Overview
[p]Being able to customize the look of your factions in Company of Heroes 3 has proven to be very popular with our players, and we have heard a lot of feedback requesting additional unit and profile cosmetics, more frequent releases of cosmetic sets, and general store and loadout improvements. With the Topaz Rhino (2.3.0) update releasing on March 31st, we will be implementing a lot of these changes, and laying the groundwork to do more in the future. This work will run in tandem with our future content plans for additional Battlegroups and gameplay content, as we have a lot more to share in the months ahead![/p][p][/p][p]The Topaz Rhino update includes a major revamp of the in-game store and our cosmetic sets. This will include a fresh, new look to streamline the management of your cosmetic loadout, and improvements to make navigating, purchasing, and equipping items in the store a lot more straightforward. Our new cosmetics showcase allows you to preview cosmetics, rotate the camera, and really get a great sense for how they actually look in game. We plan to show these changes in more detail in our Deep Dive livestream next week, but here you can get a sneak peek of the work in progress! Additionally, we’ll be granting certain cosmetics for eligible players (more details below) when that update goes live at the end of the month. - [p]Cosmetic sets broken up into smaller bundles [/p][/*]
- [p]Finishing “incomplete” cosmetic sets [/p][/*]
- [p]Granting all cosmetic items in a set – even if you own some, but not all of them [/p][/*]
- [p]How changing the Hammer & Shield pack affects players who only own one of the included Battlegroups [/p][/*]
- [p]New item types in the store [/p][/*]
Cosmetic Sets vs Bundles
[p]Cosmetic sets will no longer be broken into smaller bundles. Moving forward, cosmetics will only be available as a complete or Ultimate Set. We found that players were often frustrated by which units were (or were not) included in bundles, and it often made collecting a complete set confusing. [/p][p]Today we are delisting all smaller bundles and individual cosmetic items from the in-game store. On March 31st, these cosmetics will be available in their Ultimate Set. As an example, the Sea Blue M8 Greyhound Armored Car cosmetic for the US Forces can no longer be purchased individually – it will only be available in the Sea Blue Ultimate Set. [/p][p]The only exceptions to this will be the Night Fighters cosmetic items, which will still be available individually for now, and the Devil’s Brigade cosmetics which were only available as a pre-order bonus. [/p][p] [/p]What’s Old is New Again
[p]Previously, we had a few cosmetic sets that only included some of a faction’s base unit roster, but not all of them, such as the Nature’s Vanguard set for the British Forces which only included vehicles. These sets will now include cosmetics for all units in the faction’s base roster. The new cosmetics will be automatically granted to anyone who purchased the corresponding set before update 2.3.0. These sets include: [/p]- [p]Board Room (US Forces)[/p][/*]
- [p]Earth Red (US Forces)[/p][/*]
- [p]Sea Blue (US Forces) [/p][/*]
- [p]Charcoal (Wehrmacht) [/p][/*]
- [p]Dark Brown (Wehrmacht) [/p][/*]
- [p]Mud Brown (British Forces) [/p][/*]
- [p]Nature’s Vanguard (British Forces)[/p][/*]
- [p]Woodland Slate (British Forces) [/p][/*]
- [p]Basalt Grey (Deutsches Afrikakorps) [/p][/*]
- [p]Light Grey (Deutsches Afrikakorps) [/p][/*]
[/p]
Granting Missing/Partial Cosmetic Sets
[p]As the changes we are implementing to the store are quite profound, we want to make sure we do right by players who may have already owned some, but not all, the unit cosmetics in a new Ultimate Set. Therefore, with this update any player who previously owned at least one unit cosmetic for a given set will now be granted the full Ultimate Set. [/p][p]The exceptions to this will include the Night Fighters set and the Devil’s Brigade set. [/p][p] [/p]Hammer & Shield Battlegroup Redemption
[p]We previously announced changes to the Hammer & Shield Expansion Pack which you can read about here. For anyone that does not currently own the US Forces Advanced Infantry Battlegroup and the Wehrmacht Italian Coastal Defense Battlegroup, you will be able to purchase them on the Steam Store with the new Hammer & Shield Battlegroup Pack, releasing on April 14th, 2026. These Battlegroups will be delisted from the in-game store today. [/p][p]For players that may have previously unlocked one, but not both Battlegroups via the in-game store, you will automatically be granted the other Battlegroup on March 31st. We want to ensure that anyone that was saving up or waiting to complete the set doesn’t get left out. So, for example, if you already unlocked or owned the Italian Coastal Defense Battlegroup, but not the Advanced Infantry Battlegroup, you will be granted the latter. [/p][p] [/p]New Cosmetic Item Types
[p]One of the points of feedback we see frequently from players is that they want more item types to spend their Merit and War Bonds on. With the Topaz Rhino update, we will be introducing new Resource Point cosmetics, starting with our new Ultimate Sets: [/p]- [p]Sand & Sky (US Forces) [/p][/*]
- [p]Hinterhalt Elite (Wehrmacht) [/p][/*]
- [p]Desert Defenders (British Forces) [/p][/*]
- [p]Stalkers (Deutsches Afrikakorps) [/p][/*]
Next Steps
[p]Our goal with these changes is to better package cosmetics and Battlegroups and to make the in-game store experience as streamlined as possible. These changes are also laying the groundwork for future content and DLC so that we can continue improving upon the Company of Heroes 3 experience. [/p][p]We’re excited to reveal more of the changes coming in the Topaz Rhino update on March 31st, and we can’t wait to share more about future Battlegroups, improvements, and content in the months ahead. Frequently Asked Questions
[p]Q: If I own part of a cosmetic set, do I need to do anything, or upgrade, or purchase additional items to complete it?
A: No! After March 31st, all Ultimate Sets will include all cosmetic items for that themed faction set. If you own part of it already, you will be granted the remaining items to complete the set.
[/p][p]Q: Will you be releasing any individual unit cosmetics in the future? [/p][p]A: This is very unlikely. Our goal is to primarily release unit cosmetics as complete Ultimate Sets to cover an entire faction’s base roster. Profile Customizations, Resource Points, Victory Points, and/or Buildings will be the only single purchasable items in the store in the future. Cosmetics for playable/controllable units will be kept to Ultimate Sets.
[/p][p]Q: If I already owned the Hammer & Shield Expansion Pack or the Company of Heroes 3: Premium Edition, will I lose access to any items?
A: No – all previously claimed items will still be tied to your account. [/p][p]
Q: Once the Hammer & Shield Battlegroup Pack is released on April 14th, 2026, if I have a problem purchasing it on the Steam Store or want a refund, who should I contact?
A: You should reach out to Steam Support here. [/p][p] [/p]
