I really wanted to like this game. Great visuals and atmosphere. Very unique and intriguing concept. Story told without words which I love. But the controls man, the friggin controls! I was a fan of 35mm and The Light, and both those games with the damn controls! Thankfully in those two games they didn't get in the way so much as to keep me from enjoying them. But this being a 2019 release with very poor controller controls after experience from 2 other titles is just shocking by today's standards, I tried keyboard just to see the difference and was better until I reached the Hunter droid part. Just no. Life is stressful enough.

6/10 from me.

7th Sector has an interesting tone and somewhat intriguing setting, but ultimately I was never really attracted to its story nor immersed in the world. To story was too unclear and the setting only vaguely presented, with a lot of random things affecting your end-game outcome.

And PLEASE don't play this game with m&k, the controls are absolutely horrible and unintuitive, you will quickly get frustrated, this game was made to be played with a controller.

It is not a bad game, some levels are interestingly designed and the game is visually appealing (and well-optimized), and some puzzles are nicely put together, but as a whole package, it's not something I would recommend.

2/10 - it's a game where you move on a wire by pressing A and D and there are a few puzzles to jump from cable to cable when you path is blocked, puzzles you played 100 time before.

But further more, it's really not what I expected - I thought from the screenshots this was going to be cyberpunk walking simulator, when it's in fact simply a puzzler on rails. I find no pleasure at all in the gameplay, even though the graphics are really good for a game of that type.

My advice: only purchase after watching 1h of gameplay on YT and imagine doing this (pressing A, D and space) for 10h and having 'a good time' (assuming the game last that long, i'll never know).

Can't get it refunded as It's been over 2 weeks, so negative review it is. Developers need to talk to steam about this '2 weeks rule'. The 2 hours rule is barely fair on some game, but the 2 weeks rule is outright disingenuous.

Well, uh... Certainly a novel idea and the game is well made, but very frustrating. There isn't much to explore and being stuck at the same point for hours isn't my idea of entertainment. Overall I didn't enjoy it. But a younger myself would have.

I wanted to like this game. played it on the keyboard and the keys aren't made clear. Couldn't find the sit button to be able to advance. So I used an xbox 1 controller. There is no way to remap the buttons. Button 5 (sit) is assigned to the right trigger. It didn't work. I made it to this point and it and still nothing. So I hooked up my PS4 controller made it to the same point and button 5 also programmed to be the right trigger button didn't work on that controller either.

Update. After switching up and back multiple times the sit button started to work on the xbox 1 controller. Now the game pad on the controller doesn't select all the select options. The game does say partial controller support. The keyboard sit key turned out be the left ctrl key. located in a really bad spot because you have to use WASD to navigate and the right ctrl key doesn't work either. Not being able to remap the keys makes this game bad. unplayable IMO unless you get the controller to work right.

Even if you get this game for free don't waste your time.

Thought it was another type of game then entered the factory and completely went off the rails for me. Dying over and over on sections that made no sense, just totally lost interest. The timing puzzles with instant death are just nonsensical.

I was very into this game earlier, I wrote positive review about this, I love the puzzles and atmosphere.

After the half of the game, I'll just give you an example. In the scene of trying to lower switches 1 2 3 4 5, a robot is chasing you and you need to hide in lockers to make it pass. In this way you'll be able to lower switches without getting caught. You also need to lower them in order. Dev put them in from left to the right like 5-1-4-2-3 (your exit is left of the scene btw).

Which means you have pass this robot twice. I tried several times and I played safe. Waited for robot minutes to pass and IT FOUND ME IN THE LOCKER WITH NO REASON! So start over.

If this is a puzzle game where is the puzzle of this chapter? If this is a quick runaway scene, where is the flow and WHY THIS FUCKING ROBOT FOUND ME when Im not moving any muscle for waiting this shit to pass????

Game started as a unique setup and great background story, then it just turned into this timewaster machine that I've experienced in most of the Adventure games. Don't do this again please...

Fabulous little puzzler with a sumptuous dark theme, looks just great.

Particularly like being dumped straight into it with no instruction or hand holding, you have to work everything out for yourself. Puzzle variety is very good some easy some quite confusing, the secret to the more difficult ones is to check your environment.

Actually really surprised, even delighted with the way the character progresses, quite unexpected.

Bargain when on sale!

I wanted to love this game but it pissed me off so bad, and I believe it's not my fault. Puzzles are sometimes unfairly hard, and if that's not enough, they CHANGE. And if that's not enough, your progress is NOT saved after all of them. If you quit, you need to suffer through them again. And now they are different, so it's hard again. I would've LOVED to explore this universe, it was beautifully done, with amazing sound design. But it just led me to unprecedented levels of frustration.

I did not finish the game and there are some serious things I don't like about it (see below). However, the game is very original and very cheap. Plus, it contains some real puzzles. Therefore, for this price I do recommend it, especially on a sale.

Speaking of puzzles, some of them rely heavily on your hand dexterity. They are not actually puzzles, they do not require brain power, rather they require hand power. That's precisely why I left the game without finishing it. I did have fun playing it as much as I did, and there were some puzzles that activated a few cells on my brain.

I hope the developer continues with this style, but no more dexterity challenges please...

In a nutshell that’s just a set of puzzles. Atmosphere is nice, but most of the puzzles are rather unclear and annoying.
It requires a multiple playthroughs (up to 4 times) to get different endings - to much of a hassle.

I wanted to like this game. I really did. The originality of the premise, the variety of gameplay, and the excellent scene design never stopped impressing me. But a puzzle game lives and dies on the quality of its puzzles, and 7th Sector let me down too many times to recommend.

Anyway, here are my thoughts:

Pros:
- An incredibly imaginative premise
involving a sentient spark of electricity traveling along a wire that eventually travels through a variety of robot bodies
.
- Amazing scene design and non-verbal storytelling in the backgrounds.
- An excellent variety of puzzles (some logical) and gameplay challenges.

Cons:
- The game flat-out fails to tell you when it has introduced new controls or mechanics. This is what forced me to refer to a walkthrough more times than ever. There are no on-screen prompts to indicate when you should be using the arrow keys rather than WASD, and no in-game menus I could find to indicate that, say, the CTRL buttons can be used for crouching at certain points. In addition, some robots have special abilities that are not tutorialized at all, and are difficult to understand without proper introduction
(ex. hit metal boxes to generate a brief magnetic charge, or press space to shine a light that reveals hidden messages)
.
- The game does a very bad job communicating what you did wrong when you fail.
- Some of the puzzles are truly awful and badly designed, relying on obscure environmental clues that are easy to miss and have no obvious relation to the puzzle at hand.
- Some of the background sounds run on a very short loop and get very annoying if you get stuck in a particular area.

This is the coolest freakin' game I've played in a long, long time. It's atmospheric in the creepiest, cyber-punk sort of way. The puzzles are wonderful. There is also some hat tipping to the Half-Life saga, Limbo and Inside! I rate this game a 200 on a scale of 1-100. Can't say enough good about it!!

This game is a Masterpiece! Now...

There are some negative reviews pointing out the clunky mechanics in the first section of the game (switching between cables). I understand how this sounds, but bear with me, there is a lot more to this game than that.

When I played this game, I approached it with curiosity and a relaxed state of mind. Every move I made was to discover this intriguing world presented to me. I wasn't trying to rush anything, nor did I want to achieve something. Just exploring and looking around.

For me, the mechanics weren't a problem. This game is awesome.

The previews for this game are well done. If you are wondering if you should try it, give it a try and enjoy your exploration of 7th Sector.

Played for one hour with the first few puzzles
it should probably be mentioned that this game is better played with a controller (using wasd was a pain)
if you enjoy doing actual maths with numbers this is for you (I had to use a calculator!)
had to go to youtube to figure out how to complete puzzles and don't know how the game expects you to figure this out (recommend to add in-game tips)
more frustrating than fun
will ask to refund

TOTALLY CLUNKY!!

Switching between cables is SUPER CLUNKY! In a game, where the first half is... Switching between cables!

Also, the movement: You steer your blip of light with WASD. Cable goes to the left. You press A. Cable goes up slightly, only a few degrees: Better press W, too, or your blip grinds at the edge of the cable and slows down to zero.

And it is things like that which hinder this bad game from being a cool game.

Atmosphere is a straight 10, but if you screw up the gameplay loop by messing up the movement, you failed.
BECAUSE MOVING IS ALL YOU DO IN THIS GAME.

Also, the puzzles are straight up unintuitive. When I hit Youtube cause I'm stuck, and find out that the only thing I had to do is pass over to THAT cable. THAT cable I tried for four times to cross over. But because movement and teleportation, the ONLY two things you do at the beginning, are MESSED UP, I couldn't.

I bought this with a 40% discount and STILL refunded it.

Broken movement completely breaks the gameplay loop. And if you hit YouTube, you can see what I mean. Look what happens when the blip hits an intersection.

Don't buy this.

Simply put, 7th Sector is a fun and creative puzzle game. Much like games such as Inside, it's got nice graphics, a confusing story, and pretty cool and straight forward puzzles to solve. At first, I was hesitant on playing it, but once in it, I realized that you can't really judge certain games by the cover. With that being said, I recommend anyone at least try the game out. It's worth it.

One of the roughest hidden gems on steam

7th Sector is a cinematic sidescroller/platform in the vein of games such as Inside and Limbo with a great presentation and aesthetic but is brought down by some really frustrating but very unique puzzles. Worth a shot if you're into these sort of games like i am but be prepared to get lost at some parts.

It will take time to cool off from the experience this game gave me, it is absolutely amazing. Not just the puzzles are interesting with diverse and not so obvious solutions, but the story line layer is soooo cool. An it's not simply story by itself, but how it is showed through the game to come together in the end. No dialogues, no voice-over - just the scenery, environment and events around. Cyberpunk masterpiece. To be fair I still feel high from just finishing the game, I may be biased.

I'm amazed that this game isn't on more then ONE steam friends wishlist?! It deserves so much more cred and attention. Got it during a sale and didn't notice it was a game at all until it was linked to me by that same friend. BUT I HAD TO BUY IT AS SOON AS I SAW THE STORE PAGE!

Dark, atmosperic, futuristic, depressive and a original puzzle game. Impressive story and the soundtrack is on point. Puzzle difficulty is more on the harder side and the game offers you a lot of details and events.
Loved every second of it!
