Cow Boss Tweaks
Cow killers, herd this call! And brace yourself for the mandatory cow puns...
Since the launch of the Cow Boss, we’ve seen the community absolutely milking every moment of it. It’s been amoosing to watch so many of you unleash your inner Cow Killer, grinding for Beef, flexing those Cow Slippers, and tackling udderly bold challenges like facing Demonic Brutus in full cow attire. Whether you’re a fresh-faced adventurer learning the ropes of PvM or a seasoned ’Scaper chasing that high-steaks thrill, this past week has been legen-dairy to say the least.
Some talented players have even created udderly cute fanart referencing this launch!

Prezleek just thinks Beef is neat, and we agree. Tavini1 has also added Beef to what they've been cooking. Plus, "What a Lumbridge dairy cow sees" by Scimister.
Now that the launch week is behind us and we're mooving onto the second week, we’ve got some initial fixes and tweaks on the way:
- You can now store all four colour variants of the Cow Slippers as well as the Brutus Slippers in the Magic Wardrobe of your Player-Owned House.[/*]
- Adjusted Bottomless Milk Bucket's high alch value from 27,000 to 9,000 GP to better align with its rarity.[/*]
- Removed Demonic Brutus's immunity to Thralls from the Arceuus Spellbook.[/*]
- Adjusted Brutus’s soft anti-safespot mechanics so that he now uses his stomp special attack if he’s safespotted while the player is only one tile away.[/*]
- Random events will no longer spawn during Demonic Brutus fights.[/*]
- Added a "Yes and don't ask again" option when releasing Brutus from its pen.[/*]
- Corrected several typos in Gillie Groats’ dialogue and in the examine text for the second milk sample during the The Ides of Milk quest.[/*]
We'll be keeping an eye on your feedback as we moove forward, but that's a wrap for this week.

Skill Guide and Level-Up Rework
Changing how level-up messages are displayed in Old School RuneScape has long been a player request. On top of that, wouldn't it be nicer if you could see whether or not you meet a specific requirement when you check the Skill Guide?
Today, we're bringing you the Skill Guide and Level-Up Rework proposal from our Game Jam VII blog. Let's take a look at what has improved!
Level-Up Messages
Picture this: you’ve just levelled up and received the pop-up letting you know you’ve advanced a Skill level. But before you can click “Continue,” you’re interrupted - maybe you misclick, or maybe you’re attacked - and the pop-up disappears. Just like that, you’ve missed the list of newly unlocked features. Sure, you can open the Skill Guide and scroll through each section to find the information manually, but it would be much nicer not to lose that moment in the first place. This change is especially helpful for newer players, who stand to benefit the most from seeing exactly what they’ve just unlocked.
Now, when you advance a level in a skill, the game will invite you to open the skill guide via a chatbox message, so you can see what you've unlocked. Better yet, you can do that at your convenience!

Upon opening the Skill Guide, you'll find a list of all the features requiring a particular Skill level, regardless of which section they're in. The new version of level-up messages works in the legacy skin of the skill guide menu too, for those who've kept the old parchment style. Below is an example for what you can see for achieving Level 62, in both the new and old parchment style:

Moreover, the stats side-panel stone and the Skill icons will glow, indicating that you've got some level-up unlocks to view.

We know that, particularly when you're on a new account, you often rack up the level-ups in quick succession and so all those chat messages might become a bit too much. So the clickable messages will have a 'Clear all' option that clears them all. This wipes your pending level-up notifications in all the skills - no more glowing icons or side-panel stone - and when the skill guide is next opened, it will just show its regular contents as usual.
If the glowing icons and flashing stones are still a bit much for you, that's fine - there's a toggle for that. The "Level-up guide list" option lets you control whether the game will invite you to check the in-game Skill Guides after you've leveled up.

While the standard level-up pop-ups are replaced with the improvements mentioned above, we're keeping the Skillcape pop-up messages. After all, achieving Level 99 in any skill is a huge milestone in a 'Scaper's journey and deserves to be acknowledged! These Skillcape pop-ups will highlight where exactly you should visit to obtain your cape. Note that the Skillcape pop-up appears only if you've got "Level-up pop-up notifications" enabled in the Settings menu. If you’d rather not see any pop-ups at all, simply toggle off “Level-up pop-up notifications” to avoid interruptions altogether.

Skill Guides Now Check Whether You Meet the Requirements
Additionally, after some time sink and sprucing up the Skill Guide code database, the game is now able to check your stats and other completions, and highlight whether or not you satisfy the requirements for an entry. So the Skill Guides have gotten a splash of colour:

This update involved a lot of under-the-hood reworking of the game's legacy scripts, avoiding messy duplication of data, and creating infrastructure that could be used for more options in future, such as automatically hiding "Members:" if the player is already a member, hiding features that aren't yet unlocked, or even letting you perform custom searches within the menu. You can check out the Game Jam blog for more information about what actually went into this simple-looking update.
Updates to Premier Membership Benefits
Yesterday, our friends over at RuneScape announced upcoming changes to Premier Membership benefits as their new direction evolves, including how we can better distribute its gated benefits to all Members, no matter how you choose to subscribe.
Premier still offers the best value subscription method, but many of the benefits are in direct conflict with their new design direction. Our focus is making sure every Membership prioritises content, features and services as how we deliver the best value possible for your subscription.
Part of this change means that Premier Membership has now been renamed to 12 Month Membership.
If you play both OSRS and RS, and want to see all the information on what’s changing, please check out the full post here.
