LAUNCH CRASH FIX
I saw this fix on some forum that I can't seem to find right now. Don't remember the name, but kudos to you bro For the game to not crash on launch you just need to go to Uplay (now called Ubisoft Connect), go to Settings: . in general , uncheck the box about enabling overlay for supported games; . in network , check the box to always start Ubisoft Connect in offline mode. You're done, now you can launch the game from Steam without issues. Keep in mind the game suddently crashes sometimes during loading screens. What can you say... -------------------- Now as for the review per say, the game has a nice, eery atmosphere even though it is way overdramatic with the creepy songs. Sometimes you encounter 1 single zombie, which is not a threat, but the game pushes the dramatic songs so much it kinda feels ridiculous sometimes. Graphics are not good, they are tolerable... human faces though, are horrible. Weapon sounds are awful. The story though is very good, there are historical parallels with the Black Plague which I always love this about Ubisoft games In summary, worth buying during sale

Intriguing concept brought down by lousy PC port
Warning: If you want to change resolution in game without crashing when you have 120/144Hz monitor, you need to launch the game on 60/75Hz monitor/TV , change it there and than you can launch it with new resolution on your primary monitor. Took me a looong time and lots of digging to find this solution. ZOMBI is a game that frustrates me to no end. From inability to even run the game in 1080p due to crashing, to develepers not giving you any solutions and just sending you to Ubisoft for support which you will never recieve to absolutely botched pc port. And when you actually get to play the game, you find there are is no real option menu, just one with bare minimum and in- game, you are welcome by ugly HUD that you can not move or turn off. So why do I recommend it? Because as much as I hate how they botched the PC port, in the end I did enjoy the game, even with its myriad of flaws. It still offers some interesting concepts like zombies in London, different characters and rogue-like style of difficulty. I just wish it was done better. Pros: + Combat is fairly engaging + Selection of weapons is quite large¨ + Level design + Story ( as limited as it is) + Mechanics Cons: - As mentioned above - technical state - Bugs, glitches and crashes - Unpolished - Graphics looked washed out and ugly

ZOMBI
Loved the game - great tense on the edge atmosphere ( it's refreshing to see a game where you fight only regular enemies ) / cons - too short , clunky interface - highly recommended zombie experience !

ATTENTION: if you are wanting to truly experience this game, then I highly, HIGHLY recommend the original Wii U version. This sorry excuse for a port does not do this game justice.
Before I explain why, however, there are legitimately some positive aspects that I think this game has over the original. The obvious one being the silky smooth frame rate, sharpened textures, and the drastically reduced load times. I also really like the new melee weapons, the achievements, and the ability to toggle a normal flashlight, and a flashlight that sees farther but consumes more battery (It's a neat idea). However...this is where my positives end. Let's just get this out of the way: this is an incredibly sloppy, inferior port of 2012's ZombiU, and I'm not just referring to the complete absence of a leaderboard, online functionality in general, or multiplayer. In the graphical department, despite sharpening up a few textures, the game barely looks any better than the Wii U version. Hardly any graphical enhancements have been made, if any at all. Heck, some graphical aspects have actually been REMOVED from the Wii U version (such as the lens smearing effect on the camera). The biggest thing that made the Wii U version so terrifying was the gamepad. It constantly enriched the experience, forcing you to multitask by trying to keep track of the gamepad and the TV to make sure nothing is sneaking up behind you. With that element removed, most if not all of the tension is just completely alleviated, with most of the action just haphazardly slapped onto the center of the screen, occasionally blocking your view of what's behind or in front of you. Some tasks that felt perfectly natural with a touchscreen in the Wii U version (such as lock picking and entering codes to unlock doors) feel somewhat stilted and awkward performing them on a standard game controller. The stamina for melee weapons has also been removed, and I really don't get this change either. In the original, the more you swung the cricket bat, the slower your swings would become. This made the cricket bat incredibly unreliable against hoards (as it should be), and it offered a bit of risk if you happened to miss the strike. With this element completely gone, your swings are the exact same speed throughout. That, combined with the other additional more powerful melee weapons, means that most encounters turn into a complete joke, allowing you to effortlessly cheese most hoards with melee weapons and lessening the value of guns as a whole, even on normal difficulty. On top of all of this, I constantly ran into numerous bugs and glitches during my playthrough that simply weren't in the Wii U version at all. Whacking downed corpses or finishing off infected with a melee weapon will often cause said corpses to leap 50 feet into the air like contorted trapeze artists, often times getting stuck on ceilings, walls, the floor, or in most cases, flying out of the map and disappearing entirely (potentially game breaking if they happen to contain an important item needed to progress the story, but in that case I guess you can just restart from where you last saved. I haven't personally had that happen to me though). On top of this, audio bugs were present as well: characters' sound clips cutting off and restarting again, zombie voice clips being played far more than it should (to the point where in one instance in the supermarket it legitimately sounded like there were thousands of infected trying to bang on a door all at once), and one of the main mechanics of the game (the flashlight being able to make the infected easily spot you) only really worked when it felt like it, meaning I could just effortlessly walk past everything half of the time. Mind you, nothing particularly gamebreaking (I was able to finish the campaign and all), but it just goes to show that Ubisoft loves breaking things that already weren't broken. Other minor annoyances I had were the run button (it seemed like you had to mash down incredibly hard on the stick to actually make the character run) and the fact that there really wasn't any drive to put a lot of extra content in this port to make it at least somewhat stand on it's own (a handful of melee weapons and...that's about it). If you don't own a Wii U and don't plan on getting one anytime soon, then this version is...fine enough. It's not an AWFUL game by any means, and it at least still manages to deliver some scares, especially near the very end. But for everyone else, go and get the Wii U version. It's superior in nearly every way. What a miserable port of an awesome game.
