Today’s update marks an important step for us. For the first time, we’ve significantly reworked an existing gameplay mechanic to make it more enjoyable and rewarding.
Here’s how the train unloading system for Peabody changes in this patch.
1. Visit the station more often
From now on, Peabody can stop a train for you every single day, instead of only twice a week.
Drop by the station and let him know you’re ready.
And if handling just one train per day still isn’t enough - there’s a way around that.
Peabody is a collector of pocket watches, and he’ll gladly offer extra help if you bring him a few.
Check your pockets - and the pockets of drunk customers. You never know what you might find.
2. Take your pick
There are now more goods to choose from, and instead of relying on Peabody’s list, you decide what ends up in your hands.
A wide range of bonuses is waiting to be discovered - and trust us, there’s more to come.
3. Test your luck
Whether you gain a bonus is now decided by a dice roll.
The more dice with the same symbol and number you roll, the greater the reward.
During unloading, you’ll also find colored crates that let you modify your roll and improve your chances of getting a high result.
4. Rush hour
All trains stopped by Peabody are now mixed cargo-passenger trains.
This means that right after unloading, Peabody can hold the train a little longer and encourage hungry and thirsty passengers to visit your saloon.
Run back as fast as you can - it’s going to get busy.
Summary
I mentioned that this update is important to us.
That’s because we want Saloon Simulator to be a great experience not only for you - our Early Access players - but also for everyone who will play it in the future.
Updates like this allow us to improve things we weren’t fully satisfied with.
After all, we’re still a young development team, and for most of us, this is the first project of this scale.
We’re truly grateful that you’re on this journey with us.
5. Is that all?
Of course not.
Over the past few weeks, our artists have been busy working on employee character models.
Their main focus now is the moonshine equipment and the courtesan characters, but they also found time to prepare a new furniture pack - along with a beautiful, slightly IKEA-inspired visual to present it. Take a look.
The new sets can be found in Earl’s and Addie’s shops under the names “Cornerstone” and “Wildwood.”
Let me know how you feel about this naming approach - we’re considering moving toward set-based names for all furniture instead of giving each item a completely separate title. It should make matching pieces much easier.
Oh - and tell me in the comments if you actually read the furniture descriptions.
It might just give me the strength to creatively describe H_T0_Hangable_Set5. :D
