It's never been easier to activate Beta Branches on Steam. Check out this screenshot for an easy opt-in into the Players Beta Test for the upcoming update.
While in the game's main menu, just click the dropdown menu in the top righthand corner and choose PREVIEW. You're then being asked to quit the game in order to perform the necessary update. Then simply restart the game.
If you no longer want to play the update preview, click the dropdown menu and choose PUBLIC.
