ERHEBE DICH WIE EIN DRACHE
Ichiban Kasuga war bei den Yakuza in Tokio nur ein niedriger Fußsoldat. Nun soll er 18 Jahre seines Lebens im Gefängnis für ein Verbrechen schmoren, das er nicht begangen hat. Tapfer sitzt er seine Zeit im Knast ab und wartet auf den Moment seiner Freilassung, doch dann muss er erfahren, dass draußen niemand auf ihn wartet und sein Clan von dem Mann ausgelöscht wurde, den er am meisten respektierte.

Ichiban zieht los, um die Wahrheit hinter dem Verrat an seiner Familie zu enthüllen und sein Leben zurückzugewinnen. Dabei versammelt er eine zusammengewürfelte Truppe von Ausgestoßenen um sich: Adachi, einen abtrünnigen Polizisten, Nanba, einen obdachlosen Ex-Pfleger und Saeko, eine Hostess mit einer Mission. Zusammen geraten sie in einen Konflikt, der sich unter der Oberfläche von Yokohama zusammenbraut, und müssen zu Helden werden, die sie nie zu werden erwartet hätten.

Atmosphärisches Gangsterepos mit vielen denkwürdigen Momenten, großem Minispiel-Park und über 50 Nebengeschichten.
Eine ungemein ergreifende Story, mit filmreifen Cutscenes.

Kreatives Spieldesign, ein sehr umfassendes Kampf- und Skillsystem gepaart mit vielschichtigem Missionsdesign.

Geschäftiges Stadtleben, ergreifende Hauptgeschichte, denkwürdige Botschafen & hohe Charaktertiefe.
Dazu ein herrlich skurriler Humor.

'Yakuza: Like a Dragon' bot mir mehr, als ich je hätte erwarten können.
Für mich ein ernstzunehmender Konkurrent zu GTA. Absolute Kaufempfehlung für ein Spiel, welches ich nie vergessen werde..

...und kaum den nächsten Teil erwarten kann.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon ist absolut empfehlenswert und eines der besten Spiele der letzten Jahre.
Es bietet einen hohen Suchtfaktor. Ich habe mit einigen Offline-Sessions ca. 100 Stunden bisher mit dem Titel verbracht und es wird einfach nicht langweilig.

Ich hatte die Yakuza Reihe bisher immer auf dem Schirm, jedoch hatte ich damals meine PS2 verschenkt, da mir Segas Dreamcast deutlich besser gefiel. Eine PS3 habe ich mir nie gekauft, da ich mit der XBOX und der XBOX 360 mehr als zufrieden war. Daher war es sehr bedauerlich die Yakuza-Reihe nie spielen zu können. Als ich sah, das Steam nun alle Teile anbot, war ich sehr glücklich. Im Sale kaufte ich mir das Remake von Teil 1 und spielte es an. Yakuza Kiwami gab ich nach einigen Stunden zurück. Das Spiel gefiel mir zwar sehr gut und eigentlich hatte ich auch vor alle Teile zu erwerben. Jedoch weiß ich auch um das Recycling der Reihe und der Zeit, die ich damit hätte aufbringen müssen. Daher kaufte ich gleich den aktuellsten Ableger und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Als ehemaliger Shenmue Fan sehe ich die Yakuza Reihe als geistige Weiterentwicklung des einstigen Sega Vorzeigetitels. Hier lassen sich viele Parallelen erkennen.

Grafik: Obwohl Yakuza: Like a Dragon durchgehend gut aussieht, fallen leider des öfteren extrem schlecht aufgelöste Texturen auf. Diese lassen sich vorwiegend an den Bodentexturen und Wänden feststellen. Ebenfalls sind einige der tollen Werbeschilder sehr schlecht aufgelöst. Dies erinnert mich sehr stark an das FF7 Remake auf der PS4 Pro. Obwohl FF7 dort beeindruckend aussah und teilweise wirklich eine Grafikreferenz darstellte, gab es stellenweise extrem niedrig aufgelöste Texturen die matschig und verschwommen wirkten. Ähnlich verhält es sich mit Yakuza. Es ist schade, jedoch bleibt der Gesamteindruck der Optik vorwiegend positiv.

Sound: Yakuza bietet neben der sehr guten japanischen Sprachausgabe auch eine englische Sprachausgabe. Diese spiele ich momentan bevorzugt, da ich kein großer Freund mehr von Untertitel lesen bin, da ich die Cutscenes so besser genießen kann. Mir fiel auf (zumindest habe ich den Eindruck), dass je nach Sprache die Animationen an das Englische oder Japanische angepasst sind und lippensynchron ablaufen. (Ghost of Tsushima hatte nur die englischen Lippenbewegungen). Die Gesichtsanimationen sind gut, können jedoch mit anderen Titeln wie Mafia oder Mortal Kombat 11 nicht mithalten. Die Musik und Sounds des Spiels sind hervorragend und passen stets zur Situation.

Umfang: Yakuza ist riesig. Es gibt unzählige teils sehr lustige und serientypische Minigames. Von Spielautomaten, über Kart-Rennen zu diversen Freizeitaktivitäten wie Karaoke. Yakuza bietet hier unfassbar viel. Die Minigames können auch im Hauptmenü als separate Spiele angewählt werden. Die Geschichte ist absolut fesselnd und hat mich nicht mehr losgelassen. Neben The Witcher 3 die besten Sidequests und Geschichten. Lasst euch überraschen.
Das Leveln und Kämpfen macht mir durch die rundenbasierte Auslegung als altem FF Fan natürlich mehr Spaß als die vorherigen Echtzeitkämpfe. Es gibt sehr viele Stile (Jobs im Spiel genannt) die sich leveln lassen, dazu spezifische Waffen (ebenfalls aufrüstbar) und Techniken.
Durch die Unmengen an Inhalt gibt es in Yakuza immer etwas zu tun. Die Welt die hier erschaffen wurde, fesselt mich zu jeder Zeit und gefällt mir durch das Arcade-Setting zumindest im Spielfluss besser als beim großartigen GTA (ich träume ja immer noch von einem GTA in Tokyo).

Obwohl viele Geschichten sehr ernst und düster sind, kommt natürlich der abgedrehte japanische Humor und die vielen schillernden Figuren nie zu kurz. Viele Lacher sind absolut garantiert. Außerdem wird viel Wert auf Moral und Ethik gelegt (vor allem in den Sidequests) was ich ebenfalls begrüßen kann, bei unserem immer weiter zunehmenden Werteverfall.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon ist in meinen Augen eines der besten Videospiele, die ich je gespielt habe und es macht trotz vieler Stunden immer noch großen Spaß. Für alle Yakuza Fans, Fans von Shenmue, Arcade Fans, Prügler und Genießer toller Geschichten ein definitives Must-Have.

Im Aktuellen zustand leider unmöglich zu Spielen, das Spiel Stürzt alle paar Minuten ab und man Landet auf dem Desktop. Das Problem ist wohl schon länger bekannt (wenn man einfach mal danach suchst) aber die Entwickler haben bis dato nichts dagegen unternommen.

Sega und der Schritt in die richtige Richtung!

Was ich damit meine ist das sie endlich die Spiele auch mit deutschem Menü und deutschen Untertiteln unterstützen. Ich hatte nämlich so meine Probleme mit den vorherigen Yakuza Teilen die Story komplett zu verstehen mit nur Englisch und Japanisch.

Nun aber zum Spiel. Ich finde den neuen Reboot sehr gut auch das neue rundenbasierende Kampfsystem. Der neue Charakter entwickelt sich auch sehr gut und ist einfach eine treue Seele. Er findet tolle Freunde die auch sehr sympathisch sind. Die Story ist typisch japanisch geschrieben, sehr tiefgründig und komplex aber sehr verständlich und nachvollziehbar. Es geht natürlich, ohne jetzt zu spoilern, um einen Yakuza Handlanger für den sich aber alles anders entwickelt als man am Anfang denkt.

Das Spiel bietet soviel Nebenquests die alle eine witzige manchmal auch ernste Geschichte erzählen und auch sehr interessant sind, also unbedingt mitnehmen. Man kann sich sogar weiterbilden mit Abschlüssen wo man viele Tests absolvieren muss die auch einiges an Geld kosten, also unbedingt vorher lernen ;-)

Für alle Neueinsteiger ist das Spiel super geeignet, weil man keine Vorkenntnisse von den anderen Yakuza Teilen brauch. Durch die erstmalige deutsche Übersetzung gibt es auch keine Probleme beim verstehen der Story. Es gibt auch einen Teil für die PS4, Judgement heisst der wo man einen Privatdetektiv spielt mit Yakuza Hintergrund, der auch mit deutscher Übersetzung ist.

Die Grafik sieht auch wirklich sehr gelungen aus grade die Kleidung von den Charakteren oder das Inventar einer Kneipe sehr sehr detailliert. Ich finde auch den Aufbau der Stadt sehr gelungen, wobei man denkt sieht ja ähnlich aus wie bei den anderen Yakuza Teilen, aber wartet mal ab wie sich das Spiel entwickelt ...

Für mich definitiv Daumen hoch und gerne mehr davon mit deutschen Untertiteln und Japanischer Sprachausgabe. Auch einen Blick Wert von Sega die Persona Teile (bisher nur Persona 5 Strikers auf deutsch) wobei ich hoffe das Persona 5 (das Hauptspiel) auch auf Steam erscheint.

Für mich eines der besten Spiele der vergangenen Jahre. Selten so gut in eine Storyline reingefunden und von direkt mehreren Charakteren gefesselt geworden. Das Kampfsystem ist phänomenal gut gemacht. So viel tiefgründige Hintergründe und doch so insane viel zu Lachen. Ich bin ein Fan!

Nach Yakuza 0 was ich geliebt habe, und nach Kiwami 1 und 2, was nicht an Yakuza 0 dran kam, aber trotzdem gut waren, ist Like a Dragon die unangefochtene neue Nummer 1. Das Spiel ist ist jeder Hinsicht absolut Top.

Man sollte sich diese Perle auf gar keinen Fall entgehen lassen !

This game may not look as beautiful as other games that were produced in 2020, but it was in my opinion the best game that I played in a while.

First of all, the story was fantastic. I never played a game with this much story depth and likeable characters. It can go from extremely hilarious to severe seriousnes in a matter of seconds.

Then there is the combat. Although it is a turn-based combat system, it has its own charm as it has a refreshing change from other newer games. Personally, I don`t like open world, but this game made it enjoyable for people like me.

Lastly I want to thank Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio for making my new favourite game and I think that this game needs more appreciation.

So ich habe mir das Spiel gekauft und gehofft das es mir gefallen wird, weil die ganzen Rezensionen sehr viel versprochen haben und ich muss sagen es stimmt.
Das Spiel hat einen richtig guten und schrägen Humor und das passt einfach perfekt. Das Spiel weiß was es ernst sein muss und wann nicht und sieht sich selber eher mit Humor an.
Ich kann es nur Weiterempfehlen

Yakuza 7 Like A Dragon

Ist wirklich eine Tolle Fortsetzung für alte Yakuza Veteranen und ein sehr gelungener einsteig für Neulinge.
War am Anfang ein wenig skeptisch wegen der neuen Cast. Denn Kiryus Geschichte wurde ja offiziell mit Yakuza 6 auf der PS4 beendet. Kann aber alle beruhigen. Ichiban ist ein wirklich verdammt guter Ersatz. Er ist sehr liebenswert , ein großartiger Kämpfer und hat viele Eigenschaften vom Dragon of Dojima. Dennoch bietet er eine komplett neue Storyline.

Zur Story:
Meiner Meinung nach sogar die beste Yakuza Story seit 0 und Kiwami 2. Ichibans Geschichte ist voller Tragik , Humor , Heldenhaftes Auftreten sowie sehr emotionalen Momenten. Auch seine Freunde sind alles keine 08/15 Charaktere , sondern haben alle ihre eigene Geschichte und Beweggründe .

Dazu gibt es eine 30 Stunden lange Yakuza Geschichte voller Wendungen und What the Fuck Momenten. Es wird auf Jedenfall nie langweilig. 30 Stunden für eine Story ist nun sehr happig , aber alte Yakuza Fans wissen dass die Story sich schon immer sehr langsam entwickelt. Von Kapitel zu Kapitel erfährt man mehr über die Hintergrund Geschichte und setzt das puzzle schritt für schritt zusammen. Es spielt sich halt wieder als sehr interessanter Krimi.

Zum neuen RPG System
Ist sehr gut gelungen. Es passt in die Welt rein und kann die Macher voll und ganz verstehen dass sie nach 7 Spielen mal etwas neues versuchen wollten. Yakuza 7 spielt sich eigentlich zu 100% wie die Vorgänger abseits von dem Kampfsystem. Man fühlt sich also sofort heimisch. Wenn es dann in den Battle Modus wechselt , merkt man das RPG System erst richtig. Es wurde auf jedenfall sehr gut eingeführt und funktioniert einwandfrei.

Ich persönlich mochte es aber überhaupt nicht. Für mich war die Yakuza Serie immer ein Beat em Up. Und das wünsche ich mir auf Jedenfall auch wieder zurück. Es ist mir klar dass bei vielen Gamern die Luft irgendwann raus war mit dem Kampfsystem. Aber mir hat es immer Ausserordentlich gut gefallen. Dazu fand ich die RPG Kämpfe viel schneller öde und langweilig. Man drückt sich halt nur durch die abilites und schaut dann die Cutscene die den Move zeigt. Da Bervorzuge ich doch lieber das schöne Button Smashing und die Hau Drauf Action der Vorgänger

+ Story über 30 Stunden lang

Yakuza 7 ist auf jedenfall letztendlich ein verdammt guter Start ins neue Yakuza Kapitel. Das RPG System ist sicherlich ein Hit oder Miss für die meisten. Dennoch trägt die gelungene Story das Game wie immer. Wer auf der Suche nach Spielen mit einer großartigen Story ist kommt wohl nicht an der Yakuza Serie vorbei

Ich möchte mich auch noch einmal herzlich bei jedem einzelnen bedanken der Yakuza auf Steam unterstützt. Wir haben alle bewiesen dass Yakuza auch im Westen der Welt eine Fangemeinde findet. Sega ist total überrascht von den Verkaufszahlen und plant nun die ganze Welt für ihre Releases ein. Nun fehlt nur noch Yakuza 3-6 für den PC. Damit alle die komplette Kiryu Geschichte noch erleben dürfen.

It's the best game i saw that year so far and it remebers me of some old ones too if you remember the story right you can see clearly how they are connectet in the end ;D but i really enjoy it and for every yakuza fan is it a must to play :3

Es ist mein erstes Yakuza Spiel von den vielen die es gibt und ich bin begeistert. Ich kann dieses Spiel nur jedem empfehlen der RPG-Elemente, schrägen Humor und ein rundenbasiertes Kampfsystem mag. Und viel Zeit zum zocken hat.

Story und Nebenquests wie man es gewöhnt ist: hohes Unterhaltungsniveau.
Der Wechsel des Protagonisten und das neue Kampfsystem - zwei Punkte, die man im Vorfeld durchaus kritisch abwarten durfte - geben der Serie einen großartigen neuen Touch, sowohl für Fanboys der gesamten Serie, als auch für JRPG-Fans, die sich bisher nicht so für Yakuza interessiert haben, ist dieser Teil absolut empfehlenswert.

Sehr sympathischer neuer Hauptcharakter (ganz anderer Typ als Kiryu), tolle Nebencharaktere, interessante und gut inszenierte Story und total bekloppte Momente. Das neue Kampfsystem ist mal was anderes für die Yakuza-Reihe und als Fan von rundenbasierten Kampfsystemen wie in Final Fantasy und Persona find' ich das auch klasse (auch wenn ich das übliche Yakuza System manchmal vermisse).

Ein paar Kleinigkeiten gibt es zu Bemängeln, z.B. sehr viele gleiche Charaktere auf der Straße/gleiche Gegner in Kämpfen. Aber das trübt für mich das Spielvergnügen nur sehr wenig.

Bisher bin ich echt total happy und an den Bildschirm gefesselt :) Mal schauen wie das im weiteren Verlauf des Spiels aussieht.

I Can't really say much about the earlier games because it's my 1st Yakuza game but what I can tell you is this is a fantastic RPG with a lot of heart

Yakuza series is one of a kind. I cannot think of more serious story that is told in more absurd, videogamey way. Mashup of genres and 90s SEGA nostalgia, that work together like a charm. I totally recommend it!

Having so much fun playing this game!
It's a JRPG but you play as a 42 year old homeless Dragon Quest fan.
Amazing story, great combat system, memorable characters, fun side quests and mini games, and lots of content.
The best thing is that all aspects are filled with hilarious humor.

I was gonna knock this game for only giving you Normal mode at the start since every other Yakuza game gives you access to Hard mode right off the bat, but then Chapter 12 sat me down and gave me a comprehensive point-by-point presentation explaining why I'm a little bitch. 10/10

An amazing turn-based combat system supported by memorable characters,
and a binge-worthy storyline with meaningful side quests.

-Well-written storyline and side quests. There's a story to each side quest. Some are funny and some are sad.
-English and Japanese dub are both available.
-There's a new game + mode
-Party interactions.
-Lots of mini games.
-Cameos from characters who appeared in previous games (fans of the series will have a blast seeing them)

THE CONS:

-Prologue is a slow burn.
-Lots of cutscenes.
-Grinding can be tedious.
-Dungeon design might be boring for some.
-You can get lost in the story if you don't pay close attention.
-Cameos from characters who appeared in previous games (First time players won't feel the impact of the cameos)

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is like the Gintama of turn-based RPGs.

The contrast of the main story's seriousness to the goofiness of the side quests and mini games
left me in awe at how amazing it worked.

THE PLAYABLE CLASES

They made a turn-based RPG with a multi-class system that allows you to keep two of the skills from
other classes when you switch your jobs.

The best Yakuza game so far. Has the engaging story with all the hallmark twist and turns of the Yakuza franchise and another cast of lovable characters for you to root for.

The turn-based combat system is refreshingly good after enduring the clunky real-time combat in previous games. Experimenting with the various classes is a ton of fun and each class has unique skills and perks to add variety to the fighting.

Graphics are much improved over previous games. The world of Yakuza never looked this good.

I greatly enjoyed my time with Yakuza like a Dragon and highly recommend it. The only criticism I have is that it can get a little grindy towards the end game.

The only bad part about this game is that it ends.

I loved every bit of this game, in every single aspect. I have no complains whatsover. If you ever get the chance, please play Yakuza: Like a Dragon, it may be kinda expensive, but its worth every penny, trust me.
This game was the best i've ever played in the Yakuza franchise, and might be the best game i've ever played as a whole.

Completed the story and now on Premium Adventure. played in Original Japanese Audio, and finished the story on level 65+ on all the Yakuza games i played, this one is the only one i played on PC everything else was on PS4, but this one is probably the best of the best. Story-10/10, Gameplay 10/10 for me. i like all the character developments and the back stories of it. everything, this is the best game of 2020 for Yakuza fans. hands down to SEGA and the developers. Thank you for this game!!!! ( i recommend before you play this, play Yakuza kiwami 1-2, Yakuza 0-6 first. or else you will find it somewhat weird playing this game and understanding the story if this is your first Yakuza game) 100/100

One of the best experiences I've ever had in a JRPG! This game's story is amazing with its memorable characters and all the content it has to offer. The side quests were the best part of the game with its silliness and humor being a nice change of pace from the main story. Its combat system is very fun to use with the variety of jobs the game has, not to mention the English voice acting and the OST are amazing too! Highly recommend playing this masterpiece! ^◡^

Nice emotional addition to the yakuza franchise with a protagonist whose ego is inflated by a Dragon Quest inspired real-life RPG hero alter ego.
Unlike in its predecessors, the combat is not in real time in this game. If you are opposed to round-based RPGs, stay away from this yakuza title.

Somehow the best game of 2020 got passed up for the likes of Last of Us 2 and FF7 remake. This is very disappointing to me because this game brings a fresh breath of air to gaming. It's been so long since I've played a game with such a full, rich, original story that kept me engaged the whole time! The story takes a while to start and is VERY long and may exposition too much at times, but it's all in good faith to build up for the finale (Which has some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in my life). This is a modern story filled with themes and problems that many people deal with in our world today. It's dreary with heartbreaking characters. However, instead of lingering on the depressing tone for hours on end, the game is broken up with HILARIOUS moments and side quests. This game had me falling out of my chair laughing countless times! So don't come into this expecting the same edgy anime tropes you see in every serious story nowadays. To cap everything off, this game has been one of my favorites that I've played in many years. It's my first game in the Yakuza series and I'm definitely going to be checking out the rest after this! 9/10

Ooh boy where to begin? First off let me start by saying, when this game came out and I saw that our beloved Kiryu would not be the main protagonist, I instantly binned it off as one that I wouldn't be playing. Well after some time, I'm so thankful I stumbled across a lets play on youtube and stopped to watch an episode, because from there I was very much intrigued.
I had no idea (before seeing the lets play) that it was turn based, and let me tell you, I know there are a lot of people out there who absolutely hate that this game is turn based, but I for one freaking love it. Sure, i'll admit it takes a little away from the feeling you get when playing the other yakuza games, but then I generally just button smash in those anyway. With this I feel I can better plan out my fights, and actually take the time to learn and progress through. I think if we'd still been playing as Kiryu then yes, the turn based fighting wouldn't feel right, but Ichiban is not Kiryu, and due to his personality and interests he suits this levelling, job based system, at least in my opinion.
Speaking of Ichiban, what a character. At first I thought he was just some ridiculously loud, daft dude that annoyed me with just how freaking loud he was. Now however I love him to bits and he's just the sweetest, most loyal, softest lil yakuza bean out there xD
Yes, at times he's still loud and dense, but I honestly don't mind it because it's just who he is, and I can look past it now and see how much his character has come along and helped so many people as he's progressed through his story. And I do really like the overall story of this game (I haven't finished yet, but I just know I am going to bawl my eyes out at some point) and I also love the different characters that join up with Ichiban, Zhao buddy I'm looking at you!! <3 The dynamic between Ichi and his friends is fun and I enjoy running around the map with them nattering on at me, or taking them out for food or drinks, or even to the cinema!

I've only sunk around 100 hours into the game so far, and I've yet to fight a certain Mad Dog (I know he's coming up, I spoiled it for myself) and I'm actually quite happy grinding away to make sure I don't struggle too much in that fight, and that in itself is something, because this type of grinding usually gets boring pretty quickly for me, but so far in this game I'm having a blast going through and getting new gear and trying to complete all of the side stories and mini games on my way through.
I honestly could gush about this game for ages. For something that I said I would never play, I'm so bloody glad I picked it up and gave it a chance, because everything so far has blown me away with how fun it's been, from the combat, the bonds/relationships, the job system, the location itself, it all feels really well done and of course the Japanese voice acting is top notch as usual. Plus, it's rather pretty to look at, which is a big plus to me.

Do I recommend this game? Heck yes I do!
Is the turn based aspect any good? For me yes, I think it works, but that is a HUGE personal opinion and it definitely will not appeal to everyone, as we all know.
Is there a decent story to it? Yes I believe there is.
Is it worth the money? Yes. Admittedly, I didn't buy the game off steam, as I was having a tight wad moment xD but I do believe it's worth it, if you have doubts about whether you'd enjoy it, maybe wait until it goes on sale, but at least if you buy it off steam you can refund!

Don't hold off from this gem of a game, do it for Ichiban <3

It's Yakuza, but JRPG. A unique video game series, I recommend everyone to try. There are just nothing similar you can find and this particular one is one of the best. Also, the JRPG part here is executed much better than in a lot of other JRPGs. Gotta respect that!

Heartfelt and great story telling with Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest combat? Awesome!
Never played a Dragon Quest before this one but I think I'll have to say that it's my favorite one.
The story is great and there are so many minigames within that can keep you hooked especially with the wackiness that happens based on the side quests and even the different classes.

Cutscenes are super long but aside from that, the story is like a really really long movie.

Im not a fan of JRPGs but I loved this game.

Its a yakuza game without the beatem up combat and a ton more content. A new charismatic protagonist and a whole lot of love poured into this game. I adored it. I have gripes of course but theyre so small I cant even think about them while writing this.

Really, what a lovely experience. I look forward to what comes next.

+ Fantastic Story from start to finish, with exceptional writing
+ Incredible characters. Ichiban is awesome
+ Fun, simple yet effective combat system
+ Open world with tons and tons of things to collect and raise your stats with
+ Lots of Dragon Quest Series references (there's even Metal Slimes!)
+ Jobs. Many jobs for the turn based combat
+ Plenty of returning Mini-Games to dive into from the rest of the series
+ Some BIG moments for those who've played the rest of the series
+ Visuals are nice and the game runs great
+ Music is above par
+ As a weeb-sub-japanese-voiceover loving anime watcher, this game's English Voice Cast is unbelievably great. For those of you reading this who've also watched some really bad English dubbed anime (AKA about 95% of it), you will NOT be disappointed by this game's English cast. They even lip synced the characters.

+/- Game is definitely meant for a controller

- Mahjong achievements and RNG achievements (Honk Honks).
- If Ichiban dies in combat, it's game over, even in a full party.
- Game is a bit easy on the normal difficulty with the exception of the bosses throughout the game (which take a good amount more of preparation). Good news is there are other difficulties. Bad news is, you have to beat the game to play on them.

I haven't invested 150+ hours in a single player game in a LONG time. I'm almost sad the journey is now over. What a gem.

When the game offers you new ways to grind, it's not a suggestion. It's a requirement.

Without any spoilers, make sure you are at least:
- Level 45-50 by Chapter 12
- Level 60-65 by the Finale
You'll have a much better time if you keep this in mind, trust me.

Finally beat Huniepop 2.

10/10 Puzzle Game, though I'm slightly bummed that (as far as I can tell) there aren't any secret characters, nor mod support yet (which was promised beforehand).

Nevertheless, absolutely fantastic game. Definitely worth playing.

I love this game. I love it so much that this is my first review ever. It reminds me so much of Persona 5(and I loved that one too) in terms of the characters and how they grow on you. Started playing this after Cyberpunk(it was meh) and I'm glad I picked it up. Great graphics, badass story, awesome gameplay, and just downright hilarious. Might be the funniest game I ever played. Watching a certain character(wont spoil) get so drunk he smacks his teammate instead during the fight had me bawling. If you're a fan of Dragon Quest or any Persona game you should give this one a try.

Honestly one of the best games I've ever played. A hidden gem that didn't get enough attention.

It is at times dramatic, heartwarming, uplifting, humorous and completely absurd and it all works.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon also touches on some serious social issues in a way that's organic to the game and setting without beating you over a the head with it. A recurring theme is the gray areas of society and the law and how and why people end up there.

The protagonist Ichiban I find a refreshing change to quiet surly dudes or someone trying to be a badass. He's earnest and genuinely wants to help in a way that makes running around and helping a bunch of random people with their problems make more sense than in most games. He's also over 40, happily runs around with a botched perm and is an unapologetic gamer nerd.

Likewise some of the companions are quiet different than what you would find in most games with one being homeless and another over 60.

The turn based combat works surprisingly well in this modern setting and through the protagonists imagination all sorts of elaborate and entertaining wacky battle techniques are able to be used.

Listening to various party conversation while running around town or eating at a wide variety of restaurants was another unexpected highlight for me.

There are A LOT of mini-games but mercifully for me since I am terrible at most of them they are optional and there's even a way to get some of the high end items from those mini-games, at a large premium, at a store late in the game.

If I had one quibble it would probably be that one of the party members was not involved in the story at all and felt tacked on (even though I used this person in my party a lot) but other than that this game is, ahem, Number 1 with me.

I didn't really know anything about this game or the series and went into it on whim but I'm very glad I did.

In the 19 hours I've played this game I have:

- Stopped a man from selling animal fuck videos to horny teens
- Told a man to divorce his wife, then beat the shit out of diaper-wearing yakuza
- Reinforced a young girls will to live by protecting a persimmon
- Collected numerous cans to exhange for money because I'm poor
- Gained newfound respect for sex workers

Disclaimer: I've only played Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2.

15h in and I greatly recommend it. Currently, chapter 5 out of 15

I was skeptical of how much a new protagonist would be a good replacement for Kiryu, but oh boy was a perfect choice. The new protagonist, the way it's going from the bottom to the top and gaining ranks it's actually a perfect balance between silliness, interesting and unique backstory, and seriousness.

As for the combat, turned-based combat was never my preference, so I was unsure if it wouldn't be a step down from the beat em up style of fighting, but for someone that's not into turned base it's actually fun, you can make your own combinations or just click LT in most of the fights for automatic skill usage (keep in mind you still need to block, and dodge and hit prompts to make extra damage).

Overall, so far great story, really interesting characters in your party (so far only unlocked first 3) with a good backstory as well, side stories are still as silly and innovative as previous entries.

Lastly, performance-wise it runs better than Yakuza Kiwami 2 which is a plus as well.

Just bring Yakuza 3,4,5,6 to PC! PC players deserve such awesome masterpieces!

go to this folder:

and adjusting the settings to this helped me:
