Alles in allem -> Kaufempfehlung.

-----English version below------

Heiliges Terra, bemannt eure Schiffe, FÜR DEN IMPERATOR!

Holy Terra, mount your ships, FOR THE EMPEROR!
Due to the fact, that I never played Part I of the series, I am unable to take a direct compare. Graphics are smooth and the game mechanics are self explaining.
It helps beeing a Warhammer 40K fan, but it not mandatory.
Feels like a RTS version of World of Warships.

Pro:

Excellent 40k naval strategy game. The battles are incredible, strategically deep and visually wonderful. The campaign system is interesting at first, particularly in its asymmetrical design between player and AI (though the unfortunate side effect is the multiplayer side of it can only be coop as a result), but it does get repetitive pretty quickly. There is little depth to the gameplay on the strategic map, while the tactical battles, though excellent, don't vary a whole lot. Special missions have gimmicks added to them to add variety but I've usually found them more irritating than interesting.

Still a great game overall and breath of fresh air in the strategy genre.

There is a singular satisfaction in watching a plasma broadside make a 100% hit and delete an enemy off the board.

The combat is great fun, even sans the aesthetic of ginormous battle cathedrals duking out it like pugilists in an underground arena.

Don't be afraid to toggle between speed settings. Drop to Slowest to slowly understand the UI and execute your plans; this game is micro-heavy.
After you're comfy, I suspect you will leave it at Fast for most of game.

While I wish there were more ships on the board, I understand why they limit it to a handful. Still, it would have been nice if the levels felt like larger parts of a bigger fleet battle.

In the same vein, I would have liked more detail on the board. Empty space with scattered clouds and asteroids quickly feels samey and bland.

This game has a sharp learning curve, but here are a few essential tips: hide in the gas or asteroid and shoot. That will help you get through the majority of battles.

In terms of story, this game is very close to what could actually happen in the Warhammer 40k Lore. This is not a canon story by the way, but nonetheless it definitely carries a lot of the Warhammer 40k Charm. Plus, you get to command fleets, that is far more impressive than anything you could do on a planet. Definitely try it out, I would say it is one of the best Warhammer 40k games out there.

Happy to see a naval action Warhammer title, there is not enough content in that aspect of GW's titles whether it be 40K or AOS. Had fun so far but would like to see more campaigns, Id even pay for a DLC of a Tau campaign of the Damoclese Cursade or some obscure Eldar/Drukhari lore. Fun, but could have been more.

this game is a tragic mess...

concept, graphics, sound and atmosphere are very fitting and immersive but the gameplay is utterly boring due to the difficulty scaling being completely artificial because the AI doesn´t even know how to properly take a fucking dump in the bathroom and just swarms your ass in hordes.

It´s so frustrating to see this games´ potential tactical depth spoiled by such an obvious flaw.

Performance is awful, the factions lack any semblance of balance and the game was abandoned early on. Truly shmaeful that the lessons from BFGA1 seem to remain unlearnt.

Played the prologue for 35 minutes, ending with some cutscenes and then a new map with a new prologue andn 3 new ships. No save option to be seen so I assumed its auto-save. Quit to menu and lost all progess and need to start over.

Sorry, the rest of the game to come may be good but seeing the forums full of this problem is simply inexcusable in 2005, and we are not in 2005.

Game looks epic but I can't recommend, in order to play it I had to disable Easy Anticheat and turn off the internet, and I bought the game to play a coop campaign. Problems like this are all over the place, there a dozens of unanswered threads about crashes and other issues, the game is just kinda broken.

A shame because when I got it to sorta work it was pretty good.

Sadly I can't recommend this game. Battlefleet Gothic is what got me in to Warhammer 40k back in the 1990s. I have nearly two hundred hours playing this too, but it now crashes with in a few minutes every time I play, no message just crashes. The Dev abandoned it right after launch, much Like Games Workshop abandoned the tabletop version too. DO NOT BUY, IT NO LONGER WORKS

God, i wish they made ships just a little more unique. Instead of x amount of points for x amount of damage, have ships be either customizable or start off with different traits. What happened to all the uniqueness of BFGA 1? Seriously, ships could be tailored so well to your personal preference in that game. Why change that?
The skalgrim mod appears to fix these problems.

Absolutely stunning sequel to the original.

I own the First Battlefleet Gothic game, and it was amazing in its own right, and a truly underrated Warhammer 40K game. This game improves every aspect of the original game, refining it, making it more complex (read: more fun) and overall improving game play. The campaign makes you play like a real admiral would. You have access to limited fleets and must choose between class and variants. You control systems to take from enemies, must be prepared to defend them from enemy invasions. Direct campaigns with the limited resources you have available, damaged ships carry over into the next turn until repair.

I recommend buying, especially if you're a WH40K fan. Doubly so if you like the first game. For the Emperor!

Do not support Games Workshop's horrific and predatory fan creation policies. Going after the very people that create and uplift the community of their games is seriously scummy. Do not buy anything related to Games Workshop until they retract their garbage fan creation policies and then establish a continued history of trust and support for their fans.

I read all the reviews. I looked on the discussion boards. And you know what? I still didnt listen. But maybe there is still time for you. Picked this up in the Steam summer sale, as I enjoyed the first game and generally love the universe. This game plays easier than the first game - must simpler to just jump into and play. That's the lure though.

About 12 hours in, I am breezing through the campaign on regular difficulty. Story is okay, ships are rendered beautifully, and combat is pretty decent. Not too easy, not too hard. Then around turn 50, I've unlocked two new sectors and have my armada level around mid 6ish. Decent size fleets, well leveled ships and captains. Two story missions pop up - one to kill a chaos fleet, and another to investigate a Necon tomb world.

I jump over to the Chaos mission, get greeted by the big bad boss of the mission and his battleship (the largest I have a this point is a battle cruiser). My fleet follows his all around the map (every fleet is 10x faster than your Imperial ships, even your space marines). Eventually kill the battleship and its escorts. Mission over, right? No - more escorts spawn in. Okay, 5 minutes later and tons of chasing around the map, they are dead, too. So are are all my special abilities (you can only use them a hand full of times per mission, sadly). Wait, what's that? Unidentified ships. I limp over to investigate, and it's two tyranid escorts. I kill them, then on the other side of the map spawn two more. Kill them. Then two more escorts and a light cruiser on the other side of the map. Kill them. Then the same on the other side of the map. Then, guess what? A cruiser and escort now spawn on the other side of the map...and then the same thing, again, on the opposite side of the map. No idea of how long it's gonna last, no idea how to surive - but guess what my mission objective is? Kill everything and survive. 45 minutes in, my ships are useless, my admiral nearly dead - so I decide to jump out and see if my reinforcements will jump in. Besides, the enemy always lets the happen when they are low on units. Campaign over.

Time to reload. I figure I just need to level up more and maybe unlock a BB or something. Go to the next mission. Guess what? SAME. EXACT. THING. But instead of tyranids, you just keep getting more waves. My shops got assaulted to many times that I didnt lose a ship, just all my crew. And then game over.

It's not challenging. It's poor game design.

Game is a straight downgrade of the first game.

Sure it has better graphics and more units and stuff, but it lacks the feature that made the first amazing.
A progressive Skirmish mode that was insanely fun and rewarding to play.

The Skirmish mode in this game is just a mock-up multiplayer match against bots.
I got this on day 1 and couldn't find a match for multiplayer, I refunded it. Got it a second time due to a bundle(I think) and have only launched it once to see if it had finally implemented the desired skirmish mode from 1. Alas, it has not.

One of the better WH40K Games. Not perfect. But it's really nice to dive into the naval combat part of the 40K universe. Visual and sound design is spot on. Fleet combat feels appropriate (i.e. a punchy slugfest between flying gun castles). The sense of escalating size and needing to be everywhere at once give it that WH40K feel.

The fleet point limit, inability to set formations to move in, and limited campaign development and lack of helpful tooltips prevent it of standing out as anything other than another WH40K game.

If you like the feel of WH40K, you will like the feel of this game.

The sound didn't work for me (no sound during intros, cutscenes, gameplay or in menus). I tried the few solutions that there are on the web, nothing helped.

The game looks interesting, but it's broken. And apparently it's also broken in other ways for many people.
Also completely abandoned by the publisher less then a year after release, with lots of issues left unfixed.

I applaud the idea of the game, but can't recommend actually buying it in this state.

Much better than the first one. Lets you do ship battles instead of poorly developed objective based swill. You can also be outnumbered or outnumber your opponents instead of just matching each other on a point based system. It's fun to go in ham and overwhelm your enemy with battle cruisers or to battle tooth and nail outnumbered to hold a sector.

I wish there was more to the campaign - not a big fan of the 'time limit to complete objective' deal, would rather it be more sandboxy.

Overall I have quit a bit of fun blowing enemy flying cathedral spaceships into dust.

ABOUT THE GAME AND RECOMMENDATION:

Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 is a great sequel to the first game. It continues to capture the grim darkness of 40k perfectly while providing brutal and exciting ship to ship space combat.

Despite its flaws, I had a lot of fun playing this game so I can completely recommend it to Warhammer 40k and RTS fans alike.

PROS:

+ Great graphics and visual style: Highly detailed (and lore accurate ships), great special effects, and amazingly rendered environments
+ Good music and sound effects.
+ Excellent voice acting (except for the one dude in the opening cinematics)
+ Fast-paced and exciting combat
+ Great setting in the 40k timeline: As far as I am aware, this is the first game set in the 42nd millennium (post-Roboute Guilliman return)
+ Multiple 40k factions and sub-factions are present (Imperium with AdMech and Space Marines; Chaos; Orks; Tyranids; Necrons; Dark and Craftworld Eldar; and Tau): Note that the Tau is only available in multiplayer, furthermore, only the Imperium, Chaos, Tyranids, and Necrons have campaigns)
+ Different factions require vastly different play styles
+ Titan Ships are now playable
+ Customizable difficulty and fleet sizes for the campaign (Replayability)
+ Large campaign map offering a fairly lengthy game time.

CONS:

- Unresolved but minor bugs
- No difference between the different Space Marine Chapter Fleets: What I mean is that there is no difference (other than heraldry) between, for example, an Ultramarine fleet and a Space Wolves fleet.
- Before entering the battle map, you’ll need to manually select the ships you want to enter the battle first, otherwise, random ships will be chosen for you.
- No ship formations: This is the biggest con in my opinion. You can arrange the ships at the start of the battle but they quickly break formation while on the move.
[b]- Randomized ship reinforcements: When you lose or retreat a badly damaged ship, the game replaces it with random ships from your reserve rather than letting you choose.

NEUTRAL:

+/- Removal of ship customizability in favor of ship level system
+/- Semi-4X strategic map: The upgrading of planets you control is fine but a bit simplistic for my taste.
+/- Lengthy tutorial segment for the Imperium campaign

NEAR UNPLAYABLE DUE TO BUGS AS OF JANUARY 2021. Probably worth it if they ever decide to fix it.

I had been eyeing this game for a while and thought I would pick it up during a sale.

The campaign starts quite slowly but quickly opens up. The main gameplay is fun, if perhaps not incredibly deep.

The bugs in this game are horrible however, even a long time after launch/after the 1st DLC. I spent 28 hours trying to work around the bugs, occasionally having to redo battles etc. The game crashes A LOT, even after disabling the custom DRM. You also cannot save (auto or normal) during the enemy turn, so if you're being attacked on two points (inevitable during the campaign), you will have to fight multiple battles in a row without the possibility to save in between.

I just had to face 3 battles during the end turn. The first two were hard but went well, and then the game crashed during the third battle... back to square 0. This is where I give up for now. Maybe return in a few months again if they decide to fix their game.

If you're a fan of the excellent Battlefleet Gothic tabletop game, then this is definitely worth your time. While the mechanics are a little fiddly to get familiar with initially, it's worth the effort as you get used to commanding an expanding fleet of varying classes of ships. After around 20 turns, you'll find yourself enjoying the balance of developing your fledgling empire while assembling an increasingly mighty set of fleets and experimenting with the strengths and abilities of the different ship classes.

This is a very faithful adaptation of the tabletop game. The campaign narrative is engaging with plenty of unique missions, supported by great visuals, cutscenes and voice acting. This is especially impressive given how terrible so many games pumped out under the GW brand end up being. I'm 50 hours in and I still haven't completed the Imperial campaign fully, so longevity is not an issue.

For any Warhammer 40K fan, this is worth your money and attention. If you're a Battlefleet Gothic fan, it's a must-have game.

Great game. Enjoyable campaign, surprisingly good writing and excellent combat. The 4x layer is a bit thin, but the spectacle of combat more than makes up for that.

There's just one big issue: Easy AntiCheat will ruin your fun sooner or later. For me, it was when I booted up one day with a campaign almost 100 turns in and just got locked out. Rebooted, still locked out. Tried command line arguments and everything else I could find online, still locked out of the damn game. All because someone thought it'd be a good idea to include Epic's terrible piece of hypersensitive spyware by default without even an option to disable it.

It eventually resumed working the next day, but I remain deeply unhappy at being arbitrarily locked out of the game for so long - especially since it's far from unlikely that it'll happen again.

I don't even want to play multiplayer - I just want to have fun beating the enemies of the Emperor in the campaign so why do I have to wrangle a horribly designed anti-cheat app that's practically designed to hurt consumers?

Oh, and you can forget about getting support for it. Steam redirects you to the developers, Tindalos... who do not have any kind of customer service whatsoever.

I played the first game and while it was enjoyable, it didn't keep me hooked. This game on the other hand ticks all the right boxes and is massively enjoyable. It's easy to learn, but hard to master - which I absolutely love in a strategy game. I'd highly recommend this game to anyone who like naval warfare, space warfare, and/or WH40k

You can absolutely tell the creators of this game have a love for the Warhammer lore. The ships designs are spectacular, the cinematics absolutely embody Warhammer and the gameplay is highly enjoyable to boot. A must have for Warhammer fans and while newbies might get a bit lost at first, they have some great cinematics summarizing the different races and the story so far.

Do not buy this game. I have spent over 20 hours trying to get it to work but Anti-Cheat kills it every time. I have tried everything I could find online to fix the problem, including emailing anti-cheat, to no avail. I should have asked for a refund in the time period rather than trying to get it to work but, on paper, it looks great. It says that I have 0.5 hours on record but in truth I never got to play it at all. Do yourself a favour, do NOT buy this game.

beautiful story
great gameplay
epic soundtrack
only downside is the campaign
it's give the feeling of only delaying the game by sending waves after waves of the hostile fleet at you
wished they brought back the sound effect one slowing down the game (activating tactical cogitator )

Great game but Easy Anti-cheat is a pain in the ass.

This invasive program is mandatory for running BFGA2 even in single player.

I have never used any cheat but this EAC is crashing the game and the computer every f*ck*ng time!

I have to hard reboot my computer maybe once per 2-4 hours of play. Sometimes at the very start of the first battle of the day.

If they ever let this obligation down I'll change my review...

The game was amazing till the latest update removed the option to disable Easy AntiCheat for Co-Op and unranked multiplayer.

Being a Linux Gamer this breaks the game, until the most recent update being able to launch with -noeac to play Co-OP worked perfectly in Linux but now when I go to invite a friend to the Co-Op campaign it crashed to desktop immediately, no warning was given, no notification that the update would force EAC at all times making this a very hard to recommend title now.

Apart from EAC issues the Single Player is excellent and I was enjoying the campaign in Co-OP with friends, but now I'm stuck to playing alone

Well they just updated the game such that you can no longer disable Easy Anti Cheat. This means that you can no longer play co-op on linex systems.

Before disabling EAC would simply bar you from matchmaking. Now it blocks you from all multiplayer.

If this changes I will take back this review.

This is the closest thing I've found to TOTAL WAR: In Space. There is a turn based grand strategy map. Its a little basic but provides interesting challenges. The tactical battles are real time and decent, though they are based a little too heavily on abilities and limited use skill shots instead of unit tactics and ship strengths. I give it good marks for being the best I've found. I don't give it top marks because they need to add depth such as more individual ship customization like swappable weapon hard points, crewmember specializations, and armor vs speed choices for the player, and change the strategy map by not limiting the types of ships available to me based on campaign progression but rather purely resource accumulation from my controlled sectors. Good game, just want more player choice influencing battle outcomes.

Although only 4 races (1 DLC) are represented in the campaigns, this is a galaxy size RTS. There are level up skills and ships are upgradeable to a degree. Modifiable game mechanics elements to suit your play style.
Overall a good game in the WH40K franchise, although the future sequel may combine space & ground conquest.

This is for all you guys who purchased this game and are having issues either with game starting or the cheat system booting you out mid game. there is an anti cheat system in this game that does not recognize alot of programs that run in the background. Alot of cheat systems are programs that run in the background while a game is playing. if you own games outside of steam such as starcraft or dragon age, these games come with there own running program such as battle.net and origin. most people have their computers automaticaly sign into these programs at start up similar to steam for ease of access. however when you try and play this game and have avast anti virus on with battle net and origin gothic fleet anti cheat system will not recognize these programs and shut down. if you want to play this game turn off auto start up in your task manager for any programs not essential to running this game. you can always start them later. or you can make sure you are signed out of or not running any programs besides steam. your game will work just fine

Game is fairly fun with lots of skulls for the Skulls god and blood for the Blood god. Also lots of crashes for the Crash god. Seems to run fairly well until at an important point in an important quest/moment in battle, the engine crashes and you must restart and pray to the RNG god that you can get back to where you were in the battle.

Really disappointing.
Feels like less than half a game, where all that half has gone into darkened graphics of expected respectable graphics with zero to effectively no story mode.
Game play isnt great either.
Best things about it is the back ground images which y'know thats to add to a game, not try and make a game.
Comes across as a very very basic game where little effort has gone into it to give it any real depth.

I purchased this game, as well as the DLC for the Chaos campaign. Played for about a week with no issues. It was great fun.

However, suddenly, I suspect some kind've update occurred. This update has completely locked me out of playing the game. I can't get into games, I can't start up campaigns. And my Chaos DLC is completely locked out.

Steam has made it impossible for me to refund the game and refused to help me. Ignoring my e-mails.

A small improvement over the original, but PvE skirmish is no longer available as in the previous. MP is dead. Lock ups in the middle of battles requiring they be completely replayed. Too bad because the 40K feel is really good, but the game...not so much. Would only recommend if you're a big 40K fan and when on sale. Would love to see GW give this license to the BSG Devs.

Completely new to the world of 40K, I played total war warhammer 1/2 but this, though has some cross overs is in fact a new universe. I watched some youtube videos of the lore which helped a lot but to make this review nice and short I will say this. this game is fantastic, it takes a little time, not much, to get into the mechanics but it keeps revealing more and more of what the game has to offer to you as you play the campaigns. overall, i bought this at full price which isnt something i normally do but I have wanted to get into the 40k universe and also wanted a new RTS with good graphics (shallow i know but...)

this does it all, story is great too and despite what a few people online are saying the script is actually really good. some fantastic and memorable characters.

The game is worth the 10 or so dollars I paid on sale. Will this be a game I fondly remember and will play through again and again? The answer is no. The space battles are initially novel and the campaign has its moments of interest (like deciding between two possibilities). Sadly, it becomes very repetitive. I am on the verge of completing the Imperial campaign and will finish because I want a sense of completion, but I do not see myself doing the Necron or Tyranid campaigns.

This is one of the very few games licensing the Games Workshop brand that actually made something good. The main campaign story is very entertaining with well done voice acting. There is a lot of opportunity for immersion, and many of the battles can literally kick your butt if you don't play smart. I see a lot of complaints about the game not being re-playable or random, but 3 total campaigns can easily take up 25-50 hours each. How is that not value?

Overall I think buying this game on sale or at full price you won't be dissapointed if you are in to 40K. Even if you aren't, it's a rarely well done space game.

Fortunately I got in one campaign before the game would no longer run, the game has always been unreliable and buggy for me but now it gives me an error message, something about the anti-cheat software blocks the game from launching now. I've tried multiple things to get it to work but have lost all interest in this game. This issue seems fairly common, and because of this I wouldn't recommend this game as it now seems like gambling your money on something that may or may not work, or in my case, it worked for a while until it didn't and now I'm locked out of any and all other parts of the game that I didn't get a chance to play.

Low playability. Bad prologue/tutorial that throws everything at you with minimal introduction and a deluge of text boxes. Bad UI with a sea of similar looking buttons. Slow, tedious, gameplay with low player agency. Very uneven voice acting with cringe worth moment. Graphics are decent, ships look good, fantasy is there, but that's all there is. Story seems decent but conveyed through cheap comic style slide shows. May be better if you played the 1st one, but as a WH40K veteran but Armada newbie, I simply couldn't get into this. The screenshots and videos are the most awesome part of this game... most of it is wating around for stuff to unfold, circling each other until the other side dies. Of course you can ram and board, but it's all samey and uninteresting. Certainly not for me.

Great music, great feeling of 40k. The gameplay itself is boring, almost all factions play actually the same. The tutorial gives you all the functions instantly, leaving you overwhelmed by options that in an hour feel redundant. The worst is the visualization, ok that space is dark but you can almost see no color, ships all look the same from a higher perspective, weapons do not feel unique, the game does not convey information in an easy way, if you want to play well, half of the game is just checking numbers.

This game is made for people who already understand how Battlefleet Gothic is supposed to be played. There are no tutorials for what ship classes are good for what roles, why you'd pick certain ships over others, what effective strategies are or how to play to a faction's strengths. It relies entirely on you peering at tiny UI elements and status icons to figure out what is going on and what is effective. I can't reccomend this game for anyone who doesn't already understand the tabletop game.

Purchased it on sale. It crashed several times when I tried to start it. Updated some things, restarted it, and gave up on finishing the tutorial mission (honestly, the tutorial mission crashes the game?), got to play for a few hours. Come back the next day and a forced update has it crashing a minute or two into a mission several times. I hate giving bad reviews, but this game has been out long enough that it should not be so unstable and crash so frequently.

Its very good.
Likely the best Rts space combat game since perhaps Nexus : the jupiter incident with a very cool new lore (imperium) story set around the aftermat of the fall of Cadia and the return of Guilliman you even eventually get to use lord commander ultra smurf and his ship in your fleets if you do some side story stuff.
Its also beautiful to watch the ships fight everything is just very warhammer 40k that flying cathedral in space with giant guns feel nearly perfect presentation but no joke This is likely the longest game ever made by man im not even joking when i say the imperial campaign alone is longer than red dead redemption 2 even if you piss about on your horse hunting and what not it might be a little to long in the end and thats only 1 of 4 campaigns so it might be the 40th Millennium before you can complete this game in its entirety but if you have the time it is worth it.

Grimdark setting? Check
Space fleet simulation? Check
Strategy RTS? Check
The only Total Warish 40k game? Check

This game is absolutely awesome. The only gripe I have with it is the lack of a multiplayer community, which depreciates all the race options. You really can only enjoy 3 main factions (not including the dlc) if you are looking for immersion.

But even then, this game is a definite bang for your buck with the amount of hours you will sink in. I highly recommend it for those looking for another version of 40 RTS gameplay.

Don't bother if you have no sense of tactics.

Although it is a good game, and I did enjoy the Imperial navy campaign and the return of Admiral Spire - the rest of the campaigns were rather dull and the there was a huge step back tactically from Battlefleet gothic 1, where you could upgrade invididual crew members and ships could earn up to ten experience levels instead of just 4 in Battlefleet 2 and ships could have as many as 21 individual upgrades compared to Battlefleets only 15 upgrades.

Still it is a good game, but I would recommend playing Battlefleet 2 first and then playing the much better Battlefleet Gothic afterwards.

Also - Whoever thought that victory points missions was a good game idea for campaign can burn in the fires of the warp.

Okay, there are some issues, but still... when you manage to flank the enemy flagship, crack it up with an entire swarm of torpedoes and the ram the living s*** out of it, it's sorta orgasmic :)
7/10 if you're a casual, 9/10 if you love Warhammer.

Starts out absolutely fantastic! But then you get to the part with the Tyranids and you are just kiting them for 30-45 minutes (Average battle time is usually around 7-15 minutes with other factions) because that is the only viable strategy as their ships can basically kill the crews of all your ships with their super duper ultra boarding actions, plus their giant big boi ships have shields, decent ranged damage, stupid high regenerating health and a bunch of fighters.. So if you are a fan of dragged out boring battles where you kite an enemy for half an hour, slowly killing their ships one by one, hoping to dear god you don't accidentally let one of your ships go close enough for them to lick it and then insta-kill the crew, then this is definitely the game for you. However, if the corona virus isn't giving you a large chunk of time off from work then this game is not a good investment, and I don't think I could recommend it to the common player.

Update: I played the game again a different day after being calm. I can confirm my rant is still completely correct.

For those of you with a nonpowerful computer, steer clear, this thing is to heavy on the graphics card and you will lag incredibly badly to the point of unplayablity.

Call me a casual, but I have only been able to enjoy the campaign on easy. Even normal difficulty felt too grindy. Necrons felt badass and overpowering, as they should be. Especially during the campaign finale. I mostly wanted a Tau campaign, which isn't in the game as of yet. Hoping that comes some time soon. I would rate this 7 or 8 out of 10. Please make a Tau campaign!!!! =)

Story is nice, atmosphere is nice, cutscene is nice, battle looks amazing, personally loved the voice acting and the writings...But campaign map play incredibly boring and quickly becomes a chore.

This Game is pretty bad ass.

Me and my friend have been looking for a game we could play coop campaign, after we have completed DoW2 somewhere between 100 and a million times. We are completely sold on the 40k universe and this game checks all the boxes, almost.

pros.
1. game play is solid.
2. story and lore is really great.
3. sound and music is class.
4.you can completely customize the difficulty.
5.game does not require a power house of a computer to run so most people can game.

cons.
1. whoever creates the game has certain rights like upgrading your fleets that the other player does not have.
2. there is sort of a tutorial when you play imperium that you have to go through every time you start a new game as them. (like Dow2) annoying but...
3.would like to be able to customize my ship.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who would listen.
thanks for you time and have a nice one. cheers.

This game is an interesting take on ship-to-ship combat. After playing many star strategy games, where fleets just bang on each other and have shields and hit points, this game is pretty neat. Ships have actual systems that can be damaged or destroyed and they lose functionality in the process.

I played it on release and I think the devs have managed to improve on things, not that it was a bad game, it was just quite repetitive. Still, it is a fun game for ship tactical combat.

I do play on super slow so I get a lot of time out of this game. I have recently been playing it again since I never finished any of the campaigns.

I've played both Gothic Armada games, and I definitely give it a 8/10. Admittedly, I am bias to this as I am a W40K fan. I have been since rogue trader was a thing, back when dreadnoughts looked like tin cans. Any way, the graphics are well established, the voice samples are well done and there is more meat on the bone in terms of story compared to the first game. The game play is simple to learn and the controls are easily mastered. It has a few broken elements like the tyranids charge. As well as the AI seems to track your ships even if you keep them remaining hidden. I've also come across save file corrruption forcing me to go back a few saves. Despite this when I weigh it up against the hours of fun I've had. It's a solid game, in that its entertaining and the missions although similar, now have environmental effects that change the dynamic of the game.

Fleet management is rather awkward. Captains come with their own pre-selected ship, which is annoying if you want them using something else. The ships are also pre-configured. You don't get to craft your own designs. Instead, you have to tediously search through and compare multiple slight variations to figure out the one you want to get. You also can't modify your existing ships. Want long range guns for those obnoxious elves? You'll have to scrap a fleet and rebuild from scratch to get them.

I really like Warhammer 40K and RTS but this game was ponderous with not very much depth in mechanics or variety. Gaming quickly became a chore and failed to grip my imagination. After some hours I am simply bored and there are too many other better games out there instead of keep grinding in this one.

Great game based on a fantastic lore of a fascinating science fantasy universe.
Good graphics, game play is solid and with immersive RTS battles using a turn based campaign map.
Voice acting is also quite impressive especially for such a relative small budget developer.
The game has also been extensively patched and all balance issues in the single player mode have been fixed.

So prior to my purchase I have a good amount of game time with Homeworld. Just an hour into the game... THIS GAME IS HOMEWORLD ON STEROIDS. THE ATMOSPHERE, THE MUSIC, THE VOICE ACTING, THE ARTWORK... EVERYTHING IS INSANE.

10/10 WOULD BLOW THINGS UP IN SPACE.
