Age of Empires3 deren letzten Titel AoE, die von Ensemble Studios entwickelt wurde aus den Jahren 2005. AoE3 hatte ich nie gespielt oder kannte es nicht genauer, allerdings gefiel es mir recht schnell was Gameplay & Mechanik s ausmachen. Hierbei spielt man die Historien der Familien Blacks. Die Blacks haben nicht viel Glück damit ärger aus denn Weg zu gehen, jedes Generation hat Problemen mit Piraten,Söldnern oder Verrätern.

AoE3 bekam zwei Addons spendiert für mehr Singleplayer Story + mehreren unterschiedlichen Zivilisationen, wie: Japan,China und Indien. Multiplayer Maps und vieles mehr die Online Community in diesen AoE3 Edition ist heute noch vorhanden. Leider sind Hotkeys nicht ganz vorhanden, damit muss man sich abfinden die Einheiten Manuell Angriffsbefehl zu befehligen.

Fazit: Kenne viele Age of Empires Fans, die auf AoE3 bis zum Tod hassen! Da ich viele Aspekte verstehen kann mag ich AoE3 trotzdem gerne, auch deren Zeitspanne ich nicht soo nice finde, fand ich das Setting cool. Für RTS Spieler ein gefundenes Fressen! :D

Eines der besten Strategiespiele, was die Gaming-Welt zu bieten hat.
Unzählige Stunden mit diesem Spiel verbracht. Mit der Indianer und Asiaten-Erweiterung setzt das Spiel noch eins drauf. Habe das Spiel zuvor ohne Steam-Freischaltung gespielt.

Die Wiederveröffentlichung von AoE I und II haben mich in jüngster Zeit wieder an diesen alten Klassiker herangebracht.

Zu Grafik und Gameplay will ich nur so viel sagen, dass es gut in die Jahre gekommen ist. Auch die Erweiterungen, die ich seinerzeit nicht kannte, bringen dem Spiel viel interessante Abwechslung! Allein die neuen halte ich etwas spärlich und hätte mir hier mehr gewünscht. Dem wird jedoch durch Abhilfe geschafft.

Die immernoch aktive Community des Spiels ist der größte Pluspunkt für mich! Viele Mods und eine relativ kurze Warteschlange bringen auch im Multiplayer heute noch viel Spaß mit :) es gibt hunderte Costum-Maps und viele Foren, YT-Kanäle etc, die bis heute dem Spiel noch leben geben. Ich kann das Spiel jedem, der in Nostalgie schwärmen möchte oder einfach einen guten alten Klassiker ausprobieren möchte, wärmstens empfehlen!

A decent successor to the genre defining AOE 2, 3 tries its best to stay relevant but can get overly complicated and gimmicky with some of its new introduced mechanics. The story mode is not as memorable as AOE2 but there is still fun to be had in it as well as the traditional skirmish modes against AI opponents.

Also tucktucktuck is a hilarious cheat code.

It's a decent game, but it doesn't live up to the tactical depth of AOE2. Worth buying in a sale certainly, but don't expect it to be the same as AOE2. Apparently AOE4 has just been released and is a much faithful update of the old AOE2 style. This is a bit more dumbed down, but still pretty enjoyable.

If you ever grab this in a bundle together with the remaster (at least at a time Microsoft appear to be pricing this at about 37 euros / 40 bucks with no discounts to entice you to buy the remaster or bundle instead), I really recommend giving it a try together with Wars of Liberty modificaton that. It adds an immense amount of new mechanics, factions, and gimmicks, representing rarely seen in RTS game factions like every single South American country including Paraguay, or Maoris, or Romanians.

With current pricing policy I definitely would recommend against buying it on it's own unless you wanna experience the entire AoE series and for one reason or antoher the remaster Definitive Edition is absolutely not appealing to you. But if you do get it, please do try the mod.

One of the Best games I played as a Child which is AOE II and III. This hits different more of this than II. The campaign missions are what I remember as a child and nostalgia kicks in while playing this game. If you played AOE II then you would definitely like playing it. It has Online play, I like it. I would definitely recommend people play this game. If you haven't played it before then give it a try it like other RTS games with old school stuff, no guns nothing. The campaigns are based on Historical events and I am a big fan of Historial Events and History in general. I have learned a lot from playing through the campaigns. I would play the story of one of the characters of the campaign and then I would search then up to learn more about them and the roles they played in shaping our History. The graphics is old but if you want newer graphics then get the AOE III DE which came out in late 2020

It was one the best top strategy game before our nightmare of Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition with all those massive bugs and crash and the horrible waiting to receive update. Well what can I said ?! hummmm XD

All Age of Empires games will forever hold a special place in my childhood as some of the best strategy/RTS games that I sunk hundreds of hours into. Age of Empires III is the original conclusion of the series I enjoyed so much and I had a blast circling back to this game. The best part of Age of Empires as a series is the building, RTS gameplay, and development of your buildings through the time periods but surprising;y Age of Empires III also had a fun campaign that you could spent a lot of time with.

Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a step back into your childhood/gaming history but the definitive editions are worth checking out as well!

I usually play against just AI now. It's just relaxing - I can play a rushing play style if I feel like it, or a slow steady burn. Different strategies...and if you're having a bad day, totally erasing every piece of an enemy's existence can usually bring on a smile.

great game. The original age of empires 3 is still perfectly playable. there are no bugs. if one has the classic, there is no need to buy the definitive edition.

I'd say it's the most underrated Age of Empires game, but maybe I'm biased because of the nostalgia of having played it for probably several hundred hours in my early youth. The balance is less than perfect and the home city mechanic is... odd, but the game still manages to be pretty darned fun. If you don't have nostalgia for it and you're looking for a decent RTS game I'd say wait for a sale with this one.

My friend and i tried playing together but the online is not working propperly, If one of us hosts the other doesnt see the game (even after refreshing and restarting game and or computer) the only good part on it is the single player

I prefer this game compare to AOE2. Easier to play and faster pace.
The card system got reworked in DE. Buy new version if you have good pc. This version can be played on a potato.

TLDR: Great game, but buy the Definitive Edition.

Introduction

I have been a fan of the Age of Empires series ever since the first game was released in 1997. Despite my fairly low play-time on the Steam Aoe3 Complete Collection, I played the original AoE3 release (and expansions) for hundreds of hours before purchasing on Steam for a nostalgic fix.

Game Basics

AoE3 is (IMO) the best game in the series. It has an engaging and interesting single-player campaign (if slightly clichéd). I personally found the three Asian Dynasties campaigns less engaging, although mainly because they were standalone stories which were not linked to the main campaign narrative arc.

Compared to the previous games in the series, the differences between each civilisation are much more substantial, requiring a different strategy for each - particularly so with the native American and Asian civilisations. This increases the longevity of the game significantly, as you learn the nuances between the civilisations and explore different playstyles. In addition, the rock-paper-scissors between unit classes is much easier to understand and is clearly indicated in the user interface (e.g. 1.25x damage against heavy infantry, 0.75x damage against cavalry etc.).

The home city adds an interesting new dynamic to the series - every action (gathering resources, constructing buildings, killing enemy units, destroying enemy buildings, etc.) earns XP which will in turn permit you to choose civilisation-dependent shipments from the home city (free units, resources, economic bonuses etc.). The XP earned is permanent and unlocks new cosmetics for that home city.

Each civilisation also has an explorer hero unit which is designed for revealing the map and discovering various treasures across the map for a tactical bonus. In addition, trading outposts can be built on trading routes (for resources or XP) and native villages (for unique improvements and units which do not count towards your population limit).

Why You Should Buy the Definitive Edition Instead

Better graphics are a given. The Definitive Edition also has an improved user interface, and much better multiplayer stability. Further, all of the expansions are rolled up into one coherent version of the game, whereas with the Complete Collection you need to select which expansion you want to play when booting the game.

The single biggest improvement with the Definitive Edition is a change to the way home cities operate. In the Complete Collection, you could create as many home cities for each civilisation as you liked but once the city was created you could not change its name or explorer name. Each home city had to be designated for Supremacy or Deathmatch, and could only be used in that game mode. Further, single player home cities could not be used in multiplayer and vice versa. Home city shipments were dependent on level, so someone playing with a low level home city would be at a competitive disadvantage because they would not have access to the best shipments. This could become frustrating if you don't play exclusively either single player or multiplayer (and/or one game mode).

The Definitive Edition shakes this up. You have one home city for each civilisation and you can change the city or explorer name in the game settings. You do not need different cities from single player / multiplayer and Supremacy / Deathmatch. Most importantly, all shipments are unlocked from the beginning.

There are also periodic limited-time events for the Definitive Edition (much like the AoE2 Definitive Edition), giving you access to new cosmetic items (mods and profile pictures).

The Definitive Edition is simply a more polished and user-friendly experience.

age of empires 3 is the greatest feet (feat?) of human accomplishment ever. when i played this game for the first time my prostate enlarged and i shot hot cum against the wall of my school computer lab in 2007. the graphics are so good that sometimes i cry because my dad beats me. my friend john said this game is good and i didnt believe him until he convinced me with his balls. please purchase this game and download my malware that will mine dogecoin on your android phone. thank you, i hope you enjoyed reading this essay as much as i enjoyed writing it.

This is the best game ever created. My recommendation is to redo the new version and make it more like this, but get new civs or go with World Wars and technology through today. Such as US Army, Marines, Air Force, tanks, planes, artillery, etc.
The new DE version is horrible. No rank structure just straight game play and bad graphics and control. Disappointed.

Poorly integrated, have to give it privileges to modify the computer every time it starts. Expansions do not mix and saved data transfers poorly between them. Glitchy in general, settings like sound reset if you minimize it.

Remains an awesome sounding and looking game despite its age. Routinely and unfairly criticised and compared to AoE2. Personally, I prefer the simplified resource and tech tree compared with AoE2. Does AoE3 require less skill to manage than AoE2? Yes, but it still has enormous depth and requires careful management of resources just like AoE2 and micro managing correctly early will provide huge advantages over someone who does not (think for example, having you settlers/villagers shoot game so the game moves towards your town centre).

I prefer this over AoE2 because it lets me focus more on the things I enjoy - the combat, large armies and indeed, very unique armies depending on the race. Units and races have genuine strengths and weaknesses. That you can choose your homecity deck provides a level of depth not available in AoE2. Do you stack unit cards to get an early rush? Or do you risk economy or unit strength multipliers that over a longer game provide you with advantages over a unit stacker? Such options! I love getting natives involved for a unique edge (harassing, cannon fodder or whatever you choose) as well as fighting for control of trading posts.

For anyone new to AoE, or indeed strategy games like this, you will not be disappointed as this is the most accessible of the AoE titles available

I can play this in max graphics and everything looks decent, without any sudden freezes or crashes.

Still better than the Definitive Edition.

Edit: It makes sense to me that this costs more than DE, as it is BETTER than Definitive Edition in current stage.

Not exactly a fan of AoE3 but honestly this game is underrated. Back in 09', this was a huge upgrade for me. The campaign mode was 100x better indulging than the AoE2 campaigns. Everthing about this game was top notch. I get hit with nostalgia everytime I play this (not much nostalgia as AoE2 but Meh nostalgia). However, I wouldn't exactly recommend buying it at the moment as the Definitive Edition's gonna released in few weeks. Unlike AoE2, this game can can be nostalgic in both the DE as well as the OG version. However hey, if you got enough cash to burn and you cannot wait for the DE you can go for it but I'd still recommend you wait.

As great as this game is, it's really not worth 37€, especially with the Definitive Edition coming soon for 20€. Wait for a sale or for the DE.

If you don't care about the price this game is a masterpiece though.

Underrated Age of Empires game that was dumped on by older Age of Empires fans who felt this game was to mainstream or to simplified or didn't require as much strategy and felt to easy. They were way to harsh as Age of Empires 3 may not be as complex as 2 but 3 is an amazing game in it's own right. Age of Empires 3 campaign is based less on historical events and battles that happened and was more like trying to tell a historical fictional story with real historical figures and factions like the Knights of St. John and the Ottomans. The Asian Dynasties is the best expansion in the whole Age of Empires 3 package as it has the most gameplay mechanics and content. i highly recommend this game and everything that comes with it!

I found it to be interesting. its a little fast for my style of play( which is slow and relaxed) but I have only started to play it for a few hours now. It may become more playable for me then. But for the young and quick witted it should be a great game to play.

This is an amazing game with beautiful graphics for a 2005 game, its very fun and very easy to play, I highly recommend buying this! I'm waiting for Age of Empires 4 the graphics are gonna be superb its probably gonna need an RTX 2080 super for max graphics at 144 fps... U can comment and ask me questions about this game..

If you like war strategy games you will likely enjoy this game. I am coming back to gaming after 10 years off as a way to connect with my son. We have been playing this game together. My son is 8 and a smart kid. I can't say every 8 year old would have the patience for this game. He is still learning after a few rounds and I am too. After he goes to bed sometims I play another round so I can stay better than him! :)

Campaign is fun, and it has a fun MP community, as well as a competitive scene with tourneys. I prefer this game over AoE-2.
