Greetings, Travelers. ❄️
In our previous devlog, we talked about how vital the HMS Chione is — the only thing standing between life and death in the frozen wasteland. But keeping the ship afloat is not enough to survive in Terror: Endless Night.
Our crew is trapped in ice during the endless polar night. Sailors must live and work surrounded by absolute darkness and bone-freezing cold — conditions that slowly chip away at their sanity.
Each crewmember has their own Madness Meter.
Every day, it rises — a reflection of the unbearable environment aboard the Chione. But your decisions as Captain, combined with random events and weather conditions, can either worsen or relieve the growing insanity.
When a sailor’s Madness Meter passes certain thresholds, they will acquire a so-called Madness Perk — traits that affect not only themselves but also their companions.

For example:
The “Speaking in Foreign Tongues” perk will cause co-workers madness to rise faster.
The “Monster Within” perk may trigger a special madness event — a gruesome act committed by the afflicted sailor.
The more unhinged a sailor becomes, the stronger — and more dangerous — their Madness Perks will grow. Madness spreads like frost, consuming the ship from within, threatening not only the success of the expedition but the lives of everyone aboard.
And madness doesn’t only affect individuals.
As the overall level of madness rises, HMS the Chione itself begins to change — its appearance grows darker, the atmosphere heavier, and even the music gets more sinister to reflect the creeping insanity taking hold of the crew.
The polar night hides many horrors. But the greatest of them all may be what festers in the human mind...
