Greetings Terrarians!
Thanksgiving has come and gone, but our thankfulness for all of you - your support, passion for Terraria, and so much more - will never fade. As we look to close out yet another year of Terraria development, it is a great time for us to reflect on what has been a challenging, but productive 2023 thus far. With Crossplay and 1.4.5 on the horizon, 2024 is shaping up to be a big one - thanks for coming along with us on this amazing journey.
Without further ado, let's jump right in to what you came here for!
PC - RE-LOGIC
TERRARIA 1.4.5 - FISHING UP THE PAST
The team has once again been hard at work, adding more and more fun stuff to Terraria 1.4.5. Things will start to wind down for the year once we get into the second half of December, but we are planning to finish the year strong in order to give us a ton of momentum as we head into 2024. As for spoilers this month, we thought we might show a couple of things that are small but really cool. Shall we?
We are not sure how the fish in Terraria stayed invisible all this time, but now you can see what you might be reeling in while fishing!
You may have found yourself thinking what Terraria might feel like "back in the days" on a good old CRT... well wonder no more! (archaic hookups not required)

TMODLOADER NEWS - TML TEAM
Hello everyone!
The tModLoader team and our amazing community of contributors has been hard at work improving tModLoader. On December 1st our monthly update release of tModLoader will go live. This month's release mainly contains bug fixes and new capabilities for modders.
As a reminder to modders, as of December 1st any modder added as a "Contributor" to a mod on the Steam workshop will be able to publish updates for the mod directly. We encourage mod owners to ensure that all contributors act responsibly with this new capability. We look forward to this feature enabling mods to more reliably update to fix bugs that arise.
Modders and users should also keep an eye out for our monthly Steam announcement on the 1st where a complete listing of bug fixes and API changes for this month's release will be listed. A recently added news button on the main menu will direct you directly to the announcement once it is live.

TMODLOADER STEAM WORKSHOP

WHAT'S NEXT FOR TML?
More features, continuing to evolve and grow what TML can do... and getting ready for 1.4.5. As always, you can keep track the current progress and much more in real time at tModLoader/tModLoader (But note that the completion percentage doesn't mean anything, because issues and PRs don't have weights.) Developers who are willing to contribute may do so by doing PRs to the tModLoader/tModLoader branch. (See tModLoader/tModLoader)
PlayStation, XBOX, Nintendo Switch, Mobile - DR STUDIOS
Wow, is it almost the end of 2023 already? Our team has been hard at work to close out the year in a strong way - and we are personally hoping that next year will be the year that Terraria Crossplay arrives at long last. In the meantime, we have been keeping pace with the PC team towards the development of Terraria 1.4.5. We have a particularly cool spoiler this month, one that we think everyone will appreciate... Speaking of which, shall we take a peek? [previewyoutube=eI2Ct6hm1kY;full][/previewyoutube] Know what sucks? Having to stare at your dead character, not even knowing how that epic boss fight is going. Now you can cheer on from the sidelines as you await your respawn with the new Spectate feature! No more updates on Crossplay timing just yet - other than to reiterate that we expect it will be a post-1.4.5 addition, assuming we are successful with first party reviews, etc. Until next time, Console & Mobile friends - thanks for all of your love and support!

Hello Terrarians!
Chris here, game developer at Paper Fort Games. I’m back with the next installment of the Terraria: The Board Game designer diary. This month, I’m going to be discussing setup and rulebooks, the miniature design process, painted boss models and PAX Unplugged 2023.

It’s a Setup!
We realise that we’re asking you to play a board game when you have the digital game at your fingertips, so we’re working hard to make sure that setting up the board game is quick and easy. There will be an organiser in the box to hold all the game components, and you’ll be discovering the world as you go, to minimise the amount you have to do before playing. We want to get you into the fun stuff as soon as possible, so we’re writing the rulebook in a ‘learn-as-you-play’ fashion, more akin to a videogame tutorial than a traditional board game rulebook. You’ll be able to set up, open the rules and start playing right away; no need to read a huge tome beforehand!
New Painted Bosses!
Painter extraordinaire Max has been working his magic on our latest boss sculpts; here are Eye of Cthulhu (in both forms) and Queen Bee! These miniatures will be cast in coloured plastic in the game, and you’ll be able to play with them straight out of the box, give them a simple ink wash, or really go to town painting them; the choice is yours!
Max’s is currently painting Brain of Cthulhu; keep an eye on our Instagram and Twitter to see the finished thing! We’ll also be posting a timelapse of Max painting Queen Bee

How Miniatures Get Made
Getting from a 2D sprite to a painted 3D model is a multi-person job. I make a size guide sketch at the beginning of the process and oversee the steps, but credit for the final product goes to artist George, sculptor Francesco and painter Max, as well as the Re-Logic team for their feedback and guidance! Here’s a peek at how Eye of Cthulhu and Queen Bee came to life:

Come and See the Game at PAX Unplugged 2023!
From December 1st to 3rd, we’ll be showing Terraria: The Board Game at PAX Unplugged (PAXU) held in Philadelphia, US. If you’re coming to the show, please stop by and say hello; you’ll find us at the Lucky Duck Games booth (3400). We’ll have the first in-person showing of our latest boss miniatures (Queen Bee, Eye of Cthulhu and Brain of Cthulhu) including painted versions of these, plus our Wall of Flesh and King Slime which went down a storm at Essen Spiel!
