Katastrophe. Hab mir die ESO Version mit Blackwood und Elswyre, Morrowind usw für knapp 20€ im Angebot geholt. Möchte Upgrade auf Blackwood Collectors Edition machen, geht nicht im Spiel. Da steht erworben. Im Steam Shop wird bei Kaufversuch geschrieben das ich die Collectors Edition ebenfalls schon habe. Inhalte wie z.B. Reittier sind im Spiel aber nicht verfügbar. Support von Bethesda sagt das ich die Collectors Edition nicht gekauft habe ....

Die Spielerweiterungen Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset und Morrowind werden in der DLC-Beschreibung versprochen, aber das Versprechen wird nicht eingehalten! Auch ich habe nur Blackwood für knappe 14 Euro erhalten... bodenlose Frechheit, wenn ihr mich fragt. Dann soll Steam diese DLC-Beschreibung von Blackwood ändern und damit aufhören, die ESO-Community so übers Ohr zu hauen! :(

So, man muß sich schon bewußt machen das es nur ein DLC ist. Wenn man wie einige Leute hier erwartet ,damit auch in andere DLC Gebiete zu kommen, lieber noch mal durchlesen. So ist es halt schon immer mit ESO. DLC ´s sind nur freigeschaltet durch Zukauf oder Mitgliedschaft: Da dann ziemlich viele, aber leider eben auch nicht alle. Früher konnte man ESO übrigens überhaupt nur spielen wenn man Mitglied war. Zumindestens ist es jetzt frei spielbar und mit dem Grundspiel und der Story darin hat man auch erstmal genug in Tamriel zu tun ^^ Wer mehr will, da ist meine Empfehlung dann: einen Monat die Mitgliedschaft in Anspruch nehmen, sich viele DLC´s darin anschauen, testen und dann entscheiden ob man zukauft. Oder Mitglied bleibt. Wie gesagt man hat sehr viel Spielzeit auch nur mit dem Grundspiel.

Das ist klarer Betrug und sollte unter Strafe stehen. DAS hier ist NICHT das richtige DLC mit allen anderen Kapiteln.
Schade das dafür keinen seinen Kopf verloren hat.

Dunkelforst

Der Dunkelforst ist ziemlich licht
So richtig dicht ist der Wald nicht
Deshalb enttäuscht mich auch die Map
Die Bezeichnung ist echt nepp

Die Totenländer dann hingegen
Durch Portale zu betreten
Bieten zwar einen Kontrast
Der Spaß dort aber schnell verblasst

Die Daylies bieten die gewohnten
Alltäglichen und gut belohnten
Quests mit Weltboss und Verlies
Nichts neues aber auch nicht mies

Erwähnenswert sind die Gefährten
Die relativ Ungelehrten
Welche einen nun begleiten
Und im Kampf hilflos mitstreiten

Als Prüfung gibt es obendrein
Neuerdings nun auch Feldhain
So ist für mich der DLC
Alles in allem ganz okay

Denn man darf ja nicht vergessen
Die haben doch daheim gesessen
Und in mancher Lockdown-Nacht
Ihr allermöglichstes gemacht

Do not purchase the upgrade version of this chapter as it does not include all of the extras areas listed like elswyre and the rest. it only provides you the chapter with no extras. i wish i could get a refund for this but theyve made it impossible as its an upgrade for an existing game.

It just feel bare bones compared to previous expansions. Same old 6 delves, 2 dailies (one less than normal BTW) and one group Trial, a few new armor sets, and what feels like lees new clothing styles than usual.

As for the new....
Companions: Braindead NPC allies that don't know how to stay alive.
Story Quests: Lackluster. Made awful when you see the conclusion in the deadlands DLC the follows this one
World encounters: Advertised as random portals into oblivion where you must fight waves of enemies. Functionally just a public dungeon with multiple entrances where everyone just camps out the end boss, so its dead by the time you slog through.

The expansion itself is good, don't be fooled by the negative critics who bought the upgrade instead of the collectors edition. With this DLC you got companions which is helpful in your adventures, and access to a region next to Cyrodiil so it's very Imperial themed. The stories itself is awesome, you can fight Dagonic minions. Now I know why the Argonians were so pissed they invade the Oblivion realm back in TES: IV during the Oblivion Crisis lollll

The Blackwood map is nice. Dunno if I am a fan of npc-companions in mmos though... Anyway, the dlc would get a thumps up, even though its is way overpriced, BUT it does not for exactly one reason:

No full access to the content. The Pantherfang chapel is a house that is big part of the dlc map. BUT you can not buy it with ingame currency- only for real money, around 140 dollars.
Thats, in my opinion, not only a no-go but also illegal since that wasn t mentioned anywhere/how the dlc is/was advertised

The publisher seems to grab as much money as they can before the game dies... with each dlc less and less new content, overpriced dlcs/in-game-store,more p2w, less inventory space (new items but no new space) etc.

I do like the blackwood art/textures/modeling/map-design.. So thumps up for the artists. The marketing, pricing, general game design (regarding some features) is one of the worst I have seen in mmos though

Why did they say Elsweyr was included on the advertised Blackwood expansion back when it doesn't include Southern Elsweyr. I can't wait to see what else is missing...

Do not do not do not buy the the upgrade edition unless you already own all previous DLC for ESO. The upgrade only includes the Blackwood DLC and nothing else. If you're like me and owned only the standard edition prior to purchase and want all of the DLC you have to buy the original base game version that lists all of the DLC under it. Its stupid and the description should be edited to clarify between the upgrade and the collection rather than just listing Blackwood as including all the DLC outright.

I just found out I'm unable to access the Summerset after 100 hrs of playing. I came back and read the comment, Im not the only one, lol.

I think the comments shows that is a unclear description of this one.

It's a bit sad that Blackwood is plagued with bad reviews, just because people got the Upgrade instead of the Collection which also grants access to the older chapters. The version clearly says what you're getting.

The expansion itself is perfectly fine, there's a beautiful new zone with all the questing and dungeons you expect from an expansion and a nice new companion feature.

Though to be honest, it's nothing groundbreaking. So I suggest waiting for a sale to come and getting it then. ...and if you don't own any older chapters yet, remember to get the COLLECTION and not the UPGRADE

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I just bought the upgrade to Blackwood Collector's Edition, and found out it doesn't come with everything in the Blackwood Collector's Edition. How the hell can you tell me I am getting the Blackwood Collector's Edition if I am not in-fact getting the Blackwood Collector's Edition. This is SOOOO incredibly bogus on Steams part or ESO's part or whoever is responsible. They absolutely know that this will get them more money, as people will now have to go back and PURCHASE FOR A SECOND TIME the Blackwood Collector's Edition if they actually want all the other chapters included. If they actually cared they'd change the wording to make this obvious, but they won't, because they want that extra money.

I literally bought an upgrade to Blackwood Collector's Edition, and they didn't give me what comes in the Blackwood Collector's Edition. How absolutely bogus is that? Evidently by the comments, I am not the only one. Had I known there was a difference, I would have payed the $3 extra, as EVERYONE else would have, but they wanted people to have to purchase the same thing twice, which is why they have worded it how they did and STILL haven't changed it, even AFTER they know it's misleading people. Con-Artists.

Australia/New Zealand Servers when???
Like really the worst part of this game is when you cant run dungeons or trials cause no one is willing to deal with your high ping unless you fork out 100 $$$ which just ruins your chances of ever completing the content of this game, I know many people in Australia that are sad that Bethesda wont lift a finger for their southern hemisphere fans.

SCAM WARNING: DO NOT BUY THE UPGRADE !!!

This cannot be stated enough: the upgrade does NOT include ANY of the DLCs other than Blackwood - even though the description states this. This is misleading, the description only applies to the full buy.

Also note that steam will NOT refund the purchase if you played more than 2h of ESO after buying the upgrade, even if you did not play any DLC contet. Zenimax will NOT give you addon access on their end either, even if you verify the purchase.

DO NOT LET THE PRICE FOOL YOU. Even though the Uprade cost + base game cost is almost exactly the same as the collectors edition prices, only the latter will give you everything. I assume the pricing is done on purpose and I DO consider this scam.

I bought this game on sale because I really wanted a companion and I'm pleasantly surprised by all the new PvE quests. (My new favorite is the one where you help a struggling romance writer hook up with a ghost lol!) The main quest line is also interesting with plenty of predictable, but entertaining twists and turns. I wish I could've made more impactful decisions rather than just be everyone's gofer. Also, I wish the companions were more compelling and not such a one denominational boy scout or girl scout. (I'm falling behind on my DB quests because the companions loose their minds whenever you assassinate someone.) But still, I enjoy my companion and I LOVE choosing their mounts and outfits. Although, I'm so glad I waited for Blackwood to go on sale.

I have myself had no issues, however I already own all of the DLC expansions so I was buying Blackwood as a standard standalone. I purchased it over steam, no issues, and was able to just play it ASAP.

The map itself was unlocked, the quests seem fine - haven't got really far in them yet, I like to take my time.
But the areas are beautifully made, with the big town looking very lively and fun to wander in.
As it is the most recent upgrade I see people in the town as well (like, other players) so it's fun enough for me.
I only paid about £10 so I'm fine with it. If you can get it on sale I would absolutely recommend that over buying it alone, but you'd get a few hours worth for sure on the quests alone.

Do NOT get this through the Blackwood Upgrade. This version of the upgrade does NOT include the Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, and Morrowind Chapters. You will want to purchase The Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood from the original store page to get that content. You should go (re)purchase the version on the original Elder Scrolls Online Page. Again, this version does NOT include the DLC on the Elder Scrolls Online store page. Be careful!

TL;DR: only buy the 'Upgrade' version if you're just only missing the Blackwood DLC and you already have everything else

I am writing this review to solve the conflicting comments.
I brought the 'Upgrade' version as I only pocessed the base game.
The Blackwwod description mention that it includes the previous extensions (Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr and Greymoor).
However this is not the case with the 'Upgrade' version, as mentionned here: help.elderscrollsonline.com
Therfore, if, like me or others, you got baited by the misleading description, ask for a refund and go buy the full Blackwood version (with included base game) to get every DLC in between.

J'écris cette review pour faire la part des commentaires existants et contradictoires.
J'ai premièrement acheté la version 'Upgrade', car je possédais déjà et uniquement le jeu de base.
La description de Blackwood indique inclus les extensions précédentes (Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr et Greymoor).
Cependant ce n'est pas le cas avec la version 'Upgrade', comme indiqué ici : help.elderscrollsonline.com
Donc si comme moi, ou d'autres, vous êtes fait avoir par la description maladroite, faites un demande de remboursement et acheter la version complète de Blackwood (avec le jeu de base inclus) pour bénéficier de tout les DLC intermédiaires.

Upgrade worked fine, I don't understand the other reviews saying it doesn't.
So, feel free to comment otherwise, I won't leave them turned off, but:
THE UPGRADE WORKS FINE!
I feel that's needed in capital letters, just in case people in the back miss it. Buying this was scary, because of the mostly negative reviews, but it works, it works so well I'm in Leyawiin right now. And holy cheese of Sheogorath, I love Leyawiin, Haven't seen it since Oblivion.
If it doesn't work for you, contact support. They're a bit slow some times, but it beats the hell out of scaring everyone.

DLC not sold as advertised. You have to make an additional purchase in order to access all of the content. Steam has not been responding to my tickets requesting a refund which is frustrating. Avoid the headache and don't get this DLC

I see mixed reviews for Blackwood but I really like it. The new companion system has a long way to go before it is as good as the one in SWTOR, but is a great start and addition to the game (I am sure they will develop and build on it). It seemed smaller then the other areas (I finished it much faster.... smaller or maybe I am just more powerful now! lol).... but enjoyable.

Steam needs to differentiate between Blackwood CE and Blackwood CE Upgrade. The Upgrade version does NOT include the additional areas listed as included.

The Blackwood Upgrade is not the same as purchasing the Blackwood Edition of the game. One would think that the extra cost of the latter was because it included the base game, which I'd already paid for. Instead, you only get the Blackwood Chapter if you get that upgrade, whereas the Blackwood Edition comes with multiple other chapters (i.e. the ones I was actually interested in). So now, if I wanted to access that content, I'd have to pay extra. On top of that, those chapters aren't available elsewhere in the Steam store (which would have made it clearer what I'd have to do to get them); instead, you have to go through the ESO Crown store, which is very overpriced.

Having worked in the gaming industry before, I'd like to reemphasize an old sentiment here: fuck marketing teams.

So, like decent amount of other people here, I ended up purchasing only the upgrade because I thought it would come with the other chapters. The description on the store page isn't clear enough, and should absolutely be changed. I'm currently waiting on a possible Steam refund, and I'm unlikely to repurchase the full collection in the foreseeable future because I only initially got it because of a sale that isn't running anymore

EDIT: I have received my refund. I'll be keeping this review up until the store page is made more clear, as I feel it's still relevant.

The wording on the DLC page is very ambiguous. It gives the impression that the base Blackwood upgrade will also provide access to the Summerset, Elsweyr, Greymoor, and Morrowind but in game this does not seem to be the case!

A boring, shallow and empty addition to the otherwise pretty damn good fame. Would have preferd not to buy it and would recoomend not buying it. Especially since it seems that that DLC that should be included in the years pass isnt. Save your money.

There are a surprising number of bad reviews on here with misinformation, and comments turned off. If you are interested in a review for this game, I suggest you be careful.

Some misinformation:

- Blackwood doesn't come with other chapters? It does if you buy it with them included...
- There are no delves? Of course there are delves... just like any map in ESO.
- The story is short and so you skipped the whole game? Did you try playing anything but Blackwood? The story is huge.
- They market companions to sell cosmetics and companion gear? Cosmetics don't even work on companions... and companion gear is all in game drops...

Anyway a real review? It's good. Good enough to beat most other MMOs on the market. Why hasn't it? No clue, my guess would be a lot of people just plain want to play the cliche popular game. For me.. I'd rather not jump on the band wagon of some of these horrendous games. They sell well but their features are mediocre at best... no voice acting? Slow combat? Gear treadmills? Or ones that are severely unfinished but everyone says it will get better. Lol How would they know?

What does ESO have?

- Huge, fully voice acted story that you could play for ages. It would actually take you weeks to complete it all, but you can do whichever area you want, or none. You don't HAVE to do anything.
- Action combat that requires skill to be good. Whys is that nice? It means that you can't just pop OP gear on an OP class and be good. Though obviously it can help.
- It has dungeons and raids but no treadmill, and the community is not raidcentric like other games. You won't be forced into scheduled raid groups unless you want to be.
- Housing that lets you turn an open field into a citadel if you want. It's so advanced it's literally end game content.
- Pvp that isn't just about how many people you have, and takes actual skill (same explanation as combat above).

I'm just another die hard fan defending the game they love, right? Well I'm not. I have no loyalty to any game and have played tons of MMOs and if one came out that beat this one in some significant way I'd play that instead. They just plain don't. The only reason I made this review at all was because of the weird ones that give misinformation. I did not like them.

...but try it for yourself, just don't believe every weird review. Or you could go join hype trains, whatever. At the end of the day I'll still be happy with this.

0 stars - dont buy this option. It says it includes Greymoor, Summerset, etc BUT IT DOESN'T. refunding immediately.

Enjoying the game but u purchased the incorrect version like alot of people had to write quite a few messages to steam to fix and had to delete my dlc so I could buy the correct one. Eventually steam sorted me out but only after getting nasty my first email was quite pleasant. There should be a note below saying upgrade doesn't include expansion or don't have it at the top like it's the main choice.

Product descriptions are misleading... One version says:

So you would think the black wood upgrade edition would also contain all other chapters too right? WRONG

Uninspired and boring.

If you're a former player thinking of returning for this expansion, I'd recommend holding off. The story in Blackwood is dull and quite by-the-numbers. You've seen this all before. The zone itself is ugly and bland. None of the characters are memorable, and all the side quests I've done have been blase.

This DLC is not worth the $. Finished all side quests and main story within 4 hours.
- Companion system is okay, they dont do a lot of damage.
- Really awesome them, but they missed Oblivion all together.
- if i could give this a rating it would be 4 out of 10

Not worth!!! Use it money for crown crates instead, you'll still probably get nothing considering the rolls are terrible, but it'll definitely be better than whatever is inside blackwood. Companions are nice, but not $50 worth. If you want to look at a swamp that actually looks good, go to Murkmire. The oblivion gates are also very disappointing consider it doesn't have any variety in layout, challenge, or bosses.

I wish I could bring myself to click that thumbs up, but it does do enough for me to reccomend, albeit only to less casual players of ESO. Sadly, for its asking price, Blackwood does not add enough to the game. It is more of the same, just another new zone without anything new minus the companion system, which is nice for those that play solo but could use some tweaks, especially with leveling. In fact, I feel as though this was the shortest main quest of all the expansions I played, which is a shame because I love ES4 and was kinda expecting more. There are alot of callbacks (call forwards?) to ES4 though which is done well, especially the adoring fan! The music though, I feel iffy on, the new combat music sounds so off-putting when played after the previous tracks, it doesn't sound right, maybe its just me. The exploration tracks in Blackwood though are great! Very ES4-ish. Overall, I would give Blackwood a barely 3/5

If the game came with the preorder stuff I could say it would be worth it... But with out the preorder stuff I suggest not buying it unless preorder stuff came with it.. Its really not worth it.

Lmao its like the preorder stuff was half the game. Wait till its on sell for like 15$ before buying it.

I got this for the companions. GOD do I regret it. They are so week that a sorcerer's pet is a better tank then them. The only real form of AI they seem to have is: follow you, attack what you attack, and stand in the big circle of death to die.

Can't speak on the story, hasn't played it yet.

Literally for over an hour i ran from A to B for reading a note, picking up trash and talking to somebody i don't give an f. about. Stop with these lazy fetch quests holy crap. MMO is not about this, these quests can have their places, yes but not like this. Player should get in to combat every 2-3 fetch quest steps or something interesting should happen. But holy shit, an entire SET of quests is just running around. No no no. Thats lazy. Lazy to do it with friends, and lazy to do it alone. Stop wasting people's time.

Pros
- Storyline is fantastic. Full of intrigue, mystery and great characters.
- Very well written side quests.
- Music is fantastic throughout. Full of violins, orchestral, and great melodramatic feels.
The bard songs are great too.
- Leyawiin is well designed. Pays homage to Oblivion Leyawiin. Looks great. Crafting is
situated just right.
- Superb voice acting. Has lots of the same actors from other Bethesda games.
- Exploration is spot on. Blackwood is well designed full of interesting locations with a lot
of environmental storytelling.
- Performance is great. Solid FPS, very few drops, good latency.
- Solo play is fantastic. So much to see and do.
- Companions are a nice addition. Long storyline. You can dress them up, assign them
mounts. Turn the frequency of
their chat lower or higher.
- Only one Trial. The game doesnt need more dev time on trials. This is how it should be
going forward. More solo content.
- No modern politics shoved in your face.
- Zenimax cares more than Bethesda about Elder Scrolls lore and it shows in Blackwood.
- Sound effects are so good. Perfect balance of environmental sounds.

Neutral

- The Oblivion gates are a bit small. Fun to do. Just too small.

Cons

- Combat is still a hot mess. Needs to be slowed down a bit.
- Could have used a new class. Every new chapter should have one.
- Sprinting animation still hasnt been fixed. Its the single silliest running animation in any
game. Its worse than final fantasy XV

This DLC is an absolute massive pile of dogshit. Since Blackwood came out I've been completely locked out of all of ESO, unable to get pass the intro cinematic or the character selection screen without crashing with no add-ons. Sent support ticket 2 weeks ago and no reply or updates from ZOS support. Getting an actual helpful reply from any ZOS admins on the forum is like talking to a fucking brick. And to top it all off, if I was still paying for ESO+ I'd be losing weeks of membership that I payed for with no compensation whatsoever. Checked forums & reddit and other players are having the same exact problem DO NOT BUY THIS. At least when Cyberpunk came out I was still able to play the utter shit that it is.

I only bought this for the companions and I'm not disappointed.

Would be great if one could just buy a companion for 5€ while ignoring the rest of the DLC though.

If you already own the base game, and you're looking to get Blackwood AND Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, etc., then DO NOT purchase the The Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood Upgrade. Even though The Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood includes the base game, this is still the version you're going to need in order to get all of the things. Steam needs to add a description to the Blackwood Upgrade version to clarify this because it's super confusing.

I'm not really into the lore aspect of EOS. I don't read the books I find. I just open them to see if they raise a skill or whatever. That being said, I don't get the point of the reviews that mention the lore and how lacking it is, or how it doesn't follow cannon.

I just want to run around, explore, and fight now and then. This chapter gives me that. Also, I now have a companion to aid me in my explorations/fights. I only have two concerns regarding the companions:

1. You receive no information on where to find the quest to gain the companion. In the case of Mirri, it was at the top of the map opposite of where you start the game. I don't know, maybe I missed a clue or an NPC that gives you the information.

2. It takes a long time for the companion to level, and even longer to develop rapport with them.

Otherwise, I'm satisfied.

If you're like me and just want to explore and such, then I think you'll enjoy this chapter. If not, and you want a deeper experience, then maybe you should wait for a sale.

I have had a bug in 3 different areas. One open world, one in a self contained questing area and the other a prologue in a delve. The last was in the open world after teleporting to a wayshrine where I instantly fell through the world. I was unaware that years ago (account since 2016) that I was given an access code for the forums that is separate from their accounts. I have long since then linked and log in through steam to my account. I can not log into the forums through steam to ask for an access code so I can post this one bug that has happened 3 times so far. I am unable to get my character unstuck as you are in constant motion so their unstuck (which you have to pay for with in game currency) to get out of. The other times Id have to que as a fake tank (faster time getting into a dungeon) to get out of the self contained/delve area so I can stop falling through the world. I dont know if anyone has had these problems but I have only received what seems to be automated e-mails about my bug, with no further inquires. Except when I created a new account to log into their forums which isnt attached to my steam one. This bug has only happened since this dlc came out and now I can't play on my main. Id wait for bugs to be fixed. They have had plenty of few to several hour maintenance to fix stuff, no idea what backend issues it is, but this has sadly become unplayable for me. Sure I can play another character until my main is unstuck but no guarantee if it doesnt happen to them as well. I'd wait a while to purchase in case you are waiting.

Edit. June 11 '21 A guildy recommended that I repair the game which worked. Here's to hoping that it is a permanent fix. I had removed addons along with saved variables before the repair so that did not help.

I just farmed for a Lead for 20+ hours doing the most boring form of content in the game, that is harvesting resources in Shadowfen... so starting off this review pretty upset.

Now the zone of Blackwood is pretty cool looking, as far as swamps go, and Leyawiin is a great hub city and brings some nostalgia. The story is pretty decent, but I was hoping we'd be seeing Lyranth a lot more but other than one quest she's pretty much not important at all.

The new events that are the portals to oblivion are cool the first couple times you do them. There isn't much variation to layout of the map to make them fun to repeat and almost every time you'll end up having to wait at the final boss encounter for it to respawn because some other group got there first and sped through it.

The companions are one of the biggest disappointments the chapter had to offer. I was expecting something similar to mass effect or dragon age when it came to the rapport system and progressing your relationship with the characters. Instead we got a status bar with a gradient-like effect that makes it hard to tell where you need to be on that bar to achieve the friend status and no numbers to show how much more you need to do. And the primary way to increase your relationship is by doing old fighters/mages guild dailies, which feels so bad. The smaller things like reading books or doing antiquities might as well not even be in the game because their effects on the rapport bar are so negligible that you won't notice it move at all. Eventually you'll unlock their quests, but that will take a long time and by then you already don't care about them, because they are pretty terrible at doing any of the three roles. They're pretty much only good for when a teammate disconnects during a dungeon and you don't want to wait in que.

Overall, I think this is the worst expansion zos has ever made and I regret my purchase.

umm i got on the game today and i can tell you no IT ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT, I CHECKED THE GOD D..... STORIES PAGE, AND WENT INTO ZONE DLC, AND I CAN TELL YOU FOR SURE IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THOSE SAID EXPANSIONS, that is a HUGE LIE, accept quest on Elsweyr, Summerset, and Morrowind are greyed out, i already owned greymoor collectors, so they still want you to unlock permanently or pay for eso plus to gain expansions {chapters) for content that they state right here on steam, that specifically says blackwood includes, and i guarentee you 100% it does not, valve and bethesda/zenimax are full of s.... like give me the expansions for free or edit this out of the description because it's a MASSIVE LIE.
