Ghats Geschichte ist noch längst nicht abgeschlossen: Zeno Clash 2 setzt dort an, wo der leicht unverschämte erste Teil aufgehört hat. Gutes Design und hässliche blaue Flecken

Auch im zweiten Teil dürfen wir uns auf merkwürdige Gegner und sehr viel Prügelei einstellen.

Gameplay
„Zeno Clash II“ folgt dem einfachen Prinzip des Vorgängers. In kleineren bis größeren Kämpfen nutzen wir verschiedene Kombinationen im Nahkampf, um unseren Gegner ein blaues Auge zu verpassen. Neben ein paar neuen Griffen können wir uns zeitweise aber auch mit ungewöhnlichen Feuerwaffen beschäftigen, deren Munition aber stets knapp ist. Was sind die größten Unterschiede zum Vorgänger? Nun, zum einen gibt es einen Koopmodus für zwei Spieler und ein paar neue Angriffe als auch neue Waffen, mit denen wir unseren Gegnern ganz schön einheizen können. Der größten Veränderung, der offenen Spielwelt, stehe ich etwas zwiespältig gegenüber. Die ist zwar nicht besonders groß, aber existiert im Grunde nur, damit ein paar mehr generische Gegner eingestreut werden können und wir an 2-3 Nebenquests arbeiten können. Der Fokus liegt Gott sei Dank immer noch auf einer eher linearen Herangehensweise und manchmal macht es schon Spaß, die kleinen Abschnitte im Spiel zu untersuchen. Ebenfalls bietet die kleine Open World die Möglichkeit, ein paar auffindbare Skillpunkte im Spiel zu verteilen, damit wir sie auf unsere vier Attribute Gesundheit, Ausdauer, Stärke und Teamführung streuen können. Letzteres sorgt dafür, dass wir im Verlauf der Geschichte etwas stärkere KI Begleiter mitnehmen können. Das war es eigentlich mit den Neuerungen zum Vorgänger. Etwas durch die offene Spielwelt bedingt, ist „Zeno Clash II“ etwas länger als der erste Teil, mit knapp 7 Stunden aber trotzdem noch eher kurz.

Story
Im ersten Teil reist Protagonist Gath in der merkwürdigen Welt [spoiler] bis zu deren Ende und findet dort einen Golem, welcher offenbart, dass Gaths Vater-Mutter, eine Art Zwitterwesen, gar nicht sein wahres Elternteil ist. [/spoiler] Im zweiten Teil bittet darum Gaths Stiefschwester, ihr bei der Befreiung von Vater-Mutter zu helfen. Doch eigentlich geht es um die Geschichte des Golems und die Entdeckung eines weit tieferen Geheimnisses. Was hat es mit der merkwürdigen Welt der Zenos auf sich? Gath macht sich auf die Suche nach der echten Wahrheit…

Grafik/Sound
Langsam wird „Zeno Clash II“ grafisch alt. Das merkt man natürlich an dem kleinen Entwicklerteam, wobei der zweite Teil nicht mehr fast ausschließlich von drei Brüdern entwickelt wurde. Was aber nicht alt wird, ist der Grafikstil. Das Design dieses Universum ist einfach einzigartig und auf positiver Weise als „wunderlich“ zu beschreiben und ist nicht nur eine große Stärke des Spiels, sondern auch einer der Hauptgründe, diesen Titel auch jetzt noch zu spielen.

Weiterhin wurde das Spiel in die deutsche Sprache übersetzt, aber die Synchronisation existiert nur auf Englisch. Hier merkt man ein wenig das kleine Budget, aber die Sprecher machen ihren Job.

Fazit
„Zeno Clash II“ folgt dem ersten Teil überwiegend in Sachen Gameplay. Der Koopmodus ist eine gute Idee, da man sich das Spiel durchaus zu zweit anschaffen kann. Spielerisch gibt es hier und da ein paar kleinere Schwächen, aber abgesehen von einem nervigen Bug ist das auch alles sehr verzeihbar. Die offene Welt empfand ich dabei weder als besonders positiv noch auf irgendeine Art negativ. Rein persönlich hat mir der erste Teil etwas besser gefallen, im zweiten Teil war die Geschichte jedoch deutlich stärker und machte mich neugierig. Ich würde ganz klar zum Kauf des ersten Teils zuerst raten, aber „Zeno Clash II“ ist eine gelungene Fortsetzung, die man sich trotz des Alters noch gut geben kann. Schnappt man sich einen Freund, macht die Prügelei sogar noch mehr Spaß!

„Zeno Clash“ ist auch deshalb unterstützenswert, weil es eines der ersten größeren Indiespiele auf Steam war. Für mehr gute Reviews zu noch besseren Spielen kann ich ganz uneigennützig meiner Steamgruppe empfehlen. Schau doch mal vorbei!

In dem Spiel begegnen einem unzählige hässliche Fratzen die man aus der Ego-Perspektive
gezielt zu verdreschen hat - am besten im Coop. Ich bereue den Kauf nicht.

Ich persönlich war beim ersten Teil mehr begeistert als bei dem zweiten. Der Stil war neu und die Kreaturen sahen noch besser aus. Dennoch ist es nicht schlecht. Die Story ist für so ein Gameplay vollkommen ok. Neu ist das man Skill Punkte verteilen kann, wie Gesundheit oder Stärke, aber nur wenn man Totems findet. Auch Verbündete können aufgenommen werden, sofern das Führungslevel hoch genug ist, was ebenfalls mit Punkten hochgelevelt werden kann. Paar Nebenaufgaben sind vorhanden wie Kreaturen töten oder Sachen einzusammeln. Die relativ hohe Spielzeit habe ich durch das komplette erledigen und einsammeln aller Skills Punkte usw entstanden. Wenn man nur die Story verfolgt und durchrennt, ist die Spielzeit natürlich kürzer ca. 5-6 Stunden. Im Angebot aufjedenfall spielenswert. Zeno Clash 1 Liebhaber werden trotzdem hier ihren Spaß haben und jeder der auf eine skurrile Spiele steht.

Zu faul jetzt eine ausführliche Review zu machen, aber das Spiel ist soviel besser als von Nutzerbewertung gespiegelt! Geniale Atmosphäre, einzigartiges Setting, spannende Geschichte

Bevor ich mir Zeno Clash 2 zulegte, guckte ich mir paar Bilder und ein kurzes Video dazu an. Man sah nur, dass man irgendwelchen Halbmenschen eins auf die Fresse geben konnte. Ich dachte, es wäre ein gutes Feierabendgame, wo man sich abreagieren könnte.
Ich Wirklichkeit ist es viel mehr als das. Das Game hat eine seltsame Story, wobei ich nicht sagen will dass sie schlecht ist. Es hat ein interessantes Leveldesign und Lebewesen. Es hat einen guten Sound und tolle Soundtracks.
Man kann sogar Fähigkeitspunkte sammeln und vergeben. Man ist in einer zusammenhängenden Welt unterwegs, die aus verschiedenen Gebieten besteht. Man kann auch Reiseportale benutzen, die allerdings erst gefunden und aktiviert werden müssen.
Speicherung geschieht durch Checkpoints. Damit man den Faden nicht verliert, gibt es Wegpunkte. Man kann mit Maus und Tastatur oder mit Gamepad (getestet mit xBox360 Controller) zocken.
Es gibt auch kleinere Rätsel und Bosse. Zusätzlich zur Story gibt es noch einen Challenge-Modi und online Bestenlisten. Es gibt auch einen Koop-Modus, den ich jedoch nicht getestet hab.
Wer das Game günstig bekommen kann und Lust auf ein, etwas anderes Game hat, der hat meine volle Kaufempfehlung. Um Fehlkäufen vorzubeugen, solltet ihr euch einige Lets Plays dazu angucken.

Besser als der Vorgänger, immernoch sauschwer! ;)

Damn, ist das Spiel schwer! Wer eine Herausforderung sucht ist hier richtig. Ich finde es persönlich nicht einfach zu spielen und es hat auch einen leichten Brainfuck-Touch! ..Naja leicht?! Eigentlich einen sehr starken! ;) Aber grade das macht Zeno Clash 2 wohl aus. Und weil das Ding so abgedreht ist - schwer - aber trotzdem recht viel Spaß macht, bekommt es von mir auch eine Empfehlung.

Ich habe es geschenkt bekommen und würde zumindest keine Fortsetzung kaufen, weil ich an diesem Teil - und dem Vorgänger - schon so hart zu knabbern hab, das dies bestimmt die nächsten 3 Jahre reicht! :-P

Das Genre ist schwer zu beschreiben, es ist ein Ego-Kampfspiel mit SHooterelementen in einer Brrainfuck-World.. Teil 2... ja.. das ist es ^^

A masterpiece. A first-in-class First Person Brawler, set in a genuinely fantastical world, with a story that tackles the problems of our day with both complexity and directness. It doesn't paint anything as black or white, anyone as good or bad, but it also doesn't pull any punches about who they are and what they do.

It talks about empire and liberty, about duty and principles, about family and belonging, about racism and inclusion. It whispers in subtext about colonialism and its legacy, about unjust societies and their systems, about anarchy and small living. It tells you, through the environment and hidden clues, about the difficult history and disordered present of this fictional world, while staying true all the while to its cavepunk aesthetics, tropes, and ideas.

It's a boundary pusher. It's a game that gets stuck in your head. It's a radical thesis on how we might live if one day we decided our current system doesn't suit us anymore. How we may have to live, if the current system decides we don't suit it. And the ways in which that would be bad, and the ways in which it could be beautiful.

Don't write this off. It's a work of art, more than any big-budget game of its decade.

I'm sorry but the game is horrible. It's a 3d brawler where you spend most of your time punching weird aliens.

The combat system, which is the bulk of the gameplay is terribly unresponsive and feels incredibly awkward.

The "story" is completely nonsensical and after a while I just started skipping all the custcenes, because it bacame painfully obvious to me that no amount of cutscenes will be able to clarify what the hell is happening in the game.

The only thing the game has going for it is a unique art style and quirky characters that are fun to look at. That's about it. If they put out some sort of art book or gallery of all the characters and enemies from the game, I would look through it. Playing the game though? Nah.

If you liked Zeno Clash 1 then this is a definite yes. If you haven't played the first then go do that instead. While it's still a rough game, everything has been improved upon. The voices, the combat, the level design. Everything down to simple quality of life additions. Though in saying that the main draw is still the setting, rather than the gameplay, and that has been greatly expanded upon.

Kind of suffers from being a non-linear game when having a series of levels would probably have been better for it - the plot is clearcut and straightforward enough from start to finish that honestly it being 'open world' in the way it is feels almost pointless.

Regardless, a decent enough game. Also, I don't really wanna spoil anything so I'm going to be vague.

I think probably the biggest improvement from this game coming from the first is that the writing is better. More stuff is elaborated on, the story from chapter to chapter in Zeno Clash 2 makes mostly a lot of sense, and aside from some retcons or just forgotten elements from the first game I think it lives up to all the 'promises' made at the end of Zeno Clash 1.

There's lots of things in ZC2 that I think probably could have had more to them but at the same time it's not actually a bad thing we missed out on them. There's things we don't see that would have been nice even for a single brief moment, but at the same time the tantalising glimpse of something you want in the distance is kind of a nice sensation too. In this case, less can be more, and I think that particular moment once you reach the most northern point of the game is kind of wonderful, even though I'm not sure it was intentional. I hope it was.

Aside from the story, the gameplay is alright. I kind of found myself rushing past most enemies after I realized there's no reason to fight them most of the time. This is an 'open world' game, sort of, and when a few random dudes spawn you actually don't have to fight them, and since there doesn't seem to be any XP system, you don't even really get any rewards for fighting them. So I just didn't bother. The only enemies I killed for the most part were story critical enemies. It felt like kind of an oversight, but at the same time I'm fine with it.

My only real complaint is that the most difficult fight in the whole game might be the very first one at the jail, it's absurd, you go up some stairs and like 10 guys spawn, Zeno Clash is a game where fighting multiple dudes at once is challenging, less so later but it's hard. I think it was meant to be a setpiece even to show you the power of grenades, but they're very very bad in this game because the AI is much too clever to stand anywhere near them at any time, basically, on top of the fact that they have a massively long fuse and are difficult to get where you want them thanks to PhysX.

I think the guns this time around are shockingly powerful in your hands or that of your enemies. I think the rifle alone seems to do half your entire health bar with a single shot when you have minimal HP upgrades, and to enemies it does a similarly staggering amount, I'm kind of into it. The trade off is that in the first game, you had infinite ammo, in Zeno Clash 2 you only get a few shots before you're fresh out.

While the guns are powerful, the thing in this game that is completely truly worthless is your AI companions. I don't think I ever saw a single one of them take out an enemy during the course of the entire game, for some reason their AI is just awful and they rarely seem to attack or do anything of value. You will be fighting solo like 90% of the time, and I didn't try the multiplayer features.

Everything this time around compared to the first is pretty polished, but one thing that stands out more because they hired on at least one or two actual voice actors, is that the voice acting in this game is frequently very very terrible. This game was made with a team of like fifteen people and some of those people are voice actors in this game, so it's totally a non-issue, but I noticed it a lot more.

Regarding sound, while generally the sound in ZC2 is perfectly acceptable, I found the music to be distracting and repetitive at times, I think also when you're exploring areas music just constantly plays, entire compositions just play and it's not that the music is bad, it's just used improperly. It's not really a game killer or anything.

The tutorials in the first game which were space out nicely, are not quite so spaced out in this one. They made like four tutorials to help you do everything, just control every aspect of your punching skills, and they open it from the start. I think probably because of the 'open world' functionality they may have had a hard time tying tutorials into gameplay, so instead it's just a menu you can access to go do tutorials. It's not great, but at least they're there and they delve into some of the advanced combos you can do, because otherwise it'd be impossible to figure them out. Even so, playing them once upfront is not really enough even for someone who played the first game, so you may have to go back to em a couple times to hammer in the moves.

Whereas the first game I think felt like it was sort of drawing on a variety of influences, Zeno Clash 2 feels like it comes into its own in terms of style a little more. I like it. The game looks alright for 2013, it's a shame they diverted from Source to do Unreal Engine but it's fine. The only real criticism is that technically speaking we did already see most of the environments shown in this game in Zeno Clash 1, so there's less brand new stuff to gawk at here, but there is some, and it is kind of gorgeous in its own way. Some good opportunities for screenshots.

Altogether, I mean, it's a perfectly good game. It boils down to a LOT of punching, and occasionally you shoot a guy and you get certain powers that let you fight more easily. In some cases, a lot more easily. Maybe pick it up some time if you like interesting settings and low budget video games.

Bad copy of the first Zeno clash, the combat is terrible, practically no weapons and ridiculous amount of ammo / grenades.

A great sequel game. Although I liked the first game's atmosphere and the feeling of unkown and mystery, everything was more surreal back then. The gameplay was a little bit complicated due to multiple fighting combinations but that is not necessary to complain. Rimat's voice was a little amateur but I could ignore that. The story was still good, characters and gameplay was fun. I couldn't get the weird nostalgia feeling like I had in the first game, but still it was really worthwhile. The ending was a little bit confusing though. I still wonder about the rest of the universe, which that means the game is a success.

This is a short review for the first and second Zeno Clash game.

These games are sort of a hybrid between shoot em up and beat em up in first person view. While the first game is a pretty linear and short game , this one goes a little bit more open world with some minor quests and exploring.

Personally I think the first game has way better combat than this one(I played them both recently). In Zeno Clash 2 the controls feel a lot less responsive and more cluncky.

I will not talk about the story much because ... I have no idea what kind of drugs these devs were on but the story is just absurd and weird.

So conclusion, a fair action game but I still prefer the first one.

I won't recommend this,
I'm not sure where to start but, aside from story (which I don't really care because I don't play the first game), everything else are very hard to enjoy and feels like chores than fun, The battle is too clunky for my taste and the mechanic is annoying AF. Really, the controls is just horrible, especially when fighting short or flying enemies, ugh... I really really hate it. And if the fighting aspect of this game is super bad, what can it offer? the leveling or RPG element is half ass and insignificant, exploration is not fun at all because we can't save anywhere we like and no place to recover health, stamina or special skill except from items and they're depleted too fast! I know this is old game but that's no excuse for the lack of common sense in here, so I advice to stay away.

Bizarre world, peyote trip 2 : if you enjoyed ZC one, play this as well, its even crazier and technically wraps up the story. These games are almost Dalí esque paintings you can play, and have a combat system, its nuts.

Fun FPS brawler, good and weird story and characters, the world is bizarre but it has a beauty that will make you want to keep looking at the enviroments it throws at you. Played it on coop and it was surprisingly smooth and super easy to setup, only crashed once in the whole 6 hours it took us to finish it. Singleplayer should be fun too but coop with a buddy takes it to a whole new level of fun .

In my opinion world of Zenozoik is perfect representation of how purgatory should look like. It's eerie, dangerous, dreadful and somehow mystic. It's the most atmospheric game i've ever played.

You will find yourself doing the same max damage combo on every enemy once you learn it, but somehow it never gets old. Music and Aesthetic alone warrant a purchase, the punching is just a bonus.

It looks and sounds like virtually nothing else in existence. The fighty fun of it is a bit like Dark Messiah, but its art design utterly unique. One moment you're clubbing blue bird people, next you're throwing two-headed pavians off a cliff. Hand grenades made out of sculls. Guns that look like contemporary art pieces. A wrist cannon that doubles as a key and only works if you point it directly at the sun. What? No, it's not time for my pills yet!..

More of this weird story set in the world of a madman.

Released in 2013 so expect dated graphics and mechanics.

The maps are pretty cool and stylish though.

The first game was better and was more in the style of Xavier: Renegade Angel.

The story is pretty short and meh, but if you really want further lore built from this series, pick it up when discounted.

I love it. Like Punch-Out in a FPP something-punk. Okay, tutorial is inadequate, but you can get by on Hard, zero allies, with only a couple moves, really. Graphics are lovely even in 2020, models are detailed, with expressive faces. The world is interesting, control is fluid (I strongly prefer mouse+kb). The AI is poor but that fits perfectly into the story.

In an alien world, you are someone who communicates every feeling through punching, or at least talking about violence. You are the living embodiment of Might Makes Right, only questioning this creed when you're losing. You then mock your superiors for resorting to violence. Anyone who talks to you doesn't make logical sense, because they often speak of things irrelevant to assault. You begin and end at your knuckles, and sometimes your feet, and only through pummeling the world can it get to know you.

gameplay is clunky but I came for the world anyways. Very unique and interesting things to be seen. shorty story, 3.5hrs and beat.

Our collective unconscious gave birth to a nightmare. Zenozoik.
Then we tried to forget.

I don't see many people talk about this game online. A shame since it has one of the most unique worlds ever created.
It should be explored; but be prepared to be disturbed.

playing this on 2020 in 1440p and it's still a beautiful game. The style in this game is unlike anything else. It's a little Maurice Syndek, a little Dr. Seuss but overall it's very, very unique. The gameplay is pretty solid, it could use a little bit more variety for the attacks, but it is still good. Cutscenes are actually worth watching due to just how bat crap insane everything is. I recommend this game to everyone on the planet just for the spectacle.

Play the first one, play this one. Not perfect, but a wild ride worth enjoying. Overall intriguing unfolding the mystery of Zenozoik.

While the pacing in the first one's a little better, it's nice to explore the world in this one.
If you like Zeno Clash, i'd give this one a try; the stories compliment each other pretty nicely.

A little more video-game-y than the first, has bigger maps with collectibles and simple stats on your character. The plot is more comprehensible than the first one's, also the minor characters are more talkative, overall better storytelling and narrative. The combat is effectively the same as the first game's, with a some additions and changes mainly to the enemies. If you enjoyed the first game but wanted more this will likely be what you're looking for

Had my grandma play for 10 minutes and all she could do was chuckle and laugh at the stupid things you can do. If my grandma likes it, its worth it. The game is meant to be played in the trollish way imaginable. fave fun~

I really like ACE Team, the first Zeno Clash and Rock of Ages are personal favourites, but if I'm being honest this one was a bit of a letdown for me. It still has a great and creative world and art, and the world map is a lot bigger now, but (it might be nostalgia) I feel like the original Zeno Clash was better, at least I enjoyed it more. Still, it was fun to return to Zenozoik

Not as good as the first Zeno Clash. The fact that it's open world seems to be more of a detriment to the game. The story also kinda falters towards the end. More of the interesting designs, architecture, and characters of the Zeno Clash world is a plus though.

If at any time in your life, you felt the urge to go down to the set of a Muppets movie, or Sesame Street, and go full on Mike Tyson and jab uppercut the living BALLS out of a bunch of weird, furry creatures, Zeno Clash 2 is the game for you.
