Leider viel schlechter als der erste Teil.
Die hauptfiguren viel Klischeehafter und unsymphatischer, die Rätsel weniger logisch und eher von fleißarbeit geprägt und der Humor zündet selten.

Deutlich kürzerer Spielspaß als im ersten Teil und ich vermisste die Minispiel-Rätsel. Die grauen Zellen kommen dafür anderweitig auf ihre Kosten. Ansonsten aber spannende Geschichte, Witz und Charme, sympathische Hauptcharaktere, detailverliebte Schauplätze, wie bereits im Vorgänger. Schade nur, dass man den teilweise echt langen Gang von einer Szene in die andere nicht abbrechen oder verkürzen kann. Trotz seines Alters ein tolles Spiel, das man als Point-and-Click-Adventure-Fan nicht verpassen sollte.

Spiel:

Broken Sword 2 ist eine Point & Click Adventure Fortsetzung die direkt an Teil 1 angrenzt. Wieder mit sehr mitreißender Story und sehr schönen Charakteren, die wieder Super Synchronisiert wurden.

Einzelspieler:

Man spielt wieder 2 Charaktere die aus verschiedenen Gründen in eine Entführung verwickelt werden, und Artefakte die für Bösen Riten gesucht werden. Man Spielt sich durch sehr vielseitige Umgebungen und löst allerlei verschieden und abwechslungsreiche Rätsel die aber immer logisch sind.

Grafik:

Die Grafik ist zeitgemäß, aber dennoch noch sehr ansehnlich und schön gestaltet. Die Zwischensequenzen sehen sehr gut gemacht aus.

Musik:

Die ist immer schön im Hintergrund und macht die Atmosphäre echt super.

Steuerung:

Die Steuerung ist einfach super, er läuft alles perfekt.

Pro/Contra:

+ Gute Rätsel
+ schöne Grafik
+ schöne Zwischensequenzen
+ eingebaute Hilfe

Fazit:

Eines der besten Point & Click Adventure die es gibt, mit 10 Stunden Spielzeit ist es nicht zu kurz oder zu lang.
Die Rätsel sind echt super und wenn man mal nicht weiter kommt gibt die Hilfe immer ausreichend Tipps bzw. Denkanstöße zum Weiterkommen.

Wer Point & Click Adventure mag oder sich das erste Mal heran wagt an das Genre ist hier sicherlich genau richtig.

Es ist im Gegensatz zum ersten Teil auch sehr Super dennoch hat mir der erste Teil besser gefallen. Ich denke aber das beide Teil auf jeden Fall ein kauf wert sind.

Herrlich einen Klassiker zu spielen und die Geschichte erneut zu erleben :)
Es macht sehr viel Spaß und die Komik hat es auch immer noch in sich :D

Als Info noch nebenbei, das Spiel ist auf Deutsch einstellbar, Ton und Text.

Das Spiel ist noch gut.

Es ist eine Überarbeitung des zweiten Teils der Point-&-Click-Serie, die im Englischen als Broken Sword und im Deutschen unter Baphomets Fluch bekannt ist. Diese Remastered Version enthält insbesondere eine leicht verbesserte Grafik.

Das Spiel ähnelt deutlich seinem Vorgänger und spielt kurz nach den dort geschilderten Ereignissen. Einige Dinge aus dem Vorgänger werden erwähnt, die man besser versteht oder witziger findet, wenn man diesen kennt, aber wirklich nötig ist das nicht. Ich gehe im Wesentlichen auf die Unterschiede ein.

Bei der Geschichte erwartet den Spieler ein ähnlich abenteuerliches Geschehen. Der Fall, den das detektivische Paar George Stobbart und Nicole Collard verfolgen, hätte auch von Lara Croft übernommen werden können und führt entsprechend von Paris nach Südamerika, Karibik und London und entwickelt sich wieder von einem realistischen Fall zu einem mit Metaphysik. Mir wurde es einen ticken zu albern und konfus, auch wenn die einzelnen Abschnitte durchaus recht unterhaltsam waren. Viele Figuren waren Stereotypen. Man kann es witzig finden, ich fand es teilweise abgründig. Zudem ergab manche Handlung für mich keinen Sinn.

Dafür gab es aber auch wieder einen cleveren einheimischen Jungen, der diesmal Rio hieß.

Das Gameplay ist sehr ähnlich dem Vorgänger. Es setzt vermehrt auf Fortschritte durch Dialoge, was verstärkt das wiederholte abklappern aller Dialogpartner und Themen erfordert. Glücklicherweise werden meist alte Themen, zu denen es nichts Neues gibt, nicht mehr angezeigt. Anfangs gibt es clevere Rätsel (wie die, den Wachhund auszutricksen), später wirkte es für mich des öfteren schwierig zu erraten, was denn nun wie oder wo eingesetzt werden sollte. Das Abschlußrätsel war ziemlich mühselig. Insofern fand ich das Gameplay etwas durchwachsen: nicht wirklich schlecht, aber kaum klasse Dinge.

Man hat aber Situationen, in denen Nicole oder George sterben können belassen. Sie sind manchmal nicht einfach und insofern durchaus gute Rätsel.

Die Grafik wurde leicht verbessert (Remastered zu Original; Teil 2 zu Teil 1 wohl nicht). Aufgefallen ist mir nur, dass man bei den Dialogen nun (wie in Teil 1) die Köpfe vergrößert und hochaufgelöst darstellt (sogar lippensynchron) und die Texte hochaufgelöst wiedergegeben werden. Die Inventarobjekte sind zwar auch überarbeitet, aber nicht so toll gelungen wie im DC des Teil 1. Alles andere wird sehr pixelig wie im Original. Besonders Nicole sah ja etwas komisch aus, nicht zuletzt in ihrer Arbeiterkluft ohne Jacke in den Tropen.

Der Sound ist gut. Er wurde angeblich überarbeitet. Die deutschen Sprecher sind ganz gut.

Die Steuerung ist ebenfalls OK.

Pro & Contra:

Wertung: 6/10

Teil 2 wirkt in etwa wie Teil 1 mit leichten Abweichungen, die bei mir nicht so gut ankamen. Die Geschichte etwas konfuser und das Gameplay etwas lauer. Zwar nicht schlecht aber auch nicht wirklich toll. Remastered wurde es (was den Augenschein betrifft) nur etwas.

PS: Es gibt ein Fanprojekt, Baphomets Fluch 2.5, kostenlos im Internet erhältlich, sehr professionell gemacht ganz im Stile der ersten beiden Teile der Serie. Zu empfehlen.

old but gold.
in 4-5h durchspielbar. beim vorgänger konnte man noch mit doppelklick schnell die Karten wechseln, was hioer nicht mehr möglich ist. schade drum. aber toll gesprochen und echt gut

DAS Hammer Kultspiel früher auf der Playstation 1 unzählige Male durchgespielt und nun über steam besorgt und ständig am zocken.
Ich liebte es als es NEU war und noch heute liebe ich es.

Wer auf wirklich GUTE point & click adventure´s steht , für den ist dieses game ein MUST HAVE

Wieder ein solches Spiel durchgespielt. Diesmal gibt es sogar eine Szene in der man sterben kann, wenn man nicht rechtzeitig reagiert. Glücklicherweise bekommt man die Chance seinen Fehler dort gut zu machen und ohne vom letzten Speicherpunkt erneut anfangen zu müssen.
Was mich gestört hat, war die Lautstärke in den Zwischenszenen. Dort ist die Musik auf Maximum und die Sprache so wie eingestellt.
Ich kann das Spiel empfehlen

I enjoyed playing Broken Sword 1, so I decided to try the second one as well.
Again, the story was good, but some puzzles were kinda complicated and tiring...
Still, it is a nice game.

its a good game , only let down is nico is too slow at one of the main parts in the game , ends up getting shot. she needs a rocket up her at that part to get past the part.

Having been blown away by the first game, I was expecting the same here, but I must say, that it wasn't the case.

The broken sword the smoking mirror is a broken sword game still, and getting back at it with George and Nico was nice, those two didn't change, the American superhero and the french lass.

You get to see characters from the first game in peculiar ways and there are references and jokes that are only understandable if you have had played the first game, I found that to be really cool and mesmerizing

It's not as good as the first game, the puzzles are kind of worse by being less realistic and predictable, one thing this game does really nicely is linking small places to each other in the same area, in terms of puzzles and characters, however, in the first game you literally got to fly around the world and see different places, cultures, and people but enough comparing it to the first, the smoking mirror is a broken sword game and it's definitely worth playing, its a short ride but a decent one.

Not nearly as good as the first, for several reasons: No more chemistry between the two protagonists, they only act side by side - or one after the other, rather. No personal history or mystery involved. Fewer memorable side characters - or less memorable ones, rather (I like the General, though, he reminds me of Stan the ... salesman). But most of all, the system that worked so well and seamlessly in the first Broken Sword, well-written dialogues intersecting with inventory, breaks down this time into a mess of who to talk to next to get something done or to push the action forward. More interactive groping in the dark than actual puzzling out of situations. Walkthrough definitely recommended, as it is mostly a question of where to click in what order rather than what to do.

Still head and shoulders (sorry, Titipoco) above most of the direct competition, like the sorry imitation of the Runaway series.

Like its predecessor, The Smoking Mirror is a game that puts its two central characters, American adventurer George Stobbart and his French reporter girlfriend, Nico Collard, in pursuit of the truth behind an age-old myth. This time, the two reluctant adventurers must travel the world in a race to stop the return of Tezcatlipoca, the legendary Mayan God of Death.

Unfortunately, the similarities to the original all but end there.

Although the game begins on an exciting note—Nico is kidnapped, and George finds himself tied to a chair in a burning house—it quickly deteriorates into a series of brainless puzzles and mostly humorless gags.

There are some good jokes, some good inside references, but overall the humor feels forced. It’s omnipresent, especially through George who 90% of the time cannot open his mouth without having to joke about things, even during what should be serious moments. It falls flat too often and just becomes an annoyance and epicness killer.

Puzzles are not that bad in themselves, but not hard enough and rarely feel like part of the story, more like obstacles to its progression. Sometimes it seems like you were wandering around in circles trying to find the right conversation topic with the right person that would allow you to trigger the next conversation topic.

After all been said and done: the story never feels as compelling, involving, well-researched and epic as in The Shadow of the Templars, just a standard bland p&c adventure story.

The most intriguing thing about The Smoking Mirror is how it could have been created by the same folks who came up with its predecessor.

Decent Point and Click game. Has easter eggs, one of them which can skip the pyramid puzzle in the last segment of the game. some character dialogues are presented as comic book art panels. There is also a comic book that details the events before the start of the game. The only issues are the slow walking speed, some cartoony cutscenes don't really look remastered. There is no provision for double clicking the ends of the screen for fast travel.

The first game was better.

While the second game is better on the technical aspect (ignoring the audio issues), its story and puzzles are far worse than those in the first Broken Sword game. Puzzles are incredibly tedious. You are almost always offered the obvious solution, but in order to make it work, you have to interact with everything more than once to unlock the dialog option, which lets you finish the puzzle.

A good sequel but not the greatest. It was much shorter and had less...faff than the first game but at the same time didn't have the same puzzles and depth so it was kind of lacking on that front. The characters are still good and memorable but the ending absolutely flew by and I don't feel as if Nico and George (who has remained endearingly weird) were as bound up in this story as they were with the Templar plot of the first.
Definitely could have been improved in places but I'd still recommend it overall.

This game made me laugh till I peed. Then I kept playing. The item usage is actually pretty funny and there are many locations and new mechanics that I enjoyed. I really liked it!!

It's Linux port is absolutely not well tested (First game works GREAT btw).
1. Pointer is stuck to the top left if you use any kind of display scaling
2. If you have a widescreen monitor it will get stuck in a low res 3:2 aspect ratio after exiting game.

The first game works flawlessly (from a technical standpoint), this game is rather poorly tested.

This is the first point-and-click adventure I played, just on the verge of puberty (on the original Playstation, nonetheless), and I can't say for sure, but it may be for that reason that it's still my favourite. And, indeed, to this day one of my favourite games. Just playing these two first entries in the series give me the warm feels.

Obviously the original is considered the classic to most people, and this is not as fondly remembered. It's effectively more of the same, but I've always particularly enjoyed some of the more exotic locations with their bright, evocative visuals and sound effects. Lots of these type of games have gone for the witty leading man approach, but the very well-balanced writing and voice acting for George Stobbart keep him up at the top tier. I've played this enough times that I at least vaguely remember how to complete most of the puzzles, but I'd guess they're generally somewhere in the middle between too easy and too difficult, which is a good place, especially for an ADHD ridden 21st century boy like I've become.

Game ends a little bit suddenly, could have done with one extra cut scene, but that's a problem that effects multiple of the Broken Sword games. As for the 'remastering', don't take that word too literally. The graphics generally are the same as ever, and so by modern standards of lo-fidelity. It's not Double Fine style renewed, which is perhaps a bit of a shame. But you get new animations for the dialogue (which I can take or leave), and you get a hints system, which I'm always grateful for.

I played the original Broken Sword 2 back in the day. I don't remember most of it, but I thought it wasn't as good as the first. Right now I'm playing the remastered edition of Broken Sword 2. I don't know why George is so interested in Nico - it seems she's always irritated by him more than anything else. It feels like a longer game and I'm about 77% through it, but I have to say that I'm pretty bored with it. I'll finish it though, but I just don't find this story very interesting at all.

I enjoyed the first one, but this is just boring. I want to finish it, but I played the 50% of the game, and is still boring.
Pros:
Hint system
Nice Art and cinematics for the time the game was released

Cons:
You need the hint system because the solutions make no sense at all. And the ones that are easy, are too easy. Like stupidly easy.
Weak storyline and character developtment
SLOW MOVEMENT. This is sooo frustrating. The character takes to long on going to on point to another on the screen, and the background animation takes to long to stop.

I get it, is a really old game, but I've played several really old point and clicks that where amazing. So for me it's no excuse.

I love the Broken Sword game collection SO much! The old artwork style and the charm of the characters - especially seeing Duane and Pearl in the most unusual of places and how loveable they are. I could quite happily play any one of these games over and over and the novelty never seems to wear off.
One day, I hope I can get my children to love Broken Sword just as much as I did when I played the first game as a kid. :-)

This game, while the Sierra-esque visuals are appealing, is awful. The hint system deserves credit as the solutions are otherwise utterly nonsensical, but the story line is non-existent, the character development shallow, and beyond even the pointless puzzling the game frustrates the most by being SOOOO SLOOOOW.
Not plot-wise- movement wise. Unless you enjoy waiting a full minute for your character to traverse the screen, and then another 30 seconds for the background animation to stop, game elsewhere.
Sorry not sorry.

Finished this game in about 8 hours. It's average 80-es point and click adventure. You won't miss anything if you are not playing it. It's 6/10.

I already played this one a long time ago.
The game itself is fine, not as good as BS 1 or BS 5 (didn't try 3 or 4), but this Steam version is terribly slow.
George feels like is in slow motion, can't really appreciate the game.

I can recommend this game. You can expect typical and good point and click gameplay. The story is fine, although the charatures and jokes sometimes seem a bit out of place compared to more modern games. But all in all, it's still a very enjoyable point and click adventure.

It also works perfectly under Linux with its native version.
