[p align="start"]In The Guild - Europa 1410, success can come in many forms: wealth, political power, growing business… But your family’s bloodline plays a big role too: your dynasty ensures that your legacy will live on and that you can continue to gain influence and power over your rivals.[/p][p align="start"]With this dev diary, we will dive into how family dynamics work in The Guild - Europa 1410, from courtship, marriage, having children, and naming your successor.[/p][p][/p]

Courtship, Romance, and Marriage

[p align="start"]The Guild - Europa 1410 continues a very important tradition of the series: the importance of choosing the right spouse. The perfect partner is wealthy and either very young, to ensure quick and healthy offspring, or very old, to limit the time spent waiting for a potential inheritance. Some characters even offer special traits like a strong bloodline to increase the chances for your children to excel in some skills![/p][p][/p][p][/img][/p][p]Courtship in The Guild - Europa 1410 can unfold by making deliberate social actions, such as sending gifts or sweet-talking your potential partner. These actions can speed up the courting progress, and lead to a sooner wedding date.[/p][p][/p][p][/img]Choose how to woo your future spouse.[/p][p][/p][p][/img]You can invest some of your money to send a gift to your love interest…[/p][p][/p][p][/img]… or invest some time and energy and sweet-talk your way into their heart.[/p][p][/p][p][/img][/p][p]You are now engaged![/p][p][/p][p]After getting engaged, you are set to get married the next turn, at noon. As it is a joyous occasion, you will receive a monetary wedding gift and raise the opinion of the members of the Office Chamber that you are a part of. Just like real life, getting married may deplete your energy as you partake in your nuptial festivities.[/p][p][/p][p][/img][/p]

Marital Duties, Heirs, and Inheritance

[p align="start"]Once you are married, there is a chance for a child to be born to the newlyweds. Having children is important to continue your bloodline and found your dynasty - so it’s time to get to work![/p][p align="start"]While you, the player, don’t have to actively start the production of offspring, you can increase the chance of a pregnancy by spending time with your significant other. You may also ask your spouse to help out with the daily business, at the cost of time you can spend together, which in turn lowers the fertility rate of your marriage.[/p][p][/p][p][/img]Increase your chances of having a child by sharing a private moment with your spouse.[/p][p align="start"][/p][p align="start"]Once your first child is born, you can interact with them and play with them to affect how they grow - some toys may improve your child’s rhetoric skills, while others may give them better handicraft skills.[/p][p][/p][p][/img][/p][p][/p][p]Even if The Guild - Europa 1410 offers several ways for you to extend - or shorten - your own lifespan, death will come to you eventually. You can choose to continue the game with one of your children or your spouse as your heir, who will inherit all your titles, buildings and money - at least what's left after the city gets its cut.[/p][p align="start"]When any of your children reaches the age of 15, you can choose to name them your heir, and they will carry the burden of your dynasty's name and success after your inevitable death. But be aware that the medieval times did have many diseases and dangers rampant, so it’s better to have an heir and a few spares, just in case one or two won’t make it in life.[/p][p][/p][p][/img]Choose your heir, who will be your successor when the time comes.[/p][p][/p][p][/img][/p][p][/p][p][/img]Keep track of your dynasty growth through the family tree.[/p][p align="start"] [/p][p align="start"]That’s all for today’s dev diary! Thank you for reading through it, and for your continued support. For our next dev diary, we’ll be focusing on the cities that will be present in The Guild - Europa 1410. We’ve already teased Kuttenberg and Nürnberg, but we have a few more up our sleeve! Do you have any guesses on what the other cities are? What would you like to know about the cities, aside from their layout and size?[/p]
