People were cruel not only to the spirit and animals, but also to their own kind. The forest that Darukhar protected was inhabited by Rukhs - humanoid creatures who enjoyed all the benefits of the forest.
They honored Darukhar and performed rituals every 10 days in gratitude to their guardian. During such rituals, they wore masks to resemble the guardian.
After the death of the forest's protector, people exterminated the Rukh people. They took their masks for themselves and displayed them as trophies.
