Titan Quest - Anniversary Edition

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2612464336

POSITIVES

+ stimmiger Tag- Nachtwechsel

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2615344431

NEGATIVES

Still a Fantastic Arpg, the new DLC's are a Wonderful Addition to it.
No hidden ''Cosmetic'' Microtransactions and crap looking ig Gear, still pure good Gameplay and great Art Design.
For sure it shows its Age a bit on the Controls,TQ always felt a bit rough to me.
But the Anniversary Addition brought some nice Things to fix this a bit, like the option to make the Gameplay a bit Faster (Needs also faster Reactions for sure)
The Engine still looks Wonderful.
Enjoying my Replays alot.

Also the Soundtrack still holds up and is simply Amazing.
Only Thing im missing is a Transmog Option, would be great.

The best ARPG from the era, in contention for best ARPG ever.
The game was ahead of it's time then and still offers features some more recent ARPGs lack.
The only people I wouldn't recommend this game to is people who want their ARPG to be an MMO..

Very basic, old arpg which is unnecessarily long. I played through the base story only once (with thorough exploration) and racked up almost 40 hours. Unless you want to play through several difficulties numerous times with different chars you can't unlock many achievs. Skill trees aren't great, I felt weak throughout the game as the class I chose had no aoes and just didn't feel powerful, even when I'd maxed my skill tree out. There are way better arpgs out there, I'd avoid this one unless you're looking for a time sync and grind.

Pleasantly surprised at how fun this ARPG turned out to be. The theme and setting are pretty sweet and it tells an interesting story.

Tons of loot and gear to craft and collect, a good variety of enemy types, and neat stages to explore. Controls and mechanics felt pretty solid aside from a few targeting issues.

This gem really captures that classic ARPG nostalgia and makes you feel invested in your character. If you enjoy games like Diablo or Path of Exile you will probably enjoy this too!

This is maybe old game from 2006, but with overhaul and constant update and content, this game really worth to play despite its age. If you tired with ARPG with dark, grim and depressed theme like Diablo or Grim Dawn, you can play this as an alternative. With more colorful tone, little bit cartoonish style and unique setting, give this game really unique and charming feel. Worth to buy and play.

You know a game is old when you can’t tell what anything is even with max graphic settings.

A truly epic game that is able to stand on it’s own, even after all these years.

I think the most important thing about Titan Quest is that it realizes that Indo-European mythology is just as interesting as any Tolkienesque high fantasy. It is refreshing to see a CRPG/ARPG/Isometric RPG that isn’t just spamming the same D&D and D&D wannabe setting and story. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

It's only missing a cheat proof online ladder, but the rest is there.
It's a great RPG to play coop with a friend.

Not so great in online games with random people because of tools like TQVault and TQDefiler.
But if you're ok with people duping items and editing their stats and levels without effort then you're good to go.

The game has a huge world to explore which you'll run through 3 times. (Somehow chapter 2 in games is always a desert)
Of course you can call it quits after completing normal difficulty, but you would miss out on some legendary bosses that only appear in the higher difficulties. And all the legendary loot as well, that only drops in the highest difficulty.

I love the art style, I love the landscape, I love the history behind it all. The loot is awesome, you'll fill up your stashes with all sorts of set items in no time. The game has a dual class system which means great replayability. Even the music is good in this game, especially in the final act.

I really like this game and it's probably in my all time top 10 of games I've played.
And I've played over a thousand for sure.

If only it had a secure online ladder. I think that's the main reason why this game never really blew up.
This original game had a few kinks and hick ups, but now that we have the Anniversary Edition most (if not all) of those are now history.

100% recommend this game.

I btw own the discs as well of the original TQ and IT.
I've played this game well over a 1000 hours.

Titan Quest is the grandfather of Grim Dawn and despite the latter adding its own features and flavour, Titan Quest is an epic, mythological arpg that's not to be missed. It world is huge, the class system is interesting, leveling progress is rewarding and the combat feels punchy. If you like the idea of facing off against Medusa and the hydra or fine tuning your character build, looking for that last piece of loot or class synergy, don't miss Titan Quest. I far prefer it to the Diablo series.

100% recommended, I just hope they add more dlc in future.

Titan Quests Anniversary Edition has all the characteristics that a good ARPG should have: solid gameplay, a complete class system, an engaging story, a good length, and acceptable graphics for its time.

If you like action RPGs, it's still a must buy, despite the years that have passed since its release.

Highly recommended.

This was one of the first games I ever played and it still holds up 15 years later, thanks in no small part to the new expansions since THQ got bought out by Nordic. My favorite class/mastery system I've seen in an ARPG (I hear the more recent Grim Dawn based its system off of this one, though I haven't played it,) it's just a very rewarding play experience.

I give it an Only game I'm still playing I played when I was 12/10

can't believe this classic is totally free well at least for a limited time but still, what a deal! Thank the gods for this amazing title, if you enjoy PoE's game mechanics then you'll love this game. Runs well on not so good internet/pcs, easy to learn and plenty to do!

Solid and competent Hack-n-Slash, if you're tired of Diablo and Path of Exile, I'd say this should be your next choice if you want some more H&S.
So what's good about this game? First, its obligatory H&S gimmick is its classes. You have a choice of 9 classes, of which you can take two, which gives you 36 possible class combinations, and all of which have viable builds with good synergies, you're not gonna be just an archer or just a fireball-throwing mage - you can be an archer who also casts storm magic, or a fireball mage who's also good at getting surrounded and tanking hits with his shield while blasting monsters with AOE.
The second fun gimmick is enemy drops - anything that your enemies wear, you can pick up and wear too, and on the other hand, if an enemy has a legendary weapon, you'll experience its effects on yourself. It does not add that much to the game, and the ground will be littered with garbage equipment you wouldn't even think of picking up, but it sometimes does lead to interesting situations and adds a tiny bit of emergent gameplay.
The game is pretty for its time, and does not look half-bad today. The environments are vibrant and diverse (except for dungeons), and you'll be traveling all around the world from Greece to Egypt to Babylon to China to Greek Heaven to Hades. Monsters and equipment will also be changing according to the region where you encounter them.
Now about the things I don't like about the game. First, it is too long, around 25 hours to finish the game once on easy. Medium and Hard act like New Game+ and New Game++, so that's maybe 50 more hours to reach the end-game content. The game has artifact crafting, and for that you need to farm for specific randomly-dropped legendary equipment, which will add up to a lot more hours. With this game having 36 class combinations, they could have made its pacing faster so that you'd be able to experience as much of the game as possible, and even if you're fine with touching only the basic classes, that's still 5 playthroughs. The game absolutely does not have enough content to warrant replaying it so much and for so long, especially considering the map layout is static, it is not generated randomly. You will have fun with your first playthrough though.
Second, the plot is about NPCs throwing boring scrolling textboxes at you (they are voiced though), there's really nothing interesting about it, no deep concepts or anything, the lore is a very sparse retelling of ancient mythologies, and the characters are dull static NPCs with historical or mythological names floating above their heads.

For an RPG involving ridding monsters from countries, it is unmatched. Story-line, weapons, graphics are quite pleasing. It is quite addicting though.

Titan Quest showed a lot of promise, but was far too short. The Anniversary Edition with extra content is much better. Very point and click style with down looking isometric view, but very nice graphics and eminently playable. I keep coming back when I'm bored with other games.

This game was an absolute blast playing and I enjoyed it very much. I didn't know what to expect at first other than knowing that it shares the same engine with Grim Dawn and Titan Quest going on sale with big discounts so I picked it up during the summer sale....but what is Titan Quest?

General
Titan Quest is an isometric arpg with gameplay in the vein of Diablo. A hack and slash if you will, with tons of loot. Titan Quest's also a fantasy game taking place in the 8th century meaning you'll be playing during ancient times of history and the mythology is prevalent through the game which is hugely part of the game's aesthetics. Personally i've very much enjoyed seeing how it was represented.

Story
A sudden upsurge of demons, beasts, and other evils have invaded the mortal realm and rebelling against the gods. Severing their plains with the mortal realm...rendering them useless and the humans helpless without aid. In an act of desparation, the humans are left defending themselves as much as they can from their demise. This is where you come in, you're a nobody who assists with the imperial army to fend off the evils and after seeing your success against a Satyr Shaman, your potential led you to be sent on a journey of salvation from evil. Then soon becoming a one man army in the process.

Gameplay
Like I said about the game being a looter hack and slash arpg, you'll spend your time fighting through groups of enemies as well as building upon your character's stats and skills when leveling. Two classes are able to be chosen which gives the choice of what playstyle people would want to play and customize. Builds are further strengthened with augments in the form of Essences and Relics that provide statistical, passive, and offensive boosts. Loot's also a major factor to the game so there may be times where you'd want to farm for a bit. The various rebirth fountains (checkpoints) allow for an easier accessibility of farming. Titan Quest also has different game speeds to play in and admittedly this makes it go by faster.

Music
Surprisingly the music in this game is great! Alot of it are ambient melodies in the calmer areas of the game such as towns or open fields. Whenever the situation escalates however, the music becomes triumphant. For bosses, the soundtracks are absolutely menacing. Without spoiling too much but there are a ton of soundtracks for every area of the game. Titan Quest's soundtrack also hooked me on the game more lol.

Environments
Okay so....this part of Titan Quest is what amazes me about it. For a portion of the game you'll be in open fields which doesn't seem all too exciting but hear me out. Because the game takes place where mythology was present means you'll see it and how the developers made the areas of the game around it shocks me with awe. One moment in the game where there was a staircase leading to the underworld meanwhile tunnels upon tunnels of souls are groaning in dread and agony gave me chills. Another part I was amazed with was the Judgement Temple as it was represented as an infinite space. A day/night cycle is present in the game as that makes it feel even more realistic. There's so much more I want to say but it's better for you to explore it yourself.

Apart from that, the npcs and towns are the liveliest i've seen in any game I played. Literally every interactible npc is voiced and different than the rest in tone and personality. Towns themselves are bustling with life as you see tons of people roaming the streets and tending to their own business. It's even further alive with the lighting when it turns night. Npcs themselves also have sidequests where you're either rewarded gear, items, or extra free stat points. My favorite npc was the guy who had the idea about the infamous trojan horse.

Technical stuff
Optimization is for the most part perfect except in some instances. Stutter or dips (idk what's it called) can be somewhat common. Load times were insanely quick and steam cloud will break your saves....I learned that after spending 24 or so hours into the game where my character had corrupted.

Bad things/Negatives
Titan Quest may be a great game and yet it has some problems I have encountered so these will be listed.

•Caravan iventory/storage: Duplicate incomplete Essences and Relics do not stack. This easily takes up vasts amounts of space in the Caravan. I would assume its because each have their own bonus stat when completed so that separates them apart from each of the same Essence/Relic. I suppose this can be ignored because iventory space is huge enough already.

•Clipping through walls or being stuck on walls. I've had this happen several times where I'd run up to a wall during battle and mistakenly becoming stuck then not being able to move. The only way to actually get out is to reset the save file

•The ui for buffs/passives/active skills and no ui for debuffs. For the ui, your skills will appear as minimal icons but I find them very small and the largest ui size. I also find it weird that some skills show a timer and others don't. Not only that, but actives debuffs don't appear on your ui hud so you'd have to make sense of what was taken visually or directly onto the character.

•Atlantis expansion....this is one big fetch quest side quest lol. It was rather interesting?

•fps dropping randomly. I would assume it's because areas are constantly being loaded in as the player is progressing.

•Not being able to respec points from a class' level bar. Meaning you won't be able to points back as you would with points into skills. Points allocated into a class' level bar is permanent.

That's it as far as I can tell. All in all, the developers put great care into this game and I enjoyed my time with it. Would recommend.

What a fantastic game this is.I remember it fondly as it helped me get through one of the most distressing times in my life.I was never blessed with good eyesight and one day about 7 years ago my retina in my left eye tore. Not a small tear ... the whole of the top tore away leaving me losing vision rapidly.
After an emergency operation I spent the next 3 months having to keep my face in a downward position looking at the floor for 45 minutes out of every hour as they place a gas bubble in your eye to put pressure on the retina, this holds it against the back of the eye to help it to reattach..
So I took the base off my gaming monitor and laid it flat of the floor and played Titan Quest with my head on the desk looking at it on the floor and my hands up on the desk for the mouse and keyboard. It really helped take my mind off my situation.
I instantly purchased the anniversary edition and look forward now to playing it, sitting upright.Unfortunately I lost most of my vision from the left eye even after the 5 operations that followed but my right eye, though a bit dodgy is still holding up and I still enjoy gaming.
Happy gaming to all.

Update .. I just nominated this game in the The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award.

Update for 2017 : I just nominated this game for the 2017 Awards

Update for 2018 : I just nominated this game for the 2018 Awards

This game had me hooked like the first few seasons of game of thrones except it didn't go around fucking everything about itself that made it good afterwards.

There's a variety of skills for each class (which you can pick two of, giving many combinations), so there are lots of ways to play. Even through my one playthrough, I switched between a few styles. I settled on a physical melee build because walking up to twenty monsters and wiping the floor with them using nothing but your two swords is easily the most badass way to play. Sure bows are the superior choice against some monsters/bosses. Ditto to spellcasting. But how fucking lame is shooting arrows or throwing fire while you hide a hundred meters away?

I think what I really missed out on was co-op play. No one build is going to pwn every boss in the game, but I'm sure having allies to cover your back and make up for your weaknesses would be an even more enjoyable way to play instead of dying five times because you can play carelessly because respawning is nearly free of punishment and enemies don't respawn or even fucking heal when you respawn. Honestly, I think that's the worst thing about the game. I never really had to sit up straight and try. I'd just run in carefree, guns blazing, and if I died I just did it again. I understand that resetting enemies isn't really a realistic way to handle co-op play, but I feel like it should at least have been added to solo play.

Other than that, the game really has like no flaws. There's a big variety of equipment, many relics you can upgrade them with, combat is smooth and satisfying, the voice acting is quite good and the story itself is also great. A lot of greek/egyptian (and maybe babylonian I think?) mythology is woven masterfully into the game, and it was delightful being able to connect strings on your own with your own original knowledge of mythology.

Really, this game kept me glued to the screen better than any game has in a long time, and it never got stale even after 50 hours of gameplay. I'll definitely replay this to try out other classes and to level my original character further. I did manage to reach the point of being able to use all the skills of both my classes, but I left quite a few unskilled while maxing a couple and leaving the others with 1/2 points because not all skills complemented my playstyle and a couple seemed to scale much better than the others. While it would've been nice to be a high enough level by the end of the game to max out all my skills, I very much appreciate that you have to allocate your points discerningly.

So yeah, I highly recommend the game. I'd give it a solid 9/10, as good a game as A7X are a band. Well, almost as good.

Played through the main story (without Ragnarok or Atlantis) and loved every minute of it. Played this game growing up from around 8-11 years old and going back to it, it did not disappoint. Of late I really only play tactical FPS games but going back to an RPG has been such a fun experience and quite addicting. The combat seems less clunky but the baseline is a memory of me playing as a kid and maybe I wasn't the most coordinated then. The game runs smoothly and progressed at a rate that made it hard to quite.
As someone who loves the mythos of ancient Greece and having such nostalgic memories, maybe it isnt the most unbiased review but I would give it a 10/10 and say its worth your time if you like grinding for loot and a pretty decent story.

The original was good. This one is just annoying. I don't know which monkey thought it was a good idea to put DLC loot into the drop pool. So now, you can get rare drops that you can't use because you don't have the DLCs. So you have a whole bank of nice loot, but are locked behind a paywall you're never going to buy because the DLCs are kind of shit

I dont understand how a game after receiving so many updates is worst than how it used to be when it was launched. After years of development this game lacks important quality of life features like auto gold pick, easy experimenting with the builds. The evolution is very slow, you have to grind a lot, the game becomes extremely repetitive after the first act due to lack of new features/skills/weapons/etc. You have to waste a lot of time before you get one more level, then you upgrade your character, then you find out that the upgrade is almost useless, it only increases some stat with 3% so you have to grind a lot more to see a difference in your build. You will get to level 40 and still use level 15 gear because it is better than anything else that you were able to find in 10 hours of grind. Boring, repetitive, lacks innovation, too slow.

Titan Quest Anniversary Edition

The good
- 36 different classes to experiment. Enough said in replay value
- There is depth in its system
- The last two acts makes it worth it with better enemy AI, better lore and plot for Immortal Throne
- Still pretty looking despite its age

The bad
- Sidequest is not all that interesting
- The first two acts is a bit monotonous
- Voice work is not great
- Lore is not all that interesting in the beginning

The Summary

Gameplay 7 – There is a solid progression and a lot of experimentation despite the repetitive nature of the game. Abilities feel impactful and weighty

Graphics 6 – It has age quite well and a lot of visual designs for enemies. Although its starting to show its age as you zoom in the camera closer

Sound 4 – Voice work is atrocious at times and often the same effects can be heard over and over again. There is musical themes but it is often few and far between. Will be hearing mostly combat actions

Story 5 – Honestly its just there to move you from point A to B but at least it improved with the expansion

The Review

Love ARPG’s of old when it was much simpler time. When there was no auction house for loot debacle, when ARPG’s were all about acquiring the loot the old fashion way. Killing a bunch of monsters and feeling how powerful you will get. When it was all about being a bad ass with tons of stats info about how much damage your legendary weapon can inflict. Behold old school ARPG’s fans Titan Quest is one such game that might be able to quench your thirst by replacing killing demonic hordes with killing mythology creatures. Only lacking is a good story but that is not what you are here for, it’s all about being powerful and sending my Liche King to suck the living daylights out of my enemies.

Titan Quest made by the now defunct Iron Lore entertainment has always been a sort of diamond in the rough with ARPG’s. Its story was not all that entertaining and overall was a very repetitive game like most ARPG’s but it had a way of making you feel powerful with ton of experimentation with its classes. ARPG’s at times can be a bit of grind but classics like Diablo 2 showed the appeal of the grind can be immensely fun at times especially in the later stages. Combine that with unique visuals, interesting character classes, abilities and lore. You might just have a great combination for a good RPG like the classic Diablo 2. On the other hand, Titan Quest delivers on the gameplay front not so much on the lore or plot but before we head to the nitty gritty stuff let’s get to the story. Titan Quest story is very simplistic as you create your character and go about your journey to stop the Telkines, a lesser Titan of sorts. These lesser titans’ wants to release Typhon, a powerful Titan to wage war with the Gods in Olympus by summoning monsters and as usual humanity is being caught in the crosshairs. There is a secret organization along the way that helps you in your journey but to be honest the story is there just to push you forward.

Where Titan Quest truly excels is giving you ton of unique classes to experiment with powerful abilities making you feel like you are God of War chosen disciple. Having a total of 36 classes combinations including the generic warrior, archer, and mage builds, that is a ton of builds to wage war. I went with the spellbreaker combining my passive leeching abilities with the warrior more offensive build. And I have to say despite the lackluster plot and somewhat barebones lore in the beginning, I had a blast fighting all manner of legendary beast. Ranging from beastmen, Minatours, undead like mummies, harpies, insects, automatons, terracotta warriors and more which adds quite a lot of unique visual enemies design despite most of them playing quite identical at times. Enemies charge and try to swarm you, while most of the time you time your attacks and abilities to have a bit of strategy in controlling the horde. There is always a range unit among the horde of melee enemies attacking you. Occasionally you will bump into a few bosses which will throw some unique abilities like fireballs at you or stop all your passive abilities. There are side quest but it never is anything interesting and mostly standard ARPG fetch or kill quest. Go there kill this monster or go there and fetch that item. The story for these side quest are also really not that interesting.

The early game is honestly the weakest aspect to Titan Quest where enemies often do the same thing and that goes for almost two acts set in Greece and Egypt before it hits the third act in the Orient which I assume is China. This also applies to the loot giving you a ton of crap you do not need. The third act on wards is honestly where the game shines, with enemies throwing a bunch of abilities, fighting various types of enemies all at once, and of course better loot. Enemies are often forcing you to time your abilities and at times spam at the potion buttons. Bosses are also really good in the third act onwards often providing good loop and interesting encounters such as facing the Terracotta Sorcerer which constantly throws terracotta warriors your way while attacking you from a far. The side quest and lore gets much better once you reach the excellent immortal throne expansion which is a blast to play. At times it feels like the early sections were the early access while the last two acts are the final product.

Visually Titan Quest anniversary edition is still pretty to look at despite its age, there is a ton of variety on the enemy designs to the locations, from Greek theaters and temples to giant pyramids and sand dunes and finally the Great Wall of China. Overall it’s all really decent looking although sometimes the forest and swamp areas is a bit hard to see with trees occasionally blocking your view. However I feel the Hades regions are some of the much more interesting locations showing a ton of interesting environments on the afterlife. Floating souls like streams over ash like sand dunes and volcanic environments to ruin like cities. It’s quite a sight to behold for such an old game. There has been some slight graphical overhauls but nothing major and its a nice touch. The sound design is honestly nothing to shout about. Voice work isn’t great and music is sparse most of the time. So you will be hearing a lot of the same hitting and screeching sounds depending on what creature you kill. Sometimes the voice work is honestly atrocious especially in the Orient and Egypt region. There are some minor bugs like getting stuck after teleportation.

With that being said, the main appeal of the core ARPG loop is what Titan Quest does best. And I would imagine this game would be a blast to play with friends. There is a ton of replay value if you want to collect powerful relics, loot and try all the classes’ unique variety as well as abilities. It is though a more slower game than Diablo series where at times it does not allow you to just rush in but instead forces you to retreat and fight smart in the later stages. It is a shame that the pacing feels a bit lackluster but Titan Quest Anniversary Edition overall delivers. Combine with the excellent Immortal throne at least the game is fun in smiting the titan hordes and quenching your thirst for some old school ARPG. A big thanks for the publisher and developers for giving this game free to whoever owns the original base games.

I do recommend this game. The graphics well it's to be expected. This game has been out for longer than Grim Dawn, which was developed by the same company. I love both games. It's defintly a bit more difficult than the Diablo series... Well at least what I have played in that series which isn't a whole lot :(.
This game is fun though, the story line from what I have plaid has been fun, and entertaining. There are defentily worse games to play. Don't get that sentance wrong. This really is a fun game. I want the game devs to try to up the graphics, or the drop system to be better in both games. Other than that try the game, and see for yourself if you like it or not.

I played Titan Quest long before it was released on Steam and just now gave the Anniversary Edition a try. I was honestly surprised how good this game still looks and how well it plays. This can still easily keep up or even surpass much newer titles like PoE, D3 or Grim Dawn. Not bad for a 15 years old game. The optional faster game modes probably also fixed one of the biggest issues with the game back in the days.

Just a remark about the new expansions Ragnarök and Atlantis. While I can still fully recommend the base game and the original expansion, I'm not so sure about those. They lack a lot of polish and have some rather significant design flaws, like bad level and quest design, some very ugly armor parts like the pants, questionable voice acting and more. I would only recommend those to people who are willing to tolerate such issues.

Do you like the mechanics of Diablo 2-3? Do you like killing scores of mythological beings? Collecting loot? Picking More than 1 class? If you answered yes to the 1st question and any one after, this game is for you. Buy the game. Play the game. And you will more than likely have a good time. It's not perfect, mind you, but it is good, and it is fun.

There are few things more satisfying than committing genocide against every single type of monster you could think of with just left click, and occasionally right click when things get dangerous.

Fun for hours on end, though some may find it boring after a while. The sheer amount of possible character builds and item combinations is insane and promotes playthrough after playthrough of new combos and experiences. The repetition of playing through the same route every time can admittedly feel stale after a while, but there are still tons of ways to change up the game and make it interesting again. It's fairly easy to master but the countless options make finding new challenges easy, and the game itself still certainly has its moments of difficulty. It's also important to mention the potential for item collecting in the long run, as there are so many rare items to collect and artifacts to craft that the amount of powerful builds and trophy walls to create is also near limitless.

I'd recommend this to anyone who can stand the mouse controls and playstyle of a hack-and-slash. It covers short playthroughs and long ones, difficult challenges and relaxing massacres.

Titan quest is considered one of the grand fathers to the ARPG genre. Many of its features are still seen today and even some modern game dont have the level of customization Titan Quest boasts.

Kicking things off, the combat is one of the few adjustments your going to want to get used to. This game is S-L-O-W on both movement and combat, assuming your not playing a ranged class, just getting to enemies can feel like a snail chasing a rabbit. Once you get some ranged abilities, this becomes less of an issue but can turn some players away that have gotten used to the break-neck pace of modern ARPGs. Combat itself feels fine, but groundbreaking at the time. Enemies dont explode into bits of gore and red shrapnel, but kinda just flop into a ragdoll, yes its silly but seeing a battlefield littered with corpses in hilarious poses never got old for me.

Classes are where Titan Quest STILL to this day surprises me with the level of customization. You start off with a choice of 10 classes, at later levels you can select a 2nd class, each class has synergy with another and some can lead to some absolutely insane combinations. Earth and warfare? become a Battlemage, focusing on applying buffs to your weapons. Spirit and defense? An unstoppable dreadnaught that heals and can survive any battle. The list goes on and on, if your curious about combos, theres a quick guide you can look up detailing what does what with certain class combos.

The last bit is the story, its not terrible and is diffidently a nice change compared to the apocalypse theme so many ARPGs love to use. The roman mythology is ripe with monsters and scenarios perfect for introducing not only a living and breathing world, but a world on the brink from being taken over. Think of oblivion with one second being calm and serene and the next you stumble onto a gate to oblivion.

Overall, Titan Quest has some age marks, somethings can be fixed with mods and since it has full workshop support, most common problems can be fixed. I highly recommend playing through the game atleast once just to experience what ARPGs were like back in the early 2000's.

I've been a long time player of Diablo 2 and I bought Titan Quest AE when it was on sale recently via Steam. I'm really enjoying it and can see myself continuing with different character types to fully explore the game. I've also purchased Grim Dawn but not started that yet because I'm enjoying Titan Quest so much.

A good ARPG. Maybe the best. There is just a crazy amount of content. The variety of character classes and skills is huge. There is lots of equipment and ways to customize it. The mythical setting is cool. The difficulty curve is just right. Some of the bosses and encounters are tough, but never so tough that you feel like you can't experiment with less than optimal builds.

The game is a pretty decent rpg hack and slash like the good old Diablo series. I owned the original game and was surprised it had an update and several dlc on steam. I picked it up on the sales and enjoyed it again.

Only con I have for it is after a while of playing it the grind is a little much. I go in spurts and sometimes only play from 1 checkpoint to the next

The first three chapters are a good game.

The fourth chapter is more of the same, and starts to get a little repetitive.

The fifth is even more of the same (it's also bigger than previous chapters), and then the higher difficulties ask you to replay the entire thing. Twice.

And the magicians' spells and summons don't scale with stats (and have a level cap), eventually making them useless, devolving each battle into exchanging blows (and, for bosses, running in circles while you regenerate).

If you like grinding (and restarting to pick another class), or if you're happy to put the game down before it's 'done', sure, go ahead; I don't.

It took me almost 200 hours to complete this game with all the DLCs on all difficulty levels with one character. And I'm definitely going to start playing from scratch with a new character, because this game is that good, addicting and has so much content. I played it since i was young when there was only 3 acts and it wasn't on Steam, and since then i keep coming back to it. It is quite relaxing, and a perfect game to play while listening to podcasts.

I purchased the game with all the expansions but after 51 hours of play i felt like the game got too repetitive and had no desire to play the expansions after beating immortal throne (which was excellent) I played with one of the new classes from ragnarok and got a slight upgrade in some of the shadow quality so it wasn't a total waste to buy the dlc. Main flaw is that the skill system seems to be tailored for a 30-50 hour experience as the further down the skill tree all i was unlocking was enhanced buffs on my abilities and the game did not introduce many any new game play mechanics or abilities to keep me interested to keep going. The setting is great and the voice acting in the original game and expansion were surprising detailed and the writing was good. The beginning of Ragnarok the dialogue had some weird awkward pauses in between lines and i could tell instantly it just wasn't the same feel... So i decided to hang it up early but the base game is a solid 6/10 and would recommend on a sale but i would say save some cash and skip the dlc's until after you beat the game and see if ya want to continue the journey.

I think this is the only descendant of Diablo I've never been able to finish because I have no desire to do so. I always get a few hours in and forget why I even started.

If you like games like playing the Diablo series, Torchlight series, Path of Exile or dungeon keeper or for the real hardcore enthousiasts of this genre even like the game Throne of Darkness let me tell you... This game is right in the same alley alot of interesting mods which make the game even more challinging as it already is. If your style is within these previously named games then you should try this, many builds which result in many different challanges which make the game completely different to play each time. Many builds for me still to be discovered. Always a great game to come back with and play with friends or random strangers or even by myself. A get to go game. ADD IT, ITS WORTH IT!

I really enjoy the games made by the creators of Titan Quest. I've done Co-op with a couple gaming friends and had TONS of fun. It's action packed and dangerous, and full of secrets for those of you who consider yourself completionists. I'd recommend you at least give it a go. Whether your taste is a swashbuckler, an archer, or a mage, this game does it all - and sends you down an epic journey throughout the eras of the ancient world powers no less!

I had played Titan Quest back in the day. Interestingly, I didn't remember all that much about it. Yet, when I saw it remastered on Steam, a sucker for nostalgia such as I am, I still bought it. So what if I couldn't recall anything except the name, it was from the good old days. When I finally played this remastered version, I realized what had caused my amnesia. This is an entirely forgettable game. If not for its mythological setting there would be absolutely nothing to distinguish it by.

The mythology part is interesting. The game includes a foray to ancient Greece, Egypt, Babylon, China, even the Underworld. That said, there isn't too much thought or coherence put to it. It is more of a theme park, a pastiche of recognizable names and imagery. The game cops-out of real world-building by using an existing one and failing to add anything of value on top of it. The main story is just there. I finished the game but I can't say I'm too sure I got what it was about, some Gods tried to destroy humanity? It was just a pretext to run around from one area to the next and kill some more enemy mobs. Characters are effectively non-existent. Too many areas just blend in with one another. There is precious little that actually commands attention.

Technically the game is proficient. I'm not going to say excellent, but it is decent. There is a good number of, mostly small, issues with the game's mechanics, issues the developers clearly saw but didn't bother to properly fix. Such as the huge amounts of item clutter. Enemies keep on dropping useless cracked/non-magical items throughout. Items that become pointless to even touch within the first 2 hours. Yet stay there, filling up the screen and blocking your clicks. The developers realized it, but rather than rebalance the game, they put a band-aid on the issue by introducing a problematic item filter to hide them. Numerous glitches complete the picture of a game that, while mostly ok, needed some more attention to iron the kinks out.

Nevertheless the game was still rather fun to play, at least for the most part. In the typical addictive manner of this genre. One more area, a few more clicks. The core mechanics work. The game is long enough. It contains 4 acts set in different locations and it includes the, by now, typical to the genre three difficulties, allowing you to twice replay the campaign for more experience and better loot. The character creation/progression system is also worthy of some recognition. Each character starts the same and as you gain experience you can select and adopt up to two ability trees, from a collection of eight. Enabling the player to grow his character more organically and allowing the game to cater to a good number of playstyles.

I will recommend this game, albeit very weakly. I did not dislike it. I had fun playing it. It works fairly ok and the mythological setting is indeed interesting on its own right. The game is inoffensive, but it is also entirely inessential. If you see this game on a sale, like mythology and feel like some nice, braindead fun, go ahead. That, it will provide, but little else.

Not gonna lie, I didn't like this game the first two tries (around an hour each attempt). I had a hankering to slap some devils on Diablo for a little while and decided to reinstall this one and give it another go. I'm about 20 levels in and it's really grown on me. I especially like how customizable your character's skill trees are. You basically select two trees to create a class, each with their own play styles.

Titan Quest is a dungeon crawler action RPG comparable to Diablo. It is set in ancient Greek, Egypt and China with all of it’s mythological monsters and lots of loot. I have played Titan Quest and the expansion The Immortal Throne a lot as a child. I was a bit too late for the Diablo 2 hype and found my fun in this dungeon crawler. So I might be a bit nostalgic.

What I liked
- Zen-like: These kind of games always get me in a zen-like flow. Most of the game you don’t have to think too much and you just gather up all the valuables and peruse them for anything of use. Occasionally a boss or sometimes even random hero will show up that kills you in 2-3 hits. So you still have to be on your toes.

- Theme: One thing I always liked about Titan Quest is that it really goes all in on its “Ancient world” theme. Some enemies are taken from well known mythical monsters while others are obscure beasts that still feel at home in the environment. It all looks and feels very authentic.

- Mastery system: The choosing of two masteries makes it that you have a lot of different characters you can make. I don’t think I have a single mastery that I do not like. The runemaster also makes a nice addition with the Ragnarok DLC.

- Easter Egg: I played the game a lot but I never noticed this easter egg in the Immortal Throne where you get to fight the developers. I had a lot of fun with the weird properties of these enemies named after the devs. It was a very fitting ending.

What I didn’t like
- Performance: The game doesn’t seem to run that well at times. It didn’t happen often but I did have moments where I had my frames drop. Which can be quite deadly in this game.

- Attack speed OP: Part of the fun of these kind of games is too try out different loot you find. Unfortunately one stat is just so good in makes the choosing of your equipment mostly trivial. Picking the item with an attack speed or total speed modifier is most of the times the right choose. I think the game would have been more interesting without this modifier.

- Dps meter unreliable: I’m still not sure but what I found on the internet it seems the dps meter that is shown in your inventory is not taken everything in mind. In my experience it also made some weird calculations when comparing items. This is a shame because comparing items is part of the fun in this game but hard to do because of this.

- Casting Time: There seems to be this weird delay before you actually activate a skill. I think it is the modifier called casting time. It makes me feel like the game is unresponsive. When I press a button I expect the skill to be activated.

- Backtracking: I like to explore every corner of the map and don’t mind backtracking in those cases but when you have to backtrack for a side quest through empty terrain it is quite boring. The Immortal Throne has a annoying one with a Deamon NPC in a camp for example. I would have preferred if they just had a teleporter near all of these locations.

- Collision problems: During some parts of the game it is noticeable that height difference is not taken into account when shooting a ranged attack at an enemy. I had some cases where arrows get stuck in staircases or slopes. I also had two instances of my character getting stuck in a door that just opened. The only way to get out of it was to teleport to the nearest circle and walk all the way back.

- Quality of life missing: I wished they had some kind of way to quickly cast a buff on yourself. The fire resistance shield from the earth mastery is annoying to have to keep casting on yourself. One click to activate it and another on your portrait every half a minute or so gets tedious. This could have been 1 click with some kind of toggle.

- Need more storage: I like to collect. Especially the blue items are cool to collect but your bank space will quickly get full. I was forced to make “mule” characters to save more items. And that is quite a hassle to do. I think it is new that there is now a dedicated relic page which is good but still not enough. I would install a mod for it if it didn’t disable achievements.

- Shadowmaw: half way through Greece there is a cave that in the original was not that special. Now however it houses an enemy that has a much higher level then enemies in the rest of the area. I’m pretty sure it killed me in 1 hit the first time I encountered him. There is an achievement attached to him if you kill him before leaving Greece but still I don’t really like the change they made here.

Why others should try it
If you just want to click away in a dungeon crawler you can do a lot worse then Titan Quest. Another game that recently came out, Grim Dawn, is very similar and also from one of Titan Quest’s creators. I do think Grim Dawn is the better game with more systems and a smoother experience. Of course there is more games like this. For example Diablo 3 for a more triple A experience, Path of Exile for a free to play game that is constantly updated or Torchlight 2 for a more stylized game. These are all good games but if you really like the theme of Titan Quest or have nostalgia like me you might still want to go for this game.

Locked Loot Drops destroy your drop chances if you don't have at least the Regnarök expansion! You see epic loot drops laying on the floor but can't pick it up. This is a very cheap way to force people into buying the DLC and could be solved in another way! Can't recommend the AE though! Play your original Disc Version if you can!!

The overall game is still a lot of fun though.

Titan Quest is an action role playing hack and slash video game developed by Iron Lore Entertainment for Microsoft Windows personal computers. It was published by THQ in 2006. It was released on Steam in 2007, and later ported to mobile devices by DotEmu and released in 2016; later versions were published by THQ Nordic. Versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch were released in 2018. The gameplay is similar to the Diablo series, with player navigation being handled with a mouse-driven tile-based interface, and gameplay revolving around role-playing mechanics and real-time combat. Three expansions were released for the game: Titan Quest: Immortal Throne in 2007, Titan Quest: Ragnarök in 2017 and Titan Quest: Atlantis in 2019.

Plot
Titan Quest begins with a narration, detailing how the Titans once ruled the primordial darkness before the light of the Olympian Gods appeared: after a great war, the Titans were exiled and imprisoned, and the Olympians ushered in a golden age for the mortal world. An unknown time later, a trio of lesser Titans known as Telkines broke the communication conduit linking Olympus with the mortal world, and summoned armies of monsters to terrorize the world and prepare for the release of the Titans. The player character begins their quest at the village of Helos, where beasts are destroying the local crops

Gameplay
Titan Quest’s campaign has six chapters set in different places of the ancient world like Greece, Egypt, Hades and Atlantis. Every Act offers, along with the main questline, tons of side quests and a wide variety of enemies and world bosses. There is no help indicator with the quests, meaning that you need to read carefully the descriptions in order to complete them.

In the beginning of the game there aren’t any classes, so every new character is basically the same except the gender. Progressing through the game though, you get to choose up to two Masteries that will define the class of your character. There are currently ten Masteries, and each one has it’s own play-style and skills (either passive or active). The second way of character customization are the Attributes (Strength, Dexterity and Intellect). Every time you level up your character, you will be rewarded with 3 Mastery Points and 2 Attribute Points along with some extra Mana and HP.

Movement and auto-attack uses the left mouse button, like every ARPG. You also have an Action Bar to organize your active spells, scrolls or potions. For the sake of your mouse, the game let’s you open a portal, when you are out of combat, to teleport back to a main town and vice versa as long you have visited this town at least once in the past. If you die, you will respawn to the closest rebirth fountain that you visited and you will lose a big portion of your experience. You can reclaim some of that exp back if you manage to reach your tombstone without dieing again.

Items in Titan Quest come in five different rarities colors (White, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple). Purple pieces will not be available until you finish the main story on Normal Difficulty. Most of these items can be looted from dead enemies or are available at town merchants using the only currency of the game, gold.

Online Features
If you want to play online with your friends, you can host / join servers that allows up to 4 people to make a party and play together. The downside of this is that there are no PvP elements in such small servers.

Graphics/Sound
For a 10+ years old game the graphics are extraordinary. Every piece of the map is well designed, cinematics are perfect and all armor and enemy models are very detailed. There are zero graphic glitches and the gameplay is smooth. The music, a very challenging feat due to drawing from multiple cultures, and then being brought together into a cohesive score while keeping each region distinct from the other. To get the right feeling, the team did research into the historical musical instruments used in each of the game’s regions. Finally, combat sound effects are decent and monsters reaction sounds will change depending on the current scenario.

Unique Features
Titan Quest is a well designed hack and slash title, combining cultures and mythologies of different continents in the ancient world. It has one of the biggest class selections pool ever for an RPG game, featuring 55 different Mastery Classes.

Replayability
The main story takes around 34 hours to complete, the main+extra 43 hours and the completionist 60 hours. The game provides you with three difficulty modes (Normal, Epic, Legendary) , adding new loot tables and World Bosses with satisfying mechanics to higher difficulties. No matter how much time and effort you invest in Titan Quest, there is always room for improvement.

Pros
- Wide variety of weapons and gear
- High replayability
- Interesting boss mechanics
- Insane amount of classes
- Mythology-related lore

Cons
- PvP does not exist
- You can’t make parties of more than 4 people
- Many cheaters and exploiters in Online Mode

I am playing with two of my friends and we like it. Ofcourse, game has it's bad minuses, like boring quests or sometimes it's unbalanced (too easy or too hard). Besides this game is very fun and good made ☻.

It's great game but they should fix the rubber banding issues. It is visible in the base game and all DLCs.

If you had Titan Quest (original) and Immortal Throne, congrats you have this. An updated version with it all in one neat little package.

If you didn't, here's the review.

Titan Quest is an Action RPG, in the vein of Diablo (1/2) and Dungeon Siege. It's gimmick is that you choose your 'class' by deciding on what mastery to level. You start doing so at level 2, then another not too many levels later. This allows for some fun combinations, such as a dual wielding berserker or an archer who can summon the power of nature to their command... or drain the life of enemies.

It's set in Ancient Greece to start, with your character(s) tracking back the trail of a horrible monster to investigate what the hell is going on. It then heads into other lands, like Egypt and China, where you must now face monsters from their mythologies to try to put everything together. Your weapons and upgrades all correspond to which land you're in.

The Anniversary Edition is an upgraded version of it and the expansion all tied together, with new DLC added that continues on into new stuff.

This is a tough one, and I'm hardly an impartial reviewer, but I still have to go with a positive review here. There are a lot of bugs, it's not as pretty as a modern game, and what it offers isn't that deep ... but it did something that not a lot of other games managed, which is to put up a worthy contender to Diablo 2. The loot collection game is pretty on-point, the story is just right to keep you pushing on, and the skill setup is pretty great and makes you want to try out all the possible combinations. It's just fun.

great game. it's old but it distils the essence of most games in a simple format. if you have not played this you have a huge gap in your gaming knowledge...

Tried to get into this game a few times now, thinking there's gotta be some reason it gets good reviews.

It just doesn't offer anything interesting to keep me interested. I'm bored within the first half hour. Repetitive clicking and spamming of the same one or two abilities., while running around an equally uninteresting, repetitive landscape.

Classic. Most probably in the top 5 isometric ARPs of all time. Always fun to start anew. And honestly the graphics completely hold up to this day. As good as Grim Dawn and aesthetically even better.

Nice arpg to finish once, but after 2 dlc's still has a lot of bugs and lacks in easy to fix quality of life features. Game can't even remeber difficulty you last played - you've been warned.
Useless charms and relics, crappy loot, wasted artifacts potential, for most of the game legendary items are joke. If you wonder when te good loot begins the answer is never.
But still its fun to play once.

Good Setting, good music, good gameplay. Very DIablo II like without the stupid bullshit (weapon repair, picking up thousands of barrels, etc), that made DII tedious. Lots of classes, lots of possibilities. Tons of gear, very much in depth. Some levels get a little bit long towards the end, but sure has an all around epic feel to it. A game from a time, when games were made for fun. Absolutely love it.
