Grow Your Own Way
[p]The core gameplay loop of Farming will seem familiar to fans of Old School and RuneScape alike. Seeds have started to appear in the biomes available in Ashenfall: Brynmoor, Ghornfell and now Fellhollow. Collect seeds from enemies' packs, and by gathering produce organically growing in the world. [/p][p]Pick the right plot to grow your crop. Till it to stop weeds growing. Water to reduce disease. Compost to increase yield. Simple enough, right?[/p][p]Build one of three kinds of planters: Ash, Oak or Willow. Where you gathered the seeds from will inform which kind of plot they grow best in - Ash planters are best for seeds found in Brynmoor. Willow planters will best nurture seeds from Fellhollow. This increases their resistance to crop disease, so choose what and where you plant carefully![/p][p][/p]Water You Doing?
[p]You can collect river water to fill your Watering Can, and then use that on farming plots. You can also take EITHER dirty water from your watering can, or clean water from a buildable Well or Raincatcher Barrel, and store one of these kinds of water in Water Barrel. This will hold a volume of water that you can pull from - whatever you put in first will define what kind of Water Barrel it is, either clean or dirty. You won't be able to mix the contents, so no funny business. Keep them separate![/p][p]Clean water will come from the Raincatcher Barrel collecting rainwater or buildable wells, but you can also use a Skill Spell to water the plants for you! You magical little adventurer, you.[/p][p]Plants can be watered, and grow over the course of several in-game days - specifically, you'll see the change as you wake up, so power nap your way to produce! [/p][p]You can't purify the water you've collected in your watering can - you don't know where that thing has been. That water will be dirty, and need to be stowed into a Water Barrel for dirty water.[/p][p]Water isn't everything when farming - you will need to cure disease (and your choice of Farming Plot will help with that!), by creating a plant cure, by combining animal bones with weeds. More on Weeds later. [/p][p]You'll also need to treat your crops with compost to increase their yield (that's the number of things you get back when you harvest), including the chance of recovering seeds. Seed recovery chance increases passively as you get better at Farming and level the skill, too![/p][p]Compost is going to very quickly become your best friend in the world of Farming. The Compost Bin is a new processing station that will turn... well, just about anything, into Compost. And by that we mean:[/p]- [p]Anything farmable[/p][/*]
- [p]Any plant or meat[/p][/*]
- [p]Any fish...[/p][list]
- [p]Look, we're getting ahead of ourselves here. Fishing is coming early next year.[/p][/*]
- [p]We told you to hold on to it! [/p][/*]
I'm A Fool To Do Your Dirty Work
[p]Of course, a new skill means new items, and new Skill Spells! Up first, we have:[/p][p][/p]Uproot
[p]Bring forth a storm of magical energy to uproot everything in it's radius - plots, and overworld plants, alike. [/p][p]Upgraded Uproot: Embiggen* the spell, increasing its radius.*Use of "Embiggen" approved by the Mages Guild. [/p][p][/p]
