Das Spiel ist so buggy, nichtmal das Titelbild ist richtig (es ist von Desperados)
ABER, ein tolles Spiel, wenn man es zum laufen bringt.

Früher wurde viel Liebe zum Detail in Geschichte Charaktere und Gameplay gesetzt, seit dem Steam Release leider nicht wirklich

Ein der Spiele aus meiner Kindheit. Natürlich hatte es am meisten Spass gemacht, alle zu töten und wegzutragen, anstatt an allen vorbei zu schleichen. Für mich ist das Spiel Nostalgie pur!

zu blöd, dass es unspielbar ist. Die absoluten Ruckler und slowmotion.
Da refunde ich sogar gerne die 79cent!
Scheinbar mit einem Hilfsprogramm spielbar, aber ich weis nicht ob ich dem Programm vertrauen kann..

leider nicht spielbar auf RTX 2070 | i7 9700k | 16gb RAM.

This game is awesome. However, It's so super slow even with the graphics and everything turned all the way down. It is un-playable really. I really wish this game was playable because it was one of my favorites.

After launching the game for the first time I was surprised that it lagged A LOT. A few Google searches later I found out that this is a common problem and that it is easily patched.
Without a fix program, this Game is almost impossible to play
all in though a good stealth-based, real-time strategy game

Owned the original disk game back in early 2000's and was good enough to buy again on Steam.

Pain to have to do the fix for Windows 10 but worth it. Isometric style is pleasant and unusual, game probably geared more towards a stealth play style but more aggressive play also doable, many little character quirks that can allow for changing up missions although woodland stage mini-missions can get a bit same-y pretty fast. Great voice acting, great city design, decent levelling of enemies with some that need some planning to take on right to the end of the game. Ability to do no / low kill runs gives extra bit of optional challenge to missions. Does need sound to get full experience as context-specific subtitled NPC speech and music gives extra info.

I played this game several times in my childhood so ignore playing time here

Without a fix program, this Game is almost impossible to play. Is worth €2-3 for my personal

Had to figure out how to get it working settings virus scan on add Allowed Firewall stop program. Startup all mouse movement makes pixels all over the screen.. But the Game works like a modern fast picture quality beautiful for so old

My favourite childhood game. So many good memories. So many tries to do the mission perfect - back then and to this day. And so much anger when you fail. Yet this game is just awesome. Amazing story, good graphics for those days and a very unique gameplay. If you're not afraid of almost 20 years old graphics you could still try the game and possibly love it as I do.

Yes, they could've work on this release much more, e.g. to be more compatible. But come on, with a couple of minutes researching you can fix the laggy bug. Still worth to buy. A lovely one.

Do not listen to the negative reviews, this does work on windows 10, and you can fix the frame rate. you don't even need the patch, just listen to the guides in the community hub.

this game is good, if you like desperadoes or commandos you will love it.

Ok so, first things first. This needs a proper fix for the lag, this is however NOT the game's fault, after all it is a game launched in what...? 2002? It is understandable that it presents some performance issues in Windows 10. What is NOT acceptable however is that Steam doesn't provide a fix for it despite having the game on sale.

There is a fix for that which you can find in google to help mitigate the lag, I did and so far I have been playing the game with some minor lagging and nothing else. But again, that's not on the game.

Regarding the game... Well, keep in mind that I'm sure to be biased on this review since this is a game I have played thousands of times in older computers and long before I had steam, so the amount of hours I have spent on this game is far above what my steam profile says.

It's amazing, really, even for an older game I can't help but keep playing it.

Graphics wise, well, it's a game from 2002 so do keep that in mind, but even then the different maps are all just fucking beautiful, like actually, the art is amazing. I love every single castle map, it has so much detail and love put into it, you can tell the developers poured their hearts into each one of them.

Gameplay wise... Well, I do admit that after completing the game for what has to be a dozen times (at least) it does start becoming rather dull but if you are playing it for the first or even the second time I doubt you will have much complaints about it. With all the different characters there are in game, you are sure to have a good time testing their gameplay out.

OST's? Like... How do I even say this, the OST's are hands down the best part about this game, and it might be what gets me to come back to the game even after all these years. I'm certain that more than once you will find yourself just wasting time in the Forest of Sherwood listening to the music and just relaxing for a while.

Each separate castle has their own soundtracks, even in a single castle there's two different soundtracks for both day and night missions, so there's plenty of different musics to enjoy.

All in all, and with the knowledge that I might be more than a little biased when typing out this review, this is a 10/10 game for me. Just wait for when it happens to be on sale on steam, get it and give it a try, I'm sure you won't regret it!

This Game was Made for WIN-98/XP but Some Genius made a Patch to run it on latest Windows Smoothly
i will give him and the Game ????????????????????????

When it comes to Strategy this is my Favourite game , Commando never appeal to me but this .......... this is a National Treasure.

Robin Hood TLOS was my literal childhood! I used to play the first few levels over and over again because I couldn't figure out how to progress. When I discovered this game on steam for only $1 I couldn't resist.
After launching the game for the first time I was surprised that it lagged A LOT. A few Google searches later I found out that this is a common problem and that it is easily patched.
After installing some 3rd party software the game ran very smooth, with the occational crash. (MAKE SURE YOU QUICKSAVE, PEOPLE!)
Given how old this game is, my expectations were very low. The game plays surprisingly well actually!

I recommend this game to anyone who played it back in the day and has nostalgic feelings towards it!
If you have not previously played this game, I do not recommend it because the steam version needs 3rd party software to work, and even then it crashes alot.

I rate Robin Hood TLOS a very nostalgic 8/10

One of the best games I've played. There is actually only one issue (except one that bothered me, but probably wont bother anyone else, and this is lack of the Polish version) and it's the FPS/Resolution problem, but it is really easy to fix! This game is literally one of the best game of this type. After the FPS fix I'd give this game 8/10.

I absolutely love this game, it's a squad based action/stealth game that controls like an RTS, not only there are very few games like that, but this one differentiates itself even further by having swordplay, basic base management and the choice between lethal and nonlethal approaches. As an example, a basic mechanic is that if you try to avoid killing enemies during story missions then more merry men will join your band in Sherwood, which you can then send on missions. It's like a budget medieval Outer Haven.
However, this version is virtually unplayable on a modern system. I hope you have a computer from 20 years ago or else you won't be able to play this title without experiencing slow downs and input delays, which is a real shame. There is also a mod which apparently fixes these issues for most people and it's easy to find a link for it on the Steam forums, but it didn't work for me.
The GOG version runs much better, but only the Steam one supports my native language, so I had to make my very own Frankenstein's monster in order to play the game like I wanted to.
Also, just to iterate on how little this publisher cares about Robin Hood, the background picture on the Steam library is from Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, a different game by the same developer. Shameless.

This game is sooo good. I had a lots of fun as a little boy 18y ago and I was having as much fun now as an adult 28y old man. I would like to play a remake or the next sequel. Old and gold. Classic.

The game does not work. It took me 45 minutes of googling to mod it so it does run as it should with just some relatively minor menu screen glitches. I got it on sale for 70 cents and its certainly worth that, but only after it has been modded.

If you want to play this classic, ironically this is props the most convenient way, but its sad that I need to go out my way to make it work.

This was a great game a long time ago, but it simply does not work on steam. Even with mods to calm down the lag, it simply will not play smoothly at all; the smallest tax on the game engine, such as using abilities or moving multiple characters at once, chops up gameplay into skipping frames at about half speed. Steam should not have allowed this game to be ported on here if no one intended to check if the product actually worked.

I'm also a big fan of Desperados and Commandos series but hear me out.
You either have to:
- download some fix/patch;
- or you're left with buying the game from another platform, cough GoG (their version is compatible with newer machines), because the version that's on Steam right now is unplayable, it runs with 1 FPS.

If you are a Steam only type of guy, and dont want to buy the game from somewhere else or use some other platform, wait for a sale and apply the fix/patch. Wait for a sale, it's not worth to pay the full price and then have to fix the game yourself.

Let's be honest: The original game is epic and in Desperado's (Wanted Dead or Alive) style. However, all the reviews on Steam are right. Due to all the bugs and bad game performance the game is just unplayable on Steam. Some third-party fixes solve a lot though but certainly not everything. That is: All graphics and game speed are considerably improved but mouse tracks and some clitches still remain while playing the game. As a result I did not experience the same fun as I was having when playing this game endlessly during my highschool vacations. Therefore I would absolutely recommend the game but not on Steam.

The Game:
9/10
A classic for me since I was a small child. This is one of the most immersive medieval experiences I had in a game. It's music and art style is beautiful. Its rendition of the classic Robin Hood story is well balanced and flows from chapter to chapter quite well. The stealthy RTS gameplay allows you to control a variety of characters with unique abilities to make to maintain a freshness to the experience.

Steam Version:
0/10
This version does not work for me at all, having game breaking freezes and framerate drops. The version on GOG.com runs without a single issue. Go buy it there.

Even if the Steam version suffers from technical problems on modern systems, it's still a solid strategy game you should add to your collection. Follow the guides to easily fix the problems and enjoy a still colourful and detailed world made of castles and forests. The soundtrack is great too.
So get it and play as Robin and his friends in a quest to save England from tiranny.

The game lags like crazy and is unplayable. Got it from GOG and it works fine, definitely avoid it here

One of my absolute favourite games growing up and when I realised it was on steam I got it instantly but it is poorly optimised and clunky. It is fixable with mods/DMX but it is not the same... I do recommend the game but not when its unplayable.

Loaded it up, switched to 1024 Resolution. Mouse stopped working and screen was off kilter; That's the end of that...

THE GAME IS GOOD, BUT THE STEAM VERSION ISN'T! FIX BELOW!

The negative recommendation is not for the game. This game is an RTS classic, but since it's two decades old, it doesn't like newer PCs and operation systems. Valve did nothing to counter this, and put the game onto the store page without necessary fixes. Because of this, the game has huge lag spikes that make it impossible to play.

There are 2 solutions:
1. Download fixing mods from the internet (ModDB, WinDxd etc.)

2. Buy the GoG version, because that version is already modified for newer Op Systems

If you bought the game already on Steam, download the fix from the site above (read the file placement instructions carefully!), if you not, then do not buy it on Steam, but go to GoG and buy there. It is sad that the users need to fix an otherwise great game themselves to make it playable, because Valve doesn't give a damn about the state of games on its store.

The game it self is a well made game for its time and equals hours of fun to play when it worked, Steam is selling this game even though it is broken, in that it does not run, it needs fixed before it is sold !! I love this game but now regret spending the money on a broken game, Very unhappy with being sold a broken game!!!

Nostalgic classic, as long as you download the lag fix then it's absolutely brilliant - an underrated stealth game that puts you in the driving seat as the famous Robin Hood.

Great vintage game. Nice graphics. Stealth play is cool. But you'll have to download a third party fix-tools to get the game running on a Windows 10 laptop... :-(

Even with over 17 years under its belt, Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood still belongs to the best isometric stealth games on the market. But due to its lack of optimization for newer PCs and OSs it's nearly unplayable. However, there's a well-working performance fix available on Mod DB. The game's technological age is showing but its presentation and mechanics have held up incredibly well.

The 2D graphics are beautiful to this day. The hand-drawn backgrounds and character sprites are detailed to the point that they look like miniature sceneries in hidden picture books. Though the couple of 3D rendered cinematic scenes don't hold up quite as well, they're at the very least funny to look at. The background music is fitting and blends in well during longer sessions. It's atmospheric, informative and generally pleasant to listen to. Ranging from sincere to ridiculous, the voice acting is on point in portraying the exaggerated characters.

Mechanically, this game hits the mark regarding depth while maintaining straightforward playability. The enemy AI, with very few exceptions, is exactly smart enough to provide a good challenge. After a handful of missions, navigation through hostile areas becomes more natural until a new enemy type or stalemate situation comes up. This guards the gameplay from wearing out, requiring new strategies every so often to tackle a task. This is the type of game where the gameplay loop consists of observing, trying a move, failing, trying something else, succeeding and hiding the bodies in a pile. It's a Quick Save and Quick Load fest, especially when played with as few casualties as possible in mind.

The story is plausible and largely based on the real life folklore legend of Robin Hood. In that regard, the game provides a nice way of learning a little bit about the legend. The comical villains and cheesy dialogue lines also make it a good game for kids. It's overall very lighthearted and conveys the idea of Robin Hood in an almost fairy tale setting.

Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is an excellent title that belongs to the classics of the early 2000s, joining the ranks of the first Commandos and Desperados games. It's a childhood gem for many, evoking valid nostalgia. And yet, even new players don't need to fear its age as it still provides excellent audio-visuals and playability, once the technical issues are out of the way.
