Dev update - First Round of Testing Complete
Mossfield Origins
15.02.23 19:58 Community Announcements

Hello future residents,

Welcome to February! In case you missed last month’s update, we are excitedly preparing for launch this year! Soon you will be able to cozy up and manage your own little space community.

Recently we ran some playtests with close friends and family to test out the design and tackle any early bugs that may appear. Check out what our playtesters have been up to in this gameplay impressions video. Keep in mind that this is early testing footage and does not reflect the final version of the game. Things done in the video such as placing buildings outside the fog is not part of the final experience:

We hope to open up testing to at least SOME members of the public “soon”, perhaps as spring approaches and the snow thaws. Make sure you join us over at the Kitfox Discord to chat with other residents and the devs and find out when the next phase of testing begins, or compare ideas for sustainable architecture and interplanetary diet management… just beware scammers! We’ve had a few false friends on Discord claiming to represent Any% or Kitfox, so just keep in mind we will never ask you to install an exe, and if the beta invitation is not coming from someone with rights on the Kitfox Discord server, they’re probably not to be trusted.

One of the quiet truths of Mossfield Origins is that “recreation is research”, that by taking care of yourself and balancing your life and work, you’ll contribute more meaningfully to both in a holistic way. In the game, your residents need time for themselves, recharging them to get back to whatever building tasks you might need during their worktime. Maybe we can see beta testing as a great example? More research for us and more recreation for you, but also a bit of both on either side.

To my family back home:
I wish you could see the sky here with me. In the day we imagine new ways of living, without damaging the ground beneath us, a new future. And at night, the stars form new patterns and clusters, and we can imagine new stories and legends, a new past and present. My favorite right now is a group of 5 stars to the northwest these days, in a rough V. I think of them as The Flock, an ever-migrating collective through space and time, unified in destination and purpose.
I hope you’re well and can join me soon.

Also, the Kitfox team will be at PAX East! Let us know if you’re in Boston, as we’ll be hosting a panel and event around Dwarf Fortress… and maybe we’ll have more Mossfield Origins news?

Until next time,
Alexandra, Tanya, and Ruby
