[/p][p align="justify"]Welcome to our second August dev diary. Today we return to our series on module creation, this time focusing on a piece from the fearsome Iron Guild, one of the toughest raider groups Neterun has ever seen.
In our last updates, we talked about the different styles of the Iron Guild and the Gold Guild. The Iron Guild leans into brute force with functional, kinetic weapons. The Gold Guild, on the other hand, is more like a cult devoted to gold, using it to craft elegant, almost ceremonial arms.
But things in Neterun are never that simple. Sure, Iron Raiders love rocket launchers and gatling guns, but they are not against using energy weapons. This brings us to today’s focus, the Collimator Fe-1.
[/p][p align="justify"][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/44761771/bb92439b612805d56fc2a12fdf2b201254d5650a.jpg"][/img][/p][p align="justify"]The one in the image above was one of our first versions of this agile Iron laser. We aimed for an aggressive look from the start, with a sharp, triangular silhouette. The teeth around the muzzle make it look like a mouth ready to bite, exactly the kind of style the Iron Raiders go for.
[/p][p align="justify"][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/44761771/f872627389aeff884aed0af8fa18555c331f9ad8.jpg"][/img][/p][p align="justify"]From there, we added the classic energy vents you would expect on a laser module, giving it a charged and powerful feel. At its core, the weapon uses technology inspired by the massive cages found in certain corners of the galaxy. In the game’s lore, it is still produced by Cagetastic, the company that created the cages.
[/p][p align="justify"][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/44761771/98793d55420dac15c4a166f379141aea6a661fc0.jpg"][/img][/p][p align="justify"]We finished it off with signature Iron Guild touches. The chains, for example, are a recurring element we have used on other Iron gear, helping it feel right at home in the guild’s arsenal. Many shields of the Gold Raiders, the Iron Guild’s eternal rivals, have already fallen to the Collimator Fe-1.
