Der Legende fünfter Teil! Die Grafik und Steuerung sind zwar nicht mehr zeitgemäß, aber dieses ist eines der ersten Abenteuer von Lara Croft. Absolut Sehenswert!

Der 5 Teil der Serie kam im Jahr 2000 raus. Das Game fängt mit einer Trauerfeier für die angeblich tote Lara an. Dann treffen sich einige alte Freunde von Lara und erzählen Geschichten von ihr. Diese Geschichten dürft ihr spielen. Zuerst seid ihr in Rom und sucht nach dem Stein der Weisen. Dann durchforscht ihr ein russisches U-Boot nach dem Speer des Schicksals. Die dritte Geschichte verschlägt euch nach Irland. Und zu guter letzt dürft ihr nach New York City.

Wenn ihr die Grafik verschmerzen, euch mit der sehr gewöhnungsbedürftigen Steuerung anfreunden könnt und Tomb Raider Fans seid, könnt ihr hier tatsächlich Spaß haben. Aber auch nur dann! Alle anderen sollten einen Bogen um das Game machen.

Fazit:
Tomb Raider Chronicles ist der fünfte Teil der Reihe. Die für den Playstation-Controller konziperte Steuerung wurde auch hier wieder übernommen. Zum Glück kann man es hier, wie in den anderen Teilen, wieder umstellen. Dennoch hätte ich lieber einen Controller in der Hand gehabt, anstatt fast schon krampfartig in die Tasten zu hauen! Besonders da es auch neue Spielmechaniken gibt. Das führt oft zu Frustmomenten. Verglichen mit der Grafik des ersten Teiles kann man erhebliche Fortschritte sehen. Lara sieht von Teil zu Teil immer besser aus. Von der Story her ist das Spiel sehr dünn angesiedelt. Es ist keine fortlaufende Geschichte die hier erzählt wird. Eher werden einzelne Kurzgeschichten erzählt, welche man durchspielen muss. Auch wenn ich Fan von der Reihe bin, muss ich dennoch den Daumen nach unten machen, da sich zu den anderen Teilen (auf PC adaptiert) kaum etwas geändert hat. Nur Empfehlenswert für richtige Fans der Tomb Raider Reihe!!!!

mit abstand der einfachste Teil der Serie.

"ABER" als fan ein "MUSS"
für mich persönlich mit Tomb Raider 3 hat dies die beste Story.

Tomb Raider Chronicles, the fifth installment in the iconic franchise, doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it does something equally compelling by delivering a collection of distinct, atmospheric tales that leave a lasting mark.

In many ways, Chronicles feels to me like a trip down memory lane and it's one of those Tomb Raider games along with 1 and 2 that I regularly replay. Many elements from previous games resurface, and while this might deter some, it also brings a sense of familiarity and nostalgia.

Chronicles is divided into separate, self-contained stories, each with its unique setting and atmosphere, though unlike in Tomb Raider III, you cannot choose the order of your adventures. Each of those stories has its own atmospheric charm and the settings are vastly diverse: Rome, Snowy Russia and a sunken submarine, a haunted deserted island and a modern metropolis.

The best chapter for me personally is young Lara's haunting adventure on the desolate island, a comfortably eerie experience that I keep revisiting during the Halloween season every year.

Graphics and controls are the ones from the old games of the late 1990s era, but that shouldn't surprise anyone considering that this is an old game.

Definitely recommend this game if you haven't played it.

So I spent a solid couple of hours patching this game, then found out there was a massive level editing community with some other mod stuff involved. First, you'll want to find "Dege's" vgVoodoo patch and install it. Then there's a widescreen patch on a site called "Core Design." Finally, there's a patch that apparently fixes a lot of bugs and other weird problems by someone who goes by Troye, also on Core Design, called "the tomb5 project."

Also, if you have any kind of PC controller, someone's uploaded a file to Steam's controller thing so you can just enable that instead of struggling with keyboard controls. Or just configure your own control scheme. After all the patching above, you should be able to find that menu when you Shift+Tab and click on the controller icon at the bottom.

Hopefully this makes the game a lot easier for people who buy it. It plays and looks decent enough on PC. Sometimes games like this I think might be better just getting the console version, but this one works much better for me after some tweaking.

Once again trying to nostalgia buy an old tomb raider game and unable to do anything due to the terrible port. I loved these games back on ps1 but the steam version feels unplayable. Game is not full screen and blocks health bar. It will also not recognize controllers with awkward keyboard settings that are difficult to change. If you are good at finding downloaded work arounds it might be good for you, but for me it was unplayable. It was a fun game back in the day and I hope there are better ways to play it in the future.

good game (Tomb Raider 2 is the best of the OG series) - terrible port and controls.
It was cheap but to make it "playable" you will need to spend some time getting the controller to work.

The keyboard controls are just insanity.

By far the best Tomb Raider game developed by Core Design. The stages are diverse, the difficulty is exactly right and it doesn't drag for too long like TR3 and TR4. The submarine levels are amazingly atmospheric. One of the best stages in Tomb Raider history including the later releases. It was greatly underrated when it came out because it was the fifth game in four years and everybody was tired, including the fans.

Let me tell you something... Previous TR games (except 4 that I didn't play yet) are really easy to patch or else, there's the Automated fix for example, BUT in TR chronicles (and maybe 4 too) I couldn't find anywhere a way to patch this game, when you launch the game, there's going to be a white bar at the top of the screen, also, The inventory screen for me is shinny (and bugged) as hell, and there's no way to change the game's stone age controls.

Overall, The 13 minutes I've "played" this game was me trying to set it fullscreen or trying to find a way to adjust the keyboard settings.

Buy this at your own risk, or if you ain't bothered by the bugs I said here.

Might as well just play this on the Dreamcast or PS1. No controller support and it crashes almost every time i try to go to the inventory. You'd have a better time playing this on a console.

The worst Tomb Raider I have ever played. Very unintuitive solutions bordering on imperceptible wall to destroy. The level creators clearly went happy-go-lucky with the last two parts of the game where you had to guess shoot this wall, but action kick this one, put to sleep this guy but this one not, find a weapon, but you cant get a weapon from a sleeping guy etc.
To top the unpleasant experience the game has bugs and one game breaking bug almost at the end of the game which i got and could not even finish this sorry excuse for a tomb raider. Avoid.

Absolute piece of garbage. I couldn't finish the game because AI in the last level was bugged.

There's a million other design and technical issues with this game that I'm not even gonna mention because it would be a waste of my time, but the fact that I can't complete the game because of a glitch is just infuriating.

Tomb Raider V: Chronicles was the end of the original series that I think many of us played at least a little bit of when we were younger. I definitely think that Tomb Raider V was more of what we know and enjoy while also taking zero risks or innovating on any gameplay. Although I consider that a big miss, I didn't feel it that much while I was playing the game and therefore I would still recommend this game especially if you have played the first four games.

Another great Lara Croft adventure, more adventure platforming goodness. Some stages were a good challenge and the game is still fun end to end. A solid entry in the series.

Collection of various short stories about some past events from Lara's life. It's interesting, but it felt mostly like a hack work. Perhaps the most interesting addition is the very complicated level editor. This game is amazing, is my second favorite game of this franchise (the first is TR2 ♥), but the Steam version of this game won't work at all, it has lot's of bugs and compatibility issues. This being said, I highly recommend you buying this game in GoG, it's optimised to work perfectly on Windows 10, in widescreen, without needing to install any patches or fixes, it just worked so good (I even can watch the cinematics in fullscreen and windowed mode without any weird resolution bugs!)

End of an era and quite boring at that.

Tomb Raider V adds nothing new but instead is lacking from the content of previous titles.

It's not necessarily a bad game but it's very average and unmemorable.

But if you've come this far, you might as well play it since it's the last of the PS1 era.

Tomb Raider Chronicles is another classic 3D action-adventure game with great level design, fantastic atmosphere and lovely low-poly graphics.

The game is a lot shorter than its predecessors and continues the story of TR: The Last Revelation.

They added a few new game mechanics, for example walking on tightropes, somersaulting out of crawlspaces, swinging around horizontal bars and the grappling hook.

The last level had some annoying bugs, but overall the game offers a worthy conclusion to the classic TR games.

Reviewing games I played a long time ago:

More of an expantion pack than a proper full game, Chronicles was made against the developer wishes and it clearly shows. A derivative experience that fails to bring anything new to the table. On the plus side, it's short and concise, the gameplay is still solid and... well it's more classic Tomb Raider. Knowing that fans will never get any classic Tomb Raider experience in the future, ever, it's never too much. The level in Ireland is easily the best of the game and deserves to be put alongside other classic Tomb Raider levels.

Finished; super fun replaying this after 15 years! Many levels I don't remember. My faves are the ones in Ireland; great aesthetics!

Does not work any more, DirectX setup problems reported at startup. Some players seem to have been able to fix those with re-installing the game multiple times, I just think it is too much trouble...

It's okay. The puzzles are tough and involve lots of searching and trial and error as you get Lara killed. All the different ways of getting Lara killed are amusing. The game is very dated now, with old game play and graphics. I liked playing this game but, personally, it's at the bottom of Tomb Raider games for me.

Save often, but not too often, because there are a few game breaking bugs when you save, making the next area unreachable. Save at the start of a chapter and never overwrite that save until the chapter is finished. There are some audio glitches and the sound may cut out too early during videos and voice overs.

I have only two major issues with this game. One, it always hangs hangs on my computer unless I physically disconnect my XBOX compatible controller. It works fine if I only use my keyboard. Two, I'm disappointed in the theme because it's 4 different missions and stories with barely any connection between them.

5th game of the original Tomb Raider games Chronicles is very much a classic Tomb Raider game, it's shorter and a bit simpler for the most part but it's still fun regardless.

Some people don't like TR5, but I love it. This idea of telling short stories of her little adventures was very creative. I love every single level of this game. It's easier compared to the other 4 previous games, but for me it's still so fun and great to play.

Well, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, is not a bad game, it's average. But the bad support of it on modern operating systems is certainly discouraging. I've tried everything, even the dgVoodoo wrapper, and it now makes the game's polygons appear untextured. And without the wrapper, the game runs simply unsatisfyingly. Purchase if you are okay with it not being optimized well enough. I didn't even play the game, my 5 hours spent here were spent trying to make the game run okay, I only played a little of the first stage because Chronicles, might be, just might be, the lowest point in the series, I even prefer Angel of Darkness over this, and that's some statement.
