Dungeons Keeper war damals so ein geiles Spiel, und ist es noch immer. DIeser kunterbunte Abklatsch hier macht überhaupt keinen Spaß. Schade um das Geld. Dungeon Keeper Fans würde ich raten vorab ein paar Let´s plays o.ä. anzusehen ob das wirklich noch ihres ist. Die Atmosphäre, von der u.a. das Original gelebt hat wurde für eine kunterbunte ich-weiß-nicht-was geopfert. Schade.

Dungeons 2 ist weder die Katastrophe wie der erste Teil noch ist es so gut wie der Dritte. Dungeons 2 ist eine Mischung aus Dungeon Keeper light und Warcraft 2 light. Dabei hat mir der Spieldurchlauf durchaus Spaß gemacht. Leider gibt es nur wenige Missionen (10 oder 11), welche ich nach 14 Stunden durchhatte. Für ein Spiel aus diesem Genre finde ich das eigentlich etwas wenig. Umso mehr störte es mich, dass die Level sich so langsam und gestreckt anfühlten, weil man so viel erforschen musste oder das Geld so langsam herein strudelte. Mit einem guten Pacing wäre das Spiel schon nach sieben Stunden beendet gewesen.
Wer Dungeons 3 mochte und noch mehr von diesem Spielkonzept haben will, kann hier für einen schmalen Taler ruhig zugreifen.

Kurz gesagt kann ich Dungeons 2 mit Addon nur empfehlen, allerdings ist das Spiel schon deutlich anders als der Vorgänger.

Das Spiel ist für Dich richtig, wenn Du...
- ein in sich stimmiges Spiel suchst
- ein wenig Geduld für den Dungeonbau hast
- mit schwarzem Humor klar kommst
- andere Fantasy-Spiele und -Romane kennst

Das Spiel ist für Dich falsch, wenn Du...
- kurzweilige Action suchst
- ungeduldig bist
- mit Fantasy als Genre nix anfangen kannst

Zur Stabilität: Leider hat die aktuelle Version ab und zu noch Abstürze unter Windows 10 (und eventuell anderen Betriebssystemen). :-( Autosave auf 15 Minuten runter schrauben und oft speichern ist sehr zu empfehlen.

+ solide Kampagne mit Anspielungen an aktuelle Popkultur
+ sehr lustiger Kommentator
+ läuft flüssig und überwiegend ohne Bugs
+ Spiel lässt einem Zeit für den Aufbau des Dungeons, entspanntes Spielen möglich

- imho ist die Einheitenauswahl ein wenig zu klein
- die Animationen der Einheiten (und auch der Fallen) sind nicht sehr hübsch
- Steuerung manchmal leicht friemelig

Alles in allem ein solides Dungeonaufbaugame mit RTS-Elementen. Der Humor des Spiels setzt dem ganzen aber die Krone auf und macht es imho zu einem Pflichtkauf.
Ich hoffe auf weitere Kampagnen als DLC, die dann auch hoffentlich vom selben Autoren-Team gebastelt werden. ;)

Um es kurz zu machen:
Für Dungeon Keeper Fans ein muss !

Seit der ersten Kampagne schmunzel ich über die Sprüche des Erzählers oder Namen der Monster,
die aus Filmen, Büchern, Serien oder sonstigem kommen, genau den Charm den so ein Spiel braucht !
Die Grafik is mit viel liebe zum Deteil gemacht und ist wirklich nett zum anschauen.
Das Gameplay an sich ist sehr langsam, also KEIN schnelles aufbau Spiel und gleich volle Kampf Aktion,
wobei man immer wieder seinen Dungeon vor Helden Gruppen verteidigen muss, was aber relativ simpel
mit ein paar gut platzierten Fallen erledigt ist.

An sich wär das Spiel ein genialer Dungeon Keeper Nachfolger geworden aber:

- Zu wenig Spiel Inhalt, wenn man darauf Wert legt seinen Dungeon & Monster immer aufs Maximale zu Upgraden ist man mit der Kampagne und den derzeit vorhandenen Maps in 20-30 Stunden durch.
(ohne DLC)

- Wozu es 2 Fraktionen (mit DLC 3) gibt ist mir auch Schleierhaft, im Original hatte man eine Fraktion und dafür doppelt wenn nicht
dreifach so viele Einheiten, Räume, ect. zur Auswahl.

- Multiplayer ist zwar vorhanden aber nur mit seinen Steam Freunden ?
Da hätte ich mir erwartet das es einen Server gibt wo offene Spiele gelistet werden und man Weltweit gegen andere Spieler spielen kann und nicht nur über die Steam Freundesliste, echt Schade.

Fazit:
Dungeons 2 ist es seit mehr als 15 Jahren endlich wieder ein anständiges Dungeon Spiel,
dass mal wieder richtig gut war und lustigen Humor hatte.

Edit:
Mit den neuen DLC´s, die echt günstig sind, einfach nur noch genial.
Vorallem Fans der Serie Game of Thrones werden das neue Winter DLC lieben.
Dieses Spiel muss man einfach gespielt haben und gehört in jede Spiele Sammlung !

It is a fun and mostly quite easy Dungeon Keeper clone. It runs on my Laptop, which means it is not too demanding. I had a good time with it and would advice anybody who likes these kind of games to take a look. Only downside could be that it is at times a little to easy.

A definite improvement on the Dungeons formula.

While, the mechanics aren't terribly complex, there is a certain satisfaction to be gained from crafting a dungeon with all the lethal traps, overworked denizens, and cheesy one-liners necessary for true evilness. A worthwhile experience to the Evil Overlord genre.

Decent game where you have to build and manage your dungeon in the underground, while fighting evil forces on the surface. The campaign is fun, but there isn't much room for variation in tactics or strategy. Still worth playing thanks to the great concept.

Played on Linux native version.

A fun combination of strategy and dungeon management with a wonderful and hilarious story-telling.

Not too hard, not too easy, perfectly balanced.

For achievements hunters, you can complete the game in 25 hours minimum, DLCs are not required (though they seem really nice and fun).

I like this game. Was funny in the right places although the narrator can be very annoying barking orders at you (even when your doing them!)

It can be slow in places but makes up for it with big boss fights at the end. 70/100

Was a fan of Dungeon Keeper & Dungeon Keeper 2 back in the day. Loved War for the Overworld, did not like Dungeons (1), so I never gave this game a shot. Several years later I check out a review of Dungeons 2 on a whim just to see how it improved itself, and was amazed it transformed itself into Dungeon Keeper meets Warcraft 2.

Love this game to death, can't wait to play 3, and I hope to hear word that 4 is on it's way soon.

Just don't waste your money on the DLC. Auxilary maps are all they are, no campaign, no cohesion, nothing. Too bad, too was looking forward to more Dungeons 2, but this was basically like some fan made some mods.

Fun little RTS! :) The narrator can get a little old pretty fast! But I enjoyed the game! Played all the way through the story! Didn't play the dlc! Kinda felt repetative at that point! But it was enjoyable for the 24 hours I played it :)

It's not a bad game, but in its attempt to do a bit of everything, IMO it fails in doing anything well enough. The Dungeons Keeperlike parts in the dungeon are fairly shallow and limited, while the RTS parts on the surfaces have the same issue and lack depth. Humour is good, visuals are fun, and it has an overall Overlord Vibe, but for me it fails a bit to deliver. Not to mention a weird map design style that had me stuck for nothing quite a few times. Playable, but not at all costs. Gets a 65/100 from me.

This game is a mix of Dungeon Keeper and WarCraft 3. Your dungeon has a heart you must defend. Overall Dungeons 2 is a huge improvement over the original and carries a lot of humor and attention to detail. An awesome dungeon keeper style strategy game that has a good sense of humor. You can build sweet dungeons and upgrade a bunch of neat units.

I cant justify spending 20 euros on this game, but if its on sale then you should probably get it. first game of this genre that I've played and its actually pretty good, got it from a random g2a case so i thought I'd give it a go. ended up playing like 6 hours on it in one go and im probably gonna play more, so buy this game if its on sale

A fun condensed RTS dungeon manager carried by its comedic narrator and updated view of a classic genre.

Pros
+Great narration
+Upgraded fresh look
+Satisfying gameplay
+Highly customizable dungeon designs
+Some story elements

Cons
-Small predictable maps
-Massive unnecessary Game of Thrones spoilers in final act
-Predetermined enemy spawns make them easy to bottleneck and defeat
-Not classic style gameplay

Though this may not be the classic gameplay made famous by this genre of games it does serve as a great comedic intro to the mechanics of it. An enjoyable experience building and customizing your dungeon while setting traps to defeat enemies. Still leaves you wanting more with its limited scope means youll be looking elsewhere for a classic large open world dungeon builder though it still delivers with its own unique charm and story.

I'm just not really a fan of the game type, I suppose.
I played these RTS types to death in the 90s and 2000s and this small change in themes and mechanics doesn't really hold me for long. Otherwise I guess its an OK game.
This is a rather poor review but the game just didn't really interest me

I'm sure this review will be impossible to do without comparing with Dungeon Keeper (DK), so I will just simply compare Dungeons 2 to DK.

1. This game is a mix of Dungeon Keeper and WarCraft 3. Your dungeon has a heart you must defend.
2. You have 2 maps: one underground DK style, one at the surface War3 style. You go to the surface with your creatures to accomplish the mission objectives.
3. Just like DK: you train your creatures, put some traps, make your dungeon, be evil...
4. In DK there is a room to feed the creatures. Here there is a room to brew beer instead.
5. The 2 resources are gold and mana. Mana is only used to purchase spell, use spells and increase the population maximum of your dungeon. Gold is everything in this game, just like DK1. This is better imo than DK2.
6. The enemies can't dig but you must allow them a path (even if it's ridiculously long and full of traps).
7. In DK you couldn't build walls. Here you can put back walls and close accesses if you want (but you are forced to leave a path for the enemies to reach the heart).
8. The narrator sounds less evil than in DK but he has a lot more humor. It's actually very fun to play and he is very important to the experience imo.
9. One trap breaks the game and make it a lot more easy: the rolling rock. Put 3-4 in a row in a corridor and you won't need to defend your dungeon anymore.

Pros:
+ It's fun and entertaining.
+ The story is fun.
+ It's less repetitive than DK.

Cons:
- It's really easy. This game has almost no punishment at all!
- It can still become repetitive. Though I played 28 hours without getting bored. The game is quite addictive.

UPDATE (after playing games of winter DLC):

The difficulty is much better on this one! This is so much fun. You need this DLC after playing the base game.

If you liked Dungeon Keeper - you will adore this!

I had it in my steam library for ages and did not even realise, likely from humble bundle. Installed it by chance... and sweet christmas I had a blast! Within days I had purchased the entire Dungeons series! I streamed the game to my freinds and they all did the same.

Mucho recommendo

Dungeons 2 is a RTS/Fantasy RPG, it was developed by Realmforge and published by Kalypso media digital, it was released for PC and console on April 2015. Dungeons 2 is more of a direct homage to dungeon keeper games than its predecessor.

What’s new:

Dungeons 1 got quite a lot of negative press when it came out back in 2011. People wanted a real spiritual sequel to Dungeon Keeper , but the devs chose to not follow in the exact same footsteps, developer of dungeons 2 tried something new. Rather than defending against hoards of heroes, we are now actively luring them into your lair and then outwit them through our strategically placed traps.
Dungeons 2 drops all of the redundant crap and it tries to do things the “Old School” way with a few new features sprinkled around, and it definitely worked wonders for them.If you have ever played any of the previous dungeon management games before, you will exactly know how the basics of this game plays out.we have to build the dungeon by selecting blocks for the minions to excavate, Rooms can be built onto empty spaces too, but blocks can be filled back in as well to wall off any particular area (well, you know the drill).
A major point where Dungeons 2 pivots from the orignal Dungeons is that the Overworld can now be entered through the same cave entrances used by heroes who raid the dungeon. Once we enter the Overworld, the game transforms into a real-time strategy mode, this allowed me to command minions as they attack the holdings in the cave. The overarching goal is the total destruction of a castle, but there are always few other dungeons holding quests too.
The ever present narrator sarcastically narrates the Ultimate Evil's atrocious deeds, in which case it pushes us to the right path. There are tonne of humorous references like Dungeon Keeper, Warcraft, and fantasy series like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones (you’ve got to be a sharp eyed lad tho).

Gameplay:

The main problem with the original game’s core was that we the players were always in a passive position, fidgeting with our thumbs and anxiously waiting for something to happen. Drooling over our perfect dungeon home is fun up to a point but gets pretty boring pretty quickly, Dungeons 2 understands that the evil overlords too need to keep themselves busy.To mitigate this, Relmforge added a new overland map, a kingdom of kind knights and happy folks,all of which is waiting for you to conquer and enslave. Rather than hopelessly roaming around in your dungeon, you have now got a bunch of specific targets to aim for.
Dungeons 2’s overland Real time strategy combat won’t be rivaling that of Starcraft 2 any time soon, but it doesn’t need to. The best missions in the campaign includes in them multiple objectives,all of which required me to keep an eye on both my dungeon exploration, and also my potential surface conquests.

Multiplayer:

Once you’re done with the single-player campaign, which should take approximately 10 - 15 hours to complete, you’ve got an interesting bunch of multiplayer modes available at your finger tips to keep you busy. There is a deathmatch modes (which is similar to TDM from any other game), a king of the hill mode which tasks us with holding onto a certain area of the map (basically capture point mode), and a domination mode which gives rewards on basis of the total obliteration of your enemies.The Dungeons 2 also adds the new Demon faction, who have their own unique militant units with varied strategies and dungeon layouts.

Conclusion:

Dungeons 2 carries within itself the spirit of the Dungeon keeper games while providing something new alongside it.While being fairly simplistic, the overland RTS/fantasy game provided me with a real sense focus for expansion, and building my dungeon kingdom. It also manages to capture the delightfully sadistic sense of humour that marked out the Dungeon Keeper games in its prime, Dungeons 2 is still a worthy tribute, and definitely well worth your time.

An awesome dungeon keeper style strategy game that has a good sense of humor. You can build sweet dungeons and upgrade a bunch of neat units.

The control is horrible and the pace is boringly slow. You have to manually press WASD to move the camera whereby in other games of similar design, you just need to move your mouse to the edges of the screen to pan the camera. This game can't. And you constantly have to re-target the character after each and every command. The worst ever control I have encountered.

Came for Nostalgia, left very disappointed.
Very slow with a satire on the game of thrones instead of a story.
Dropping minions on dungeon exit to lead them outside was a very terrible experience.
The narrator was great though!

Rediscovered this during the Pandemic here in the US and enjoying it alot. I played the first Dungeon Keeper way back when and this definitely hits most of the same points as that did. Check this out, its definitely worth whatever price its at now.

A surprisingly fun little dungeon management game.
While the UI and overworld are a little clunky and the humor is a little campy overall it comes together nicely.
The 14 hours I played were enjoyable were amusing the whole way through.
Game was received for free via a steam promotion I think, not directly from the developers.

Terrifically slow pacing and only a very basic sense of base management and minion control make this a poor overall experience.

The game wears it's Dungeon Keeper influence tattooed on it's forehead, and nowhere is that more obvious than with the narrator - yet the narrator is poorly written, mostly either too annoying or hand-holdy to retain the fun of the original. Every other line is a nerd-culture reference to game of thrones or lord of the rings, shoved down your throat without subtlety or humour.

Levels are designed with obvious paths in mind with regard to mining out the gold tiles - which alongside the narrator makes me feel like the game plans and plays itself and I'm as much a minion to it as the imps that do the busywork.

Overground combat is mediocre at it's best, but mostly boring select-all and right click affairs on even more linear level design.

The design of the minions themselves are all pretty bland and predictable, also completely lacking the charm of the game's ancestors.

I love the dungeon keeper idea and formula, but this one is a big swing and a miss for me.

I was gifted this game. The base game campaign is short (10 hours for fast players, or in my case, more than 30 hours because I take my time). The main campaign is just long enough for it to not feel repetitive trying to beat the game. I'd say the base game is worth $10 if you like this genre, and $5 would be a good buy if you're on the fence.

I would recommend this game to people who can pick things up quickly. For me, this game was missing a lot in terms of explanation. From what I could understand the game was fun.
