Our ship, HMS „Chione”, was sent out in search of HMS „Erebus” and HMS „Terror”. On November 2nd, 1847, she became trapped in the ice during the endless polar night. „Chione” is the only thing standing between the crew and the bone-freezing cold and the horrors lurking in the dark.
As the captain, you must fight to keep the ship in working order. Only by maintaining the „Chione” will your crew have a chance to survive the polar night and escape the icy prison. The ship will suffer damage from the relentless pressure of the ice, the freezing temperatures — and sometimes, from the actions of the crew themselves, whether intentional or not.
You’ll need to send and manage icebreaking teams, ensure proper temperature control by maintaining the furnace, and dispatch repair crews to fix the damage on board. Only the right allocation of your crew and careful management of these tasks will keep the HMS „Chione” afloat.

„Chione” is also the home of your entire crew.
Lower deck is the home of the furnace room, a crucial area that keeps everyone alive. Nearby are the storerooms with food and supplies, and additional berths for the sailors.
Above that deck are the crew quarters, where key figures such as the Researcher, Colonel, Chaplain, and Doctor reside. The Doctor also oversees the sickbay, where injured and ill sailors receive treatment.
Higher still lies the mess hall, the heart of the ship’s social life — where sailors eat, drink, and share moments of respite. On this level, the Steward and Captain also have their cabins.
The upper deck, covered in snow and ice, is shrouded in darkness. Guard shifts patrol the ship, watching not only for any signs of life or hope — but also for dangers hiding in the night. Around the vessel, icebreakers toil in the freezing winds, breaking apart the ice that threatens to crush the ship.
It is your duty, Captain, to ensure that the HMS „Chione” survives this terrifying night — in a condition that allows her to sail again.
