Aura: Fate of the Ages / Aura: Tor zur Ewigkeit ist ein klassisches 2D-Adventure im Stil von Myst. Ähnlich aufgebaut mit hochgerenderten 2D Bildern die den Anschein von 3D vermitteln und gefüllt mir weitgehend kryptischen Schalter-und Kombinationsrätsel. Der Spieler folgt einer etwas kruden Story mit mehr Logiklöchern als ein Käse aus Tilsit. Alles in allem nur für Fans von Myst und ähnlichen Adventures geeignet.

☛ Worum gehts?
Aura ist ein First Person Adventure, das zum erkunden anregen soll und sehr viele Puzzle-Rätsel zu bieten hat.

[+]
○ viel zu erkunden/ aber kein Open World Game
○ die ältere Grafik stört keinesfalls, da die Land und Ortschaften gut gestaltet worden sind und vieles wieder gut machen
○ Hintergrundmusik/sounds gut ausgearbeitet

[-]
○ die Puzzles sind im Alleingang sehr schwer zu lösen, man wird einfach ins kalte Wasser geworfen und erwartet förmlich das man alles gleich versteht. Learning by Doing. Ist an sich ein gutes Prinzip, ist aber in dem Spiel etwas arg ausgefallen
○ die Sequenzen zwischen dem eigentlichen Spiel sind grafisch einfach nicht mehr der Bringer
○ ungewöhnliche Steuerung, kann man aber sich aber schnell heran tasten und dran gewöhnen

☛ Fazit:
Für Casual Gamer und Adventure-Liebhaber einen Blick wert, aber nur wer viel Geduld und Zeit mitbringt das Spiel zu verstehen wird daran auch seine wahre Freude haben.

Dieses Spiel ist für meine Begriffe sehr empfehlenswert. Wer früher Myst gespielt hat, wird dieses Spiel lieben.

Es war einmal, zu Zeiten der guten alten Dampfrechner, da waren Abenteuerspiele die einzigen mit wirklich guter Grafik. Die besten davon machten das Beste daraus. An diese Zeiten erinnert dieses Spiel mit seinen wunderschönen Bildern.

Ein wenig Nostalgie. Ein Spiel in dem tatsächlich gerätselt werden muss, ohne Abkürzungen. Das ewige Hin- und Herlaugen nervt zwar manchmal und mir persönlich fehlt auch die Interaktion mit den NPCs, aber insgesammt ein cooles Spiel.

Nach 15 Minuten wusse ich - NEIN!
Sehr seltsame Steuerung, komisches Gameplay - unübersichtliche Rätsel, vor allem unlogische.

Keine Lust nach 15 Minuten - nicht zu empfehlen.

So this game has downsides and of course goodsides.

The good sides.
-(Only if you played old games in the era when this game was released, maybe not.) Gives nostalgic feel, and makes you wanna go back i time.
-It has okay story, but nothig too special.
-There are some interesting puzzles.
-Landscape is beautiful if you can handle 2004's graphics.

Bad sides:
- It has weirdishly ciringy soundtrack but i didnt mind it, it was kinda calming me, but ik that some people wont like it.
-Goddamn animations can be exausting, but after 7 h i found out you can skip them with an ESC.
-There are puzzles that acctualydo not make any sense, and can be terrifyingly boring to solve.
- Looking for some items can be so stupid that i cant explain you. Creators put some items in the most tiny spaces and map can be hugee.

This game isn't for anybody. Just for the lovers of the puzzles, and nostalgic people of course. But in the end i am satisfied and mad that ther is no second part on steam.
Btw, only way you should buy this game, is when she is on a discount.
But i recommend it,strongly.

Slow as hell and the puzzles are irritating. Old school point and click, you move around the map a frame at a time which is a pain when you need to move between rooms. I swear that of the 3 hours of game play at least 2 hours is just clicking and waiting for it to move forward an inch.

This game is... somewhat cringe. There's no cohesive storyline, a bunch of names thrown all over the place, which made me lose interest quite quickly. The puzzles are generally simple, but the way the machines work is odd and nonsensical: it almost seems like the developers had fun designing complex machines just for the sake of it, possibly (probably) trying to emulate the feeling of the Myst games, which this game looks extremely like a clone of. The oddest choice here was adding badly rendered characters with awful voice acting which were absolutely avoidable (if you can't do it properly, don't do it at all). It wasn't a bad experience overall, but it made me physically cringe.

I always thought I was a hardcore point n' click adventure fan, but Aura made me understand I might not be. Tedious, non-sensical, boring, repetitive, unintuitive - that's how I'd describe this game. They show you some kinda intro which explains nothing, stuff like who you are or where or why - not needed. Then they shove you into some magical world where you have to begin some kinda journey. Again - why? As somebody here excellently pointed out, why should I care what's happening in this game if I have zero clues about what's going on and have to think very hard to even begin to understand anything?

So the story isn't really Aura's strongest point. Instead it's very puzzle-heavy, but they make even less sense, especially since only a small portion of them have any clues on how to solve them. And even they are of little help. The others you have to either spend a very long time to solve, save time and look them up on the Internet or if you're lucky, brute-force them. But what's fun about that? What's more, those puzzles are very weird, with alien-like designs and sometimes so intricate and demanding they become tiresome to solve. And there's just so many of them! Also, god forbid you make a pause of a week or two with Aura, because when I did that and came back I couldn't remember anything at all as to what I'd been doing up to that point in the game or what I was supposed to do at that time. I guess it speaks for itself how forgettable Aura is. So unless you're a mastermind who solves anything in an instant or have days to spare with nothing better to do or keep a walkthrough handy, I think you're gonna bore yourself to death here.

It's a very old game, so the design is based on a system that makes it very annoying, and almost frustrating, to play.

I've lost my old save game, and I'm not actually finding the game compelling enough to continue playing it much further...

Had a hard time deciding if I recommend this game. Decided YES but it leaves you at the end feeling cheated. Easy to get through with no help but has no plot what so ever. If you like to play puzzle click and walk games with no story line, you may find this interesting. Wouldn't pay more then $10 for it. Like some of these games , leaves you wondering what to do with no clues. Some games are completed via chance. To each their own but I didn't care for it and never play it again but someone may find it interesting?

I couldn't beat the game because the tuning fork puzzle doesn't make any sound on my system so I became stuck. Besides that I would not recommend the game because of the lackluster story, terrible voice acting, and unnecessarily complex puzzles. The game also has a bad habit of simply hiding important things from you. Almost as soon as I started I had to switch to using a walkthrough. Where I got stuck was in the first room of the game there are a series of small machines you interact with. When you select the first machine you can simply move left or right to move between it's neighbors. Except one. This is what threw me. One machine is you have to back out and THEN select it. This is so completely broken even the walkthrough mentions it is easy to miss. The game is full of examples like this. This is also one of the few games where the author of the walkthrough writes about how grateful they are that they will never have to touch/explain/see a certain puzzle again. That is how bad this game is.

Its control designs are outdated for an adventure game - you can't ask for clues in case you missed picking up an item here or there - so I had to resort to using a walkthrough. I actually quite enjoyed it after that and was torn on whether or not I should recommend it. The ending settled it for me.

Pretty good game if you're into the Puzzle-Adventure genre. Has a few minor problems here and there, but nothing too bad. Definitely worth its price. Hopefully the sequel is added to Steam one day...
