In Case You Missed It: From Gamescom to PAX West
We’ve been on the road (and in the air), traveling the world to connect with YOU. Gamescom was such a blast (literally), with hands-on gameplay, the infamous Rage Room, and talented cosplayers taking on some of our favorite characters. And while we were so sad to leave, we’re so excited to be hitting PAX West RIGHT NOW. Our Gearbox Main Theater Showcase panel was earlier today, and we will be on the floor all weekend with gameplay and… you guessed it, our RAGE ROOM.

Quality of Life News: Sort and Filter
Looting got a hell of a lot easier with the following Sort and Filter features. In [i]Borderlands 4[/i], players will be able to sort their equipment by:
Recent (the order in which items were picked up)
Rarity
Type
Level Requirement
Sell Value
Manufacturer
"Comparable" stats on item cards, like Damage, Accuracy, etc.
The stat sorts that are available for players to choose from is a dynamically populated list, meaning there will be more options as you pick up more items, and fewer options when you sell or drop items.

Comparing an item while sorting by stat will also show comparison indicators for each item being sorted.

Filters
Filters have been a longtime request from players and are being implemented for BL4. Like the stat sorting, the filter list is populated dynamically based on the player's current inventory. Items that match the current filter get pushed to the front of the list and items which do not match also get slightly dimmer.
This allows players to quickly narrow down item searches by very specific criteria, creating a quick "cross-section" view of matching items.
Criteria including:
Rarity
Damage Type
[list]Elemental damage types as well as Kinetic (non-elemental)
Damage type might be for primary or secondary or both firing modes on a weapon
Item Type (and Subtype)
e.g. Pistol, SMG, Assault Rifle, Energy Shield, Armor Shield, Grenade, etc...
Has Firmware
[/*][*]Equipped/Unequipped
[/*][*]Manufacturer
[/*][*]Item Marker
Favorite, Trash, Tag Group, etc...

Item counts in the filter are relative to the current filter settings. These two screenshots are from the same set of items. When filtering by Incendiary and/or Shock damage types, there are no Pistols which match those criteria, so the Pistols entry shows "0" and is unselectable. However, this inventory does have Pistols – When filtering by Pistol, we can quickly see there are 3 and we expect none of them to be Incendiary or Shock type, so those now show "0" and are unselectable.
Within the Type group, the other options all now show a number wrapped in parenthesis "(#)", indicating that is how many items almost match the current filter. For example, no Shotguns match the current filter because we're currently only filtering by Pistols. If we add Shotguns to the filter we will see 5 items added to the matching items list.

At least one of those Shotguns must have elemental damage associated with it, since Kinetic was the only option available before. Let's see which one.

Now we have only one item that matches [b]all [/b]of the criteria. We can tell from the Filter list alone that it's a Common rarity Shotgun that also can deal Shock damage. Kinetic damage now shows (7) and if selected will bring those back into the matching items list. Pistol is still selected as part of the criteria, but there are no pistols which deal Radiation damage, so the count falls to 0.

Now we can see that there are 3x SMG and 1x Assault Rifle that would match the rest of the filter [i]if [/i]those options were added to the filter's criteria.
Mark All Filtered
It's now also possible to mark items in bulk, which will apply the chosen mark to any items in the filter [i]which are not already marked[/i], the exact number of applicable items will display in parenthesis "(#)".

Send Items To Bank
When items have been flagged as "Bank" a prompt will appear to allow players to instantly send those marked items to their bank from anywhere in the world.
Players will still need to access a physical bank in-game in order to retrieve items, but the ability to send items to the bank remotely works as long as there is still space in the bank to hold something.

Some of the items we're trying to send to the bank are actually equipped right now, so maybe we don't want to send those items, just the ones flagged as "Bank" that aren't equipped should be sent for now.

We still have the two items that are flagged as "Bank" and are equipped. The bank now shows 2 items and our filtered item count decreased from 17 to 15, we've successfully transferred items.

[b]What does it look like for you to get into the mindset of the [i]Borderlands[/i] voice when you're working on something for social media?[/b]
[b]Hunter Wolfe: [/b]When I'm writing copy or planning assets, I'll ask myself: is this unhinged enough? If it is, then mission accomplished! But if not, I'll workshop it. [i]Borderlands[/i] is all about being not-so-serious and oh-so-chaotic, after all.
[b]How important are your interactions online in the comments sections? What do you find most important about engaging with the community?[/b]
[b]Hunter: [/b]Chatting with community members online is one of my favorite parts of the job! We're all [i]Borderlands[/i] nerds here, so getting to connect with fans on something we all love is just really fun.
To the second part of your question though, I think replying to comments is important because it lets people know that they're part of a two-way conversation. Community feedback is massively important to us, and my hope is that when we reply to folks, it sends that message. I want our community to always feel like we're listening, because we are!
[b]If you were a Vault Hunter, what would you be packing?[/b]
[b]Hunter: [/b]I'd make sure to pack a daily multivitamin, because most of the places you go in the [i]Borderlands [/i]games look like they'll give you tetanus, and I think you want to keep a healthy immune system on your adventures. That and probably a pistol that shoots potatoes. My siblings and I used to play with potato bazookas as a kid, so it feels like it'd be a fitting, lore-rooted part of my kit if I were a Vault Hunter.
