We’re a little over a week away from the launch of the free Romeo & Juliet DLC. It’s time to tell you EVERYTHING (or most of it) about the upcoming content and the free patch being released alongside it.
The Romeo & Juliet DLC comes out on May 27.
This update is the first Hero DLC released in Ravenswatch’s post-launch cycle. You can check our roadmap for Year 1 on our website. Now, onto the content highlights! (Beware of spoilers)

Last week, we showcased Romeo and Juliet’s gameplay styles in a video presented by Adrien, Ravenswatch’s Game Director. It was important for us to explain how the two heroes are connected and how they play in co-op to form the iconic lovers we all know.
As you may remember, the couple was first imagined as co-op exclusive characters, but, after the community’s feedback on this original take, we decided to make a broken-hearted version of Romeo and Juliet for solo players who want to experience their unique playstyle too.

Romeo is a fencing master who swings his rapier with natural elegance, while Juliet is a sharpshooter who wields her gun with a steady hand. We wanted to create a design that was both contrasting and complementary.

In solo, Romeo and Juliet have an alternative Trait that plays on Health as well. It could not be the same as the duo version as it requires another player to properly work.
Talents
You’ll unlock a wide variety of Talents for Romeo and Juliet. As they are two distinct characters with very different playing styles, there are 52 talents in total to experiment with. We cannot wait to see what cool synergies you can create with all those!
Take, for example, Romeo’s ‘Thorny Rose’ Talent, which grows paths of thorns stinging the enemy's feet.

Or Juliet’s ‘Volcanic Shots’ Talent, a very effective way to clear enemies and feel like you’re handling a Tommy gun.

And if you just want to kick Nightmares with the sole of your shoe or the butt of your pistol, go at it!

Outfits and additional Skin Pack
Alongside the eight Outfits you can unlock in the game by performing a few achievements, we will also release an additional paid Skin Pack for Romeo and Juliet. Wear six bonus Outfits for the fated couple, in the colors of the Ravens, Nightmares, and their Eternal Love. This additional DLC will cost $4,99.

Romeo & Juliet’s visual design
You’re keen to learn more about Romeo and Juliet’s conception? A few weeks ago, we published a new video of Ravenswatch’s Art Director, Valentin, who shared his creative process on the visual design of the iconic couple. Watch it here:

Balancing
Multiplayer Scaling
Back in April, we answered a frequently asked question from the community: Multiplayer is considerably harder than solo, to the frustrating point. Do you plan to remedy this?
We gave a lengthy response on this matter in our latest Community Spotlight, but to make it short: Yes! There are several levers we've balanced to smooth the co-op experience, it was pretty fitting considering the addition of Romeo and Juliet in version 1.2.

Heroes Talents & Magical Objects
The other thing we wanted to tackle in this update was a bit of balancing on overlooked Talents and Magical Objects. We were not able to go through the whole list of community-requested changes because our primary focus was on Romeo and Juliet. Some untouched Talents and Objects required more work, such as a complete rework or a major change, so they’ll have to wait for another update! (we’re thinking of you, Seductive Provocation ????)
Here’s a little sneak peek at some changes on Talents:

Distant Blows: Highly requested by the community, Scarlet can now aim her bomb in a more significant way. It was one of the earliest Talents made and compared poorly with other abilities of the same type.

Wish of Omnipotence: This talent was particularly shunned by Aladdin players, it will now grant OMNIPOTENCE each time you use a Wish (and it’s not a fourth Wish anymore!).
Nightmares Unleashed Update
We’re also pushing some balancing adjustments to content released in the Nightmares Unleashed Update in this patch. We’re still experimenting with a few things that are not ready to be made public (like Tumors), but some no-brainer changes were able to make it into this update (such as a well-deserved nerf for Abu Al-Jaan).
Refugees’ interactions will now be cancellable, meaning you won’t be forced to choose when speaking to them (yes, even that little thief kid).
And more!
Quality of Life
We added a bunch of Quality of Life requests in this update, let's see a small selection:

It was probably one of the top three QoL requests; you will now be able to consult Scarlet’s Wolf abilities in the book. In addition, we also added a viewer for Rarity on Talents.

We improved the Cyclops’ grab to match the visual feedback better.
Of course, various other improvements and balancing changes in the update accompany the Romeo & Juliet free DLC. A list of many, many, MANY bug fixes is also included. Read the patch note on May 27 for more details (it’s eight pages long ????).
