One of the most fun adventure games I've ever played. It's a little clunky at times and frustrating at others, but overall a very satisfying game. I really wish the Divinity series had kept exploring this type of gameplay instead of taking the party and turn based direction of Original Sin. Being a freaking Dragon Knight was cool as hell. This is the Divinity game I liked the most.

Story in short:
You make mistakes and then you clean after those mistakes (fist with the dragons, then with Ygerna) but, unfortunately there is not even a fight with the main antagonist and neither side actually wins.
7/10

GAMEPLAY
İt is actuall pretty good and never bored me in the 50+ hours that I played it.
9/10

GRAPHICS
Also decent, does not look bad for a game that is a little old.
6/10

BUGS
Many bugs unfortunately, some which make the game unplayable. Especially the bugs in Aleroth (in the DLC).

Conclusion: The game is very cheap due to it being a bit old, but the amount of content you get for the price is quite good so you should definitely try it.

For years I've been staring at this game wondering if I enjoyed the Xbox 360 demo back in the day enough the purchase this NOW on PC. Well, here I am!

I'm only just under 25 hours in. At this point being, I can tell I've got a long way ahead of me, (at least another 30 hours). I'm not a huge LOTR inspired fantasy fan. So this game has certainly made me exhuasted. BUT, I DO LOVE IT!

The game has a classic story beat with dragons, wizards, and demi gods. I won't go into detail. SPOILERS, you are also a dragon. The main story itself is very short in comparison to all the side activities. Which there a lot of. I imagine right now that I've invested about 4-5 hours into the main story. And I can already feel that I'm getting close enough to right this review. The side activities have taken at least 15 hours of this playtime. And I have more or less been rushing through it all.

However unlike the main story piece. I have slowly been enjoying the side activities. The developers of this title opted to add humor for different ranges of age. Sometimes it's a little much for me. Other times it's truly a experience you won't forget soon. The voicing acting as well is pretty good. Not all great, but better than I expected.

For the gameplay you have a close to half a dozen type of classes you can explore with. This game is somewhat like the Elder Scroll titles. In such you can invest your skill point however you wish. However the game does seem to want you to mix and hybrid a bit. If you go straight Mage/fighter/archer. The gameplay IMO wont necessarily feel as rewarding at times. But try as you might I say. If not satisfied, later in the game you find a way to repec your character mostly.

Plenty of loot in the game to pick up. Not akin to Diablo, but also like it. It's also a rewarding experience to invest in enchantments, potions, and charms. Which you deal with much later in the game. The game also has a hotkey bar towards your convenience in play style.

The combat is nothing to write home about. Very simplistic, but it serves it's purpose enough to keep you in. Also your a DRAGON, which is freaking awesome. That will add new mechanics to the game play. Next is the structure of the map, missions. The game is broken into miniaturized open world area's. You'll have plenty to discover in each area. I really enjoy that this game tries to not hold your hand. From the missions, to simple exploring. You'll have to find your way. I can safely say that I've already botched a bunch of missions for various reasons. Completionist's may loath, but I love it. Gives you a sense of realism. adding on to the missions, usually you find yourself with several options with how to complete it. Sometimes you might never be aware of the extra choices. Dialogue, and a special mind reading ability you have in this game open alternatives to both the missions you discover. As well exploring.

Now with a word of WARNING. The game has a VERY slow start. The game doesn't really start to open everything up to you until about 10-15 hours in. I had so many resources in my inventory wondering when the heck I was going to use them. Eventually all of questions will be answered in time with this game. I don't want to spoil anything. The game shines more and more. The farther you push through.

I Do hope anyone who trudges through my words. decide to purchase and give the game a shot. The game has a lot of unique designs that over time get's it's hooks into you. It would take at least multiple play through's to do everything. I imagine hundreds of hours. Chances are I will return to this game after a break. I think this is one of the best RPG games I ever played. I only wish I played this as a kid. I would have easily invested hundred of hours into this then.

TLDR, GO BUY IT. give it time to sink in. Great game.

SOLUTION ON FIXING THE STUTTERING

Heres the solution for everyone, who has the same problems with ingame-stuttering like I had (The Game can run really smooth like it did on the CD-Version back in 2011).

You really need to get an fps locker !
The second problem is, that Divinity II somehow only runs smoothly on a 30 fps-lock. Or at least they sayed it in the Steam Community. After a while, I locked the game at 60 fps and still had no more problems with stuttering. I recommend you to first try it on 30 fps. If it works, play a bit and try the 60 fps later.

So what options do you have?
You can lock your fps via NVIDIA or AMD. The third (and I think best) solution is the MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner.

Somehow my freakin fps Locker from NVIDIA crashed all the time, regardless of what I tried. I could not fix it. So if you manage to lock your fps with NVIDIA its the easiest way. AMD has its own way to seperatly lock the fps of every game. Got two YT-Links on the bottom of how to lock your fps with NVIDIA or AMD (not sponsored).

So whats the conclusion I came out with? I searched in the deep of the Steam Community. And there I found the solution.
You need the MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner. It needs a few steps to get installed, so I got another YT-Link here for you (not sponsored).

MSI Afterburner + RivaTuner Tutorial

AMD Tutorial

Hope it helped you!

A game i used to play years ago, it still holds its charm well. the graphics and some of the gameplay hitches might not have aged flawlessly, but there's an obvious heart that went into making this game. from the silly dialogue you get looking at your stats, to thought out interactions between you and the npcs, affecting their relationships with one another and learning their secrets.

Without spoiling anything, I can say the game only improves with how long you put in, with the first half hour being a bit questionable, to the following 10 or so hours being pretty good, and everything after being that real rpg sauce we all love.

It was unusual for me to see Divinity II as a 3D action RPG after its isometric predecessors. However, I think Larian have made an excellent game.

Divinity II offers us a varied combat system, interesting both main and side quests, as well as some cool features like mindreading in dialogues and transforming into a dragon. Moreover, it’s impossible not to note the marvellous soundtrack that accompanies you during walkthrough (R.I.P., Kirill). Also, wherever you go, a treasure, or a riddle, or mad Bellegar waits for you.

To summarize, I advise you to give the game a chance. It’s not popular but might still interest you. I hope someday Larian will make a sequel for Divinity II, even though Original Sins (which I like too) are much more successful.

Honestly, I kinda want another game in this style or even one made by them with just the flying parts enhanced into a full game by itself. In general, it's a decent RPG romp. Man, this makes me sad now that they shifted from the dragon knight into source hunters. It seems unlikely we will ever get more of the dragon flight parts of this game with the shift to D:OS tabletop-ish style gameplay.

Divinity: Original Sin II was one of the best games I've even played, so I bought Divinity II at the ridiculously cheap price of $1.99 during sale.
Pros:

+ Well written
+ Large world
+ Save anytime...even during battles!
+ Challenging
+ Good music
+ Rewarding loot system

Cons:

- Eventually get bored
- Repetitive cave/dungeon maps and enemies
- Dragon combat
- Many unrewarding areas when in dragon form
- Basically anything Dragon related
- Your bow will disappear forever if you use Rush attack (I hot-keyed it as a number and pressed on accident a few times)

If you're an old-school gamer, you will enjoy the graphics and gameplay that are nostalgic for a certain class of games back in the day. There aren't a million maps and hand-holding-impossible-to-miss quest markers, arrows, signs, etc., but part of the fun of exploration is...exploration, not just following directions to find stuff. It can be frustrating, but is much more rewarding. Enemy difficulty spikes---which some reviewers lament...enable renewed challenges and forestall boredom of getting too OP'ed. When there are gangs of enemies you can't get through, you must lure a few away from the crowd and take them down one at a time.

So this whole dragon business...basically it's just a flying horse transport system to get you places faster. It would have been way more fun to occasionally turn into a dragon and roast a horde of enemies quickly. Dragons do play a key role in the story though.

Bottom line: Larian knows how to make good games. This one has it's share of warts, but the're far outweighed when you're getting the game practically for free at 2 bucks.

It took me a while to get into it. And several attempts.

What seem to be typical Larian motifs are present: I'ts rather pretty, the writing is often childish, and you'll have to smash millions of mostly empty containers. But this game is entertaining, and technically more competent than their CRPG titles.

Let's start with the worst you can expect:

- Pixel hunting. A minuscule cursor over minuscule hit boxes with an inconspicuous hint label hiding away from said cursor. Grabbing a key that you clearly see is often difficult, as you need a pixel precise 3D angle. Add a distant 3rd person view with no zoom capability or any smart control of the camera, add low contrast actors over the terrain, and good luck finding a human corpse on the ground or a tiny button on a wall. When you know they are there. Pixel hunting is needed to advance the main quest, several times, so I learned to get straight to a walkthrough instead of wasting my time and sight.

- Scripting. This regresses to the 80s levels of abuse, with no excuses in this day and age. Distant mobs are inactive until scripted scenes start, ignoring you and your attacks. Scripted scenes sheathe your weapon, because that's the first thing anyone would do when menaced by an enemy. You'll take 10 hits before you unsheathe. Yes, this may happen several times during the same fight, in case you were wondering. You'll watch people killing others, then running away, with your arms and legs apparently stuck inside your rectum. Scripted scenes make you leave the shadows and speak to your quarry instead of backstabbing them, which is a level of infuriating stupid I thought I had seen die with the previous century.

- Over-itemised loot. Devs don't just copy stupid tropes, they intend to outstupid them. The quantity of values to compare between each 2 similar objects... at this stage it's plain abuse. Then factor in 3 charm slots and 3 enchantment slots, because they had to include a 3rd-rate crafting system, just like every corporation does.

- Loot roulette. Not the very smart one that is seeded at the start of a game. Not the smart one that rolls objects of similar import. No, the really dumb one, which gives you either 20 gold pieces, or 25 gold pieces + a potion + a magical helmet. The one that begs for the save/reload routine. Fortunately, this should only matter in the early to mid-game, as you will drown in loot anyway and stop caring soon enough. Even the malachite veins, where you can dice roll from 0 to 3 gems each time, (the only rare ingredient in the world.) came too late for me to need them.

Other flaws are easily overlooked, and commonly found elsewhere. But this is a positive review, so I've got to mention some strengths as well:

- Save system. It goes beyond complete, as it lets you save anywhere, including mid-fights. Now this is one good side of old-school I'm happy to see alive. Rare and precious. Risky of course, but don't worry, auto-saves are there as well.

- Controls. The remapping offers a really fine grain, and allows me to set everything I need on the mouse. With the tactical pause, this truly brings the most comfortable exploration and combat short of a controller.

- Flying. Had to wait 40 hours and the second chapter for it (as for a storage chest, by the way,) and it wasn't available in the 3rd chapter either. But it's there for a good chunk of time, and it's well done with a well-designed map, and you won't find it in many games. Definitely enjoyable.

- Exploration. Very good maps, with loads of things to do in them. No mob respawns, except in the one small zone where it makes sense. Maps let you add your own notes/markers, another rare good feature. Clever double perspective for the fjords map, which you're expected to visit in both your human and dragon forms.

Feels more like a Hack n' Slash than a RPG, because quests have no effect on each other, and neither do your decisions. But it's a good Hn'S, with a lot of cosmetic variations on how you can genocide mobs. Plus there are a few cases of peaceful resolution available, so the genre is not that clear.

What is definitely well done, however, is the Chosen One trope. Although the story doesn't make a lick of sense, and the storytelling is rather... choppy, the sense of importance of the protagonist is always there, who is refreshingly and consistently addressed with respect by knights and peones alike. It's also seen in the way quests are initiated, be it by you or NPCs. Or, to end on another detail I enjoyed, in the many private conversations in the background; people gossip about you, comment on events you shaped, reveal little ripples and loose ends and whatnot.

Divinity 2 is a brilliant game. It is quite rough around the edges and the combat can sometimes feel janky but the game does so many things right and it's strength greatly outweighs it's weaknesses. Remember those times when games wouldn't hold your hand, didn't have quest markers and how you sometimes had to wait for guides to come out so you could progress? Well, divinity 2 is one of those games, albeit not as difficult as others games that fit the above description. There are many secrets, puzzles and riddles throughout the game, some really good dialogues with intelligent humour and an interesting storyline. The character customization is somewhat bare bones and there is an abundance of difficulty spikes throughout the game but nonetheless, Divinity 2 is a really good video game.

Just as I remember it. I played this game when it first released, and also FoV and DKS when it came out, I absolutely loved it, I was afraid I built it up in my head and would be dissapointed, but it's still a great game.

This is an old RPG from the time when games had a captivating story you couldn't put down, as if reading a book or watching an amazing show. The gameplay is a little clunky, yes, but that is to be expected for such an old game. It's no less clunky than fallout or the elder scrolls though.

A lot of players say there are a lot of bugs, but honestly, I haven't seen any, I do have to run in compatibility mode with Windows 7 as there is a micro stutter when walking around otherwise. Again, older game, to be expected.

The graphics in my opinion look beautiful, and the dragon form mechanics are quite interesting.

The most important is the story and all it's characters, if you really want a great story in which you can't wait to find out what happens next, I recommend this game. You will find yourself asking all the questions from the list when talking to the NPCs and not wanting to skip anything.

Shortly: Such a good, old 3D RPG this is. Aged very well and on top of everything you are the Dragon ^^ something so few games touch in the first place and even less do it well. Seems to be bug-less and works well on new systems for the most part (no issues personally but some people seem to have trouble).

On the longer side of things I can't say much storywise beside it being good due to spoilers. Suffice to say that while we do begin as actually a Dragon Slayer and get to know a bit our team in the Order we very quickly turn sides and become the last Dragon Knight. Due to things being done this way I must praise how after stopping mid-game and considering that we became a traitor to many, have to pretend to be human we're not anymore and how lonely we are in this hostile world is true marvel of immersion. Finding any ally or anyone that favors dragons is a jolt of joy. Anyone specially attached to dragons will feel double of this unique atmosphere.
Additionally the game features both seriousness and well balanced humor so shouldn't sting at all ^^. Game is divided into base game Ego Draconis and sequel expansion Flames of Vengeance.

Gameplay wise game holds itself very well. At first seems to be pushing class system but we quickly notice we can invest in any ability we want so branching builds are very much possible. Combat features nice, fluid animations and if you do swing wide you hit multiple enemies (normally I'd expect stiff, rather boring combat like in Dragon Age Origins which was also released in 2009 like this game). This is the ground part, Dragon gameplay however is kind of separate airborne part so we can't scorch ground units or even see NPCs as a dragon. Nonetheless we will use it to clear fortresses and explore due to well implemented verticality. Finally dragon controls are beyond simple to learn and use, something even modern titles struggle to do. As a dragon we also have new skill tree and can even wear special armor!

The RPG gameplay side is what can be expected from a game of its age: we will do lots of side questing, looting chests and dungeons and clean up the map from enemies to grin exp and level up. In the Expansion however enemies will respawn but this is due to setting restrictions in it. There is also a unique ability to read minds so we can discover new information about potential loot or even new solutions to resolve a quest. Some people complain that this needs our hard earned exp to use but there is enough EXP in the game to use it all the time and still hit the level cap (which is more or less lvl 35-36 in base game and 45-46 in expansion, this is not a hard cap but enemies will give accordingly too few exp to go further as level difference between you and mobs will be too big) It may end up being a little bit grindy but I've seen so much worse in so many other places.

I believe this is all worth saying about this game. It's again a great RPG that also aged very well with great story, humor and is an absolute treat for any fan of dragons ^.=.^

I was looking for something like Gothic, Risen or Elex, and this looked like it fit the bill. I had played Original Sin 2 and enjoyed it for the most part so I felt that this developer could be trusted.

Overall I was very pleased with this game. It has very high production values for its time. I didn't run into a single bug throughout my play, and got just under 70 hours for a full playthrough.

The only thing I didn't enjoy was the change of tone between regular combat and the 'boss' fights. It's like they were developed by two different teams with different ideas. Regular combat seemed much more relaxed and let you pick a style and work with it (even when fighting a group). The boss fights were chaotic and you were often just surrounded and beaten into submission. I abused the quick save function during some of the early big fights. Eventually you can make yourself so powerful, combat becomes much easier. You can also change difficulty mid game to lower it temporarily if one fight is giving you particular trouble, without it affecting the rest of the game.

Some mechanics regarding charms and enchantments could be clearer. I wish i had known that if you DISenchant an item, your enchanter LEARNS that enchantment. I thought you had to find the recipes for them all. I sold a lot of weapons with decent enchantments that were otherwise less desirable.

Overall if you like the 3rd person Action RPG genre, there is a lot to like here. Writing has a sense of humour and is well done. The quests are interesting and there is a lot of secrets if you have a keen eye. I did resort to guides a couple of times but there is plenty of info out there.

I wish there were more games like this.

Its a good game, due to age I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it though.
The story is decent enough, graphics are ok and game play was good.
I've only played a little of original sin so I have no understanding of the lore other than what I have learned in this game but am now interested in playing original sin again.

Once in 2011 I bought this game on the Xbox360 when it first was released as Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga.
My attention before buying it came from when I heard a Belgian (Gent) studio made this game.
I immediately fell in love with the game soundtrack when i first started the game.
The graphics, the gameplay and the humour made me play this game for many hours.
When i heard this game was re-released as the Developer's Cut on Steam I had to get my hands on it.
Now i'm enjoying this game like it was the first time.
It's one of my favorite RPG games ever. And in my opinion a unique one. This is a GEM.

Good advice: Save ALOT and you won't regret it, the game isn't easy

This game is charming, but a bit weird. It has a beautiful melancholic storyline mixed with morbid and cheesy humor.

Game mechanics are enjoyable, but often feel only 90% done...On the other hand it made me enjoy three playthroughs. Me and my bro bought it twice...so, it's a pretty good game, maybe?

Hope this will get a remaster someday, but I guess this won't be a dream come through.

Larian's foray into third-person RPGs has provided us with an absolutely excellent game full of their signature wit, humour, and brilliant story within the world of Rivellon.

I look forward to seeing the conclusion to Damian's story and dearly hope that Larian will consider a return the the third-person RPG genre.

Note : I actually wanted to write a review for Divinity 2 : Dragon Knight Saga which is basically the same game, I played that 74 hours so ignore the gameplay time here. That version was removed from the store so I can't review that.

So anyway, Divinity 2 is one of my all time favorite RPG games ever. From the moment I listented to the music in the menu I knew that it was gonna be worth it. You get to practice/ test all the classes at the start of the game before you pick one, the class can also be changed later in the game. There are a lot of skills that are unique in my opinion, the spell Mindread for example. It will sometimes help you, but also reveal some funny thoughts people have about you or other stuff. The game will be hard if you try to rush it to the end, but if you take your time and explore you will be rewarded. The world is enormous and extremely detailed, so make sure to keep an eye for secrets. Speaking of world, the areas are designed in such a way that it makes you think that the game is endless. You will rarely find empty areas that look bland and boring, they obviously put a lot of work in it. I also like how some areas have a completely different atmosphere, not only because of how they are designed but also because of the beautiful music ( RIP Kirill Pokrovsky ).

Here is one thing that makes this game special in my opinion - (Potential spoiler)
When I first played the game I could notice a town and some hills that I could not reach, but there was obviously something there. I tried jumping and doing all sorts of stuff to go there but no luck. Then I made progress, only to find out that I will come back later and fly to those areas easily by turning into a dragon. Games are usually designed so that you can see areas from low, however in this game you get to see things from the top too and it's freaking awesome. It makes you feel like you have more power over the world as you make progress.
The characters are interesting too. Each time you interact with a new NPC you will hear a new story, sometimes they will have something to offer if you help them which is cool. However a lot of the quests don't have only one way of being completed, which makes the game more interesting and less linear. That means a lot of things in the world of Divinity 2 change based on your decisions and actions. The only thing that could be improved about the characters is that some of them look very similar to each other, but the voice acting and the things they have to say kind of balance that out.

Overall the game is great and I highly recommend it even today. The graphics hold up well in my opinion. This is truly a hidden gem, a masterpiece.

A masterpiece that suffers from the engine it was made in.

The story is witty and engaging and the combat a mix of Diablo and Skyrim. This game is a true masterpiece that should be experienced by all. Larian Studios would be well advised to lift this game from the Gamebryo engine, along with creating further games in this style.

For those choosing to experience this game, limiting the FPS to 60 will significantly improve your experience.

I didn't even know I had this, must have been in a Original Sin bundle. Worth a play through despite being a bit dated and clunky.

Don't let the starter area fool you, the game is deeper than the initial trinity you get to start with. Create a build you like, didn't feel too constricting. Charming quests with different ways to complete them. Easter eggs and pop culture sprinkled in quests. Game doesn't take itself too seriously.

You will run into a power gap. Yo-yos between too easy and too hard. As a melee 2 hander, a weapon purchase from a NPC vendor instantly bridged the gap. Pretty much invincible with the ghost up and healing.

Flames of Vengeance definitely feels put together better than the base game. Closer to a modern RPG with the layout. Looks better. I did run into issues with crashes on loading after clicking on a door. Sound cut out doing the end.

Probably not going to do a replay but enjoyed every hour despite the negatives.

I'm annoyed with myself for spending as much time on this game as i did. This game is very much like if you took three or four of the less interesting low to mid-level zones from 2012-era World Of Warcraft and made that into an offline rpg. Maybe the worst, least interesting final boss and ending of any game i've ever played. Pretty uninspired overall even for its time. And quite a few crashes.

This game is like a third person hack and slash RPG version of the Divinity: Original Sin games. For being an older game, its entertaining, looks good, and it runs like butter; even if the mechanics feel a bit aged and it doesn't work on my controller. Honestly, 2010-2014 were like the golden years for optimized gaming. If that's not enough of a description, or you are unfamiliar with Divinity: Original Sin, this game is like a sexually perverted third person Skyrim, mixed with a sexy version of Dungeons and Dragons, mixed with original Diablo--which was sexy and sexually perverted to begin with. Also, this game has better dialogue options than Fallout 4, but that's not saying much, I know. This is a totally casual hack and slash with in depth RPG elements and a NPC character rotation where all the women are insanely cute.

Firstly please be aware that the naming of the various Divinity Games from Larian studios is confusing to say the least.

WHAT THIS IS: This is Divinity II: Developers Cut (Ego Draconis & Flames of Vengeance) (from 2012).

WHAT THIS IS NOT: This is not Divinity II: Original Sin (from 2019).

SHORT REVIEW
This is one of these good games that has been be slightly overlooked in my opinion. A good RPG and definitely worth picking up. It is an older game now so the graphics aren't cutting edge but they are still quite adequate and with the exception of one glitch that can occasionally hang the game on a loading screen between areas the game is pretty solid.

Not a bad price for what you get but it does tend to come round with hefty discounts during steam sales (generally 90% off) so it might be worth waiting for a sale before picking it up.

LONG REVIEW
The first thing to say is there is a quite a lot of content here. The main campaign (Ego Draconis) and the expansion (Flames of Vengeance) with a “normal” and “developer” mode for each. Movie about the development of the game and a vault containing concept art, soundtracks and some other files about the development of the game. A .pfd of the original instruction manual is also available but you have to go and dig in the game files to find that. Its really nice that everything is included in one package, no additional DLC purchases (cash grabs?) are needed.

This is an older game now but still stands up pretty well. It runs on the Gamebryo engine which is pretty solid and stable although there is one glitch that can cause the game to hang on the loading screen between areas which whilst not game breaking (provided you remember to save before changing area) is irritating. Other than that the game itself is mercifully bug free as I only found 2 in nearly 100 hours of game play (1: A couple of levers that should cause a platform and chest to appear in one of the side but don't work. Consequence: Miss some random loot & 2: There is one locked box for which the key is completely missing from the game. Consequence: Miss some random loot). Some other game companies should take note that it is possible to write a large, complex RPG without it being littered with bugs (Bethesda.... I'm looking at you!)

Overall I feel the difficulty is about right although it is quite a challenging game. There are however some severe difficulty spikes for no good reason. The Mind Reading and later on the Dragon Form are a couple of interesting aspects of game play that set this game apart from others.

Overall the plot an quests are quite well written and varied. There is one part of the game I didn't find to be much fun. The Flying Fortresses were rather uninspiring and had a “grind for XP here” feel about them. The initial assault in dragon form was fun but the land and then kill the ground troops was rather dull to be honest and got very repetitive after a while as there are four Flying Fortresses. Despite being usually being a completionist I did skip one of these completely due to boredom.

Normal Game.
Ego Draconis: This is the main game split into 3 main areas.
Area 1: Broken Valley: You are low level. You will die often. Do some side quests to gain some levels before trying the main quest or you will get your head handed to you on a platter!
Area 2: Sentinel Island and the Battle Tower: You are mid level. There is a couple of nasty difficulty spikes in the Battle Tower. You should complete everything in Broken Valley and Sentinel Island before completing the Battle Tower as there is no going back.
Area 3: Orbas Fiords and Flying Fortresses: You are high level. There are a couple of platform puzzles in this area. I hate platform puzzles in RPGs. There are also four Flying Fortresses which is, in my opinion, too many.

Flames of Vengeance: This follows on from Ego Draconis and is basically a 4th Area and does represent about 25% of the entire game so is of significant length itself. It can be played either as a follow on to Ego Draconis or on its own starting with a new high level character.

Although quest and plot wise this area is quite good there are a few issues. There are some timed fights in this area. If there is one thing I hate more platform puzzles in RPGs its timers! The glitch where the game hangs on the loading screen between areas seems far more prevent in this area as do nasty difficulty spikes. I also don't like escort missions and there is one of them thrown into the end game.

Developers Cut. I didn't really play with this much so can't comment.

Vault: Interesting way to pass a hour two.

There are some “in game” achievements but they aren't connected to Steam achievements which is a shame. I can't imagine it would be too much work to link them across. Copying in game achievements across to steam is possible, games like FTL have managed to back fit in game achievements to steam achievements at a later date.

PLUS
1: game play: Generally good with a few interesting mechanics.
2: Plot and Quests: Good variety and generally bug free.
3: Long: A good amount of content.
4: No DLC required: Everything is included in the base purchase price. No additional purchases (cash grabs?) here.
5: Cost: Not too bad for want you get anyway and tends to get hefty discounts during steam sales (generally 90% off).

MINUS
1: Glitch: There is one glitch which can occasionally cause the game to hang on the loading screen between areas. Not game breaking (provided you remember to save before changing area) but irritating. I think this is related to some graphics card comparability issue but I never really got to the bottom of it. I did find a link to a patch that claimed to resolve the issue but it was dead.
2: Difficulty: Generally this is okay, nice and challenging without being too hard but there is the odd nasty difficulty spike for no good reason.

CONCLUSION
This is one of these good games that has been be slightly overlooked in my opinion. A good RPG and definitely worth picking up. Not a bad price for what you get but it does tend to come round with hefty discounts during steam sales (generally 90% off) so it might be worth waiting for a sale before picking it up.

A fun light hearted rpg just like its predecessor , however it improves upon the setting with developed factions, enemies and even dragon transformations. my favorite parts. its still filled with both unique and tropey encounters that i really enjoyed.
Up until an inventory bug removed a teleportation item and locked me inside the homebase. my save was too far back for me to continue so i have dropped it , i recommend regular saving and will return to it one day.

Fantastic Game. I wish they would have made a proper sequel instead of the Original Sin Series.

This is not an AAA title but it is still a pretty good game but with some flaws.

Pros

+ Main story and some quest were good
+ I personally love the idea of becoming a dragon and flying around
+ Good lore
+ Interior locations look well
+ Good optimization, I could play on my very old laptop where I cannot play games such as Oblivion
+ A couple of good ideas such as creating and customization of your own creature which you can summon to help you
+ Good puzzles, yes you have to think and look around when you play this game

Neutral

+/- The ending of the main story can be a little bit disappointing
+/- Some parts of the game world are beautiful and interesting to discover but some parts are a little bit plain and boring
+/- Character progression was good enough but nothing special
+/- I like the idea of having a big tower, headquarters and I was very satisfied to get one during the main quest but usability of this feature is very limited at the end of the day
+/- Combat system is nothing special but can be enjoyable

Cons

- Some exterior locations are not good looking
- Yes, you can play as a dragon but this is not an open world game and you are very limited and you cannot fly whereever you want
- This is not a looting game, loot is not interesting and you get almost nothing from your defeated enemies with some exceptions
- Music is terrible but you can turn it off :)
- Crafting is just weird

I spent more than 40 hours in this game and I do not regret. I generally enjoyed playing this game and I would recommend it to everyone who likes this genre.

A fun game with a lot of possibilities and story to it as well as plot twists. You get to be seen as the bad guy, which is a fun change of pace - whether that's true or not.

Kind of like Dragon Age, but more fluid controls, faster paced combat, different money and loot. Also, turn into a dragon. Also, dragon fortress assault. Overall fun, good story, runs well and aged well. (Except ghosts. Eugh.) Definitely recommend this for any older RPG fans, or just RPG fans in general. Truly a gem.

The combat is a bit simple, graphics are getting a bit old, there's a lot of useless running around before you can turn into a dragon and some parts of it are a bit odd, but I had a lot of fun with it so far. Feels pretty unique to me. Worth playing if you have some time to kill.

This game is hidden gem. Interesting and beautiful in its own way, with the killing musics of mr. Prokovsky, good gameplay and nice ideas like the mind-reading power.
One thing really hecking bugs me though : the way Steam redirects to Original Sin 2 from this page, like we should automatically be wanting to buy OS2 instead of Divinity 2. To me, older Divinity games are better than OS2, to each his own, I guess.

While I think it's the weakest game in Divinity series there is still a lot of fun to be had. The game offers interesting mechanics and captivating story. Definitely a fun game if you like 3rd person action RPGs. If you're here as a fan of Divine Divinity or Divinity Original Sin I recommend watching some gameplay review first. Especially if you don't like console gaming.

I really enjoyed this game back in the day, never got around to reviewing. Some arsehats are review bombing this game because they are salty about BG3. Ignore them generally, and about this game specifically :D

It has been a while since I played this game but, from what I remember: It was a lot of fun. It reminded me a lot of Dungeon Siege 2. The story was passably interesting, and the mechanics had a familiar feel. I had to disable freesync while hiding in grass because it would just make the whole screen turn into a plaid mess of grass colors rather than a normal picture.

I really want to like this game. Graphics are good for what it is. Story is enjoyable and the option to choose additional exp over other rewards when you have a mindreading deficit is nice.

What is not so great are the loading screens. It is not that this game takes long to load, at least not on my PC...it is that if you don't save before going through each and every outside or cellar door, your game might get hung up on the load screen. Save. Save. SAVE a lot and the use of task manager should only be a minor annoyance.

Ultimately, I would still recommend the game to others. I just wish I didn't have to spend so much time restarting it or I would have played much longer.

A solid continuation to the original games and a truly great addition to Larian's RPG series.

A sequel to the Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, Divinity II takes a more action oriented approach to the fantasy world of Rivellon.
Featuring pleasant graphics, acrobatic 3rd person combat, blazing visual effects, great musical score, witty dialogues and a captivating plotline, Divinity II brings a truly unique experience to the table of all the RPG lovers.

Set in two chapters, titled: Ego Draconis and Flames of Vengeance, respectively, the story follows the dragon hunter turned dragon knight on his quest to combat the evil Damian, son of Lucian the Divine, protagonist of the original game.
Applying many common RPG features, the game takes, nonetheless, a slightly different approach to storytelling, including a lot of humor that never, despite it's abundance, becomes dull or repetetive.

Overall, Divinity II is a fantastic experience and leaves a very good impression despite some of the controversial reviews it has gotten. 8.5/10
