht sie aus meiner persönlichen Meinung!

Früher liebte ich die Worms Reihe, mögen tue ich sie immer noch. Allerdings muss man hier sagen das Alter tat diesem Spiel nichts gutes. Es ist spielbar definitiv! Es macht auch noch Spaß, aber diese Preis ist es einfach nicht mehr wert. Wenn es stark Reduziert ist oder in einem Bundle günstig erwerbbar, würde ich es kaufen, aber nicht zum hier angegebenen Preis da sollte man sich doch lieber eins der neueren Teile kaufen.

Worms ist ein Klassiker aus den 90er, der auch heute noch im Multiplayer spielbar ist. Es ist das perfekte Spiel für zwischendurch gegen Freunde.

Sieht heute zwar sehr sehr alt aus, aber das Spielprinzip ist immer noch toll. Was nehme ich um den generischen Wurm über die Klippe ins Wasser zu befördern Bazuka? Short Gun? Air Strike? Dynamit? oder doch nur den Stups? Hinweis: Macht nur mit Freunden an einem Rechner richtig Spaß, wenn man sich noch um die Tastatur streiten kann (einfach mal ausprobieren)

WORMS ist Kult!
Seitdem ich es das erste Mal gespielt habe, sind rund 20 Jahre vergangen. Und es schafft es nach wie vor mich zu begeistern! Einfach ein großartiges Spiel, am besten mit 1-3 zusätzlichen Spielern vor dem Monitor!

Ganz klare Empfehlung für alle Liebhaber der Worms Spiele, ganz besonders diejenigen die den Urvater der Reihe bisher verpasst haben (Schande ;) )

Old but Gold. Die Missionen sind teilweise echt schwer. Die Computer treffen sowieso immer ^^.
Trotzdem hat dieses Spiel mir eine menge Spaß bereitet. Man muss sich an dieses Spiel gewöhnen, denn es spielt sich selbstverständlich ganz anders als die heutigen Wormsteile.
Ein Muss für jeden Wormsliebhaber. :)

Worms der Klassiker schlecht hin - ich habe mich zurück versetzt gefühlt an eines meiner ersten PSX erlebnisse/Multyplaer mit Kumpels ^^ Worms dazu muss man nicht schreiben oder sagen dieses Spiel ist Zeitlos!

I hadn't played the original Worms until this past month and I don't know how I ever missed out on this classic original.

I think the first time I played a game from the Worms' franchise was around 2000 with Worms Armageddon on the Playstation 1. I've played a few of the others since then and I generally enjoy them, but this original - just simple fun. I'd say it is easily my favorite in the series just because of how simple it is. Easy and quick to jump into a game with some AI, play around for about 15 minutes and hop out. It is passive enough that you could sit through a chat with your folks back home and keep playing this like maybe you would a game of Minesweeper or Solitaire. Not...that I know anything about that...first hand.

Super worthwhile for the small purchase price. Just don't set your expectations up for anything with depth.

Simple.
Fun.
Cheap.

Worms may be older than the dirt it wriggled from but it holds up very well. It's very simplistic as old games tend to be but you still get those wacky results you've come to know and love. Definitely worth breaking out at a party or just have a go of it with whatever folks happen to be around at the time. :)

A classic. This is a mix of physics and strategy game. The graphics are prehistoric. No story at all.

No bugs or crashes. Runs fine on Win 7.

Overall, playing this is just taking a walk on memory lane. The graphics are old as dirt but charming. The one-liners are still funny as hell. It's surprising how much content it has considering the time it was released. I don't mind recommending it for those that are curious about how the whole thing started but you would be better playing more recent versions with better AI. This is an old toy that you can't break, vintage fun for everybody.

Worms is a classic! This is the original that focuses on gameplay more than graphics. It has some funny voices to use for the worms. This game really takes me back.

It's ok if you've played it before but for new players like me it's not recomended. You're better with a modern worms game.

As sad as I am to say this, I cannot recommend this purchase to anyone. Try to find a physical copy instead if you can, or buy it on GOG where it's currently 80% off.

I've owned WORMS United for as long as I can remember; it's older than I am. When the disk drive in my last computer literally blew the disk to smithereens, I made a new one, with a proper label, and the backup I used with DOSBox; I even printed a cover for it. When I saw it on Steam, I was ecstatic; I could finally buy a digital copy! It even had remote play together!

When I saw it ran with DOSBox, I was mildly disappointed; surely one of T17's most classic games could have had a little more work put into it - had the source code out and recompiled - but I'd bought it for the Remote Play Together; and so I tried it. So I pull a friend into a RPT session with me, and we discover that he can only interact with the terminal that launched the game.

A little searching and I find out this has been a problem since release, and no wrapper or update has been released to fix this - and no obvious community fix either. Overall a very disappointing release; I will be refunding it and continuing to play my original copy - which appears to be essentially identical to the steam release, just without the claim of having functional remote play.

Concise. Charming. Impressive. Worms.

The sprite art is really charming, reminds me of Lemmings but with more detailed backgrounds. The CGI in the FMV comedic bits are archaic as all hell and I love it, you can tell they were doing the best they could at the time. The weapon selection is much smaller compared to further entries, but there still are a lot of classics here, like the bazooka, ninja rope, blowtorch and so on.

All in all, it's still a damn good way to spend the evening with pals.

Didn't expect to see procedural generated maps in a game like this in '95!

I am so sorry to have to leave a negative review… This is such a classic and it used to be amazing, but unfortunately it is unplayable nowadays. The graphics are… antique and the resolution is just horrible. It is such a small screen.

While tabbing out of the screen and writing this review, I hear the wormies shout “Hellooo” and “heeeyy mister” because I am not playing. I am sorry guys… All this game needs are some graphic fixes (resolution) and it would be fine.

6€ for this is just too expensive. I recommend buying the newer Worms games.

25 years after its launch, I finally played this. I had Armageddon first (which I never ever EVER won a match with) and thought I would have the same luck with this one. I WON 2 MATCHES my first play through! Just for that, a thumbs up! Its fun stuff!

Probably the only actual worms game i enjoyed the most. It had rankings, they weren't going for cartoony. It was chalming in a brutal way. Id love to see anotehr worms game like this but with better graphics, that the cartoony versions. Ameggeddon was fine, but everything after never really felt as charming as the original.

This is a game from 1995 in a DOS emulator. There are newer much better Worms games now. You really shouldn't bother with this unless you're looking for a DOS game experience. Also maybe this is common to all DOS games, IDK, but if you minimize the game it will be stuck in 640x400 window mode afterwards. If you want to play Worms, you'd probably be better off just getting Worms Reloaded or something.

This game is a big part of my childhood.
It's exactly like the original but one thing which makes it unplayable for me.
WHY did you change the voices?
That's like the only reason to play it is the worms' voices.

Fun time, fun times. Highly recommended as a game but it's a nightmare to get working on modern machinery. I'd kind of expect steam to at least address that issue before making it available for purchase. It's pritty hit and miss, so if you get it, I'd recommend using your refund window wisely. For that reason I'd not recommend.

Controls respond slow, minimizing the game causes it to be stuck in a little box. The way to continue where you left off requires remembering a stupid password (though you can always look that up I suppose). And the timer for turns is really really annoying, disabling it in the settings does not seem to have any effect.

There are so many versions of Worms out there but the original is the one with---
*Less cartoony graphics - pixel art here instead of smooth cartoons.
*Fewer items - you have a good selection of weapons, but the most exotic items are the exploding sheep and banana bomb - no Holy Hand Grenade, Carpet Bomb or jet pack in this version.
*Less polish - sound effects are fuzzy and the menus are a bit unwieldy.
*Worse AI - computer characters never use ropes, spam the teleport awkwardly, get stuck behind cover and never ever miss with ranged weapons.

But--

Some (me) would say that the original game is superior to 'Worms 2' and every edition since then, most of which are esentially inferior clones or inconsequential tweaks to the sequel. The original is special. Its dated look and feel have aged respectably rather than stagnated (the bright coloured candy canes and bug eyes of Worms 2 look a bit naff today wheras the detailed, carefully-drawn objects here still look wonderful - see the Satan statues straight out of Shadow of the Beast).
The smaller selection of weapons make the game more strategic and engaging, allowing it to retain an element of skill and a rising tension. And this version alone retains a great sense of fun and exploration that the many rehashes seem to replace with cynicism.

Only in the original 'Worms' will you find a huge collection of gorgeous, hand-drawn custom stages that smash into pixels when you play on them, or a lovely, extremely 90's full-length re-mix of the theme tune hidden in the options menus. And only here will your worms shout 'suck on this' in a silly voice before shooting a pair of 'wanted criminals' named Robson and Jerome in the face with an uzi. With their last ounce of strength. On the Statue of Liberty. With a worm's face on it. This version has heart!
