About the Game

Isle of Siptah is a massive expansion to the open world survival game Conan Exiles, featuring a vast new island to explore, huge and vile new creatures to slay, new building sets and a host of new features. Fight the elder races in new underground dungeons. Defeat demonic monstrosities that spawn from a storm of pure chaos. Dominate the surge to capture powerful thralls summoned from the mainland.

You arrive at the island shipwrecked and alone. With nothing but the scraps on your back, you craft the tools you need to survive. At first a simple camp and some crude stone tools, with time a fortress and brutal greatswords made from hardened steel or obsidian.

Your eyes are drawn towards the center of the island, where a dark tower looms above the landscape. The violent storm that swirls around it seems to gather strength and unspeakable horrors stalk within. But your most dangerous foe may be the other survivors on the island, as resources are scarce and the fight for survival is savage and brutal.

Start a fresh, new experience on the massive Isle of Siptah. Explore sun-drenched beaches strewn with shipwrecks, dense and tall Redwood forests, broad valleys dotted with ancient Acheronian ruins, a resettled Stygian colony, ominous camps overrun with pirates and the foreboding Tower of Siptah at the island?s center.

Uncover long-forgotten vaults holding the remnants of elder races from a distant past. Discover hidden halls, solve ancient puzzles, and slay the fiends and demons within. Loot valuable treasures and harness the power of the elder races.

A massive storm swirls around the dark tower at the center of the island. Powered by sinister magic, it spawns horrifying monsters from the outer void, attacking anyone who dares to venture within. Defeat these horrors to get your hands on a brand-new resource and unique rewards.

Powerful surges of forbidden magic, granted by the elder god of Nyarlathotep, shoot forth from the Tower of Siptah. Humans and creatures appear in their wake, mysteriously teleported from the outside world. Move quick to capture them or be left in the dust as other players build their army.

Charge into battle and slay your enemies from atop the ferocious rhino mount. Construct a small home or a vast city using two new building sets: the waterlogged remains of shipwrecks or the ancient and majestic stormglass. Find and equip powerful items, including new armor sets, tools and weapons.

Ich kann nur hoffen, das noch mehr kommt;

funcom is just a mess.... they keep pumping dlcs while the coregame is a mess. Some of the core mechanics never worked since release. Raiding is easy as hell there is no offlineraid protection and building a safe base is impossible. Undermesh is still an issue and so is maxing out all statpoints since the beginning of the game and dont get even started on duping items and all the other bugs...

Muss man mögen.

This will be a in Depth-ReviewPro's-New worldcool looking-stormssound FX are nicely done.-npc can drop by storms-big tree areassome few new materialsCons:-No towns-barely any NPC-The world feels dead-Is just a third of Size to the original map (very dissapointing)--in some areas you have like tigers, skelletons etc. like only 15 meters away.-Hard to fight only one species (probably the cuz the map is so small)- Lots of animals are not inside like in the vanilla map.- could be usable for PvP but then again it's like monkeys that discovered fire ( ppl hitting each other and planning to kill others without any tactic or skills)- 61 gb download, for such a small map? you cheap f*** <3 :DConclusion: I'd love for the developers to upgrade the map, seriously i've seen modders build worlds in only weeks, 4-5 times as big as in this DLC. They got a bit lazy with this. Even though it's only *beta*, that doesen't mean to only build such a small world, that only has 2 biomes ( sand on the outside of the map and green inside ). They advatised its a giant new map, yet it's only 1 / 3 of the vanilla map. Snow and Jungle bioms would be dope!New storm looks nice though, i give them a lot of credit for some of the very beautifull places. I dont want to bash this new project, i really love this Idea! its also cool that you can spawn on 4 different places if you die (a pop up window will appear which lets you allow where to spawn.)I think that map could be very expandable, then we could share those mobs in areas a bit more like in the vanilla version. Because if 40 people are in 1 server like it is now, you probably can't spit without hitting a building by players every 50 meters. It lags in variety, it will be boring quite fast.

The map is more PVP oriented than the Exiled Land, but I like it even playing on single player. There's plenty of wide & flat spaces to build castle bases. The one issue about this map is that the shadows being too dark; even on broad daylight it's dark. You have to pull out your torch at day kinda dark.

Same review i left on Conan Exiles...

GREAT DLC, but fix the buggy fucking mess that is everything with this game, it's fun, beautiful, awesome, interesting and everything.

But whats fun with combat is fucked up with teleporting enemys and them hitting you from twenty feet away, whats good about dungeons is broken by Enemies 1 shotting you in heavy armor with a shield up and server settings made so they do 50% less damage. I wanna love this and I wanna sink another 500 hours in, but when it's so frustrating i wanna put holes in my wall dying to BS glitchy mechanics for the 40,000 time... naw man, quit being money hungry assholes and spend sometime on QoL changes

What is this? Half of dlc?
Unnecessary loss of money until they make it complete.
All complete dungeon armor set's, crafting.. etc ..
It's not bad, but it still needs work, lot of work..

This expansion is a hollow version of the original. TERRIBLE PVE. I play Conan for the boss fights, and the world. There is nothing interesting in the world to see. No giant hands over rivers with a suicide ghost, no forest of frozen trees with human faces, no volcanos, no ice biomes, no heart. Just a simple copy paste of assets with some new weapons. If you play Conan for the PVE and survival experience, then do not by this game.

Its fun. I've enjoyed playing on it. Needs some balancing. Enemies become pathetically easy really fast. A lot of important bosses and 'powerful' enemies are just big punching bags while others seemingly random world bosses are unstoppable killing machines (cough cough white tiger). You can kill almost any enemy in the game within a few hours of playing. But every so often a purge will spawn just right, or a boss will pose a real threat, and thats when this game really shines. Making this game so much better would be so easy and im sure it will get better, as the devs seem very active and supportive.

Okay so you played the base game and wonder if you should get the Isle of Siptah DLC. I would say depends on the game mode you play. Before you even start, I strongly suggest you begin understanding the game first on the Base Exile Map. If you prefer PVE, then it might be okay to get this DLC as there are great new concepts added to the game here. Detailed Vaults, Summoning the surge, exploring the southern islands, and so on.
If you play full PVP, then I would not recommend this. Map is considerably smaller and all of the mentioned stuff to do in the previous paragraph, you will most likely will not be able to do in full PVP. Surge is one great example, announces to the server of the event making your grind a potential waste of time.
Bottom line, PVE go ahead, PVP dont. Server transfer can be useful in bringing Siptah only items to Exile Lands.

I wish there was more than just a thumbs up/down option. I don't actively dislike this DLC, I just don't find it all that compelling. There isn't much to explore and I'm not that into PVP. Even the PVE is uneven. In starting areas you can run into some very tough creatures.

Resource distribution is odd. I haven't really figured it out but you can stumble on things that are high end materials in the base game on your first day.

The dungeons are brutal. You have to have made some good progress with your level and equipment before trying them. This is only really a problem because of my first comment: It's not that compelling a place to explore and play.

I do like the new building sets. I agree with the reviewer that said it is nice to see something that looks more like a survival game

If I had more than the yes/no option I would give this DLC a C+. Not feeling buyers remorse, but glad I waited for it to be on sale.

Loved the base game. Disappointed by Siptah. It feels very much like it is still in development. There's a lot of potential to be had, but feels very empty/repetitive, as if its just a framework waiting to be built upon (a lot of unique locations with seemingly little/nothing to do in them). In comparison to the Exiled Lands, Siptah has practically no variety whatsoever. It's fun for a few hours, but not much more then that, not worth €19.99 IMO.

Honestly, if you want the building pieces and armor and what not, go for it.

However, the map of Siptah itself is rather pointless. There is an immense lack of direction, lack of plot, lack of anything really. It looks pretty, but that's all I can really say about it. Other than that, it's your standard survival map.

But this is Conan! The Exiled Lands ooze with stories and excitement, so much to delve into. The Isle is just an empty husk that you could put anywhere. The Exiled Lands are iconic, while Siptah is a molded product.

You're not missing out on much if you skip out on this DLC, best to just stick to the base game or mod if you're hankering for more.

Been playing Siptah since the release and I love the big trees and creeks around the eastern part of the map. The west still feels about like the highlands in exiles which isn't a bad thing because it is my favorite location on exiles. Now the pros and cons I feel in Siptah.
PROS:
- The design and graphic of the entire map is so eye pleasing and gives more options to build up into the trees.
- The maelstrom in the middle is a change from the sandstorm and I love the random creatures that spawn in there. The sandstorm in exiles was missing that.
- The new NPC camps are nice to have to bring the map to life.

CONS:
- All the resources are so close together that you don't have to go far to get them like you do in exiles. Part of the fun is traveling through different areas to get to the resource you need. For example going to the north for Black ice.
- The enemies / NPCs did feel a bit easy to kill for me.
- I miss the surges. Yes the camps are nice, but i think we could have had both still in there. same amount of surge there was before, but less camps. The camps kinda feel like the exiles map, but smaller and re skinned.
- Siptah also has the same issue as exiles. There is nothing to fear once you hit 60. (unless you on a pvp server of course)

Overall my Siptah experience had been pretty good and for the price is it a worth looking into. It is a builders paradise and for sure a PVPers dream. so you have the best of both worlds. RP not so much.

This is NOT the map you want to play. The building tile set is nice but pretty much everything about this map is unfinished, unpolished and poorly designed. All the vaults are the same tile set, boring and grindy. Maybe play the savage frontiers mod if you want a new map.

Conan is one of my favourtie, if not my favourtie, survival game. It's not because I am a hardcore conan fan, but because the setting and the immersion the game provides hits just right. The setting of this map is even better than the first, with the biomes still being fairly diverse but I prefer the theme of plains and forests and the biomes seem to blend better. The new building pieces are also pretty neat, filling some gaps that I felt the building sets had.

The basic mechanics of the map differ to the original map, which is nice to see a change in the formula. It boils down to farming bosses to eventually summon waves of enemies which you can take as thralls. You can then use these thralls to do the usual conan stuff and build up your base and rinse repeat at maybe a higher level.

This sounds great and I think it's a really nice game play loop that improves on the original. For me though (as a mainly PvE player) the major problem I feel this has caused is that the bosses are not as immersive as the original map. Before you would be out and about and stumble across areas that may or may not contain a boss. In this map the bosses are mostly in these large 'vaults'. Essentially dungeons, but they look pretty much the same from the outside and it gives a bit of a copy paste feel. I miss the thematic and crafted 'boss' areas. I know, there's still bosses, but the way they are implemented, for me it just takes a little bit away from the appeal the first map had.

For PvP this map is probably really fun, because the vaults and the areas where the surges/summons happen would be hotly contested and I think it's something that the PvP players really needed, more structure and purpose to the PvP. For PvE, eh it's still a beautiful map and has a LOAD of really cool places to build but it just lacks that something for me.

I'd still recommend adding this though, it's worth the hours it will give you and it's a refreshing change to the usual scenery and game play. I'm enjoying it though and I am happy to see that funcom are trying to give PvP players a more solid experience.

Isle of Siptah might have been a great expansion if it weren't for an number of bugs that make playing the game completely futile. For example: followers (which are essential to do end-game content) refuse to follow under a number of conditions. But more importantly: recipes that take tons of time and effort to gather spontaneously vanish from your feats. Some of the recipes take hours (if not days) to obtain. A bug that erases player progress makes a game a pointless exercise - but it seems Funcom doesn't care. The bug has been here for over a month and I expect it will be there until autumn, maybe even longer. This expansion is broken. Don't buy it and more importantly: don't invest time in it, because your progress will just be deleted.

I've seen a lot of poor reviews, but I am not sure why. The map seems well-sized for an expansion, the 'theme' is interesting, and the adventures continue. I've spent about a dozen hours at the time of this review and still have most of the map to explore, and have only scratched the surface of the overarching plot/quest...

So, I didn't want to review the new Isle of Siptah map for the simple reason that it was in Early Access the past year. Now that it has received some substantial updates and changes, I believe I am ready to finally give my review.

Originally, the game launched with thralls be a bit difficult to come by in terms of T4. Those only coming from the Leyshrines when activated and even then, seemed to be extremely rare. Now, the map has changed quite a bit and instead of wild surges dropping T1-T3 thralls, Funcom has opted to replace certain areas of the map with the traditional NPC camps you would find on the Conan Exiles map. Thus making it much easier for solo or smaller clans to acquire T4 thralls.

They also made the Vaults slightly more difficult and some a lot more difficult. Speaking about the Bird Vaults and their ability to 1-2 shot even max level and geared players. Yes, those vaults are a lot more challenging now.

The map also received some additional land mass in the form of 2 connected island formations along the southern border. I can only assume we will see more of this in the future if Conan Exile expansions are any indication. As it is now, there's plenty of new content to resemble that of the original Conan Exiles map now. Unfortunately, the map isn't large enough to warrant the implementation of the famed Obelisk and Map Room teleportation we had on Conan Exiles. So expect to do all your traversing on foot or mount.

We also got the new Spider religion recently as well, which makes 7 usable religions plus Crom for a total of 8 religions now.

On release it was pretty empty and seemed quite PvP focused, which was cool if you like that. I prefer PVE and recently they have added a huge amount of PvE content and extended the map. It certainly made it feel like almost a completely new release.

If you were turned off at the early access release and wished there was more to it, i'd say now is the time for a second look.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah
----------------------------------
Expantion DLC to Conan Exiles
Base game is already a blast to play. With tons of armor, weapons, locations, dungeons and a small story.
Now comes Isle of Siptah, a dlc/expantion that released with some weird ideas and issues.

Well, Funcom did listen. Changing Isle of Siptah to a actual new map with new enemies, locations more armor and weapons even a new god has been added.

Its still in EA and is showing to be a great extra experience to the already great main game.
I was dissapointed with the original release of the DLC, but after its latest new update for siptah i was suprised.

the new dungeons, locations and enemies are great to find. they suprised me. Ogre like creatures and more.
If you like Conan Exiles, then dont hesitate. Isle of Siptah is more conan exiles.

A fun experience !

I have never played any other game run by such a tragically incompetent company. The game has a lot going for it, but if you fall in love with it you are in for unending frustration and despair as you watch Funcom constantly break the game. The buggy patches they release reveal that their developers are incompetent and their project managers (if they even have any) have no process for quality control. Early Access is no excuse at all for the amount of bugs they release as they are also inflicting the majority of these bugs on the base game which has been released for several years now. For every bug they fix they introduce several more, often worse bugs. They have no sense of urgency for game-breaking bugs, they let them fester for months and even years at a time. For six months I've watched the game get worse with every patch to the point I have no desire to play it anymore. This is a game with great potential but it's clear the only hope for it is that Funcom collapses and some company with a competent team takes it over.

By far the best survival / exploration game out there. Compared to the other titles, Conan Exiles is full of character and comes across as an RPG-inspired take on the genre. The game has improved dramatically since launch and the devs seem to be listening to feedback.

The 2.3 update completely overhauled the Isle of Siptah expansion based on players' comments. The progression on the island is much smoother now, with more attention to endgame content. Definitely worth a pickup.

I made a review on the base game before the release of Siptah and bought Siptah day one, and now with a bit of time into the map I can say I really enjoy it :D I think it could use a bit more optimization, but as someone with 10k+ Hours in Conan Exiles it's a refreshing change to the regular gameplay of the Exiled Lands. It is a bit tougher but I think that's just a fun challenge that makes it more exciting, even if it sometimes seems like a entirely different game at times :D I'm pretty much in love with it and highly recommend this DLC to others, there are so many pretty places on the map and the lighting is beautiful. The Volumeric fog gives a nice atmospheric edition that just ties in both this beauty and this kinda gloomy feeling, as this island has some horrifying secrets along with the beautiful scenery if you delve deep enough to discover! As the development furthers and the devs listen to the feedback I am excited to discover more on Siptah, so far I've enjoyed this new experience and can't wait to dig into it more!

Its a pretty bad and boring expansion and very, very PvP orientated. I regret buying it, personally.

The changes they have planned for it in the coming patches don't sound particularly good either and most seem like they are being implemented to please the PvP crowd. They also made some horrendous changes with this DLC to general systems like healing and the usefulness of named thrall hunting (which is no longer worthwhile) which are apparently not going to be improved - in fact they are due to get worse.

All in all I'd refund it if I could. Its certainly not worth nearly £20. Very disappointing.

Sad day. Conan Exiles is one of my favorite games-played for years on ps4, but Siptah and the separate map make me feel like I am forced to give up my traditional game and character in order to explore the new area. I hate it. Siptah is empty and weird. So disappointed. There is a ton of room for new exploration and content on the original map. Siptah is basically a NEW sequel game (Conan II) and I don't know why they want to punish classic players and deny us any new content for Conan Exiles 1. I am sad that I spent money on this PC version just to play Siptah, and I hope the changes they plan to implement make it worth playing someday.

I love Conan Exiles but dislike Isles of Siptah. Seems like yet another attempt by a company to cash in on the trending battle royale BS instead of focusing on what made their game great to begin with. All the time that was wasted on Siptah should have been put back into Exiles.

One of the reviews I read said the map is nearly as large of Exiles. No, it is about 1/4 smaller, and the way it is designed makes it seem much less than that. You will most likely only use 1/2 of the map and there is no point to the other side opposite from where you start, outside of PVP.

Early impression:
New map that seems to be to small on it's own, which it appears to be. If I could travel between the main map and this island, it would be acceptable, but right now I don't see much of a point in creating a character for just this map. The Island is also very bleak and bland, while I really enjoyed all the colour and feeling of the main map. Honestly, I am probably not even gonna finish exploring it, just going back to building new bases on the vanilla map.

-Yours truly

My friends and I played heavily on a server for Isle of Siptah for a week or so. By the time I had a solid grasp on the gameplay loop I found myself extremely bored. We ended up starting a server on the original map, which I had no played more than a few hours. The difference between the two is extreme. Siptah is complete trash by comparison. The time invested into development on it would have seen a far better investment if it was put into the base games expansion. I understand the desire to present a greater PvP experience, but this was not the way.
As for the games as a whole, my largest complaint is that buildings don't have a better upgrade system that doesn't involve just overwriting the originals. I would highly suggest they look into how other games have handled this. Namely 7 Days. It makes for much smoother progression and is highly convenient.

Let's start saying I've really liked Conan Exiles and it's a great game. I've also bought and appreciated a couple of DLCs and my opinion is very good. But this DLC is just horrible! The world is empty and ugly, boring. Not much words to describe this as there is not much to describe. Just play the original map and let's pretend Islah of Siptah never happened.

Not really a fun world to play. you took away the benefits of some perks, IE: eating food. made the only way to heal bandages or potions, dumb. Changed a whole lot of things that didnt need to be changed in crafting. You should have left the original game alone and modified Siptah since the worlds dont connect anyway. Conan was my go to game, now im done with it, hate the new changes, its a disaster.

The Isle is small and looks very dreary. I found only one beautiful special place. Except of a few dungeons there is nothing to explore.
Crafting gets boring fast because you always built the same type of items, no variety. Most of them you have to buy with money, DLCs within a DLC. Aside from that it takes an eternity until the items are ready.

PVP is like in almost every competitive game these days: If your enemy has a 100 % win chance, be sure they will attack you. If it would be a well-balanced fight with 50 % win chance, be sure they run away like chicken.
But hey, I met some respectful and helpful players too.
In Conan Exiles you don't need skill to win, you just have to play a lot and level up so you have more attributes and better equipment then your opponent.

Oh and I don't know if the game has more bugs or more hacker.

The base game of Conan Exiles is far from perfect, but I enjoyed the journey very much. Isle of Siptah otherwise was disappointing. Instead of adding interesting new features they made it worse.

Terrible. Funcom lost there minds when they made this and obviously no one with any common sense played this before they released it. Seriously, no thralls camps, a new much smaller map, a fat slow new mount, go ahead and just start over its fun, no sorcery unless you consider random thralls falling out of the sky sorcery. There are downloadable mods which give you new and far better content then this. Absolute disappointment.

I rated the base game as positive because I have over 2k hours in it. CE used to be my favorite game. However with the addition of this expansion I quit the game and will likely never come back.

Funcom has a horrible track record of making their games worse and worse with changes to game mechanics that were never asked for and not needed.

Now with this particular xpac they essentially ruined the lore of the game. The Vaults are generic and too easy. The maelstrom effectively blocks a huge portion of the map from building on. Oh and don't even think about playing this map if you don't want to grind forever. Are you solo? Then forget about it!

Also the changes to the healing system make combat unnecessarily tedious. Basically after this xpac the game became an unfun grindfest. This coupled with existing bugs to the base game which haven't been fixed make playing it the equivalent to bashing one's head against a wall repeatedly.

Even now after having not played for months and months I am still upset about how ruined the game is. Additionally Funcom has continued to make the game egregiously tedious with added updates since then. My advice.....

STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

Ok, so normally I try not to do early access reviews, cause, you know it’s not finished yet. I enjoyed my time in the exiled lines, I really really tried to enjoy Island of Siptah, but I think the core design decisions here only serve to shed light on some of the core games bigger flaws.

Namely the Thrall system and playing the game in single player. One of the biggest problems is that in an attempt to get those thralls you want you often have to fight multiple npcs at once, killing is easy, knocking out is hard, especially if you have to fight multiple npcs and once and risk killing that thrall you wanted.

I think Funcom made some additional missteps in there constant need to make every “balanced” for multiplayer especially in recent updates, they’ve made certain aspects of the single player game next to impossible to do in single player, such as capturing high level thralls. It’s difficult to get the higher level resources you need without at least a tier II alchemist, and alchemist can be some of the hardest thralls to obtain.

They tried to fix this by making lower tier thralls actually worth capturing but in doing so added more feats that players have to spend their points on great for specializing in multiplayer, not so great for single player since your capped at 60 and its guaranteed you will NOT have enough feat points to cover most of the things you want at that level. This can be fixed by a level expanding mod, but mods should be created to add more content to the game, not to make the game playable in a certain mode.

So what does this have to do with Island of Siptah, well see they decided to take the thralls tied to certain locations, and tie them to events called storm surges, which spill out thralls at random. Also all those recipes you found in certain locations in the Exiled lands are now found on random npcs and random chests in vaults. This causes several problems, it means even more grinding for random crap, more frustration in capturing thralls now that EVERYTHING about that is randomized, and gives you less incentive to explore any of the locals on the island, the few that there are.

You can kinda control which kinds of npcs spawn at these things known as leyshrines, but there is no guarantee you’ll get a thrall you want. Also to grind at those is something as a catch 22, cause you have to enter maelstroms to get the resources you need to power the shrines, see to enter those you need good equipment, which can be hard to get if you haven’t done some grinding in the maelstrom.

Finally there is this odd mechanic that to get the really high tier maelstrom bosses to appear you need to build in the maelstrom. I applaud Funcom’s attempt to get people to build bigger and better bases, but who is going to want to build a base where there is one, few trees to harvest wood, two you get constantly attacked at any of the places you can harvest resources, and three you get constantly attacked in the place your trying to build your house, and that’s when the Malestrom ISN’T happening.

I would love to be proven wrong in latter builds of the dlc I really would, but I just see to many core development decisions that look better on paper then applied in actual execution with this kind of game. Not recommended.

They should have improved the base map, instead of this new one that is bad and increase the game size by 40 go

Like everyone else, I was excited to see a new map, but the novelty wore off pretty fast. Hopefully, the full release has some changes because the current version is lacking in a lot of areas.

Pros:
Beautiful scenery as always
The flotsam structures have a great look to them, and they're tier 1 that's not sandstone, which most private servers restricted.
I do like the maelstrom mechanic, but it seems to rotate too frequently. I assume that's controlled by a setting when the world is made.

Cons:
No mods.. or at least not that I've seen yet. I loved playing on mod servers in the regular map, they added a huge amount of end-game content. Hopefully these will come with time.

Transportation if very limited, to boots or horse. This makes some resources a pita to get. For example, if you set up camp in the NW, be prepared to travel 1/3 of the map just to get gossamer for a bowstring. The map is screaming for some form of fast travel.

On a related note, the resources... there are very few areas that have access to all the mid-game materials. I found a few good spots, but they are few and far between. Now, I don't expect the high-grade mats to be easy to get, going to the center for star metal is appropriate, but I shouldn't have to travel half the map and spend hours just to get something like silver.

Purge system is missing, Since I don't do PvP, what's the point of making a fortress if nothing is going to attack it?

The thrall system is pathetic... You'd better build right next to one of the cyclones spawn points, or you might never see better than a tier II. even after doing so, the highest I've ever seen is a few tier IIIs, and only one of them was useful. You can't even camp an area and kill til respawns pop, because you clear out one cyclone, and the next one is a mile away.

One other thing that kinda bothered me was the starting beaches... You collect a few things, make your first weapon and go to explore the world... where you are confronted by many aggressive German Shepherds? Seriously? In all the Conan books, how many German Shepherds did he slay?

Given all that and more, I cannot recommend this game at this time.

First, I would like to say I don't write too many reviews but felt compelled to do so here.

I run a fairly large and active roleplay community for Conan. It is absolutely clear to me and a majority of our members that Funcom does not see the RP community as worthy of interest or investment even though battle metrics consistently shows that 8 out of the top 10 servers as roleplay servers, beating out almost all of officials. Seems lessons cannot be learned from GTA where the RP community has kept the game alive well past its expiration date.

It's not clear to me or others I've discussed with what the mindset of the game director is. Seems to me that they want to make conan more of a battle royale type game than what it was in it's original intent which was survival/builder.

I have almost 3000 hours in this game, some of our members have over 6000 hours. This is due to roleplay adding varying content Funcom couldn't imagine.

Before finding an RP community, I had 100 hours and lost interest in the game fairly quickly. Hardcore official pvp servers get stale, have a good bit of toxicity, and don't really have lasting communities that stick to the game. Without RP, I would have shelved Conan long ago.

The Siptah map was a huge disappointment. As other reviews have pointed out, it's smaller than exiled lands map and approximately 2/3rds of the map is unable to be used to construct bases.

Biomes are small and unimaginative with the most interesting parts being coastlines that you cannot build in.

Since a good amount of the roleplay servers are heavily modded, most using Age of Calamitous in particular, the mechanics for Siptah thralls are irrelevant and a much unneeded grind. I imagine it's still a grind no one wanted in any event.

Resources are grouped up around the dungeons with no particular biome to house them, the most rare (black ice and obsidian) being in the middle make it an uninteresting chore if PVP is not the main focus.

What we wanted was more places to explore and settings to build in. What we got was a smaller rehashed map with only about 1/3 of it being usable for base building. Lack of thralls and POIs with people make the map feel lifeless and void with no real interesting features other than animals and not much of an immersive world.

In all honesty considering the base game is currently reverting to Early Access and going in some random direction decided by... Well thats the thing, alot of decisions both in game and by the company are so completely and utterly stupid that no one knows where they come from cos it sure wasnt from a majority of the player base... obviously someone at Funcom is incompetent nitwit and doesn't understand the bare minimum about either business or game design.

Would not trust Funcom to release this as an actual full release game, it will be the same as the base game currently, sold as full release with a full price but actually runs like an Early Access buggy mess.

Would recommend to play 7 Days to Die who while still in early access and probably always will be, the company actually gives a shit. Ark even, got its issues but at this point yeah still 10x better... Heck go play Dark & Light even abandoned in Early Access it has less bugs, exploits and issues than Conan currently.

On a side note: While this was later addressed and changed, Funcom basically blamed players for the recent issues. Enough players didnt buy the game and then take the time out of their day to join the buggy mess in testlive and provide feedback and find bugs for them. Of course many players reported many issues in previous updates which then got pushed to the live version without being fixed but yes Funcom please continue to blame everything and everyone else for YOUR incompetence. Way to make your players feel underappreciated, ignored or just plain guiltripped. This update should not have even made it to testlive if you have any type of testing there because some of the bugs and issues were so godamn blaringly obvious they couldnt have possibly been missed even by a brand new player with no knowledge of the game. GG Funcom, GG.

Offline Solo player here: HUGE new world to explore, and I am LOVING it. I haven't made it into the maelstrom yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to fighting eldritch horrors. Thralls are definitely harder to come by, and the world does feel a bit lonely. But LYNXES OMG THESE GUYS ARE CUUUUTE! (They will kick your butt at first.)

IMPORTANT: If you're an offline/solo player like me: THIS WILL NOT DELETE YOUR EXILED LANDS SAVE GAME!!! You get a second local save for the expansion. This was a HUGE worry for me, and my biggest criticism of the base game was not being able to have multiple save games.

For me, it's definitely worth it because my favorite aspect about these games is exploration and discovery. I ran out of steam on the base game because there wasn't anything left to explore and discover. Now I'm back in a game that I absolutely LOVE, and I'm so happy.

Map feels empty. They should just focus on the classic map, that one is much better and immersive.

EDIT after Dev answer:

1. Base game is full of bugs, unbalances and exploits.
2. Official servers are full of exploiters, cheaters and griefers.
3. Server population on official servers is VERY low.

So, taking into account these 3 points... why focus on creating a new map full of RNG and grind when the base game has A LOT of things to polish, balance and fix?
I will clearly not play Siptah, because it totally derails from why I play Conan (clearly NOT to play an RNG roulette).
Thank you for such a great game, but it's sad the state in which you are leaving it. And already wanting to develop a DUNE game? Why? Because a movie is coming out and you want to milk people from their money because of trends? Clearly a game that I won't buy, unless you fix Conan Exiles and give us a precedent that you listen to your customers and fix the real problems.

Oh, and BTW, I know there's more money in Asia because there is more population... but you should create a new game with that target if you want to go into that market. I didn't buy Conan Exiles to play some heavy grind game with lots of RNG (just what Asians love and what you did with Siptah to appeal to that market).

There are many ways to enjoy Conan. I love building and exploration, either solo or in a small group. I am not a huge fan of PVP though - there are other games, where I enjoy PVP more. This is why I am not massively impressed with Siptah: it has been designed as a large PVP arena, with little to offer in terms of exploration. There is a limited number of tediously grindy, repetitive activities - vaults, wild surges, world bosses. Ah, and there is the maelstrom too, which is the only and not so-solo-friendly way to get a t4 thrall. Not massively rewarding for a mind-numbing grind to get eldarium - a rare metal which you have to feed to some sinister looking, ancient contraptions to unleash the maelstorm, which then literally lets the hell lose upon you - a swarm of powerful bosses, which you have to kill before a number of thrall-candidates ;) falls from the sky for your pleasure. I wish that Funcom had spend the time wasted on Siptah, to enlarge the Exiles world, perhaps add more NPCs, settlements, quests and activities.
